BOTTOM LINE: BEING A PRESENT COMMUNITY IN THE CITY FOR GOD’S KINGDOM
SERIES SUMMARY:
There are three ways we can choose to live our lives as a community in this city. We can choose to first of all live a life of reclusion. This is when we build walls around us to isolate ourselves. Often driven by fear.
Secondly, we can choose to live a life of retaliation, often driven by a need to win. This is when we desire to conquer the world with crafty arguments. When we choose to retaliate, we tend to develop an attitude of blaming others and correcting their faults. By doing this, people begin to see us as disagreeable and argumentative. This easily creates ‘them vs. us’ scenarios, which are never helpful.
Thirdly, we can choose to live a life of reconciliation, driven by a desire to bring healing to the world. This mirrors the teachings of Jesus, embracing the approach of not counting people’s failures against them. It involves tearing down walls instead of building them, allowing others to come in. It’s about repairing broken relationships with those around us. This is the way of the incarnation where we don’t live as though we are of the world but living in the world for Jesus.

SERIES SUMMARY
There’s no part of your life that doesn’t matter to God. We often live as though some aspects of our lives matter more to God than others. The same applies to our actions. Sometimes, we think certain actions matter more to God than others. The same goes for what we say; there are times when we act as though
some things matter more to God than others, or that the way we say some things matters more to God than the way we say others.
This perspective is not only a distorted view of your life, but it’s also a dangerous one. Scripture says, ‘So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God,’ which means that there’s nothing you are doing today, will do tomorrow, or say, or consider that does not matter to God.
Every area of your life matters to God. This is what sets Christians apart from everyone else. While others may be working or doing things for themselves or someone else, Christians do everything for God’s glory, regardless of what they are doing, saying, or who they are working for. Christians do not take a break from glorifying God. For believers, every single word or action is an opportunity to glorify God. Believers see their life as a canvas that God uses to paint His masterpiece.
This sermon series will focus on helping people embrace God’s perspective on how He sees the world, so that we can live as God intends us to and learn to see our lives as God’s masterpiece.
When we live according to God’s way, we glorify Him, but when we live according to our own ways, we miss out on experiencing what can change us and our world.

Observing Jesus from a distance, one might perceive Him as merely a good teacher or a man with noble principles who calls everyone to experience love. However, upon drawing closer to Jesus, one realizes that He is not only a good teacher but also possesses profound beauty. Moreover, you come to understand that He is someone who can not only change you but also transform lives in amazing and profound ways.
Merely approaching Jesus and appreciating His beauty is wonderful, yet what’s even more powerful is allowing His beauty to impact your life. What’s truly exceptional is when you permit His beauty to bring about a deeper transformation within you. To perceive Jesus as beautiful but not to let His beauty change you would be to miss out.
The good news however is that Jesus doesn’t only want His beauty to change us but He also wants His beauty to be reflected in us and through us.
- – Jesus does not only want us to see Him alive, He wants us to be alive.
- – Jesus does not only want us to see Him healing others, He wants us to be healed.
- – Jesus does not only want us to see Him bring eyesight to the blind, He wants us to see. Jesus moves in the direction of His purpose. You are a part of God’s purpose, and He moves in the direction where you can encounter Him and be transformed by Him. The invitation is for you to draw closer to Him, so you can genuinely experience His beauty.
