Ubisoft held a Ubisoft Forward event yesterday announcing a bunch of new Assassin's Creed games and updates for other titles. Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is set set in Baghdhad and it’s described as a tribute to early Assassin’s Creed games. PlayStation has not only announced the three PlayStation Plus Essential titles but announced 14 new games for PlayStation Plus Extra/Deluxe including the likes of Deathloop and Syphon Filter 2/Toy Story 3 in the way of classic games. The PlayStation Plus Essential games will be available on September 6th whilst the Extra/Deluxe games will be available on September 20th.
It has been revealed by Japanese retailers that Sony will release a third PS5 model in the coming weeks, with the new CFI-1200 model set to launch in Japan on September 15th (the same day of the price hike in Japan). We don’t have concrete information about what this new model will add/change, but it’s been speculated that an upcoming PS5 model will use a new AMD 6nm chipset.
A PS5 price increase is effective immediately in Australia and other markets around the world due to the “global economic environment” PlayStation has confirmed in an official blog post. Prices are bumping up about $50 for both the disc drive and digital versions of the PlayStation 5. The new prices are : $799.95 AUD for the PS5 with disc drive and $649.95 for the PS5 Digital Edition.

The listing has revealed that Deep Silver’s long-gestating Dead Island 2 is coming on February 3, 2023 to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
A new Tales of the Borderlands game was teased earlier this year, but now all of the details have leaked in an Amazon listing ahead of its presumed reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live. According to the Amazon listing, the game is simply titled ‘New Tales From The Borderlands’ and it will release on October 21st for all major console platforms. The game is being developed by Gearbox internally and will feature a new cast of characters as well as a whole new story.
Nintendo has announced that Wave Race 64 will be joining the Nintendo Switch Online service on August 19th, for those who have the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscription. You might remember Wave Race as one of the most iconic Nintendo 64 games to launch on the system back in 1996. While Nintendo hasn't detailed the future on N64 games on the service, this is a great next addition to the lineup.
Avalanche Studios has announced that the Hogwarts Legacy release date will be February 10th, 2023 for PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch release date will be later and hasn’t been revealed at this time. This comes alongside an announcement that the game has been delayed out of its 2022 release window. This makes for a second consecutive delay despite the game never having a release date before today.
Overnight, Nintendo dropped an inksplosion of Splatoon 3 news ahead of the game's September 9th release. The 30-minute Nintendo Direct gave eager fans a look at the third entry's new modes, weapons, stages, customisation options and more.
Nintendo has announced a Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct that’s taking place later this week. It will feature 30 minutes of Splatoon 3 goodness. It’s probably timely given that the game is out in less than a month, and we haven’t seen a whole heap about it. The Direct is taking place this Wednesday night at 11pm AEST. Splatoon 3 is releasing on September 9th exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
It goes without saying that LG has pretty much dominated the OLED department over the last 3-4 years, but it looks like they’ve finally got some competition with Samsung announcing that the brand new Samsung S95B QD-OLED TV is out in Australia today. Whilst you’re using the new PlayStation VR2 headset, PlayStation has confirmed you’ll be able to see your surroundings thanks to a new feature called See Through which uses the cameras on the headset to quickly show you your surroundings, as well as quick settings.
Naughty Dog has announced that The Last Of Us Part 1 has gone gold ahead of its release on September 2nd. This means that the game is now ready to be sent to print and there should be no delays to the game’s release.
PlayStation has revealed July's new PlayStation Plus Extra/Deluxe games that will be coming to the service on July 19th. This includes the already revealed Stray as titles such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, Marvel's Avengers as well as a host of Assassin's Creed games, Saints Row 4 Re-Elected, Jumaji, Ice Age and Paw Patrol. Two new PlayStation Classics will be added for Deluxe members including No Heroes Allowed and LocoRoco Midnight Carnival on PSP.
If you thought that Kirby and the Forgotten Land was the only Kirby game coming this year then think again because Nintendo just announced Kirby’s Dream Buffet on its social media channels. The game is an eShop exclusive title coming this Winter that will see Kirby in four player battles consisting of four rounds where you must go through obstacle style courses, growing bigger and bigger as each round goes on (in what appears to be a mix of Fall Guys and Super Monkey Ball).

Sony has now confirmed that the studio is making an original AAA multipalyer title for the PS5.
God Of War Ragnarok got a release date last week and we now know that the game will be releasing on November 9th for PS5 and PS4. Sony Santa Monica also confirmed that there will be four different versions of the game, including a Collector’s Edition and a Jotnar edition which both include a 16″ Mjolnir replica. PlayStation Australia has now confirmed that pre-orders for God of War: Ragnarok will begin in Australia at 10:00am AEST on Friday, July 15th.
Sony has this morning announced its INZONE brand and alongside it revealed three new headsets as well as two monitors. The three headsets including the INZONE H9, INZONE H7 and INZONE H3 will all release in Late July in Australia. INZONE H9 costs $449.95 AUD and is a wireless Noise Cancelling Gaming Headset that offers Active noise cancelling/transparency modes, dual dongle/Bluetooth connectivity, 32 hour battery life and 360 spatial sound support.
Nintendo has finally announced that a Nintendo Direct is happening and thankfully it’s taking place at a great times for Aussie at 11pm AEST. It’s a Nintendo Direct Mini partner showcase that’s happening on Tuesday night with roughly 25 minutes of info on upcoming third-party Nintendo Switch games.
Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have announced that A Plague Tale: Requiem will be releasing on October 18th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC with the game also coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. The sequel to the 2019 cult favourite sees siblings Amicia and Hugo set off on a new adventure to uncover the mysteries set up by the first game and survive the harsh realities of medieval France.
SEGA has this morning announced Hyneas which is an online multiplayer shooter set in space that is releasing on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in 2023. The game is being created by Creative Assembly, who is the team behind the incredible Alien Isolation. Hyenas features 5 teams of 3 with the goal to be to rob a bunch of loot from other gangs in space. The best part about this is that the loot is nostalgic goodness from earth such as PEZ dispensers the SEGA Mega Drive and Sonic.

It’s not the Nintendo Direct were particularly after at this time of the year, but Nintendo has announced that Nintendo Direct focusing on Xenoblades Chronicles 3 is happening later this week. We’ll get to see 20 minutes of new information about the game ahead of it July launch. The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Direct will be taking place this Thursday at midnight.
Xbox has announced a week-long demo event starting next week as part of Summer Game Fest, where users will be able to sample over 30 upcoming games direct from their Xbox consoles.
Two short but stacked new gaming showcases appeared today, starting with a very special 25th Anniversary broadcast for Final Fantasy VII! The stream gave us info and new looks at four games in total, starting with the announcement that Final Fantasy VII Remake is dropping on Steam this weekend.
In a report from Try Hard Guides via the way of Tom Henderson, Sony is apparently hard at work on a “genuine professional controller” for the PlayStation 5, which is interesting at a time when the company is expected to reveal new hardware in the coming weeks. Much like Xbox’s Elite controller, which is marketed for hardcore gamers, the controller is set to include removable analogue sticks, trigger stops, and rear paddles.
During a tell-all interview, Bethesda’s Todd Howard has confirmed that the team’s next next game will be Fallout 5. Of course, their next game after Starfield is set to be The Elder Scrolls VI, but with that still in pre-production as most of the main development team works to get Starfield out the door, it’s probable we won’t see anything substantial on players’ return to the wasteland anytime soon.
Capcom held their annual showcase this morning and we got a few announcements. Resident Evil Village DLC was unveiled and it's coming on October 28th. Shadows of Rose is the major story expansion, where Ethan’s daughter Rose enters the consciousness of the megamycete to discover the truth about her powers. Additionally, new playable characters are coming to The Mercenaries including Lady Dimitrescu herself. The game will also be adding a third-person mode too.
Xbox held its annual Xbox + Bethesda showcase this morning and it was largely focused on games coming over the next 12 months. We got to see 15 minutes of Starfield gameplay including over 1000 planets that are visible, space fights both in the air and on land and way, way more. It was certainly impressive and you can watch the full gameplay on the website. Hideo Kojima is partnering with Xbox Game Studios to release a brand new Cloud game.
Xbox announced last year that it was going to be bringing Xbox Game Pass/Xbox Cloud Gaming to smart TVs without the need for an external device or a console. Today it has made good on that promise by announcing that it is partnering with Samsung to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming (through Xbox Game Pass) to 2022 Samsung TVs. It appears that the smart TV roll out will start with 2022 Samsung TVs on June 30th in 27 countries.
June's run of gaming showcases has already started, but even more events have been added to the schedule! The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase has been granted a second, extended feature that will show off even deeper looks at some of the titles in its main livestream on Monday. The 90-minute extended showcase will air the following Wednesday, June 15 at the typically-early time of 3AM AEST. --- Capcom and SEGA have both announced their own events to be aired in June, as well.
It’s been long rumoured that the classic Nintendo 64 game, GoldenEye 007 looks set to be released on Xbox’s platforms in the very near future. This started earlier this year when Xbox achieve tracking website such as TrueAchievements had Rare developers unlocking achievements for the unannounced game, but things have really heated up.
PlayStation aired a brand-new State of Play broadcast focusing on third-party and PlayStation VR2 announcements with some great new looks at gameplay and some welcome surprises. --- Capcom announced two new Resident Evil titles at State of Play, starting with the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil 4, which is coming to PS5 with content for PlayStation VR2 on March 24th, 2023. The game will have an updated narrative with modern visuals and gameplay in line with recent Resident Evil titles.
Summer Game Fest kingpin, Geoff Keighley, has announced more than 30 partner studios and publishers set to showcase their games and announcements over the course of festivities in June. We don’t yet know to what extent each will feature their content but based on names like PlayStation, Xbox, EA, Capcom and Square Enix it’s easy to get excited at what we might see, especially during some of the bigger livestream showcases.
June’s PlayStation Plus essential games look to have leaked from a brand new source. This time it comes by the way of Spanish website Areajugones, who isn’t the normal source, but have also revealed the games previously in the past.
PlayStation has announced a State of Play stream that will be taking place late next week (Friday). The stream will feature third party announcements as well as a look at several PlayStation VR2 games. The stream will last roughly 30 minutes. This comes after the announcement from PlayStation earlier this week that over PlayStation VR2 will launch with over 20+ games. The PlayStation State of Play stream will be taking place on Friday, June 3rd.
Sony has announced that Horizon Zero Dawn, God Of War and Gran Turismo TV shows are in development. The Horizon TV show will live on Netflix whilst God of War will live on Amazon Prime. A home for the Gran Turismo TV show has not yet been confirmed. Sony also said it has 10 projects currently in development based on PlayStation franchises, which includes the already-announced Last of Us TV show and the Ghost of Tsushima film.
PlayStation has announced in its latest earnings report that PlayStation VR2 will have 20+ first party and third party games at launch. So far, we know that Horizon Call of the Mountain will be one of these, but unfortunately don't know a lot else. We also still don't have a release date for PlayStation VR2+ yet, but expect that it'll launch either later this year or early next.
Activision appear to be doing things a little bit differently this year. There hasn’t been any kind of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reveal event, but the company has announced that the game will launch on October 28th alongside reveal of the artwork this morning.
To celebrate the 7th anniversary of the original release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, developer CD Projekt Red has given us a small update on the release date of its new-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X via a Twitter post. The oft-delayed release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, which was most recently rehomed at CDPR’s own in-house studio after originally being worked on by Saber Interactive, has now been given a “Q4 2022” release window.
PlayStation has followed up pricing for its new PlayStation Plus offering with a blog post detailing a bunch of PS5 and PS4 games coming to the service as well as a bunch of classic PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3 games (not in Australia) that will be launching alongside the service. As far as we can tell, this is only some of the games that will be there on launch day in June, but more will also be added following launch.
A Twitter user by the name of Dusk Golem has posted what they claimed were verified screenshots of an in-development Silent Hill game. The shots, which are said to date back to 2020, pictured a handful of environments and some character art and looked fairly convincing. Adding fuel to the fire, the images were swiftly removed and Dusk Golem's Twitter account locked, a move which they claim was handed down by Silent Hill's current IP owner, Konami.
Bethesda has announced that both Redfall and Starfield have both been delayed and will now release in the first half of 2023. In a statement posted on Twitter, Bethesda said that both Arkane Austin and Bethesda Game Studios have “incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them”. Xbox & Bethesda’s showcase is happening on June 13th where we’ll no doubt hear more about both of these games.
Warner Bros. Games dropped 14 minutes of brand new Gotham Knights footage overnight, showing off some slick Nightwing and Red Hood gameplay, but more interesting was the reveal that the game will be skipping last generation consoles and release exclusively on PS5, Xbox Series X&S and PC. In a statement provided alongside the trailer it's noted that the move to focus on these consoles was to provide the best gameplay experience.

Xbox and Epic Games have announced a partnership to make Fortnite the first free-to-play title available on browser-enabled devices running Xbox Cloud Gaming. As of today, all you need to get playing Fortnite via cloud streaming is a free Microsoft Account and a Windows PC, Android or iOS device with a web browser and to head to Xbox.com/Play. This marks the first time since the famous Apple vs Epic legal battle that the game has been readily available to play on iPhone or iPad devices.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has officially been announced, with developer Infinity Ward revealing the game's logo on social media. The game is expected to launch sometime this year, and is a successor to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which served as a soft reboot for the series. Beyond a logo, there still isn’t much known about the title, although rumours last year suggested the game might follow a U.S. Task Force going toe-to-toe with a Colombian cartel.
We’ve had to wait a while, but PlayStation has now revealed the Australian PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Deluxe prices on its official website. The brand new PlayStation Plus experience will launch on June 22nd. PlayStation Plus Essential is the existing PS+ offering and will set you back $11.95, $33.95 or $79.95 for one month, three months or 12 months respectively. PlayStation Plus Extra includes the PS5/PS4 games and will set you back $18.95, $54.95 or $135.
Sony has just confirmed its targeted rollout dates for the new tiered PlayStation Plus subscription, as it plans to roll the service out gradually across four global regions beginning in May. The new system, which splits PlayStation Plus into three distinct tiers with varying benefits is set to launch starting in select Asian markets in May, with the rest of the schedule spread out across June with Japan first, followed by the Americas and then Europe.
Deadline has reported that SEGA and Paramount are once again bringing a classic video game franchise to the big screen following the runaway success of the two Sonic the Hedgehog films, this time in the form of retro beat-em-up Streets of Rage. According to Deadline’s sources, the movie is being penned by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, and is in production at dj2 Entertainment who were behind Sonic the Hedgehog and its sequel and are also working on the movie adaptation of It Takes Two.
It's a big weekend for rumours and hints about future franchises this Easter long weekend, starting with something ~very~ big from Call of Duty Warzone. A fresh trailer for the upcoming new season of Warzone, titled Classified Arms, hints that something very big and very powerful may have been awakened in the form of none other than Godzilla.
In a special 20th Anniversary event for the Kingdom Hearts series held in Japan today, Square Enix has unveiled the franchise’s next mainline title, titled Kingdom Hearts 4. Capping off a video montage highlighting the future of Kingdom Hearts, the nearly three-minute trailer showcases some stunning visuals and sets a darker and somewhat more realistic art direction. There’s a tiny bit of combat gameplay included, too.
The BAFTA Games Awards event has come and gone once again, and in its 18th year has celebrated the excellence of the last year of gaming with some top-notch titles being awarded. Notably, it was PlayStation and Housemarque’s frantic sci-fi roguelike shooter Returnal that picked up the coveted ‘Best Game’ award, but there were some great wins for our local Australian talent as well.
Crystal Dynamics has announced that a brand new Tomb Raider game is on the way. Development has only just started but the team is using Unreal Engine 5 to build the game which will result in next-level story telling and gameplay experiences. The studio went on to say that it is their goal to “push the envelope of fidelity and to deliver the high quality cinematic action adventure experience that fans deserve from the Tomb Raider franchise”.
Thank god this wasn't announced on April Fools' Day as it's almost too good to believe. Devolver Digital and LucasFilm has today announced that Return to Monkey Island is releasing later this year. it's a sequel to Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2 and it's being created by the incredible Ron Gilbert. We don't know a whole lot about the game outside of the fact that it's coming this year, but there's also an epic trailer to go along with the announcement.
It feels like it’s been an age since we’ve seen a multi-game update to Nintendo Switch Online’s retro database, especially for those still on the standard subscription sans N64 and Mega Drive titles. At any rate, today sees three new titles added to the NES and SNES collections for subscribers to fire up and enjoy – notably the SNES version of the platforming classic Earthworm Jim 2.
After being digital for the last two years, the ESA has confirmed that E3 has been fully cancelled in 2022. This means there will be absolutely no E3 this year, although I’m not sure how much that means to the average reader as I’m sure that the likes of Xbox, Nintendo and Ubisoft will still hold digital conferences in June.
As was rumoured earlier this week, PlayStation has announced it’s expanded PlayStation Plus subscription service. It’s still PlayStation Plus but it now will be split into three tiers come June 2022. PlayStation Plus essential (the same as what we know PlayStation Plus to be now), PlayStation Plus Extra which will add 400 PS4/PS5 games and be $14.
According to a fresh report on Bloomberg, PlayStation’s long-rumoured answer to Xbox Game Pass could be revealed sooner than we think. Citing sources familiar with the plans, the report says that the service (which is codenamed Project Spartacus) could finally be unveiled in the coming week.
Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 6 is free to play from today until March 29th on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Not only will you be able to play the full game, but you’ll also be able to play any of the DLC that has released to date including the Vaas Insanity, Pagan Min’s Control and Joseph’s Collapse as well as the Stranger Things, Rambo and Danny Rojas DLC.
PlayStation has announced that a new PS5 system update is dropping today and has finally given an update on VRR, which is said to be coming in the “coming months”. PlayStation has released the first screenshot for the VRR setting on PS5 and it will allow you to use it for games that don’t support it as well.
Illfonic, the developers behind games such as Friday The 13th and Predator Hunting Grounds have today announced Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. The game is set to launch later this year for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One and follows in the footsteps of the previously mentioned games. You’ll take on the role of one of four brave Ghostbusters or take on the role of a ghastly ghost in order to see who comes out on top.
It has finally happened. Nintendo has just dropped Nintendo Switch Update 14.0.0 and after five years, we finally have support for folders, or as Nintendo are calling them “groups”. You’re able to create up to 100 groups with a max of 200 games per group. As far as we can say, there’s no limit to which games you can add to groups and you’re able to name them whatever you like.
Almost two years after the game was revealed we finally got an extensive look at the new Harry Potter game, Hogwarts Legacy this morning, with 15 minutes of gameplay footage showing off everything from spells, to enemies, to the incredible open world. Unfortunately no release date was given outside of Holiday 2022, although we feel a lot more confident about that now given how much gameplay footage we saw this morning. The game is releasing on x for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.

It’s been a good number of years, but PAX Australia has announced that it will be back in action this year, after it announced dates last year and had to subsequently cancel the event due to the ongoing pandemic. This year, PAX will be taking place from October 7th till October 9th and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Xbox has announced the first batch of Xbox Game Pass games for March and they’ve kicked things off with a bang with the announcement that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (one of the best games of last year) will be coming to the service on March 10th.
Hot off the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus last month, The Pokémon Company has just announced Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet releasing for the Nintendo Switch. While the reveal only shows some brief snippets of the world, the game looks to be a blend of Sword and Shield and Legends: Arceus, set in an all new region that will no doubt bring along new Pokémon.
Late last night two of March’s PlayStation Plus games leaked and now the whole lineup has been revealed. Those on PS5 will be able to get Ghostrunner (a fantastic game) whilst those on both PS4 and PS5 will be able to get Ark Survival Evolved, Team Sonic Racing and Ghost of Tsushima Legends (the multiplayer mode). GTA Online launches on PS5 on March 15th and technically that’ll be available for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers as well.
It looks like the PlayStation VR2 details are going to start coming in thick and fast. PlayStation has today revealed the PlayStation VR2 headset design, final PlayStation VR2 Sense controller design as well as a bunch of new details. The brand new headset has been designed with ergonomics and comfort in mind whilst clearly fitting in with the PS5 design.
Capcom’s countdown has ended and they have just announced that Street Fighter 6 is officially on the way. A short 40 second teaser trailer was shown off featuring Ryu as well as Street Fighter 5’s Luke. Whilst the teaser trailer doesn’t reveal a whole lot, it does look to be taking a more realistic graphical approach, likely using the RE Engine that is most known for use with the more recent Resident Evil games.
To celebrate the launch of Horizon Forbidden West, PlayStation has dropped a massive 7 metre by 3 metre Clawstrider machine from Horizon Forbidden West in Sydney’s Botanical Gardens overlooking the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The Clawstrider will also be in 15 other iconic cities around the world.
CD Projekt Red has dropped the long-awaited PS5/Xbox Series X update of Cyberpunk 2077 and it delivers on what was originally promised for the game.
CD Projekt Red announced that they were hosting a stream at 2am AEDT tomorrow morning, without really revealing too much about what would be featured, but it looks like we now know. It looks like the stream will reveal the PS5/Xbox Series X versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and it also looks like both versions will drop soon after the stream ends.
Activision has confirmed that this year’s Call of Duty game is a sequel to Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). The game is being developed by Infinity Ward and it will utilise a brand new engine. Further to this, the game as well as a brand new Call of Duty: Warzone experience will be built from the ground up and players can expect a “massive evolution of battle royale with an all-new play space and a new sandbox mode”.
Nintendo held their first Nintendo Direct of 2022 today and there were truly more announcements that we can even fit into this bulletin. Head to the site for all the announcements but here are your highlights. Nintendo Switch Sports is the successor to Wii Sports and it's coming on April 29th. It will launch with six sports including Soccer, Volleyball, Tennis, Bowling, Badminton and Swordplay with Golf to launch in a free update later on.
Nintendo has announced the first Nintendo Direct of 2022. It’ll take place on Thursday morning and last 40 minutes focusing “mainly” on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2022. Whilst we don’t know for sure what games this includes, it’s safe to assume that the latest Kirby game, Splatoon 3 and potentially a party game such as a sequel to 1-2 Switch will all be featured. I think we’ll see some kind of major surprise thrown in there too.
Rockstar has finally confirmed that the next Grand Theft Auto game is officially on the way. In a blog post that updated us on all things Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V had unprecedented longevity but that the next Grand Theft Auto is officially in active development. “With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.
The next couple of months will be absolutely stellar for PlayStation owners, with Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and Sifu all launching in succession. PlayStation players can add another exciting title to this already incredible line-up now that GhostWire: Tokyo is expected to release on March 25, 2022 or March 22nd if you buy the Ultimate Edition of the game.
It feels like every second day we wake up to the news that Sony or Microsoft has acquired a major publisher and today is one of those days. PlayStation has announced that it is buying Bungie for $3.6 billion dollars (US). Bungie is the original creator of Halo and owner of the Destiny IP.
We’ve been talking about the Halo TV show for so long now, but it’s finally about to drop. Paramount has revealed that the Halo TV show will premiere on March 24th on Paramount+. To celebrate the release date dropping, we got our first full trailer coming in at over two minutes. The trailer gives us a look at the Chief, some of the franchises most popular vehicles, enemies and weapons and shows the Halo universe like we’ve never seen it before. --- No leaks this month.
The Twitter account PlayStation Game Size has noted that Horizon Forbidden West has been uploaded to the PlayStation database and it’s going to take up the largest amount of space that any first-party PS5 game has yet. According to the Twitter account, the game will take up roughly 96.3GB here in Australia, which is more than 15% of your entire PS5 storage. Horizon Forbidden West is less than a month away. It releases on February 18th for PS5/PS4.
The Epic Store is holding a holiday sale event that can only be described as… epic. On top of discounting a huge range of titles up to 75% off, the store is also giving away one free game a day and handing out an unlimited number of AUD $15 off vouchers. It’s official! Ubisoft has announced that it’s begun work on a Splinter Cell remake at its Ubisoft Toronto studio. The Toronto studio explains that the team considers this a remake – and not a remaster – due to the fact that they’re rebuilding it from the ground up and taking inspiration both from the original games as well as modern titles. Not much else is known at this stage, but we're sure to hear more in the coming months.
Square Enix fans on PC have been left somewhat shell-shocked in the aftermath of Friday's The Game Awards showcase, with both the upcoming action adventure Forspoken and the Epic Games Store port of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade sporting fairly hefty price tags. Each game has been positioned at US $70, with Forspoken nabbing an AUD $115 conversion and Final Fantasy VII Remake yet to be clarified locally.
One of gaming's biggest events for the year, The Game Awards, aired on Friday and brought with it a ton of new announcements, trailers and – of course – awards celebrating the industry's biggest achievements and best titles in 2021. Alan Wake II got a surprise reveal at the show, with creator Sam Lake taking the stage to announce that the sequel would be a new take on the survival horror genre. Valve has announced via a blog post that their super-powered handheld gaming PC, the Steam Deck, has been delayed until 2022. First shipments for the device have been pushed back two months from December of this year to February, based on the company’s estimates. This means that everybody in the pre-order queue will maintain their position, albeit with a two-month delay.
A hacker group by the name of Fail0verflow has claimed on Twitter that they’ve managed to make significant progress in breaking open the PlayStation 5’s security. The group revealed that they’ve gotten hold of the console's “root keys”, unique passcodes that can allow users to decrypt its firmware and cause it to perform functions outside of the intended use.
Skydance New Media, a new studio headed up by Amy Hennig, the Creative Director and writer on the first three Uncharted games, has announced a partnership with Marvel Entertainment to create a brand new game based on an unannounced Marvel property. Netflix has dropped a huge new trailer for the second season of its wildly successful The Witcher series. A number of Oculus Quest Pro leaks look to have started hitting the internet this morning. These leaks come courtesy of a number of setup videos that found their way onto the internet. Rockstar has finally revealed the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definition Edition release date and it's not far away! The games will release digitally this November 11th and then physically almost a month later on December 6th. The Trilogy includes Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and will release on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
God of War is the latest PlayStation exclusive to make its way to PC. The game will release January 14th 2022. The announcement comes as Sony confirms that 19.5 million copies of the game has sold on PS4. On PC, the game will feature 4K resolution and unlocked framerates. The PC version will also include a wide range of graphical presets and options. It’ll also include higher resolution shadows and improved screen space reflections using GTAO and SSDO.
Google has announced the long-awaited Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro overnight and whilst we were already familiar with a lot of these details, it’s still exciting to have them fully revealed. After it leaked last week, Sony has now announced two new DualSense colours. One of the controllers is called Midnight Black and just as the name suggests, it's an all black controller. Sony has now confirmed that PlayStation Plus Video Pass is a new PlayStation Plus incentive that will be in testing in Poland for the next 12 months. Over the 12 months, the service will bring 20 movies and televisions shows from Sony Pictures with new content being added every three months. Capcom held the latest Resident Evil showcase and there were a bunch of announcements. Capcom announced three more demoes for Resident Evil Village, but strap in because the timings are confusing. Bloomberg is reporting more information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch model that is set to launch later this year. As expected, the report confirms that the new Nintendo Switch will use a new NVIDIA chip that will support DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling).
