This episode was previously recorded on January 9th, 2023 for our clients. Here I discuss how for the first time in about 12 years, Emerging Markets flipped "positive" against technology, and will likely outperform US domestic markets on a RELATIVE basis in the foreseeable future.
Relative strength measures the performance of one security in comparison to another. For example, how Microsoft is performing compared to the S&P 500, or how the U.S. Dollar is doing relative to the Euro. It doesn't promise positive gains. It just means if for example US markets are +10%; Emerging markets should be up slightly more. If Emerging markets are -5%; then we can anticipate US domestics to be down more than -5%. It's a relationship between two similar assets classes.

These companies are "frozen" after the attack as the network and data files have been encrypted and held hostage. Hackers request Bitcoin as the preferred method of payment for releasing an encryption key to unlock the files. Don't think for a moment only a few rogue hackers around the globe are holding computer data files hostage. Cyber-attacks is a big, lucrative business occasionally sponsored by a Nation State. Ransomware as a Service (RaaS) is actually a thing! Dan offers several tips on how to avoid being the victim of a cyber attack.

I'm not sure if there has ever been such a liquidation of digital assets since the 2018 crypto winter. The liquidation punished many interesting and exciting projects. Here are some of the tokens listed on Coinbase. Is this panic selling? Year end profit taking? Is pending regulation going to suffocate our chance of being able to monetize the greatest technology innovation modern civilization has ever known?

Bitcoin and Ethereum + 36% over the last month, but -11% and -4.5% on the week, sine the ProShares ETF was introduced. Shiba Inu is + 1,000% or so since it was introduced on the Coinbase platform September 16th, 2021 and + 3,871% YTD.
It’s a meme token introduced as a "joke" like Dogecoin but is now pivoting in the Non-Fungible token space and burning a lot of their supply of tokens.

Today the Proshares launched an Exchange Traded Fund with the symbol $BITO whose performance is linked to the performance of the Bitcoin futures traded at the Chicago Mercantile Group. The fund does not invest directly in bitcoin. Expense ratio is 0.95%.
This is a way to invest in Bitcoin indirectly, and I suspect by this time next year each of the dozen or so ETF sponsors will list some form of a Bitcoin or cryptocurrency. This is the first domino tipping over a long train of dominoes of a 1,000 cryptocurrency projects like Web 3.0, Interoperability, 5G networks, Gaming, and decentralized finance!
