All good things eventually come to an end and that same rule applies to me. So I’m afraid it’s time to announce that ‘Cornucopia Radio’ will no longer produce any new audio material, it’s also ceasing to broadcast it’s 24/7 internet radio stream or have any future social media presence.
It’s been a really good 17+ years and I’ve worked with hundreds of different writers and performers and together we’ve created a brilliant mix of work from within the heart of Sheffield. However new productions have been much slower to get produced over the past 3-4 years (as I moved onto other creative interests), so now seems like a good time to bring the curtain down on everything.
However I still strongly believe in all the work that has been created on this website. So nothing will be removed or deleted from this site or the podcast feeds, and everything will still be available for anyone to listen to, and share with everybody.… Read the rest

He’d been at “Fast Kill” for six years, and had already learnt so much about pest eradication. Including making plans, setting traps, laying bait and establishing kill zones. So he was confident in quitting to start his own pest control company under the name “Rapid Kill Solutions”.
He soon discovered his first day working for himself would involve a potential cockroach infestation. He thought it would be easy. He was wrong…

‘The Killer Mine’ is based on the novel of the same name by Hammond Innes. It was originally adapted into an episode of the 1951 CBS OTR radio series ‘Escape’ (the story from the novel heavily condensed to fit into the 30 minute format). It has been slightly re-written, edited and directed for 2023 by Peter Beeston. It has been remade for this years ‘Sonic Society’ summerstock festival in which modern audio-fiction groups take on the challenge of remaking classic ‘Old Time Radio’ shows.

I often have people send me small bits of flash fiction, short stories and poetry. So I’ve decided to create a new project in which I occasionally take the most interesting work that I’m sent, and bring my own interpretations to these pieces
Each production will be around 1-2 minutes in length and will feature a different voice performer each time. The audio will be mixed with a suitable musical track, and an abstract video will be created in which the spoken text will be overlaid over the visuals.
I purposely create the mood and the visuals based on what the piece means to me when I read it. I believe that when you adapt another persons idea, you create a unique amalgamation; something that couldn’t exist by itself.

Dr Kennedy is a guilt-ridden psychiatrist, who is reviewing old recordings of his former patient Alisha in the hopes of solving the mystery of Ravenscourt. At the time he easily dismissed Alisha’s assertion that Ravenscourt was bound to evil. However many years later, his faith in that assertion and even reality itself, is starting to crumble.
Because somehow the deserted asylum has started calling to him in his dreams….
“Ravenscourt” is a gothic horror influenced ghost story about a psychiatrist who is haunted by past mistakes, the patient he failed and the place he now believes may have played a role in all of it. The story is inspired by St Anne’s Asylum in Cork City. The now derelict building was built in the 1850s and the “corridor asylum” is said to be one of the longest buildings in Europe.
This ongoing Lovecraftian tale, written by David Horgan is brought to life by thespian actor Mark D’Aughton and Irene Kelleher (Game of Thrones).… Read the rest
