Suffering from the stresses of the excessive workload that goes with being an editor, Sidriss the Confused decides she needs a holiday. But the job of editing her father’s latest novel cannot be left on hold, so before she can go, she has to find someone to fill in for her. As there are five candidates to choose from, Sidriss decides that she had best interview all of them.
Originally meant as the 2010 festive offering from the Players, but lengthily delayed due to ongoing technical problems, Sojourn is the fourth instalment of the sketch-series in the world of Harry Potter authorship. The Collins siblings return as Confuser and Confused, but the latest of Sidriss’ adventures sees other characters entering proceedings, including Dunshelm Players’ debuts for Mildread the Witch, Motley the Jester, Gretel the Dungeon Maid, and Ridolfo the Troubadour.

Today's episode is very much a game of two halves. We go from quite possibly one of the most entertainingly bad teams of series 4 to one of the greatest quests of the entire show! Along the way we talk about the Mandela effect in relation to a certain moment with a certain Dungeoneer, Martin H is tickled by the idea of Pickle's parrot, and we experience some pretty severe Déjà vu thanks to some Door Monster questions.

Hi Listeners of Illusion!
Martin Odoni was sadly suffering from Covid when it came time to record this episode, so I'm afraid you'll have to put up with Martin Harder on his own.
We had so many great submissions to our competition that we decided to give out a secondary prize - our very own Listeners' Choice Award.
Presented here in this podcast are the seven entries we have chosen to be eligible for the main prize. We'll be starting a poll where you will have the chance to vote for your favourite memories. the winner of this poll will receive a separate prize of either a t-shirt or mug with their choice of design from our Redbubble store. This prize is completely separate from the main prize shown in the main competition post, and the poll will have no influence on the main competition (which is essentially a prize draw, where a winner will be chosen at random).
We're not analysing the entries here or giving much feedback or opinions, as we'll be doing so on a future podcast when Mr. Odoni is able to join in.We hope you enjoy listening to these entries as much as we did. Please remember that it's okay to disagree with the opinions of others, as long as everybody remains civil :)
Vote for your favourite in our poll here

We're back!
Our extended break has now come to an end, and we're returning with what is possibly the best episode of series 4 so far, not least because of the introduction of two interesting new obstacles for the team. One is the often overlooked Transporter Pad floor puzzle, whilst the other involves the introduction of a certain new corridor which has us "buzzing" with excitement...

Whilst we take our inter-season break, we're glad to be able to announce that we have partnered up with the folk behind the Knightmare Audio Series. the KAS, rather like the Dunshelm Players, are a group of talented amateur voice actors who put on plays based on The Greater Game. Unlike the Dunshelm Players though, KAS plays are more like an extension to the original TV series. They present new quests, with new teams of contestants tackling a new version of the Dungeon of Deceit.

NOTICE: This parody was produced before JKR made her more controversial personal views known. Temporal Discussion - the Knightmare Podcast and The Dunshelm Players would like to make it clear that the production of this parody in no way represents endorsement of JKR's policies.
Trans rights are human rights.
Dazzled by critical acclaim, Sidriss publicly suggests that she and Hordriss might well be about to write yet another new volume in the Harry Potter saga. Hordriss despairs, partly because of idea-exhaustion, but mainly because his priorities are changing. His desire for literary achievement is being replaced with a growing affection for entrepreneurial conquest.
Originally released on November 4th 2011 to mark the 5th anniversary of The Dunshelm Players first audio play, Famous For Retreating.

The happy father-daughter writing partnership established between Hordriss the Confuser and Sidriss the Confused has finally paid dividends as they get ready to publish the first novel they’ve written together. Or to be more precise, Hordriss has written it while Sidriss unsportingly insists on pointing out why most of what he’s written is rubbish. This improvised sketch was originally recorded many years ago, long before JK Rowling publicly aired some of her more controversial opinions, and both Temporal Discussion and The Dunshelm Players would like it to be known that this recording does not in any way equal support of her beliefs. Sidriss the Confused……………………………Rosey Collins Hordriss the Confuser……………………………Jake Collins Running time approx 9 minutes. Scenario by Jake Collins – dialogue improvised by the cast. Music (intro track ‘Eyecatch’ & outro track ‘Endless Horizons’) provided by Royaltyfreemusic.com, composers anonymous. Sound effects provided by The Free Sound Project and Soundrangers. The fourth era of the Dungeon Of Deceit is imminent, and it is a time of change; the Dungeon is growing fast and far beyond its old boundaries, while some of the mightiest of its occupants, both light and dark, are coming into conflict. When old alliances are broken by treachery and greed, fresh alliances are formed as new protagonists emerge, until five distinct factions – four of them forces for evil and only one of them a force for good – take shape. Of these, it is the faction controlled by the sorceress Malice that takes the initiative. While the Dungeon Master, Treguard of Dunshelm, tries to remain impartial and above the conflicts raging in the Greater Game, the war leads to chaos, death, and a new dominant evil that he simply must range his forces against. Confusion is certain… When Five Tribes Go to War! Instead of giving you our Patreon, Ko-Fi and merchandising links this episode we'd like to ask you to donate to the mental health charity Safe in Our World, of which former Dungeoneer Anthony Haig is an ambassador. More information, including how to donate, can be found on their website.

Majida, Pickle, Folly and Motley have all seen better days, and have all had better careers. We find them many years after the end of the TV series, and they are now the serving staff in a tavern in the Wolfglade. One evening, they have to wait on two new customers, one of whom is revelling in the fame and fortune of a revived on-screen career, the other of whom is called Daisy.
Made in response to YouTube's ‘Geek Week’ episode of Knightmare, All Washed Up is a comedy sketch put together by some of the Dunshelm Players regulars, with a few light-hearted barbs at one or two of KM-GW’s weaker ingredients.
Originally released in 2013.

Some two-and-a-half years in the making, Famous For Retreating is the first-ever audio play based in the universe of the Greater Game of Luck and Glory.
Set approximately three years after the conclusion of the TV series, the play adds substantial development to one character who only got to appear in a few episodes, and also explores one of the central characters, giving him a new origin, while explaining the transitions that led to his emergence. Using themes and characters devised by award-winning TV Producer Tim Child, Famous For Retreating is a close study of some of the prominent personalities from the series he created, attempting to flesh out their histories and to offer a new perspective on their motivations.

After her mission to procure witch amber from behind enemy lines goes awry, Heggarty is gravely injured. Her only hope is the witch queen Greystagg, but as Heggarty's injuries prefent her from using Greystagg's calling name, the queen who normally prides herself on her neutrality in the battle between The Powers That Be and The Opposition is forced to make an uneasy alliance with Treguard.

Links between the Twentieth Century and the era of the Dungeon have been dormant for several years, but the civil war between ‘The Powers-That-Be’ and ‘The Opposition’ continues. Caught between the two forces in the conflict are the Grey Sisterhood, now resident in the new colony of Ambrohame.
Desperate to renew her people’s dwindling powers, the Witch Queen Greystagg sends an emissary, Heggatty, to seek out new sources of witch amber. During her mission, Heggatty is attacked by the Opposition, and needs Treguard and Stiletta to come to her aid.
Caught in a situation where combat is impossible, Treguard and his mortal enemy, Lord Fear, must each battle with words to induce terror in the other to decide the fate of the Grey Sisters… with the balance of the entire war resting on the outcome.

We're taking a short break from the series in order to bring you this unofficial Knightmare audio play by The Dunshelm Players.
IN DEFENCE OF DAN
Dan Howell has been hunted down by the law-enforcers of Knightmare fandom and is put on trial for his smart-assery during the Geek Week special. His hopes of continued freedom depend on a lawyer who is still to sit her GCSEs, in legal battle with a rabid and fervent KM *fanatic, all overseen by a judge whose only legal qualifications are a swimming certificate and a lengthy career watching ITV courtroom docudramas.
A somewhat belated. response to the new episode of Knightmare made for YouTube’s ‘GeekWeek’, is a comedy sketch written and mixed by Amy Davies. For once, it does not feature any regular Knightmare characters, and has a few gentle digs at the outraged reaction of some of the fans to the team of YouTube stars who took part in the special. It features a Dunshelm Players debut for Lucy Davies.*PRODUCTION INFO
