For those that want a better relationship, communication is a focal point that needs attention.

Here are 3 Communication Tips To Enrich Your Relationship

Show notes Listen To Understand I've heard so many people, now that we are in the holidays interrupt and speak what THEY wanted to get across instead of just listening to get understanding.

We have to remember that when we are communicating its a two-way street and if you're not allowing the other person to do his/her fair share of talking or listening, then you're not communicating. Instead, this is a type of communication that goes against every fiber of great communication. In the IT world, we would call that a DDoS attack. Translated this stands for Denial of service attack or the ping of death.

The point of this type of communication is to overwhelm and cause harm to the listening party.

When you allow the other party to respond and you're listening to understand, you make them feel worthy, appreciated and more willing to talk to you again in the same manner.

In the podcast, we mention Episode #2; where we talk about building each other up.

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Your Anger There's a bible verse that backs this one up.

25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 “In your anger do not sin”[a]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.

Ephesians 4:25-27

So why would we want to avoid anger before we go to sleep?

One train of thought is that when we are sleeping, our subconscious mind is not sleeping. In fact, our subconscious mind never sleeps.

if we are to be vigilant about improving our lives and relationships, we need to be thinking on things that are good.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Phillipians 4:8

Talk To Each Other During The Day Many times we get wrapped up in our day and forget that we have a partner working hard as well to bring in the finances we need to live and enjoy our lives.

What would it mean to your spouse if you were to just send a simple text to them?

Do you ever think to call on a break or at lunchtime?

Now, these are just a couple of simple little things that can really turn around a day for your spouse. Use your imagination and be creative on how you can improve your partner's day.

Adversity can make or break a couple – if they let it.

You’ve heard stories and seen movies about couples that go through adversity like caring for a sick family member over a long period of time or financial struggles and other seemingly insurmountable odds. The struggle was too much and they split up.

We’ve also heard opposite stories of couples banding together and becoming stronger as they weather the storm together.

What is the difference? What is their secret?

  • Relationship with God – When we rely on God, we don’t have to shoulder the burden alone and feel the intense weight of it. It is important that we look to the One greater than ourselves.
  • Look outward – When we go through struggle it’s tempting to look inward and think about how difficult times are and what we don’t have. In those times, we need to remember to look outward and see that others are going through a hard time, too. God will often ask us to help someone else when we are going through something difficult because he knows there is healing in it for us.
  • Treat each other with kindness – Pain and discomfort often bring out the worst in our attitudes. It’s during times like this that we need to take a step back and have more patience with our loved ones, particularly or partners. It can be tempting to lash out with our words in a space that feels safe, but we need to remember that our significant other is most likely hurting as well and treat them with patience and kindness.
  • Communication – We need to talk with our partners regularly to maintain an understanding of what we are feeling and what we need. Reach out and ask for help when necessary. Communication helps squelch added struggles that arise from lack of talking to each other.
  • Equally yoked – Shoulder the burdens of the struggle together. Better yet, throw the burden on God’s shoulders and follow him together with your partner. God has the perfect plan for your life.

What are some strategies you have used that have helped you and your partner stick together during a struggle? Please leave a note in the comments below. Your message could help another couple in need.

Jon and Jess the Relationship Revivalists uncover the
missing ingredient to happiness.

So often we look for happiness in our significant other, but
that doesn’t work for the long-term.

We need to find our happiness in God first.

Jon and Jess look back to Adam and Eve in Genesis.

Some notes about God’s character:

  • He loves to take what we trust him with and work it out.
  • He watches over us closely.
  • He protects us.
  • He is uncontainable.
  • He is love, peace, and joy. He doesn’t just give these, he is.
  • He is the author of relationship. We learn how to have good relationships from our relationship with him.
  • He is our source.

Jon and Jess conclude with a reminder that “the joy of the
Lord is our strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). Joy is an important must-have to carry
on.

Scriptures mentioned in this podcast:

  • Genesis 2:24
  • Genesis 3:8
  • Nehemiah 8:10

Jon and Jess allude to an exciting project they have been
working on so look for more news to come.

Show Notes Take time out to schedule vacations. It doesn't matter how short in the beginning. It's a win to get away but to get at least a days drive away is an even bigger win.

Start with weekend short trips to get out of the house and detox from the hustle of the day/week.

You need to have downtime for your own sanity. Getting downtime together is the best downtime. So set your goals for alone time with your mate.

Structure your priorities to get your relaxation time when you need it. That means lining up sitters for pets and children. Ask Family if available but do not expect them to watch your children and/or pets.

Plan on spending money on supervision and then whatever you plan on for vacation expenses.

Something we did not cover in this episode is should you be putting your kids first when it comes to your downtime and relaxation? Let us know in the comments what your take is on this subject.

Does God have control over all the details? There are 2 trains of thought that we hear all the time about what God does for us. Most of the time if it fits into our way of doing things that is the story we believe.

So in todays podcast, we decided to talk about these 2 sides of the story and how only one of them makes the most sense.

The story that says God isn't in control of the details Just like the title says above, we hear all the time that God isn't in control of our destiny. The defense that is offered is that God created us with free will.

That's true to a point.

But when you know the character of God, you also know that that very free will has to do with our decisions to walk away from what God has done for us already - making things much more difficult to live a prosperous life as stated in the new testament by Jesus.

The scripture to back up the story of God having control over your destiny. Now if you're looking to have a relationship that gives glory to God, you know that there are at least one verse in the bible that will support God having control over the relationships you have.

Jeremiah 29:11 says...

This very verse states that He already knows the plans He has for you. Meaning he loves you so much that He's taken a vested interest in your future.

So, does he have control over the details in your life?

I'd say an emphatic, YES!

Show Notes Talking about being equally yoked in relationship means so much.

What if God had someone else in mind for me but I'm already married?

Through the relationships that we have there is a heartbreak that we experience when things don't work out like we expected them to work out. When that happens there's a chance that brokenhearted emotions set in.

So in today's post we are going to talk about the love notes for brokenhearted people. Hopefully, we can encourage you to get through the hard times and know that you will see better times ahead.

After all, you have never seen a person down in the dumps all of their lives, right?

Show Notes For Episode 33 Love Notes For The BrokenHearted Jeremiah 31:3 3 The Lord appeared to us in the past,[a] saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Jessica shared with us how, when she was a 4 year old, she went to a meeting with her mom and the pastor called up the children to the stage and Jessica went on her own accord.

After all the talking was done to the parents and adults, the pastor spoke to the children and then to Jess. He told her a word from the Lord and quoted Jeremiah 31:3.

Clothing In The Spirit Clothing yourself with love is what we all desire in the physical, but everything starts in the spiritual. So start clothing yourself in LOVE from the start - in the spirit.

That's just the start of things when it comes to clothing yourself in the spirit.

There's Jeremiah 29:11 where we are able to cloth ourselves with hope for the future

In Isaiah 61:10, clothing ourselves with joy, salvation, along with the robe of righteousness.

As we cloth ourselves in the fruits of the spirit, we realize that there are times that might make us a little nervous and that's when we are able to know that we can be right under his wing. The name of the lord is our strong tower!

How exciting is this to know we have at our disposal the power, might and clothing to do God's work in our lives. Relationships are what we are created to learn here on Earth.

Give yourself a head start by getting dressed in the spirit and then keeping those clothes perfect by hiding under Gods wing.

Romans 8:38-39 states that we cannot be separated from God's love.

Knowing these verses inside and out without having to consult the bible is how you'll see them come alive in your life.

David Asks For Mercy According to your UNFAILING LOVE is how he knows he is still loved even after committing adultery and murder.

Love keeps no records of wrong (Corinthians)

Final Thoughts Through our knowing who God is in our life, we are able to apply these things to our relationship. Jess states in the podcast that typically the problems exist when we are believing something about us that isn't true.

It's never really truly us that is the problem when we have relationship problems... or is it?!

Relationship problems directly affect us but that doesn't mean that it's our fault. That has to be analyzed and almost all the time, you'll find the tif you start going into a mode of improving yourself, you'll start seeing your partner reflect what you've done to improve yourself.

Making you better is the best answer for solving relationship issues. Which is why we tell you of God's love towards you. It should be encouraging to know you can be loved no matter what state you're in right now.

We hope you get answers and encouragement in this episode of love for the brokenhearted.

Today we live in a world full of social media that encourages us to take selfies, do videos to help others get to know one another. That's great but when does it go too far? That's when we need to know how to deal with and heal narcissism.

Part 2 of our discussion is going to be finishing up what we started :) Below are the show notes that you can use to follow along in our podcast.

Common Traits Of A Narcissist * Sense of entitlement / superior * Lack of empathy * manipulative * need for admiration (strong) * selfish more than giving * more aggression than usual

Let's be clear here. We all, at times, have at least one of these in our lives. It's up to us to realize that which shouldn't belong and improve ourselves day by day.

It's the person that has a majority of these traits that crosses the line which then the narcissist label is applied.

Difficulty Taking Feedback Practice Mindfulness Be Realistic With Yourself. * The devil drives someone to action (check out episode 3) * God leads through compassion and love (check out episode 30) * Perfection is never expected by God. Where the spirit of the lord is there is liberty. (check out episode 24) * Being perfect in the bible means to be spiritually mature (check out episode 7)

Be Honest With Yourself. A Quick Side Note It's quite interesting that God would put scriptures about love and relationship in the same area of the bible. What ORGANIZATION!

Getting back to how to deal with and heal narcissism. You have to believe the truth, and in truth. If you have no solid and firm beliefs, the question has to be asked.

What do you believe in and how easily will it be to take you down a road that was meant for your destruction?

We believe that the best way to get narcissism out of your life is to start working on improving yourself first and then watch the change happen in your mate.

A narcissist would make you believe that whatever he/she says is ultimate truth and you’re there to serve and make their way a priority.

Narcissism is a thing that people don't like to talk about until they get into a relationship with one. That's when they want to figure out how to deal with and heal narcissism for their partner.

This is exactly what we are going to talk about in this episode.

Show Notes 1. Listen To Yourself Speak Proverbs 3:5-6 - 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths

  1. Self Inventory Proverbs 1:10-14 My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them. 11 If they say, “Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for innocent blood, let’s ambush some harmless soul; 12 let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit; 13 we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder; 14 cast lots with us; we will all share the loot”

One really good question to ask yourself after reading this verse is: "Do you think you’re getting more out of the relationship than what is healthy??

  1. Reinforce Positive Behavior Most don't realize that a relationships can be more than just satisfactory. God made relationship and he wanted you to have the best relationship EVER!

God has been very clear as to how we can have a relationship with him as well with each other that is so fulfilling that we would choose to have no other way to have this relationship.

Today, we are discussing God's way to have a successful relationship that exudes explosive love from every angle you look at it.

Show Notes 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Ephesians 4:32
32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 5:21
21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

DOWNLOAD 7 SECRETS EBOOK These are just a few of the verses that God shows us how to have an explosive love type of relationship.

Additional Thoughts We know that God's way to have a successful relationship works because that's how we live to the best we know how to live.

There are other ways that have been tried but they always end up in disarray when it comes down to it.

Keep things going with God and make him FIRST in EVERYTHING, including your relationship.

We posted not so long ago about the main things that keep a relationship together and if you don't follow this one rule, the relationship can go south really quick.

So be sure to love your partner with all your heart and soul. And do it God's way to have a successful relationship. THere's so much in love and relationship that God wants for us if we just follow His lead.

Be good to each other and things will grow like you want them to grow.
