The start of book 3 - the prophet - starts in the dank hallways of Geidi Prime 2 years after the Arrakis Affair.
Jessica has agreed to take part in the ritual ceremony of becoming the tribe's new reverend mother - even though she has no idea what the ceremony is. All she knows is that not every one survives the ritual. Is if fair that she risk her life, and the life of her unborn daughter? She feels as if all here Bene Gesserit schooling has not prepared her for this moment - or did it?
Paul and Jessica have made it to Sietch Tabr. Safety. Jessica and Chani get whisked off to see the Reverend Mother of the Sietch, and Paul has some unfinished business because he killed Jamis in ritual combat.
Lady & Count Fenring visit Geidi Prime for Feyd's birthday party. The Emperor has some questions for the Baron on how things ended on Arrakis and the Bene Gesserit are interested in Feyd. FEYD IN THE ARENA

Jamis fights Paul to test if Paul & Jessica really are good for the tribe. In this chapter Paul walks into his name of Muad'dib and the course of the Fremen are forever changed.
the Cave of the Ridges - where does Jessica fit in the Fremen patriarchal world - and Paul has some food with a normal amount of spice (for a Fremen) but causes him to go on a crazy TRIP
Paul encounters Chani, the girl of his literal dreams - while Jessica fights to show how valuable she could be to the Fremen. Also Stilgar is really cool.
The Harkonnens always had a hard time killing Fremen. We meet Liet-Kynes wandering the sand dunes without a stillsuit slowly dying from heat exhaustion getting a lecture from his father, Pardot Kynes, about how Ecology works. In this episode lots of how the planet of Arrakis works gets explained and it is time to dig into the connection between Spice and the Worms.
Run! Paul and Jessica need to get across the desert without calling a worm. Paul's solution: call a worm!
Gurney is ALIVE, and with the Smugglers on Arrakis. Will Gurney band with the smugglers now that he believes ALL the Atreides are dead.
Paul and Jessica have given the Harkonnen's the slip by riding a sand storm. Now as they get jettisoned from the storm they now are in the Deep Desert learning to survive. This chapter has it all. Worms. Running. Foam. & lots of Sand.
The Baron Safe in his Egg gets news that Paul and Jessica are certainly dead & hatches a new plan without Piter.
DUNCAN has arrived with Kynes who scurry the New Duke & Jessica into their Fremen Ecological Testing stations where Kynes will need to decide - Does he give up Paul and Jessica to the Harkonnens to buy some extra time, or does it put his allegiance with this 15 year old boy - the only representation of the Dukedom left on Arrakis?
We met up with Thufir and an Unnamed Fremen in a rock outcropping. Thufir was not in Arrakeen when the invasion happened and got out with 300 troops. After fighting all night Thufir only has 20 men left and half of them are badly injured.
The Start of Book 2 - MuadDib - we pick up where we left off with Paul and Jessica in the tent - Duncan isn't here yet so its time to go.
Paul and Jessica have narrowly escaped the Attack on Arrakeen with help of the Traitor, and now on the other side of the shield wall...alone.
The Baron has done it - he has regained control of the planet of Arrakis, with the secret help of the Emperor's Sardaukar. Now it is time for him to have his moment with his nemesis, the Duke Leto, and gloat over his victory and dominance in the Imperium.
Yeuh let down the shields letting the legions of Harkonnen and Sardaukar enter the planet and the Arrakeen Palace, giving up the Duke to the Baron, but what does he do next...

2AM in the morning Thufir thinks Jessica is the Traitor. Jessica thinks there is no Traitor and the threat comes from elsewhere. Unfortunately we, the audience, know they are both wrong.
Kynes has switched sides, and now we get to play planetary politics at Dinner, as if imperial politics wasn't enough. And we are pretty sure Duke Leto is losing it, or extremely smart.
"And he must have a strong sense of the sardonic. This is what uncouples him from belief in his own pretensions. The sardonic is all that permits him to move within himself. Without this quality, even occasional greatness will destroy a man."

On the first say when Muad’Dib rode through the streets of Arrakeen with his family, some of the people along the way recalled the legends and the prophecy and they ventured to shout: “Mahdi!” But their shout was more a question than a statement, for as yet they could only hope he was the one foretold as the Lisan al-Gaib, the Voice from the Outer World. Over the exit of the Arrakeen landing field crudely carved as though a poor instrument, there was an inscription that Muad’Dib was to repeat many times. He saw it that first night on Arrakis, having been brought to the ducal command post to participate in his father’s first full staff conference. The words on the inscription were a plea to those leaving Arrakis, but they fell with dark import on the eyes of a boy who had just escaped a close brush with death. It is said that the Duke Leto blinded himself to the perils of Arrakis, that he walked heedlessly into the pit. Would it not be more likely to suggest he had lived so long in the presence of extreme danger he misjudged a change in its intensity? Or is it possible he deliberately sacrificed himself that his son might find a better life?
