Toni Collier is the founder of an international women’s ministry called Broken Crayons Still Color, which helps women process through brokenness and get to hope. She serves alongside her husband Sam who is the Lead Pastor of Hillsong Atlanta. Toni is a speaker, host, and consultant that has helped organizations with creative marketing, leadership, student ministry, and strategic planning. She’s had the opportunity to proudly stand on stages like North Point Community Church, Chick-Fil-A, IF Gathering, Orange Conference, and MomCon. Toni kills illusions. She confronts the hard things. She takes her challenges head-on, then she takes on your challenges. And, in this digital age of anxiety, Toni is teaching people all over the globe that you can be broken and worthy and unqualified and still called to do great things. She doesn’t want you to just face your demons, she wants you to quash the illusion of your brokenness so you can live the most colorful life possible, on and off stage.

Christina Custodio and I have had many conversations about race. You can start with the first episode here.
In Episode 10 of Careful Conversations, we talked about younger generations. Christina and I have talked about our daughters - her daughter Abiranna and my step-daughter Madison - and their passion for justice. We decided to share this platform with them. Their passionate voices need to be heard.
I think every generation has "their thing", whether it's civil rights, anti-war, anti-racism. There's something they are passionate about that the older generations just don't"get". But, you know what? Those voices get heard and those younger kids make a difference.
We are excited to share our daughters with you now!

Jessica Courtney is Vice President of International programs and cofounder of Preemptive Love, along with her husband, Jeremy.
In the earliest days, as Preemptive Love focused on serving children with heart defects, helping them get the therapy and surgeries they needed, Jessica was with families every step of the way, serving as their translator, advocate, and guide.
In 2016, Jessica spearheaded the launch of Preemptive Love’s Sisterhood Collective and the Kinsman brand, bringing refugee-made soap, candles, and other handcrafted products to North America—and empowering Iraqi and Syrian women and men, who lost everything to war, to own their own businesses. Today she leads Preemptive Love’s relief, jobs, and community development programs teams that currently serve in the Middle East, Latin America, and North America, building the most diverse community of peacemakers on the planet.

Christina Custodio and I became friends when she shared her story in Episode 39 of Known. I happen to be a white woman and she happens to be a black woman, but we are both women of faith.
This time we are in is a time of hope, but also a time of fear and confusion for many. Christina and I decided to ask each other the hard questions and say the hard things and share it with you so you feel a little more free to do the same.
In the final episode of this series, we are talking about how we both feel the same way, but differently about talking about our own experiences and perspectives. We both feel like we can't say things, but for different reasons. What do you feel like you can't say out loud? What feelings do you feel guilty for?

Episode 10 - can you believe we've already shared 10 conversations? "Perhaps you were born for a time such as this" from Esther 4:14 carries some meaning for Gen Z, if you ask Christina and me. Do you remember what you thought when Colin Kaepernick kneeled for the National Anthem? I had strong feelings, then mixed emotions, and now an appreciation for his intent. Changing your mind requires some humility and that's really hard! But really, aren't we called to love our neighbor as ourselves? That is the greatest call to humility there is!

Episode 8 focuses on the pain as the root of what may feel like chaos and we identify the true enemy. We were never designed to fight against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12.We may not agree with each other all the time. And you might not agree with either of us, but isn't that the beauty of diversity? What we can agree on is that we love Jesus, He loves us and we all need Him now!

Episode 7 has a lot of hard questions for me, as a white woman to say out loud to Christina, a black woman. Are we making progress? How do we know George Floyd's murder an act of racism? Why was that the tipping point? As usual, Christina answers my questions with honesty and patience.

Episode 4 is a reminder to point people to Jesus. That's the only thing that's really going to bring about difference. What Would Jesus Do? You can't change someone else, but you can make room for God to do the changing.
We may not agree with each other all the time. And you might not agree with either of us, but isn't that the beauty of diversity? What we can agree on is that we love Jesus, He loves us and we all need Him now!
Some of the topics are our own thoughts, but many are what we have heard from others. If there is a topic you want us to discuss or that you want to challenge us on, please send an email or find us on social media.

Episode 2 will give you a little more information about our own backgrounds. Each and every one of us (in the world) have a special set of experiences that define our perspective on every issue. Race isn't an exception to the rule. We must consider our own perspective as well as the perspective of the person we are trying to communicate with. "Put yourself in someone else's shoes."

Sherilyn Garner is the founder of A Friend of Mind. A Friend of Mind (AFM) was created to help youth accept and manage their mental illness and eliminate mental health stigma.
This time of year is full of joy and fun for many, but not for everyone. A change in routine or the stress of family can lead to depression and/or anxiety. Sherilyn helps us think of ways to talk about our feelings and address them in a proactive way. We also discuss how to recognize the signs of depression, anxiety, and mental illness in our own children.

Cathy is a breast cancer survivor and so are about 3.8 million other women. In this episode, Cathy shares her personal perspective on going through the physical and spiritual battles of beating cancer. We also talk about a drunk driver crashing into her home, so there's that!
I am privileged to be one of Cathy's Chemosabes - what her friends and "family" called ourselves as we walked with her. Odds are, you know someone who has fought or is fighting against this disease. Please share this source of wisdom in navigating the illness for everyone involved.
We were so busy laughing at the end of the episode that I FORGOT TO ASK MY QUESTION THAT I ALWAYS ASK!!! Cathy was so kind to send me her answer to "what do you know about God that the rest of us may not know?"
Cathy said: "I honestly don’t know if there’s anything I know about God that others don’t. But the closest I probably come to unique wisdom is this: God will show up in a tangible, physical way at the darkest of times. He certainly sent friends to me at key times that filled needs, even needs I don’t know I had yet. But what I mean is that I, literally, felt His presence in a way I never had before. I think He blessed me with being better attuned to His presence. His presence is bigger than I have the words to describe, but the best I can say is it is overwhelming love and peace, despite circumstances. Knowing this has given me a new perspective on life. I used to be a worrier but now I know that so little in this world ultimately matters. I’m probably not expressing this very well but, like I said, I lack the words to adequately express myself. "
