Four officers were killed in a shooting while attempting to serve a warrant at a home in Charlotte, North Carolina, including one deputy US marshal and two local task force officers, authorities say.
A total of eight law enforcement officers were shot during the incident, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said at a Monday evening news conference. He described the shooting as “the most tragic one” he had been involved with in his 32-year-long law enforcement career.
The shooting unfolded in the 5000 block of Galway Drive as members of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force were serving a warrant for possession of firearm by a convicted felon, Jennings said.

I wanted to give my spin on the drama this happening with P. Diddy. My comments are these are the unintended consequences of doing evil at a high-level and never thinking that one day you would be brought to account for what you have done. I hope people are looking at this through a spiritual lens because this is the time of exposure and P. Diddy is just the tip of the iceberg of the Domino’s that will fall this year. We’re living in a different time now where everything that has been hidden in the dark will come to the light because time is up For that type of behavior..... pay attention to what’s happening because it may be at our doorstep one day if we don’t stop what we are doing, in our own personal lives .

Janet McCullough opened Charlotte Spa and Esthetics in 2017, her dream was to help others feel good by teaching them the importance of a good skin routine.
“Skincare is very important. It could make someone have a lack of self-esteem if their skin is not together.
The Texas native decided to open the business after she was laid off from a previous job and realized that she needed to have more than one source of income. (She’s also a licensed insurance agent and a certified revenue cycle analyst for a local healthcare company.) McCullough said she also was inspired by the fact that Americans are getting older, and with aging comes the need for better skin care.
McCullough describes business ownership as a journey.
In 2019, McCullough launched a non-profit called Silent Touch Therapy, an initiative she uses to teach cancer patients about skin care.
“I started thinking about how else could I use my skincare,” she said. “So, I started volunteering with the American Cancer Society — the Look Good, Feel Better program — working with cancer patients on how to care for their skin.

Amadu Massally is our guest today. He is the CEO and co-founder of Fambul Tiki and he is from Sierra Leone, a country in West Africa, that is bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean. It is known for the white-sand beaches lining the Freetown Peninsula. And also as one that has minerals! The main ones being diamonds, gold, bauxite, rutile, limonite, and iron. We are also blessed with rich fauna and flora and have some unique hippopotamuses, over a hundred bird species, and even rare chimpanzees.
But one of the most interesting things about this country is how it helped to shape some parts of the world via the Transatlantic Slave Trade. And the formation of the capital city, Freetown, it is arguable, one of the most fascinating stories out there with regard to the establishment of capital cities, the world over. It is also the only country in Africa that can clearly show a two-way connection with the Gullah-Geechee people of South Carolina and Georgia to date. Sierra Leone has another two-way connection with the Maroons of Jamaica. We will explore some of those connections on these pages. While this is not well-known today, Sierra Leonean has a two-way connection with Trinidad and Tobago. Carriacou, Grenada; and Halifax, NS are also connections to Sierra Leone that Fambul Tik has explored.

I want you to look at a couple of points in my podcast talk about how the NCAA saw Deion Sanders as a threat to take away top-tier recruits away from division 1 power five football programs. How do you kill a dream that Black people have of the top black athletes going to black colleges and Deion Sanders was the Pied Piper…You come straight in their desires with money. Now the Pied Piper is working for them at Colorado and he gave up his independence for a $5 million a year payday… And now the pipeline of black talent to black colleges may dissolve and that’s what white supremacy wants....White supremacy says that from generation to generation to generation you will always have to come to us to supply a deep desires for success money fame and a place beside the slave master and his children so that you would think that you are equal to them but when you give up your independence and they kick you out on your butt you have nobody to blame but yourself… we have to be critical thinkers today...All money ain't good money

“At the age of 90, I am birthing my book baby, ‘It's How You Handle It: Life’s Journey.’ While nurturing the contents of my biography, I walked right into a global Covid-19 pandemic. Many people were rudely awakened to find that diseases inside their bodies made them more vulnerable to contracting the virus. Even worst, it was revealed that African Americans were disproportionately more affected due to centuries of systemic inequities. The disregard for our needs caused many unfavorable health conditions called comorbidities, which integrated with the coronavirus and killed people fast and in large numbers. I was at risk because I had almost every pre-condition. My family history could reveal the patterns that led to this moment, but no in-depth stories had/have been written in the history books that I taught from. Now I know why my mother kept telling me stories of my family history, why I kept telling my children these stories, and why I must share with you,” shared Eloise Purdie passionately.
Eloise is faced with life’s ultimatum; reveal her history and the lessons it holds or risk it being lost to the world forever. In her story, “It’s How You Handle It: Life’s Journey,”Eloise tries her best to live to the fullest expression of herself, like her role model, Oprah Winfrey. Oprah said that she used her media career to say how people, "...experience shame, how we love and how we rage, how we fail, how we retreat, persevere, and how we overcome." This book is notably a narrative of perseverance through savage odds. It details the ironic story of Eloise; a history teacher that lived through some of the darkest moments in history but was never able to contribute her life story to the curriculum.
This work started as a simple labor of love but ended up a brilliant blueprint on how to elevate oneself in spite of any circumstance. The candid details she is able to recall decades later are remarkable and it is a unique blessing that God has granted her to keep these stories in such pristine condition. The story of Eloise pays homage to her family and is likely the story of many African Americans during the early 1900s; as they did what they could to recover from an enormous interruption to their rich history and prestige. Following slavery, many African Americans could have sunk under the weight of all that was stripped from them, as well as, the lack of resources, health, wealth, and education. Those, like Eloise, who were able to overcome the unpalatable atrocities of that time, have important stories of determination, foresight, and strength that are important to share.
At our best, we are all teachers. A true teacher at heart, Eloise's story brings the past to life better than any textbook ever could. The truth matters.

A growing share of the pandemic's victims are vaccinated, as covid-19 deaths grow among the oldest Americans.
While many worried the pandemic's toll would shift toward younger people, the opposite actually occurred as the delta variant subsided and omicron surged.
There was a rise in deaths concentrated among the elderly, who have consistently been among the groups most vulnerable to the virus throughout the pandemic. While the vast majority of seniors are vaccinated, the shots’ potency wanes over time — particularly in older age groups.

Keith Smith has served in the state of North Carolina for over 30 years in various roles associated within the legal community. It was early in my career as a Probation Parole Officer, that I first realized my passion to help others in a way that was both fair and equitable while reinforcing accountability. That same commitment to fair-minded decision-making was later applied to my roles as an Assistant DA and as a Senior Associate Attorney with Mecklenburg County’s Department of Social Services. As an elected District Court Judge, I will adhere to the established rule of law while considering all matters in an impartial manner. I value the work ethic instilled in me by my parents who were of humble beginnings, as they stressed the importance of a strong education, but most importantly, treating people with respect and dignity. The justice system in the United States is an incredible forum and I look forward to applying my legal experience as a dedicated and committed public servant for the state of North Carolina.

Because some white dude is control of a business that you want to be apart of, if he says no to you, you are crushed.....Why is there only 1 black NFL? Because we are happy to have a seat at the table with white decision makers. They make you the big Negro among your peers because your crumbs are bigger than everybody else's. Black people must walk away from the control of white power. Create your own NFL. You are the talent. You need to control it from top to bottom. There is no NFL with you!

The island of Oahu is known for its beaches and tourist attractions, but its buzzing film community isn’t far behind. On the heels of the island’s outstanding, “Ala Moana Boys,” a film by writer Alexander Deedy and directed by Keli’I Grace, a local production company, Eagle Brook Entertainment, will premiere it’s film, “3 Days Leave,” at Pearl Ridge’s Consolidated Theatre on November 18th.
Filmed on island with local talent and crew, this premiere will be a first time reveal to them as well.
“Each character within this project was forced outside of their comfort zones to become characters that didn’t reconcile with their own. It will be our extreme pleasure for them to see how it all played out,” says 3 Days Leave Writer, Producer, Director E.W. Brooks.
“We’re a new presence here on island but we were able to hire 10 crewmembers from the community and to pour into local businesses by utilizing their rentals. This is what it's about for me as a business owner, said Eagle Brook CFO, Anthony Brooks, “that is the magic behind the scenes. That’s what makes it worth it".
Local Female Cinematographer, Jannis Ortegon and Hawaii 50 Actress Judy Nguyen were a part of the cast and crew, just over 50% female. “If we all do our part to tip the scales toward equality in the workplace, maybe we can look up one day and see something different out there,” says the film’s Director.
3 Days Leave takes a hyperbolic look at police violence through a Rambo-centric lens. However, its creators are clear, “Don’t think you know our stance because you’ve seen our art. Our goal was to create a piece that would push the dialogue forward. That is it and that is all,” says Writer E.W. Brooks.

Andrew Brown Jr.'s son describes what he saw on police video 05:37
Elizabeth City, North Carolina (CNN)Six days after Andrew Brown Jr. was fatally shot by police, protesters gathered again Monday to call for the release of the body camera footage they hope will answer questions surrounding his death.
Peaceful demonstrations have taken place in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, since Wednesday, the day the 42-year-old Black man was fatally shot by Pasquotank County sheriff's deputies, who according to authorities were attempting to serve him an arrest warrant.
Protesters have called for the release of police bodycam footage, which authorities say they are prevented from making public without a court order. Brown's family was shown footage Monday though the clip was only 20 seconds long, said family attorney Chantel Cherry-Lassiter who was also shown the video.

Men and Women are accepting their responsibility to make their communities a safe and peaceful place to live. Due to serious economical time there has been an increase of gun violence and crime with most of its victims being women and children. The safety of the women, children and elderly in the community must be paramount.
There must be a collective effort from all religious, social, law enforcement and grass root organizations to bring peace to these communities. Peace is the common denominator that allows us to transcend above our religious, political and racial differences.
We all want Peace in our homes, community and in the world. But there is no Peace when there is no justice. We must work hard to establish justice for all regardless of class, greed, or color. Where there is Love and harmony there is Peace of mind. We believe when peace is present, violence is absent. Peace is not just the absence of war or violence, but peace is the absence of conflicts, and all conflicts are not violent.
We all must as Peacekeepers eliminate these conflicts so that we can together to create an environment of peace.

An ugly family exchange was thrust into public view Saturday when Kirk Franklin’s estranged son published audio of the gospel legend berating him in a profanity-laden phone call that ends with his father screaming, “I will break your neck. Don’t you ever disrespect me.”
The elder Franklin, 51, is a beloved and influential figure in the gospel music world and is widely credited with popularizing modern gospel in the mainstream. He posted an apology to his fans later that night that drew even more attention — and polarized reactions — to the rancorous father-son exchange. By Sunday, “Kirk Franklin” was a Twitter trending topic.
Kerrion Franklin, 32, posted a clip of the exchange on Instagram on Saturday and included a caption that said he doesn’t feel safe around his father. “I don’t think I’ll ever trust my father to be alone around him ever again,” he wrote.

On this episode George Floyds Slwyn Jones speaks to us.
Selwyn Jones’ nephew, George Floyd, died in police custody Monday in Minneapolis after an officer kneeled on his neck for several minutes while Floyd laid handcuffed on the street.
A bystander video shows that Floyd yelled out multiple times that he couldn’t breathe, and the footage sparked national protest, including a demonstration set in Rapid City which Jones plans to attend this weekend.
The four officers involved in the case have been fired as the incident remains under investigation by the FBI and state law enforcement. Derek Chauvin, the officer shown in the video kneeling on Floyd's neck, was charged Friday with third degree murder.
“It’s pretty bad when you wake up and see (that) video in the news,” said Jones, a 54-year-old man from Gettysburg, South Dakota. “I’m thinking, 'Wow, not again.' Then my wife looks at me and says, 'You know who that is?'”First Challenge in George Floyd Murder Trial: Finding an Impartial Jury
Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Monday in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former police officer charged in connection with Mr. Floyd’s death.
Jury selection is set to begin on Monday, in a courtroom built to comply with pandemic protocols and outfitted with television cameras. Mr. Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Before his trial begins, he could face an additional charge of third-degree murder, the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled on Friday, in a decision that could delay the start of jury selection because Mr. Chauvin has the option to appeal.

Mr. Knowles generates awareness about COVID-19 & the importance of social distancing with new PSA video that he produced thru his label Music World Entertainment: https://vimeo.com/409994280
Mathew Knowles is best known for managing Destiny’s Child and grooming his daughters Beyoncé and Solange to mega stardom from his indie label Music World Entertainment.
2020 was supposed to be the year of Destiny’s Child’s return but things have now changed due to COVID19. Mathew was planning to produce Survivor: Destiny’s Child The Musical based on the girl group that he famously created & managed. The show was originally scheduled to premiere in their hometown in Houston Texas later in the year followed by a premiere in London and then Broadway but they has all been pushed back til 2021
Mathew’s latest book was released earlier in the year called Destiny’s Child The Untold Story followed by Girls Tyme Unreleased Album. The book is avail now for purchase on mathewknowles.com and album on Amazon.
Mathew was diagnosed with Stage ONE Breast Cancer back in July. He discovered a tiny red dot on his white t-shirt and thought it was nothing but it appeared again which led him to get tested for the BRCA gene. Mathew had a mastectomy and is currently Cancer-Free but is considering to get another mastectomy on his second breast. Mathew decided to go public about his diagnosis to help save lives since most men would never think to get tested for Breast Cancer. Early detection is so important and has saved his life.
Mathew is now happily remarried to former model Gena Avery & has a wonderful relationship with his ex-wife Tina & two daughters and prefers to just be “dad” and “granddaddy” these days.

The NFL Will Play 'Lift Every Voice And Sing' Before Each Season-Opener Game. The song known as the Black national anthem will play at the start of every season opener game, coming before "The Star Spangled Banner.
"Lift Every Voice and Sing" was written as a poem by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson, and set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johnson in 1899.
It was first performed in 1900 at a segregated school in Florida by a group of children commemorating the birthday of President Abraham Lincoln. Subsequent landmark performances in the intervening decades include those by Kim Weston in 1972, Melba Moore in 1990, Gladys Knight and BeBe Winans in 2012 and Beyoncé in 2018.
In addition to her Tony Award, Moore's music career brought additional accolades. She was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1971 for 'Best New Artist'. Her 1975 second album, Peach Melba, saw her get a Grammy nomination. In 1976, she earned another Grammy nomination for Best Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance - Female for the song "Lean on Me",.[19] Moore was also nominated for Best Female Rock Vocal in 1986 for "Read My Lips". Moore is also the 2012 Recipient of the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival Theatre Legend Award. Moore was inducted into the Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame on October 4, 2015, in Detroit.
Moore received the prestigious 2015 Sandy Hosey Lifetime Achievement Award during the Artists Music Guild's 2015 AMG Heritage Awards broadcast held on November 14, 2015, in North Carolina.[20] Ms. Moore stars in the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe's production of "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill" to great acclaim in the sold-out run.

Trump shared the video on his @realDonaldTrump account, which has more than 82 million followers, with the message, "Thank you to the great people of The Villages." The tweet was deleted about three hours later following an uproar over the phrase "white power," a racist slogan used by white supremacists.

Members of Congress put themselves on a collision course with the White House on Thursday over the politics of America's Confederate legacy.
The Republican-led Senate Armed Services Committee adopted an amendment that would create a commission charged with renaming Army installations that bear Confederate names and removing their Confederate symbols.
A bipartisan team of House members, both veterans, proposed something similar.
LIVE UPDATES: PROTESTS FOR RACIAL JUSTICE Gen. Mark Milley Says Accompanying Trump To Church Photo-Op Was A Mistake And House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., reiterated her call for members of Congress to enact legislation that would purge the Capitol of Confederate statues. The speaker told reporters she didn't believe she has the power to do so herself — effectively daring the Republicans who control the Senate to go along.
"Believe me, if I had more authority we'd have fewer of those statues around," Pelosi told reporters Thursday.
The speaker can move statues around within the Capitol but not take them out of it, she said.

HOUSTON – Relatives and elected leaders spoke passionately at Tuesday's funeral for George Floyd, demanding reforms and justice for a black man whose death has shaken the world.
About 500 friends, family, politicians and entertainers streamed into The Fountain of Praise church in Houston for what co-pastor Mia Wright called, "a home-going celebration of brother George Floyd's life.''
The emotional service, which rang with gospel music and calls to ensure that Floyd did not die in vain, was widely broadcast and streamed online.
“I want justice for my brother, for my big brother, that's Big Floyd,” Rodney Floyd said. “Everyone is going to remember him around the world. He's going to change the world.”
Those words were echoed throughout the service in remarks by several of the invited guests, a list that included Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee and Rep. Al Green.

Washington (AFP) - Protesters defied curfews across the United States as leaders scrambled to stem anger over police racism while President Donald Trump rejected criticism over his use of force to break up a peaceful rally.
Standoffs between police and demonstrators stretched into the night in cities from New York to Los Angeles over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed African-American man whose killing has brought once-in-a-generation protests to the nation for the past week.
But there were fewer reports of the looting and violence that had soured street demonstrations in previous nights.
Tens of thousands gathered earlier Tuesday in Houston to pay a hometown tribute to Floyd, who grew up in the Texas city and is to be buried there next week.
"Today is... about George Floyd's family -- we want them to know that George did not die in vain," Mayor Sylvester Turner told an estimated 60,000 people.
A tearful Roxie Washington, the mother of Floyd's six-year-old daughter, told a news conference she wanted "justice for him because he was good.
"No matter what anybody thinks, he was good."
In New York, which on Tuesday prolonged its first curfew since World War II for the full week, AFP reporters saw hundreds refusing to go home after the 8:00 pm cutoff, instead chanting slogans and peacefully walking the streets in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Hours after the curfew, mayor Bill de Blasio said it was a "very calm situation," a day after several Manhattan luxury stores were looted.
"So far, the curfew is certainly helping, based on everything I've seen in Brooklyn and Manhattan over the last three hours," he tweeted.
Minnesota took one of the first concrete actions to address the grievances behind the uprising, which began after Floyd's death on May 25 in the state's largest city Minneapolis.

An FBI investigation is underway and four officers have been fired following a fatal encounter Monday between Minneapolis police and an unarmed black man.
In a statement early Tuesday, police said the man had a medical incident during an attempted arrest. However, video of the encounter shows an officer with his knee on the man’s neck for at least seven minutes. Before the man loses consciousness, he repeatedly tells officers that he can’t breathe.
Leaders in Minnesota are calling for the officers involved to be held accountable. Rep. Ilhan Omar, who represents Minneapolis, called for the Department of Justice to investigate immediately.
“It is sickening to watch this black man be killed while helplessly begging for help,” she said in a statement.
Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan also reacted to the incident, calling the video “disturbing” and demanding justice.
“The lack of humanity in this disturbing video is sickening. We will get answers and seek justice,” Walz said.

A CDC study released Wednesday found that over 80% of the COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Georgia last month were black. It's the latest analysis showing that communities of color are being hit disproportionately hard by the coronavirus.
The study comes just days after Georgia Governor Brian Kemp started reopening some of the state's businesses — a move condemned as premature and dangerous by local black leaders as well as public health officials and even President Trump.
The study from the CDC, which is headquartered in Atlanta, surveyed eight hospitals in the state — seven in the Atlanta metro area and one southern Georgia. In the sample of 305 COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized in March, 247 — or 83.2% — were black. By comparison, 32 patients (10.8%) were white, 10 (3.4%) were Hispanic and eight (2.7%) were Asian or Pacific Islander.
"The proportion of hospitalized patients who were black was higher than expected based on overall hospital admissions," the study says.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on Wednesday expressed her disagreement with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp's decision to re-open the state, claiming it will be "deadly" for many people in her community.
"It concerns me deeply that we are still seeing an upward trend in our state and we are rushing to reopen businesses," she said on CBSN.
"What I've said is I hope the governor is right and I'm wrong, because if he's wrong more people will die," Bottoms added.

As the U.S. economy continued to worsen dramatically with another staggering jobless claims report out Thursday, President Donald Trump said Thursday some states could start reopening "literally tomorrow." Trump's plan to re-open the American economy after a near-total shutdown consists of three graduated phases. In a call with governors, state leaders were instructed that they could move through the guidelines at their own pace and that the guidelines are not formal orders from the federal government, according to a person familiar with the call. "Encouraging developments have put us in a very strong position to finalize guidelines for states on reopening the country," Trump said earlier Thursday, as the U.S. death toll from the coronavirus pandemic neared 30,000 Wednesday evening.

NORTH CAROLINA — The number of cases of novel coronavirus, also know as COVID-19, in North Carolina jumped by more than 100 overnight, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
The news comes hours after Mecklenburg County health officials confirm that as many as a third of the county's 106 cases come from community spread. Community spread means the person came in contact with COVID-19 through unknown means and not through travel or by direct contact with someone who has tested positive.
"Every zip code in our county now has a positive case," Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio said in the town hall Monday. "And what that tells us is we do have community spread." Since health officials are unable to determine the source of the spread, residents must treat every interaction as a potential source of COVID-19 exposure, she said, the Charlotte Observer reported.

I felt so sorry for Kobe Bryant‘s parents during the funeral during the memorial service this past week… I couldn’t imagine feeling like a stranger at my own child’s funeral… They look like invited guest… We don’t know the inside of the workings of their relationship but in this episode we give different scenarios of the parent child relationship when the child is the breadwinner of the family... Should the parents lean on the financial security of what their child can give them… is it worth being at odds with our child if we feel they don’t give back what we think we deserve as parents

I wanted to write a poem but it ended up being a love letter about my relationship with my wife… I’ve been knowing my wife now for 35 years...we met in 1985 at Shaw University in Raleigh North Carolina… I was 20 years old she was 18 years old from South Plainfield New Jersey and I was a country boy from Goldsboro North Carolina born and raised in rual North Carolina… I remember the first time I saw her I was in the men’s dormitory looking out of the window and suddenly she appeared walking across campus.....one of my best friends at that time was standing with me and when I opened my mouth I said that’s my wife right there..... I’ve never seen her before but I knew that was the woman that would be my wife… Sometimes when we’re together I keep reminding her of how much of a miracle that was that we are here today with a family out of a first time encounter... My son is 17 about to be 18 in March of this year… And I told him I believe the same thing is going to happen to you that happened to me and your mother. I have to tell you there’s nothing like knowing somebody loves you and there’s nothing like growing up together in love with a person that you knew so young... Even though we have had our ups and downs in our marriage but my wife has never ever put me down... when we’ve had a lack of money or circumstances turn dire she always was by my side... I never share anything on my personal side like this but I just felt compelled to do so it may help somebody in their marriage to go back and Fetch the feelings of affection that you had for one another and why you got together in the first place… Don’t give up on each other go back and remember why you started your relationship in the first place and be at peace with each other...

It's been said that his legacy is complicated because of a sexual assault charge, which was dismissed in 2003, 2004. Is it complicated for you as a woman, as a WNBA player?
It's not complicated for me at all. Even if there's a few times that we've been at a club at the same time, Kobe's not the kind of guy – never been, like, you know, 'Lis, go get that girl, or tell her or send her this.' I have other NBA friends that are like that. Kobe was never like that. I just never, have ever seen him being the kind of person that would do something to violate a woman or be aggressive in that way. That's just not the person that I know.
But Lisa, you wouldn't see it, though. As his friend, you wouldn't see it.
And that's possible.I just don't believe that. And I'm not saying things didn't happen. I just don't believe that things didn't happen with force.
Is it even a fair question to talk about it considering he's no longer with us and that it was resolved? Or is it really part of his history?
I think that the media should be more respectful at this time. It's like if you had questions about it, you had many years to ask him that. I don't think it's something that we should keep hanging over his legacy. I mean, it went to trial.
Yeah, well, the case was dismissed because the victim in the case refused to testify. So, it was dismissed.
And I think that that's how we should leave it.
Why do you think people are so deeply affected, in many cases, by a man they did not know?
I really think it's the idea that you rooted for him or you didn't, but that was an emotion evoked either way.
You know what I keep thinking Lisa, it was probably just another ordinary day for them. And then in seconds, your life is forever changed.
Forever changed. It reminded about the quote about joy and sorrow are inseparable. And it's when joy is awake, sorrow is asleep. And it's just that. Like, sorrow has been awakened in my life, in their lives – in the world's life.

"For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with an absolute devotion to winning," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement on Sunday. "He was one of the most extraordinary players in the history of our game with accomplishments that are legendary: five NBA championships, an NBA MVP award, 18 NBA All-Star selections, and two Olympic gold medals. But he will be remembered most for inspiring people around the world to pick up a basketball and compete to the very best of their ability. He was generous with the wisdom he acquired and saw it as his mission to share it with future generations of players, taking special delight in passing down his love of the game to Gianna."
Considering the impact that Bryant had on the game, and the fact that he had one of the most decorated careers in recent memory, the Hall's decision doesn't come as a surprise at all. However, the fact that Bryant won't be there himself will certainly put a damper on what would have been an otherwise celebratory evening. It's nice to know that Bryant will be where he belongs in the annals of basketball history surrounded by peers whose respect he earned through his dedication to the game, but it still stings that he won't get to experience the induction himself.

Don’t be embarrassed, cry with me, weep and wail and shout into the streets, fill a suddenly empty Los Angeles with your pain.
No. No. No, damn it, no!
Bryant, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were among nine people who died in a helicopter crash Sunday in Calabasas and how does that happen? Kobe is stronger than any helicopter. He didn’t even need a helicopter. For 20 years he flew into greatness while carrying a breathless city with him.
This can’t be true.
Kobe does not die. Not now. Kobe lives into his golden years, lives long enough to see his statues erected outside Staples Center and his jerseys inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He lives long enough to sit courtside at Staples when he’s stooped and gray, keeping alive the memories of two decades of greatness with a wink, maybe even fooling everyone one last time by retiring in a community next to Shaq

Loni Love is facing major backlash after calling out the infidelity of Black men during a discussion on The Real.
The Real co-hosts were talking about Joe Budden’s comments on Kevin Hart’s infidelity when Loni decided to take a quick jab at Black men.
“I don’t speak for the Black community by I do think that a lot of Black men, they really don’t know how to have true, faithful relationships,” she said. “They think because they have money, they have power, that they can treat women any kind of way.”

I spoke with a Black woman from London who is vising Charlotte the other day about what black people in great Britan are saying about Prince Harry and Meagan Markle leaving the Royal family...Was it that she could not take the racism anymore? We spoke with Kate Jegede and got an interesting twist that you have never heard.
LONDON — When Prince Harry and Meghan announced this week that they would be stepping back from their royal duties and spending extensive time in North America, many of Britain’s minority residents said they felt a burst of relief.
At long last, many said in interviews, the couple might finally escape the abuse, much of it racially tinged, that has been heaped upon them by the British press, particularly the country’s raucous tabloids.
“Thank God they are free,” said Sanaa Edness, lifting her arms to the sky as she walked through Fordham Park in southeast London. “Nobody should tolerate bullying and abusive behavior because of the color of their skin. All of this is about her race. I know it because as a Caribbean woman who did not grow up here, I have experienced it myself.”

A day after President Trump backed away from further military conflict with Iran, a commander of the country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps declared that Iran would soon take “harsher revenge” on the United States for a drone strike last week that killed a top Iranian general.
The slain commander, Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, had led the Quds Force, a powerful branch of the corps, and his death reverberated across the country, prompting calls for revenge and retaliatory strikes by Iran against two military bases in Iraq.
The barrage of missiles on Wednesday took no American lives, Mr. Trump said, and appeared to have inflicted little damage on air bases in Al-Asad and Erbil that house thousands of Iraqi and American servicemen and women. And though Tehran said afterward that it had “concluded proportionate measures” to avenge the killing of General Suleimani, officials in the region cautioned that Iran might not be done maneuvering and had not abandoned its goal to drive the United States out of the Middle East.
A senior commander in the Revolutionary Guards, Abdollah Araghi, said on Thursday that Iran’s armed forces would “impose harsher revenge on the enemy in the near future,” according to a translated report from Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

The House of Representatives is set to impeach an elected President accused of violating the nation's trust and his oath to preserve, protect and defend bedrock constitutional values. Donald Trump will be only the third president in 240 years to be impeached -- the ultimate trauma for the system of checks and balances, which will unleash fury that will boil for years.
The 45th President will be charged by the House Democratic majority with two articles of impeachment, namely abusing his power and obstructing Congress in a scheme to lure Ukraine into interfering in the 2020 election.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot fired police Superintendent Eddie Johnson effective immediately Monday for intentionally misleading her and the public about his conduct when he was found asleep in his running vehicle at a stop sign after a late weeknight out in October.
“This moment needs to be a turning point for the Chicago Police Department and the way things are done in this city,” said Lightfoot, emphasizing that a “culture change” must take place.
The stunning announcement came just weeks after Lightfoot held what she referred to Monday as “a celebratory press conference” to announce Johnson’s retirement by year’s end after about 3½ years at the helm.
Former Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck, previously named Johnson’s interim successor, took control of the beleaguered department after flying into Chicago on Monday afternoon. He and the mayor separately met with the department’s top brass

Teacher Shortage. According to research by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), the teacher shortage could reach 200,000 by 2025, up from 110,000 in 2018. This shortage of workers is due to a number of factors. Among them are pay, working conditions, lack of support, lack of autonomy, and the changing curriculum. Eric Legette is our guest.. MORE is designed to provide proactive measures and action plans to alleviate pressure off teachers/administrators within schools experiencing a teacher shortage. According to the Economic Policy Institute by the year 2025, the teacher shortage could reach 200,000.
Our area of expertise is classroom management. New teachers often struggle in this area and with an increased number of students in the classroom, there is a greater risk of classroom disruptions to occur. Current statistics show that new teachers leave at rates of somewhere between 19% and 30% over their first five years of teaching. A recent study by the Learning Policy Institute shows that if a teacher receives mentoring, collaboration, and extra resources, and is part of a strong teacher network, first-year turnover is cut by more than half. Unfortunately, just 3% of beginning teachers receive such support.
The goals are to: · Provide enough assistance and resources for schools to encourage new teachers to stay past the first three years · Our assistance and resources will contribute to maintaining or increasing student achievement · Relieve pressure and stress off teachers and administrators Our assistance will help teachers to continue to work efficiently... connect with him on linked in https://www.linkedin.com/in/eric-legette-m-ed-a16b9b10a

The Alabama abortion bill is very heavy. It must make America take a step back and look at this moral issue. Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed into law the most restrictive abortion bill in the country -- a near-total ban on all abortions. According to Eric Johnston, president of the Alabama Pro-Life Coalition, who helped craft the legislation, the bill was specifically designed to go to the Supreme Court and challenge Roe v. Wade.
The new law would become enforceable in six months and would carry stiff penalties for those caught violating it. For example, doctors could face up to 99 years in prison for performing an abortion in the state.

A police officer outside Houston fatally shot a woman during a scuffle over a Taser at an apartment complex late Monday, authorities said. The incident was captured on social media and circulated overnight, CBS Houston affiliate KHOU-TV reported. In the video, the woman can be heard shouting "I'm pregnant" multiple times before she is shot.
Baytown Police Lt. Steve Dorris on Tuesday afternoon identified the woman as Pamela Turner and said his department has confirmed Turner was not pregnant. However I thhink we should do our own investigation on that fact. He didn't immediately respond to questions from CBS News over whether the determination was made through an autopsy. However, family members told KHOU that Turner was not pregnant. Turner's niece told the station the woman had mental health issues and had had prior run-ins with Baytown police.
Dorris earlier said an officer on patrol saw the 45-year-old Turner, whom the officer had encountered before. He knew the woman had outstanding warrants, so he approached her to arrest her.

A Mecklenburg County judge on Tuesday ordered the release of the 11 minute-plus video from the body camera of Wende Kerl, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who shot and killed Danquirs Franklin.
Superior Court Judge Lisa Bell said she will rule later whether CMPD is in contempt of court for withholding video from the scene when Kerl killed Franklin at a west Charlotte Burger King on March 25.
Under a previous court order, CMPD last week publicly released two minutes and 20 seconds of video captured by Kerl’s camera. But CMPD withheld nearly nine minutes of video from the public, employees of three TV stations who petitioned the court for the footage and the judge who ruled the recording should be released.

Isn’t it unfortunate that somebody has to die and order for people to make a step towards change but it seems like it always ends up that way. The death of Nipsey Hussle has brought gangs in Los Angeles together in a truce that hasn’t happened in 27 years where they are putting their differences aside to become unified over the spilled blood of their brother who was trying to bring them together and stop the killing. This is what I called the power of love of a human being that touched you so much that for at least this moment in time the guns can be put away and the act of unification can begin. That’s why in this episode I am trying to explain that atonement is the only way out for us as a people to heal the fractured relationships that have gone on for years that it is only love that will stop the killing and not the lack of resources. The black man and woman like the scripture talks about that balm in Gilead must heal and make the wounds of our disunity whole. But of course we did not agree on this solution so listen for yourself and judge for yourself and please make a comment and let us know what you thin..is it A lack of love or lack of resources that makes killing each other so easy?

The reasons why the black family is in a chaotic state is because black men do not have control of their households. If you ran a business and didn’t have control over its operation it would be a very unorganized place to work, and where there is no discipline there is no structure and there is no love. Black men must take control of their household in order for the family to be successful but it seems like we disagreed on this episode. People misunderstand the word control and dictatorship. You do not have to be a dictator to control your home. We are talking about order and making sure things get done in the proper manner. Wealthy parents have been bribing officials to get into Ivy League schools since the inception of these prestigious colleges and universities. So does hard work really have anything to do with it if you can pay your way in. This is the power of white privilege in America where people have been paying for degrees paying for people to write their dissertation papers paying for people to take admissions test… And now maybe black people will wake up to the game that has been played on them for centuries.. Also in this episode Wendy Williams called her studio audience the N-word and Stacey Abrams from Georgia is thinking about putting her name on the list of people running for president in 2020.

In today’s episode of the 20 Minute Morning Show could it be that Shawn has exposed BJ’s hypocrisy in the R. Kelly drama… And what is this R. Kelly case doing to black America? Are we nailing our black men to the cross in the court of public opinion but failing to hold white celebrities to the same standards? Are we all hypocrites… are black people afraid of criticizing the Jewish power structure in entertainment? I am feeling some kind of way about Oprah and Gayle and the Role they are playing in demonizing black men, but not Harvey Weinstein who is their personal friend but is one of the worst offenders against women in the history of Hollywood.. the question has to be, why are they not nailing him to the cross like they are doing with Michael Jackson and R. Kelly.

Today on the 20 minute morning show we give our take on the interview done by Gail king of CBS News with RKelly. Did he help his case or did he further incriminate himself as a pedophile based off the public’s judgment of him. One of the questions BJ had was why did he choose Gayle King to be his interviewer number two why in all the high profile cases concerning black men that we’ve seen recently from Jussie Smollett to R. Kelly and new Michael Jackson allegations that black women are the interviewers and what is behind that strategy. One question that BJ had was can R Kelly now get a fair trial with so much publicity.
Did R. Kelly hurt himself or help himself with that interview showing his raw emotions. We had a very passionate discussion about it like always so please give us your opinion on our Facebook page @20 minute morning show or on Twitter @20morning

My dear 85 year old Aunt Carol Jean passed away last week in Elizabethtown NC a small town outside of Wilmington NC in the sandhills of bladen county. My mother was raised there, all 11 of her brothers and sisters. They were a farming family and most of them went they got a chance to move up north, they ran to the state of New Jersey and never looked back. My Aunt Carol left, but she cam back home and settled there until her recent passing. We use to have some good times in the summer when we were children. Tobacco fields, good cooking from Grandma and hanging with all my cousin's for a week. In this episode my first cousins and I discuss us coming together outside of funerals and getting closer again. We had a great brief discussion before we had to get in our cars and proceed to the church, but I did capture a great moment between us. funeralfamilyLoveunitedreunion

Women are getting tired of men cheating on them ...Shawn seems to think that women are tolerating these men because of financial security she says that when a mans keys hit the door, most women are like God why did you do this to me ...LOL and they are faking their way through these relationships.. Do you ever think that Nigerian Pastors are mimicking what they see Black Pastors in the United States do? Did you see the Nigerian Pastor Ressurect a so called dead man? There was one pastor in Africa who had some holy water he claimed he got from heaven and the people believed it… I believe that’s why US Clergy go over to Africa for these ministries because the people are so gullible and they misuse their sincerity.... in this episode we talk about the state of our black pastors and how black communities are suffering because of their lack of leadership.... is it cool for your pastor to have a jet plane to have a Mazeratti or Bentley when there are people in your congregation that may not have a car or decent housing ...You may agree or you may disagree...Please leave a comment we would love to hear from you… And of course we are not talking about your pastor right?

It seems that Bernie Sanders the beloved Democratic presidential candidate has run into a stumbling block when it comes to talking about reparations for a black people in America… Bernie Sanders was cornered by Wolf Blitzer on CNN during the town hall meeting discussing reparations, our show today we play the clip of him stumbling and bumbling and trying to finagle his way out of saying yay or nay to reparations… Sundi always has A different spin on reparations than Shawn and BJ. It was a very lively discussion listen and see which side of the reparations debate you fall on today’s episode

With Billy Porter wearing his Tuxedo dress to the Oscar awards this past weekend it seems he is helping to introduce a culture called "feminine manhood"… I hear women accusing men of toxic masculinity… Is feminine manhood the opposite? Do women even want real men anymore who don’t subscribe to that type of lifestyle? Do we have a culture going on in the black community in regards to this… And why are we always the ones being ushered out before the world to help promote this new alternative lifestyle from transgender lifestyles everything about that culture black people seem to be the poster children for it..

Today’s topic on the 20 minute morning show is about comedian Monique when she made an appearance on the Steve Harvey show and they got into a debate on why Monique has been blackballed from the movie industry… Shawn and I were shocked by some of the comments that Steve Harvey made but Sundi agreed with Steve. I personally thought he sounded like a super slave saying things like "we black out here and we can do the type of things that we want to do".. to me he sounded like he was a A subservient sycophant who does the bidding of his masters… On the show she talked about Oprah Winfrey turning her back on Monique because in private they said one thing about supporting her and then in public they turned their back on Monique and that’s why she is calling them out ...it’s a deep discussion that we had please give us your feedback
