Muckety-Muck Whisky & Escalation Clauses | EP54

This may be the most expensive bottle of Whisky we have ever had on the show. Ok, I'm pretty sure this is the most expensive bottle of whisky we have had on the show. Muckety-Muck makes an appearance to help us get through the discussion of "escalation clauses" in contracts that seems to be a growing trend in our industry. We may not all agree on this one, and it's unlikely the whisky was having a calming effect - LOL. Cheers!

Stella Artois and Crazy Talk! | EP53

Let's get back to basics with a well know beverage. Stella Artois (no, we didn't do the cool knife to remove the extra head form the top of the glass), but we did enjoy a nice beer-kind of conversation. We all have crazy, or unique, stories from our real estate career. And if you don't, don't worry, you will eventually. People even do whole podcasts around crazy stuff in real estate. We just wanted to share a couple of our experiences with you. (and we apologize for the audio cut out in the middle - technical difficulties, but the show must go on!)

Avion Tequila & Continuing Education Discussion | EP52 Well, they got Chris to try Tequila once again. Guess what, it still tastes like tequila! Well, at least Bill and Nick seem to like it. What you may like even better than the drink topic is the real estate topic. How do you feel about continuing education for our real estate industry? Now this does vary per state, so we would love to hear what you think about your states' guidelines. As a whole, we seem to agree that we could use some more requirements for education since we are a "professional" industry. But at the same time, we need to be reasonable to not affect the ability to serve clients well.

Happy Super Bowl! | EP50

Well, we recorded this obviously before the Super Bowl LV started. And...I don't quite think we had correct predictions LOL. But we had a good time and we hope you did as well! A special treat and guest on this episode, Dr. Travis Stoner who brought us a Whiskey-Bourbon distilled in his county of Virginia. A great cocktail to have while watching the biggest sporting event in the world. Cheers!

David Arthur Napa Red & Creating A Frictionless Closing | EP49

You know we love a good Red as debate real estate related things. And David Arthur doesn't dissapoint. This Napa reed is juicy on the front with a smooth finish. Drinking above our pay grade as Nick said. We also wanted to take this episode to talk some things of value for our Realtor audience. How are you making the transaction as smooth as possible? How are you building relationship during and after the closing? And how do you ever do this job without a nice Red wine to end your day?! Cheers!

Let's Get Tactical & Noah's Mill Bourbon | EP47

We want to provide as much value as we can to our Realtor audience and to help grow your career...and if we can drink Bourbon in the process, then yes! This rare bottle from the Willett family of distilleries, Noah's Mill, was tasty once you got past the initial burn. The flavors came out after the first taste. As far as the ideas to help you succeed in 2021, they also started flowing this episode! And listen to the end for Chris's big bold tech prediction for the industry. You might want to be the first to jump in! Cheers!

How Can We Make Your Real Estate Career Better? You got your cup ready – and your spoon clean. Start with a layer of smooth and rich ice cream. However many flavors you want! Next drizzle some luscious chocolate syrup or caramel to drizzle and cascade down over the perfectly chilled ice cream. The topping bar is open, so don’t be shy. Nuts, sprinkles, marsh mellows, gummy bears – go nuts! Finish it of with a mountain top of whip cream piled hi and of course finished off with the cherry on top for the most picturesque mountain of dessert goodness you would never say no to. Ok, hungry? Here is the thing – i look at your real estate career like that. I want to make it the most appealing and satisfying experience i can. I want to give you access to all the things that will make your career not only the best to you, but to the world around you when they see it. Most people won’t make their ice cream sundae exactly the same way as the next person, so I think each real estate career works the same way. But the goal is to make your real estate career the most appealing for you, and the most satisfying and rewarding that it can be for your success. So, how can we help? Better Commission Plans (check) More flexibility and individual branding (check) More broker support and coaching (check) More resources and training to grow your career (check) More individuality in goal setting, not “robot” creation (check) Experience and Ethical Reputation (check) Office Culture while promoting and enhancing “off-site” work habits (check) able to listen to what it is YOU WANT? – (double check!) Contact me today and let’s talk about moving forward in your real estate career and how we can help at Eagle Realty! www.DiscoverEagleRealty.com – Career www.Facebook.com/ChrisWardBIC – Chris Ward BIC Page www.Instagram.com – @EagleRealtySC www.Snapchat.com – @EagleRealtySC Website – www.EagleRealtySC.com @chriswardbic – Soundcloud

I love this point that i will for sure probably write about it every other month. I think if i really had to tell the truth i would say that this is my mantra i strive to live out everyday. Balancing contentment with ambition, where both are operating at 100% is a constant action I am practicing every day. I want to make sure i can see clearly the blessings in my life between family, work, career, fun, etc. but at the same time never get complacent with my goals and motivation. I want to keep striving for success and pushing my career and life forward. Not just for myself, but for those around me and others so that i can affect more lives and build a greater legacy with all that I do. So the question is how? How do we be supper appreciative in the moment while continuing to drive forward in achievement? My first solution is “perspective”. The proper perspective keeps the now and the future in the right order and the right place. Seeing both the micro and macro at the same time. Knowing that our lives are finite and that each breath is a gift, but that if i have a breath there is more to do with the time i have. This is all a perspective. Secondly: prioritize. Remember the the things that really matter in the long run. It’s not money. Its people. It’s relationships. It’s legacy. How can we help and improve the lives of everyone we come into contact with. I strive for more not for myself but for others. I am blessed in the moment because of the people in my life at that moment, not what i have in material object. I prioritize time with my kids and my wife over work. I focus on building the team up in my company, not just my personal career. I prioritize activities in the now and for the future together. Perspective and prioritizing can drastically change how your life can be as a real estate agent and as a person. www.DiscoverEagleRealty.com – Career www.Facebook.com/ChrisWardBIC – Chris Ward BIC Page www.Instagram.com – @EagleRealtySC www.Snapchat.com – @EagleRealtySC Website – www.EagleRealtySC.com @chriswardbic – Soundcloud

Career Blog Series | Realtors, How Sweet Are Your Communication Skills? | Eagle Realty

It’s a simple question. Honestly, your communication skills is a simple task. It really doesn’t seem like it should be too hard for communication to be a quality and proficient talent of most people, especially Realtors. Communication skills are a necessary part of life (or at least a productive and successful life in my opinion) and it goes even more for those of us who choose Real Estate Sales as our profession and career. The truth is, one of the biggest complaints amongst buyers, sellers, or just the general public about Realtors is their lack of communication. Honestly, this is a complaint amongst almost every profession. So to be fair, it really applies to all people in all work sectors and organizations.

When we say better communication, most people want better frequency, not just understanding. I mean, most people in my experience want communication even if there is nothing important to communicate. In addition, you have to learn how to communicate on multiple platforms and in your client/customers/co-workers favorite platform of communication. This could be phone, text, FB msg, email, Snapchat – which means you need to know HOW to communicate on multiple platforms. And how to do it natively. For example – a 3 paragraph text message is not normal behavior using that mode of communication. In addition, a phone call is not necessary for a simple “YES/NO” type answer.

As our communication skills grow, we will find people think our service is better. While i hope our Realtor service and expertise is always at the top of our game, the truth could be that you just really have good communication skills and in a way (on the right platform) that matches the client/customer preferred mode of communication. This will always make you seem like you have better service. So to recap: -Communicate frequently (even if there is nothing to report…report there is nothing to report) – Communicate in the mode/platform that fits the way your client/customer wants to communicate – Communication will always make your service and expertise level look better

Variety & Choice: The Best About Your Realtor Career You have heard me say before, and you will again, the freedom of choice in your real estate career is one of the greatest assets we have to grow our career in the real estate industry. The first choice you have is affiliation with a brokerage. And i think you may be gathering in your search or even your experience of being in the business for a while, the right company can make a world of difference in the trajectory of your success in real estate. I could go into my pitch here. How Eagle Realty is better for your career – whether you are a new agent fresh out of school or have been in the industry for years. I could really sell you on how Eagle is the best place to grow your career, the way you want, while having the benefits of coaching, training, resources, etc. at your fingertips. I could, but I won’t. I believe what you need to hear is the opposite – that Eagle may NOT be the best place for your career to thrive. And the truth is, that’s ok. There is a reason that Realtors are successful under many different models and brokerages. Some franchises, small or large. Some regional or local independents. Some new home and on site sales. The goal is to find where you fit and mesh to be the most successful in your real estate career. And my goal: to read from our interactions if that is with my company at Eagle Realty or not. Because i see no reason that you need to join my brokerage if you will not be successful in our culture. And, to go one step further – I want to help you and find where you might be the most successful. Which means, i will gladly suggest my “competition” in real estate if i believe you might be a good fit there. (*gasp) And furthermore – the reality is you may evolve and become a great fit at my company, or at the least, a bad fit at your current company. Recognize it and don’t be afraid to admit that you need a change. Not for the sake of change, but to take your career to a new level that can’t be achieve where you are. The greatest power you have: Variety & Choice www.DiscoverEagleRealty.com – Career www.Facebook.com/ChrisWardBIC – Chris Ward BIC Page www.Instagram.com – @EagleRealtySC www.Snapchat.com – @EagleRealtySC Website – www.EagleRealtySC.com @chriswardbic – Soundcloud

Handling The Flavors of Summer Oh yes, its here. Make no mistake that Memorial Day brought us the full swing of summer-mode for our area in north myrtle beach, sc. We, especially in the real estate and vacation rental business are bracing for full force winds of the vacation season. On top of that, in our area is the increase in seasonal real estate buying and listing activity. The correlation between summer traffic of tourists relates undoubtably to the increase in buying activity in our area of the beach. So what do we do? Ride the wave. (Quite literally in the case of those of us that love the summer surf season) It’s time for us to go to work. And we love it! If you are a Realtor, this is your playoffs. Time to put your game face on and embrace the craziness. So what are the best tips i can offer? Content Content Content – dont neglect the micro content on snap and Insta stories (especially geo tagging) – build your audiences with geo-targeted searches of other people posting on social Embrace Buyers – but make sure to vet them – prequals or proof of funds are critical – make sure your offers are fair and be able to be quick and efficient with paperwork because you don’t want your buyer to lose out to another bidder. This is NOT Your Vacation Season – time to work – vacation in the winter Be seen – get out in the tourist traffic – network and interact with those out of town – Starbucks, grocery store, restaurants – never know where the conversation will lead Have a great summer – lets get this started!!! www.DiscoverEagleRealty.com – Career www.Facebook.com/ChrisWardBIC – Chris Ward BIC Page www.Instagram.com – @EagleRealtySC www.Snapchat.com – @EagleRealtySC Website – www.EagleRealtySC.com @chriswardbic – Soundcloud

Building a Real Estate Team is the hottest trend in the industry. Career Blog Series | Enjoy The Climb As Much As The Summit | Eagle Realty

Enjoy The Climb As Much As The Summit My brother-in-law is very into climbing and mountaineering. Seems like fun, though i don’t have much experience with the like. What i notice is how much he gets excited for the prep and the climb itself, not just the goal of the destination or the peak. I would think that is what makes any activity more enjoyable. When you love the practice. When you love the scrimmage. When you love the climb. When you love the moment and not just the championship or end goal. When you love improving and the journey, not just the focus on the ending point. Everything we do leads to goals as we talked about in the last post about #strategy. But do you enjoy your strategy? Do you enjoy the “climb” as it were? Do you enjoy the work along with the success? Imagine how much greater life would be if instead of frustration in the midst of working the day-to-day just to get to the next sale, or make more money, or buy that home you dream of, or whatever life goals you may have, you enjoyed the journey as much as the end goal? Everything we do that we are truly passionate about, including our careers, should be done with a healthy dose of enjoyment in the moment and the day-to-day. This does not mean we have no problems or horrible days – it just means we can have a career where we are exited and passionate about every aspect that makes our career, not just the big moments or goals.

Career Blog Series | Strategy, Strategy, Strategy | Eagle Realty Strategy – #RealEstate I usually like more catchy type titles – but this one word #strategy pretty much sums it up. Do you know how many agents i have encountered that are waiting around just hoping some real estate activity happens for them?! A hope, wish, and a prayer is not a sound strategy for business (though i do believe prayer is vital daily, but not in this particular context we are referring to). A strategy must encompass planned activity and behavior that happens daily to reach a predetermined goal. It is the “how” when striving toward a destination. Its the path you walk/run to make it to where you are heading in your business. Strategy can be short term, intermediate, or long term. Sometimes strategies may crossover with others you have enacted, and sometimes they stand alone. They can be adjusted and improved, but never neglected. By having a strategy, you enable yourself to gather data through actions, and then adjust the small parts in the strategy to make it more efficient to better reach the goal. In short, its the plan. But why? why have it? Because otherwise you are sit still and wait. Strategy is planned action. It is not necessarily designed to yield immediate fruit, but rather over time reach harvest. (agricultural metaphor, check!) It is work with purpose, even if it sometimes seems mundane in the moment. You rarely reach a destination without a plan how to get there. Goals without strategy are just wishes. If you have trouble creating a plan to get to your goal, the solution is simple – ask for help. Thats what a coach, broker, BIC, mentor, etc. is for. www.DiscoverEagleRealty.com – Careers www.Facebook.com/ChrisWardBIC – Chris Ward BIC Page www.Instagram.com – @EagleRealtySC www.Snapchat.com – @EagleRealtySC Website – www.EagleRealtySC.com https://soundcloud.com/chriswardbic – Soundcloud

-Your career in Real Estate is your business. Sounds redundant, doesn’t it - but listen closely. This is your own business, and you are, for all intensive purposes, a small business owner. That should be exciting! That should give you a rush to know that your chosen profession as a Realtor is one where you have the freedom of time, unlimited income potential, and the ability to grow your business as big as your willing to go. But, with great freedom comes great responsibility. It all hinges on you. If you run your career like a business- using systems and process, working effectively and efficiently, you will be a success. In this section, we want to highlight areas that could be applied to any business or industry, but the key is that in Real Estate, your growth will be determined by your focus on your business, and your dedication to run it as it really is - a business that you own.

If you have been in the business world for any small amount of time in the last 100 years, you have heard the adage “change or die”. I the real estate industry, it still applies. As Realtor’s we must adapt, update, and stay relevant with culture, the internet, social media, marketing, expertise in the market and showing value. Its a constant evolution to be able to grow our real estate business. Those that stay the same start seeing a decline in business or in the market place. They, some without knowing it, slowly find themselves on the outside looking in. There is no room for the ego of being stubborn because you want to stay “traditional” just for the sake of being traditional or not wanting to change. That is NOT to say you should stop an old method that is working. If it ain’t broke….exactly. Change for the sake of change is not necessary either. Abandoning a yacht that is not sinking to jump on a new eco-fueled life raft may not be the smartest move. You are allowed to “change” while keeping systems and practices in place that you are finding success with in your business. Adapting and adopting new technologies, methods, or platforms doesn’t mean total abandonment to the old ones, until it is right to do so. And, one change is not the only change. In fact, at the rate we have seen technology, internet, and culture move and change, we have to realize that just making one change one time is not going to do it for your career in real estate (or any other business) to grow. We must evolve as Realtors of change. Able to be constantly on the look out and in the know for emerging things that affect our business and industry. Always trying, researching, testing, and adjusting. Being consistent in our mentality towards change is the win. We change or die…then we repeat. www.DiscoverEagleRealty.com – Career www.Facebook.com/ChrisWardBIC – Chris Ward BIC Page www.Instagram.com – @EagleRealtySC www.Snapchat.com – @EagleRealtySC Website – www.EagleRealtySC.com https://soundcloud.com/chriswardbic – Soundcloud

Real Estate Training & Fitness

You know i love the workout. Getting my fitness on and staying fit. There is so much advantage in life and business, for both success and long term strategy, to staying physically healthy and fit. I’m not talking strongman challenge or elite Crossfit Athlete…but consistent diet and exercise for a healthy lifestyle. The science backs it, and common sense tells you that living healthy means a better day to day in so many categories. Mental capability, energy level, focus, vitality, longevity, etc. I know i am preaching, but it really is logical and just makes sense. If you are a business owner (aka Realtor) you can not neglect the physical side of your well being. Fitness (includes both diet and exercise) has to a priority in your routine every day.

And just as the body needs training, the mind and knowledge of your craft can’t be lacking either. You constantly should be “training” when it comes to your business, especially real estate, in knowledge growth of your profession and industry, surrounding and related industries, tech tools, business building, and of course local area data and statistics on trends, market, etc. By constantly trying to be the best expert in your area in Real Estate, you are in constant training to be “fittest” in your field. Fitness is not something that should be done only when you want to look better, or a short-term solution for some result you want and then you go back to “normal” life. It has to become a lifestyle. That is the same for your Real Estate Fitness. The grind of being the expert is an “all the time” thing in your career. Not just when you aren’t busy and things are slow. In the good and the bad, being the expert needs to become your Realtor Lifestyle.

Career Blog Series - 2 for 1 - Selling Isn't The Only Skill Needed, & Mindset Matters -Eagle Realty

(PART 2) - Mindset Matters – As A Realtor So if you are not a basketball fan and do not watch March madness, then you were spared from the wrenching heart ache of watching your team suffer defeat like i did yesterday as the UK Wildcats were handed their exit from the NCAA tournament via the UNC Tarheels. I now have a new hatred for the Tarheels, that partners with my hate of Duke and pretty much filtering to any basketball team in the state of North Carolina. Now, i say that with trepidation and mild delirium of depression that should wear off in the not too far future – and since i still sell real estate in North Carolina i need to not offend any potential clients and customers. But….still. It hurts and it affected my mood all day. My snapchat is littered with depression and frustrated rants. Why even work today? (of course we did welcome a new agent to our Eagle Realty team, so that was worth a smile) – but besides that, crappy monday. And it showed. My work level was sub par, my drive 20% at best. My accomplishments….pretty minor. My mind wasn’t in it, so my body wasn’t as well. So, where is your head at n most day? do you see a correlation between mood and production? Do you see a direct link between your mindset heading into the day and how your day results by the end? It’s a simple lesson you have heard many times. To be the most productive you must have the right mindset. Here is how i try to maintain it on each day. Routine – each morning has a routine i try to stick to start each day with the right rhythm. To Do List – check off each item and have it prepared before you start the day. Block out the haters – noise cancel the noise. Find the positivity – and if you can’t find it – make it – in your posts, in your blog, in your interactions, your family or wherever. End the day relaxed – when in doubt – go to bed early, get a good night sleep and know the next day will be better.

Treadmills Are Good For A Lot, But Not For Getting Somewhere

Working out on a treadmill can provide a ton of benefits. Especially when you compare it to not working out at all. But, on the pro side you don’t have to deal with inclement weather (like north myrtle beach and our south east has had recently….in march!) You can change pace while maintaining consistency. You can increase incline without tripping over rocks or needing a hill/mountain for intensity. (hard to find here near the beach). It can be smoother on joints and knees. You have an “auto-stop safety” switch…which can also be unsafe as i found out when i was younger. It is convenient and accessible. There is a reason treadmills were invented.

But….if you are trying to go somewhere, treadmills are no good. They provide tremendous benefits, but also provide a limitation on going anywhere. The proverbial hamster wheel. You can always be moving but never arriving anywhere. Always running forward, but never advancing. Sure, great health benefits, but very limited experience of what the world has to offer.

As Realtors and those in the real estate profession you may be seeing my point here. You career could be on a treadmill. You are getting some benefits and seeing some results…but there may be a whole wide world of opportunity and experience that if you chose to break free and run outside, the possibility of finding and heading a new direction to actually achieve a destination would be a reality you could embrace. And all is takes is opening up the door and taking a step. Our company was, and is, built for those looking to actually go somewhere new in there career. You could be doing great running inside, in place, at the steady speed you are at. But if you are ready to try some new terrain on a new trail…still running, but in a direction that gets you somewhere, then lets talk.

Business Owner vs. Employee You have heard it so much before but it bears repeating….or at least needs to serve as a reminder: As a Realtor, you ARE a business owner. Plain and simple. You must maintain the perspective and see everything you do in your career through the lens of the truth that you own your own business when it comes to real estate. To choose this career is to choose to run your own business. Of course you have a company your license hangs with and you have a wonderful broker in charge and/or manager for your needs and to resource you. But in most cases, they are at your disposal in such a way that should be an augment to your business strategy and career. Your success should not depend on them or the name of your franchise or company…in fact it should be quite the other way around. A couple tips that i want to remind Realtors to think of since they (you) are in fact a business owner: Metrics/Data/Analytics – you must track everything. Appointments, conversions, marketing success, facebook ads, cold calls, etc. Implement, track, analyze, adjust, repeat. Taxes – run your accounting like a business. Expense reports, deductions, spending, income – organize and keep accurate records in an easy way for your CPA. Branding/Marketing – your are your brand even when you are with a franchise. You cant rely only on the marketing of your real estate firm – you have to strategize for your listings, your farming, your branding, etc. Create, build relative content, use video, FB ads, social platforms, be native, be local, be truthful, and be you. Your name and expertise IS the face of your business – and Real Estate is your product and service.www.DiscoverEagleRealty.info – Real Estate Careers

You Can Be Successful Without Being Famous Im not sure if you have noticed, but the whole #video thing (facebook live, Insta Live Story, vlog-ing, documentary style you tube shows, etc) is really catching on. Like, it was a thing years ago, but much like trends, there were those who started the trend, followed the trend, and those that are bringing up the rear and finally jumping on the band wagon. I have seen more youtube shows and vlog type videos on FB and other networks…not too mention the uptick in Stories and Snaps…in the past 2 months than in the previous 12. The true question, is who will stay consistent with their social media strategy? Because the reality it is a marathon, not a sprint. But all that being said, in the real estate industry, the real question is, why are you doing it? I mean, are you trying to be the next Gary Vee or Casey Neistat? Is your goal 1,000,000 views or a new client? Are you trying to go viral or sell real estate through strategic marketing? Does video creation, editing, storyboarding, uploading, and sharing consumer your day or is there some room for your real estate clients? I’m not preaching. I have the same issues. But i know the fact is that you don’t need to be famous to be successful. There are plenty of millionaires that you have never heard of. There are plenty of people who have changed (and saved) lives around the world that you will never know about. There are plenty of moms and dads with kids that do great things that stories never get told. The punch line, you don’t need to be famous to be successful. When your marketing becomes more about you than serving as a strategy to fuel your success in real estate, then it might be time for a priority check…or maybe an #eaglereality check (see my YouTube channel for reference www.Youtube.com/EAGLEREALTY1 ) …see i couldn’t type just one blog without plugging my show on youtube. Ugh…the struggle is real. Video (and creative video) is a necessary part of your marketing strategy….but becoming famous (or not) doesn’t determine your success for your real estate career. www.DiscoverEagleRealty.info – Real Estate Careers

What’s Love Got To Do With It? A lot. Thats’ simple. I mean, if you don’t love what you are doing in life, what’s the point? Oh, you thought i was about to get all Valentines Day on you with the #love pun? Well, kinda. Your real estate career is a love-hate relationship. Well, any career is going to be that, or should. Of course there are bad days and times you want to just not work anymore. But the more important question is are you doing real estate as a job, or a career? Can you see yourself doing anything else? Do you wish you were doing something else on a day-to-day basis? A career can be defined by a pursuit of passion in the work segment of your life. You should have a drive to succeed and work on the daily to move forward. You should feel energized in what you do and what you are trying to accomplish. Life is too short to just be going through the motions of a “job” that provides a paycheck. In essence, real estate can’t be that because by its very nature it is a commission business, but you get my point. Love should be in the vocabulary of every Realtor. It should be mingled in with the description of what you do each day, how you feel about your clients and your goals, and the affinity you have towards the product you help make a reality for people. Love should be seen both internal and external when it comes to how you view your daily work, prospecting, closings, listings, buyer appointments, marketing, social media, etc, etc. So what does love have to do with your real estate career? Everything. www.DiscoverEagleRealty.info

The Difference Between Complacency and Contentment is Complaining

There is very little that will slow your business progress and growth, especially in real estate, more than complaining. The negative association of whining and complaining about ANYTHING takes time, energy, and effort that is stolen from any productive activity that you could be doing Not only is it a drain on you and those around you, but it changes your psychological state and mood, causing even more chance for an unproductive day to enter your business. While that may be the extreme, albeit true, side of the spectrum about the negative effects of complaining, the other more subtle side to the argument is that complaining can creep in to a sub par, or complacent, side of your real estate business state. Here is what i mean: the perspective you maintain on your business and what you do day-to-day to hit goals and move forward with momentum into growth can be hindered by complaining, thus bringing any forward momentum to a halt. If you complain a lot, compare yourself to others or define your success by someone else’s terms – then complaining has been coupled with complacency in your business. You stop, get stuck, and settle for where you are at, but aren’t happy about it. Even if by other people’s standards you are in a good place, because of the negative cloud of complaining, you feel stuck, not successful. Enter in the difference between complacency and contentment. You see, being content means you are in a positive state of where your real estate business and your life is, but you are not settling. You are still wanting to move forward, still want to reach new levels of success on your terms. But where there is contentment, there is no whining and no complaining. There is no room for the negative emotion, perspective, and actions associated with complaining when you are content. You have to flip the switch from becoming complacent, unhappy with where you are at and never moving forward – with – contentment which is at peace and happy about your current state but excited and ready to keep moving forward in growing your business and life with purpose and without complaining. Every entrepreneur, including those of us in the real estate sales business needs to know and apply this everyday!

Thee Eagle Reality - Episode 8 - "Daily Work Life Balance" - Eagle Realty

Why did you become a Realtor? Or why do you want to be a Realtor or get into the real estate industry? Money? Fame? Legacy? Wealth? Freedom? Run Your Own Business? Make Your Own Schedule? How about all of the above....

Personally, at Eagle Realty, I believe there is a lot of great reasons to get into real estate as your career. Especially here is North Myrtle Beach, SC. One of my favorite is the ability to make my own day and work as much as I want. Being able to do real work without the confines of a 9-5 "box" allows me to get more done and still fit "life" into my schedule. Being a dad, community projects and ministries, other business ventures, personal time, and all of that can be built into one day around my real estate career. But you have to be able to put in the work at odd hours and stay self motivated to do so! Can you?

Career Blog Series - It's Not "I Want To", It's "I Will Do " - Eagle Realty

What You Want To Do, Or What You Will Do? I watched the Winter X-Games on ESPN this past weekend (like every winter) and picked up on an athlete telling his story about his road to becoming a professional snowboarder. The main theme of his story was that he told himself and others, “I will be a pro snowboarder” in contrast to “I want to be a snowboarder”. There is a big difference. Our career choices and direction, including our Real Estate career and the success we will have building our business, needs to be predicated on a psychological foundation of “I Will” not just “I Want”. Mindset is very important in everything we do. Phrasing of the words we tell ourselves, and others, is just as important. To achieve we must firmly believe in what we are trying to accomplish. I don’t mean for that to be corny or sound like motivational mumbo-jumbo, but rather it is more in line with common sense that we know, we just don’t practice enough. Just like scripts work in real estate sales, but they need to become natural sounding to be optimally effective. The only way that happens is extensive practice and repetitiveness. Making our “I Will” mindset and natural as part of our language in our goals, strategy, direction, and purpose will only make us more prone to achievement. I “want” is a wish. I “will” defines your purpose.

Real Estate Career Blog Series - Choice Is Your Greatest Asset - Eagle Realty

Realtors, Your Biggest Career Asset Is Choice Real Estate is a very unique career and industry. Speaking strictly from the aspect of working as a Realtor, there are many reasons and advantages that people see as why they choose this career path. I know for myself, running my own business, the flexibility of schedule, the unlimited earning potential, and the fact real estate is an essential part of life. Essential in the face that real estate affect all people, in some form or fashion, people need to live somewhere, and more land is not being “created”. (mostly). The freedom (that needs to be managed through self-motivation) and entrepreneur mindset (focused through the discipline of running your own business) greatly appealed to me, as i hope it does you. But, i know a career in real estate appeals to many people for different reasons. But i want to point out for everyone who chooses to become a Real Estate professional, that one of the biggest advantages you have is the power of choice in your career. Almost all companies/brokerages are always hiring. Your not applying and interviewing “hoping” to get a job, you are interviewing the company with that ability to choose the best fit. So I am saying choose wisely. Choose a company that fits your goals, values, and desires for your career. Even more so, find a company that best benefits the growth and success of your business and your goals. It your choice. You have the advantage that, speaking in general, everyone wants you and now you need to find out what you want. Even if you are already in the industry and working with a firm, is it the best choice for your career moving forward. You had the advantage to make a change today! Don’t wait…your career deserves the best choice!

Career Blog Series - Go On The Offensive in 2017 - Eagle Realty - Chris Ward

In 2017 Go On The Offensive This is that transition time of year from football to basketball. I’m a huge UK Basketball fan, though I love Ohio State Football. From a professional level, my home town is Chicago, so Da Bears and Da Bulls. There is a saying that “defense wins championships”. I think that can apply to all sports – but defense just isn’t as fun to watch as great offense. Of course, you know when defense is just as fun to watch? When the defense scores!! So offense still is the win. And no wins in a 0-0 game…someone has to score to win. What does that have to do real estate you ask? A ton! Especially as we kick off the year. Many people will get a slow start. Or play defense with their budget, time and effort. Most will think they have all year to get going. But those that win know that you have to get started months ago (yes i meant to write it that way). The start of 2017 or any new year is actually initiated at the end of the previous. You have plan and strategy that you hit the ground running with. You don’t wait till January to come up with your offense for the year in real estate, you come out swinging. In our current real estate market in north myrtle beach, this is consider our “slow” season from a sales perspective. But that doesn’t mean sales don’t exist. As a Realtor, you also should be able to see that its been a busier than normal winter for real estate sales – is that you? Are you the one already booking appointments with your sphere, getting refers, initiating your online marketing and ads, following up with old and new leads, content creating daily? All this doesn’t stop because of a season or time of year. For success that grows and lasts, we ALWAYS play offense.

Thee Eagle Reality - Episode 5 - "How Do You Communicate...Or How Don't You"

In our culture, its all about our communication. For Realtors, one of the biggest complaints is the timely manner, or total lack, of our communication. If we want to succeed we have to communicate quickly and efficiently with everyone around us. That may mean communicating in ways you are not used to or comfortable with. That may mean learning new mediums and platforms of communication to connect with a variety of people and ages in our society and world. It is a necessary value that is only going to increase in necessity as we move forward into the future.

You will be judged as a professional on your ability to communicate not only quickly, but well. As a Real Estate Professional at Eagle Realty, one of core values since the founding of the company has been "timely communication". This value means even more today, and in the future, then it did when it was decided upon.

I grew up in the wonderful late 1980’s and the early 1990’s. The hub of home video game console entertainment systems being the central focus of every teenagers evening entertainment. The original NES, Nintendo Gameboy, rival Sega Genesis, then the introduction of PlayStation and the many versions of Nintendo gaming that came after that. Maybe i am getting nostalgic with Christmas time and the release of the NES Plug & Play system that was just released (that i can’t seem to find anywhere!!) – but i digress.

Do you know the greatest thing about the RESET button on any game system? It’s that even though you hit and you have to star the whole game over, you don’t lose the knowledge (as the player) of how to get back to where you were. You can get there better, stronger, enhanced, with more lives, because the knowledge and skills to get to your last point are still there, and now you can apply what you have learned to get to where you were even better so you can go further than last time. Do you see where I’m going with this?

In your real estate career, sometimes a “RESET” or “Re-Start” is needed in your career. This doesn’t mean starting at ZERO with nothing: no knowledge, skills, clients, farming skills, sales experience. It simply means a fresh start where you take everything you have that got you to the ceiling of where you were, and you climb back to where you were but arriving in not only a better position than before, but now with the ability to take your career farther than you could before. That’s what Eagle Realty as a real estate company is set up to do for experience agents. We Allow you to RE-START your career without starting over. So overtime you see your kids (or any kid) playing a gaming system…or a commercial on TV with the latest VR Tech system from Sony or Xbox One, remember this about your career….there is always opportunity for you to LEVEL-UP your career as a realtor.

Eagle Realty Careers - www.DiscoverEagleRealty.info

You know that commercial from Android phones – the one that goes, “together, not the same”? I like that. I really like that. One thing i have tried to bring to our culture as a company is that success looks different for each Realtor. And no matter how you, as a Realtor, define success or what goals you are trying to reach and obtain, my job as a BIC and as an owner is to come alongside and resource you, coach, help, strategize with you on how to get to where you want to be in your career. It is a very real scenario that selling 4 homes this coming year means you reached the goal you set, thus you had a successful year. And another agent in my company told me they want to do 25 transaction sides this year….that’s a very different goal and story of success for that agent. After have 20 face-to-face meetings with my agents over the last 2 weeks, do you know what i learned? Each had a different goal for 2017. And you know what, that’s ok. And what’s more – how they are going to obtain that goal is slightly different for each agent, and my job is to help them find the best path to reach their destination of success. And i like that. I love that. I like having the diversity in our company culture at Eagle that allows agents to not be cookie cutter and all have to follow the same formula and routine every single day, with some pre-set systems that everyone has to follow. We are one company…we are not all the same Realtor.

One thing i hear Tom Ferry say a lot (maybe on of his favorite phrases especially at the end of the year) is “what got you here won’t get you there.” Meaning, to get bigger, better results or reach new goals, you can’t do the same things the exact same way that got you to this point. One definition of insanity goes, “doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.” I think we all realize this on some level, but routines, budgets, habits, tradition – all these are hard things to break. I imagine a solution can look more like this: instead of changing to a new path, how about change your current path? Many people may thing they need a whole new path and different direction. In fact, i have said that before, but really you need to hear the context. If you are in Real Estate and wanting to continue a career with an upward trajectory of success, then you are probably on the “right path”…but maybe your path needs enhanced. You are probably doing things that have grown your success tot his point, and now to get to that next level, you need to not necessarily change what you are doing, but rather grow what you are doing. Imagine a rope bridge that works to get you from A to B…but you reconstruct a more permanent suspension bridge – wider, sturdier, and able to hold more traffic going from point A to B? That is a more accurate depiction of taking your business on a new path…not to change everything you are doing, but rather enhance it with more budget, more time, more focus, more energy, more marketing and branding, more team members, more commissions. We want to see your Real Estate career path become more of a highway….if that’s how much you want your career to grow. Your success matters to us, no matter how you define success for you.
