In this episode, ex-ComedySoc president Sam Jones teaches us all about his dissertation, which aimed to explain a recent trend in stand-up comedy. He noticed that across the last decade many comics were building shows around more serious and personal topics, often discussing trauma, grief, mental health in their material. We look into this more, and analyse the future of this trend.

“Stuck In An Elevator With...” is an improv based talk show - but it’s not like your regular late nights. The host, Bart Hutchman, is an unhinged media obsessed loser in desperate need of a guest for his failing talk show. Every episode, Hutchman traps a new unwilling guest in a broken down elevator and forces them to answer his uncomfortable questions and participate in his unoriginal games.
In this episode, Hutchman has entrapped... Eleanor Finch! A funny and talented comedian and member of The Shambles improv group. As she struggles against his invasive questions, the two argue about cockroaches, Café Nero loyalty cards and a man named Frisbee Tim.
People have fought for millennia over the world's biggest questions. What is the meaning of life? Is there a God? Can my Dad beat up your Dad? Well, life is meaningless and God has abandoned us so let's have a go at that third one. In Dad Wars, two contestants must battle it out in hypothetical debate format to prove once and for all, that their Dad could beat up the other person's Dad. GUYS is the smell of a home-cooked meal, it’s your first kiss, and it’s the DFS summer sale. GUYS is the worst mistake you ever made, and GUYS is the way out.
It’s easier to tell you what it isn’t, honestly.

Goodness me, it's now week 3! Speeding along faster than a hyperactive bullet train, it's all we at ComedySoc can do to keep up with your unquenchable thirst for quality comedy content.
