I’ve spent nine years migrating systems, paying for consultants, and chasing shiny dashboards, only to learn one simple truth.
There is no magical platform that builds a profitable, stress free business for you. Software does not build businesses. Business owners do. The best tools for coaching business owners simply remove friction from the things you were already committed to doing.
In this episode, I share the best tools for coaching business owners who want more structure, less mental load, and better support systems for their clients. We talk about GoHighLevel for pipeline and simplification, Marco Polo for real time coaching support, BigVU for showing up on camera with confidence, Virtually Myself for capturing and protecting your intellectual property, and Tide for focus and CEO time.
If you are tired of migrating and want to simplify, this is your reminder to choose something good enough, learn it properly, and get back to the work that actually moves the needle. The best tools for coaching business owners are the ones that give you back your brain space.

A client asking for a discount mid contract can feel like a punch in the gut. Your brain goes straight to value, rejection, and worst-case scenarios, even when the work is solid and the relationship is good.
In this episode, I share a real story from a digital marketing agency owner whose client asked to lower her monthly price by two-thirds halfway through a three month engagement. The surprising part is that he was not unhappy and the results were not the issue.
I take a look at what to do when a client wants to lower their investment, how to stop taking it personally and how to get curious about what is really driving the request. Often it is cash flow and timing, not a lack of trust or a lack of value.
You will hear the three options you have in this situation, and why restructuring payments can sometimes protect your scope, your revenue, and the relationship at the same time.

If your sales calls feel warm and promising, but the follow-up dies in the inbox, this episode will hit a nerve. We’re talking about the sneaky gap between “that was such a great chat” and “why did they disappear?”, and why it’s rarely your offer, your price, or your personality. Most of the time, it’s simpler than that. The call had no structure, so nothing moved forward.
You’ll hear a repeatable way to run a clarity or discovery call that still feels human, but actually goes somewhere. We cover how to choose one clear offer before you even jump on the call, how to anchor the conversation in the client’s transformation (not your list of deliverables), and how to lead without dominating the airtime. It’s about listening properly, reflecting what you’re hearing, and earning the right to present a solution that fits.
We’ll also get into the moment most people talk themselves out of the sale, how to hold your nerve when it’s time to make the offer, and why pricing should match the outcome, not the clock. Then we finish where money often leaks: the next step. Not vague “let’s stay in touch” energy, but a clear, kind, time-bound close that keeps momentum alive.

A quiet week in business can mess with your head fast. One minute you’re fine, the next you’re wondering how to get more clients and whether you need to change everything. In this episode, I’m sharing a simple metaphor that brings you back to strategy, not panic: turn on the tap.
Every business has a “tap”, a handful of actions that reliably create opportunities when you actually do them. The problem is we forget, we get busy, and we start chasing shiny new tactics instead of switching back on what already works.
You’ll hear the four taps I look for first: relationship taps, visibility taps, invitation taps, and generosity taps. Plus, I’ll walk you through how to create your own “tap map” so you always know what to do next when things slow down.
If you’re ready to stop reinventing the business every time it goes quiet, this is your reset. Pick one tap, turn it on this week, and build momentum from there.

You don’t need longer sales conversations. You just need a cleaner process. In this episode, I share a little story about a 15-minute coaching conversation that completely turned a client's business trajectory around. If you’ve ever had a few inquiries fall through and immediately concluded you’re just "terrible at sales," this is your permission slip to stop overcomplicating things.
We dive deep into why you don't need longer sales conversations. Nobody wants to sit there for an hour - you just need them to be cleaner. I break down the common process traps that keep service providers stuck in information overload, distracted in the "cracks" of their day, and losing out on dream clients.
You'll learn how to switch from phone calls to high-trust Zoom connections, why structure always beats pure instinct and how to execute a thoughtful, human follow-up process that converts without the "ick". Before you go redesigning your offers or changing your prices, let's look at the actual evidence and clean up your conversations.

Want more referrals in your business? Let's start with basic manners. Before you roll your eyes, this isn’t an etiquette lesson, it’s about why skipping the relationship building in business is quietly eroding your growth and giving your network the ick.
In this episode, I share two recent experiences that made me pause and realise how common it has become to confuse digital access with a genuine relationship. In an era dominated by AI, cold funnels, and automated messages, true relationships are a competitive advantage because they are the one thing that can't be replicated.
I discuss why familiarity should breed thoughtfulness rather than assumptions, the dangers of letting your personal urgency dictate your manners, and the three simple filters you need to run your communication through before hitting send. If you want a business built on long-term trust, sustainable referrals, and real revenue, it’s time to put relationships first and opportunities second.

If your sales feel like a feast and famine cycle, you’re not broken. You’re just relying on bursts of effort instead of a rhythm you can keep when you’re busy, and that’s why the panic months keep showing up.
In this episode, I’m sharing the simple daily framework I use to build consistent sales without burning out. It’s called the 3-2-1 rhythm, and it’s designed for real business owners who are juggling delivery, clients, and a life.
We’ll break down what counts as a reach out, why follow ups are where most money gets left on the table, and how one simple post keeps you visible without turning you into a content machine. The goal is not intensity; it’s repetition that compounds.
If you want a pipeline that stays warm even when you’re flat out, this will give you a clean place to start. Try it for two weeks and tell me what shifts for you.

Are you staying nice on the outside while fuming on the inside? In this episode, I help you understand how to give clear feedback as a leader without causing a massive blowout or hurting someone's feelings. Most leadership friction in growing businesses isn’t a strategy problem; it’s an avoidance problem.
I give you some advice on how to ditch the outdated "feedback sandwich" and replace it with a powerful, fact-based framework called SBI (Situation, Behaviour, Impact).
You will learn how to manage the emotional stories in your head, check your true intent, and approach your team with curiosity instead of reaction.
I also give you some neuroscience hacks to create a brain-friendly space so your message actually lands instead of sending your team into defence mode.
Stop waiting for your team to "just know" the boundaries and start leading with clear, respectful communication that builds trust and drives business growth.

If you’ve been told to post more, show up more, and be everywhere, this episode is your permission slip to stop treating visibility like the goal. Visibility matters, especially early, but if you’re still hustling for every sale years in, it starts to feel like a treadmill that never switches off.
We unpack the shift from visibility to positioning using a simple lighthouse test, plus a real example of what it looks like when a buyer arrives already warm, already trusting you, and basically already sold. No chasing, no convincing, no heavy lifting.
You’ll hear the core building blocks that move you from being seen to being chosen, and the mindset shift that makes it stick. If sales feels harder than it should, or you keep attracting the wrong clients, this will help you figure out what’s actually going on and where to start.

If you’re burnt out as a leader, it’s probably not because you’re lazy or disorganised. It’s because you keep picking up “monkeys” that were never yours to carry, and you’ve slowly become the bottleneck while everyone else clocks out at 5.
If you've been trying to figure out how to delegate without losing control or feeling like you're abandoning your team, this is for you.
In this episode, I share the simple question that changes everything, plus the mindset shift that stops you rescuing and teaches you how to delegate effectively. It’s about keeping ownership where it belongs, while still supporting your team with clarity and rhythm so things actually move.
We also talk about why being clear is kind, and how unclear expectations ruin your ability to learn how to delegate successfully, creating frustration, performance issues, and awkward conversations later. You’ll hear what intentional leadership looks like in real life, including the regular conversations that prevent surprises and help your team grow without drama.
If you care deeply about your people but you’re tired of carrying everything, this one will land. What’s one monkey you’re ready to put down this week?

If you’re somewhere between $100k and $500k in revenue and thinking, “Why does this feel harder now?”, welcome to the messy middle of business. You’re not in the startup phase anymore, but you’re also not running a calm, well oiled machine. Things are working… but they’re also not working.
In this season, the chaos isn’t a sign you’re failing. It’s feedback. More clients, more moving parts, more expectations, and suddenly the cracks show. You drop balls, your calendar becomes a mess, and the old strategies that used to work stop feeling reliable.
We’ll talk about the sneaky pipeline drought that hits right after a strong quarter, why undercharging becomes obvious in this phase, and how “doing everything yourself” turns into the biggest bottleneck. This is also where mindset matters, because growth can mess with your confidence even when revenue is rising.
If you’re in the messy middle of business, here are your next steps: keep the pipeline warm, price for outcomes, delegate one draining task, and know your numbers (profit, not just revenue). The messy middle isn’t permanent, but it does require a new way of operating.

Hiring is one of those business milestones that sounds simple until you’re the one doing it, and because most of us aren’t hiring every week, it’s easy to second guess yourself, delay it, or rush it when you’re already exhausted. In this episode, we’re talking about why so many women put hiring off for too long, what hiring fear really looks like in a growing business, and why “I’ll just keep doing it myself” quietly becomes the most expensive option.
I’m sharing what I’ve learned from sitting on every side of the hiring table, from recruiter to HR Director to coach, and the patterns I see over and over when business owners start hiring. We’ll unpack the real cost of a bad hire (it’s not just money), and why messy hiring decisions tend to leak into your time, your energy, your confidence, and your team.
You’ll also hear the simple hiring framework I come back to when I want hiring to feel calm and commercial: getting clear on what to delegate, writing a position description that actually attracts the right person, hiring for skill and will, and building a basic interview process and onboarding plan so you’re not winging it. If hiring has been sitting on your to do list for months, this is your nudge to stop overthinking and start getting clear.

Ever feel like you’re sprinting through the week, ticking every box, and still going nowhere? This episode is for the high-performing business women who are doing a lot, moving fast, and quietly feeling flat.
This year I picked a word: intentional. Which sounds simple, until you realise it means slowing down long enough to hear yourself think, and pausing before you say yes just because you can.
I’m sharing what I’m practising instead, like tiny moments of silence between meetings, quiet walks and sleeping on decisions so I stop reacting at lightning speed. It has changed how I lead my business.
If you’ve been wondering how to escape the productivity trap, take one small step this week. Create one pocket of space, even five minutes, and notice what changes. Not in your to do list, in you.

This one’s for the business owners who keep buying the blueprint.
The “proven” content plan or the foolproof sales script. The morning routine that apparently turns you into a millionaire by Thursday. You see it work for someone else and you think, cool, I’ll just do that. Easy.
Except you try it and it feels like you’re wearing shoes that don’t fit. They look great on, and you technically can walk in them, but every step is uncomfortable, forced, and annoying.
I’m sharing a few simple client examples that show how one small change in process can make content feel easy and sound like you again, plus how to use “forced vs flow” as data instead of a reason to beat yourself up. We’ll also unpack the sneaky danger of business “shoulds” and why doing less can sometimes create more traction.
Listen in, then ask yourself this. What are you doing because it’s proven, even though it doesn’t suit you? And what would change if you gave yourself permission to do it your way instead?

This one’s personal. A “minor” ankle injury forced me to stop, and I didn’t realise how much I rely on my regulators (walking and running) to keep steady until it was suddenly gone.
While I was benched, I also had a routine skin check, and it brought up more emotion than I expected after last year’s melanoma. I told myself it was fine, filed it away, and kept going. Then I jumped on a call with Serena, my sister and business manager, and one simple question opened the floodgates.
In this episode, I’m talking about what happens when your “regulator” gets taken away, why stress can stack up quietly until you feel flat and heavy, and how to find your way back without needing some big dramatic reset. I’ll also give you a few questions to help you spot your early warning signs, protect the thing that keeps you well, and make sure you’ve got someone in your corner who won’t let “I’m fine” be the end of the conversation.

Overcoming self-doubt isn’t about thinking positive thoughts and hoping they stick. It’s about challenging the stories you’ve been telling yourself and checking whether there’s any real evidence behind them. In this episode, I’m sharing a moment from a Go-Getter Day in Brisbane that perfectly captured how quickly we turn one experience into a fixed identity.
A woman sat down and told me, “I’m not very good at sales.” Instead of agreeing (or trying to pep talk her), I asked one simple question: “What’s your evidence?” Her evidence was one sales call and that call led to a proposal and a sale. One call. One proposal. One sale. A 100% conversion rate… yet her story was still self-doubt.
This is what so many of us do in business: we base our identity on tiny data sets. We treat a lack of reps as a lack of ability. We confuse discomfort with incompetence. And then we stop before we’ve even collected enough evidence to know what we’re capable of.

Everyday kindness has a way of finding you when you least expect it. In this episode, I’m sharing a story that wasn’t planned, but one that became a lesson I couldn’t keep to myself. A few weeks ago, I fell into a gap on a dark street and landed awkwardly on rocks… just hours before I was due to fly to Brisbane for our first Go-Getters Day.
I still got on the plane (because sometimes you don’t get perfect conditions, you just keep moving). But what happened next surprised me: everyday kindness showed up everywhere. I was reminded that kindness is alive and well. It truly matters more than we realise.
This episode is also a gentle nudge about support. So many women are high-functioning, capable, and used to pushing through… but there’s a point where “I can handle it” becomes “I refuse to be supported.” That might seem like a strength, but it’s actually just a habit.
If you’ve been feeling stretched, tired, or like you’re carrying too much alone, let this be your reminder: you don’t have to do it all the hard way.

What really makes a business retreat powerful?
In this episode, I’m taking you behind the scenes of our Crowned for Success Retreat inside the Thriving Women Program and sharing what actually creates transformation when women come together in the right space. It’s not just the beautiful setting, the thoughtful details, or the polished photos. It’s what happens when women finally have room to slow down, reflect, and hear themselves think.
I talk about why retreats matter so much for women in business, especially when life and work are already full. We cover the importance of creating space, building real connection, and helping women find clarity around what matters most in their business. I also share why simplifying your offers, protecting your energy, and stepping away from the noise can create more momentum than constantly doing more.
This episode also goes into the unexpected magic of play, surprise, and shared experiences. From strategy sessions to a scavenger hunt around Melbourne, I reflect on how laughter, honesty, and community can create breakthroughs that a standard workshop simply can’t. Sometimes the biggest shifts happen in the pauses, the conversations over dinner, and the moments you never could have planned.

What do our children learn from us when we’re not even trying to teach them? In this episode, I share the moment my 12-year-old daughter started her own business, complete with a Canva brochure and letterbox drop strategy, and why it stopped me in my tracks. It was one of those moments that made me realise just how much our kids are watching, absorbing, and learning from the way we live.
This conversation goes deeper than parenting. It’s about conscious living, the patterns we pass on, and the environments we create at home, in business, and in our relationships. I reflect on a simple sleepover tradition, a small moment of gratitude that hit me harder than expected, and what these experiences revealed about belonging, safety, and the kind of life I want to model.
What are you consciously modelling in your life right now? Because the small things matter more than we think and sometimes the biggest lessons come from the people watching us most closely.

In this episode, I’m talking about one simple phrase that has completely shifted the way I think about generosity, boundaries, and leadership in business: commit to the committed.
As women in business, we are often generous by nature. We want to help, support, encourage, and open doors for others. But when that generosity isn’t paired with clear boundaries, it can leave us exhausted and overextended. In this video, I share why protecting your energy is not selfish; it’s essential for sustainable business growth.
I also take a look at how commitment changes results, why boundaries create better outcomes, and how to recognise the people who are truly ready to do the work. If you’re building a business and want to stop chasing, over-giving, or carrying people who aren’t meeting you halfway, I hope this episode helps you.

Stability is underrated. And if your income relies on one offer (or one good month), it’s no wonder your business can feel fragile.
In this episode, I’m breaking down how I’ve built multiple streams of income to create a stable business model. We’ll talk about why relying on a single offer is risky, how I structure my core offers, and what I recommend if you want to create multiple income streams without ending up with constant overwhelm.
I also share how I think about multiple streams of income beyond the business, including building wealth through property, shares, and ETFs, and why I never wanted my personal financial security tied only to my ability to show up and work. If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t have spare cash to invest,” I cover the exact mindset and system shift that helped me: Profit First, separating accounts for operating expenses, tax, and profit, and why starting small can be the beginning of real financial stability.
You’ll leave with practical next steps to build a more stable business income, create a buffer, and start designing a business that supports your life — calm, confident, and sustainable.

I didn’t think I could learn leadership lessons in business from Taylor Swift…how wrong I was. I went to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour as a mum (and a proud Swiftie) with my 12-year-old daughter, expecting glitter, sing-alongs, and a fun night out. What I didn’t expect was to walk out thinking: Oh. That’s what leadership looks like at scale.
In this episode, I share the leadership lessons in business I took from the Eras Tour and the documentary that followed. We’re talking about protecting your energy like it’s an asset, leading as a guide (not the loudest voice in the room), and why kindness isn’t weakness when it’s paired with strategy. I also unpack what it really means to curate your community and scale without losing the thing that makes people trust you in the first place.
If you’re building a business and you’ve been feeling stretched, overbooked, or like you’re carrying too much alone, this one will land. These are practical leadership shifts you can make this week, without overhauling your whole life.

Referrals have been the secret ingredient in my business for years, and they're one of the easiest ways to get new clients. If you've ever wondered how some businesses always seem to have a steady stream of new clients whilst others are left scrambling, it's rarely about having the flashiest website or biggest ad spend—the real magic happens through word-of-mouth. According to Nielsen, 92% of consumers trust recommendations from friends and family more than any other advertising method.
In this episode, I share how I keep referrals flowing year after year by building real relationships rather than just collecting business cards. You'll discover why consistency is everything when it comes to being referable, the importance of going the extra mile with handwritten thank-you notes and follow-up calls, and why you shouldn't be shy about actually asking for referrals when you've done great work.
I break down my complete 8-step referrals strategy that I've refined over the years, covering everything from identifying your key referrers and setting up tracking systems to creating personalised touchpoint plans and building a community of advocates. This isn't about hoping referrals happen by accident—it's about creating an intentional, systematic approach to nurturing the relationships that will make your business flourish!

Business is unpredictable by nature, but what happens at home can either steady you or slowly drain you. I had a moment at a dinner table recently where I realised something that’s become true for me: when my relationship is solid, I can handle whatever my business throws at me, because stability at home is an anchor.
We talk about why women who thrive in business often have one of two things: real support at home, or the ability to block out tension. And blocking out tension isn’t free, it costs energy, focus, and confidence. I share a client example of a high-earning business that was still being treated like a “hobby” at home, and how everything shifted once expectations, boundaries, and the business's role in the family were made clear.
Domestic imbalance is still a thing, and it’s exhausting. The mental load, the school admin, the appointments, the birthdays, the groceries, the logistics, the caring for everyone, while also being expected to contribute financially like a CEO. Equality doesn’t happen by hoping, and why the uncomfortable conversations at home are often the ones that unlock more capacity in business.
You’ll also get practical ways to start rebalancing without burning your life down: clarify what your business contributes, make the invisible mental load visible, renegotiate one area at a time, and let other people own tasks without micromanaging the process.
I also mention a tool that can help couples divide responsibilities more fairly: Fair Play Cards. Because you shouldn’t have to choose between business success and a home life that works.

Obligation doesn’t usually kick the door down; it slips in quietly and starts rearranging your life. This episode unpacks how tiny social rules and unspoken expectations can slowly take over your calendar, your energy, and the way you run your business, without you even noticing.
You’ll hear my “polite ghosting” story and why leaving a party doesn’t need to be a full production just because other people want one more drink, one more story, one more moment. It’s not about being rude; it’s about protecting your rhythm and refusing to negotiate your peace for someone else’s comfort.
We talk about resentment as useful data, not a personality flaw. If you’ve been feeling snappy, heavy, or secretly dreading things you “should” be fine with, this is a sign your boundaries are being crossed. You’ll learn how to do an obligation audit, spot what you defaulted into, and start making cleaner choices without over-explaining yourself.
Obligation in business is expensive, from underpricing to scope creep to unpaid “quick questions” that drain your creativity. Expect pushback when you stop being convenient, but remember this: you’re not here to be endlessly available, you’re here to live true to your energy and your life’s work. If this hits a nerve, this is exactly the work we do inside Revenue Raiser (doors open until February 25th).

Expectations are sneaky. They sit in the background of your life and business, shaping how you measure progress, success, and even your own worth. When reality doesn’t match the picture in your head, it can turn a good season into disappointment, even when things are objectively going well.
This episode explores the expectations we inherit and the ones we quietly create for ourselves, from how we imagine life will look to how we think business “should” feel. It covers how unchecked expectations can make wins feel like failures, and why it’s so common to feel behind when you’re actually moving forward.
You’ll also hear practical ways to manage expectations without lowering your standards, including naming them, checking whether they fit your current season, and making success scalable with a good, better, best approach. The goal isn’t to stop having expectations, it’s to update them so they support your reality instead of adding pressure.

Fear of public speaking can hold you back in business, even when you know your work is solid. This episode shares practical tools to build confidence in speaking so you can communicate clearly on client calls, in meetings, on video, or on stage.
It covers how clarity creates confidence, how to choose one core message as your anchor, and why courage matters more than perfection when you’re finding your voice. You’ll also get simple ways to practise your message, reduce overthinking, and build stronger communication skills through repetition and a supportive community.
If you had one minute to speak to the world, what would you say?
That’s your starting point. Find the core message. Say it out loud. Repeat it until it feels like yours. Use it everywhere. Client calls. Sales conversations. Social captions. Videos. Team meetings.
Your voice has memory. The more you practise, the less you perform.
And that’s the goal. Not to become a different person. Just to become more of yourself, out loud.
Because your voice deserves to be heard and your business needs you to lead with it.

If you’re feeling stuck in your business, it’s probably not because you lack talent or brains. It’s those sneaky little excuses that quietly take the wheel and steer you off course.
Sometimes you’re avoiding the hard things and expecting results.
It’s not about lacking intelligence or drive it’s the small excuses, burnout, and comfort zones that quietly hold us back.
I’ll break down why businesswomen stay stuck by looking at the boring, repetitive actions that actually move the needle, like consistent follow-ups, tracking numbers, and sticking to your message, even when it feels tedious. You’ll hear why running your business on empty isn’t a badge of honour, and why your health is a non-negotiable foundation for long-term success. I talk about the importance of getting out of your bubble after COVID, and why real growth happens when you show up in person and connect with others.
If you’re tired of feeling stuck, dodging the boring work, or letting the wrong people influence your headspace, this is your call to get honest and make a change. Tough love, real talk, and practical tips to help you stop wondering why businesswomen stay stuck and start thriving. The truth is, you already have what it takes, now it’s time to get out of your own way and put it to work.

You know that month where you’ve delivered the work, the invoices are out, the client is thrilled and suddenly… silence? You check your bank account. It’s not panic. But it’s close. That, my friend, is the feast and famine cycle and it’s exhausting, financially and mentally.
In this episode, we’re talking recurring revenue in a real-life way, not a “make money while you sleep” way, because predictable income is what takes you out of survival mode and puts you back in the driver’s seat.
We’ll break down what recurring revenue actually is, why it changes how you lead and why it gives you more headspace than you expect. I’ll share what shifted for me when I moved from one-off work into a membership model, plus a client example that shows how recurring revenue can be built with way less chaos than constant launching.
We’ll also talk about the part people skip: you can’t just make something “monthly” and hope it works. Recurring revenue comes from ongoing value, clear deliverables and a rhythm that supports both you and your clients. And if you want to scale it, we’ll touch on why selling to organisations can be a game changer, and how recurring revenue lets you plan, invest and lead like a CEO instead of patching holes every month.

Today we're chatting about a chapter in our lives that often gets swept under the rug, despite its monumental impact. We don't hear enough about perimenopause and business, even though so many of us are navigating both simultaneously. I'm sharing my personal story, starting with my mum's misdiagnosis at 37, then my own perimenopause diagnosis at the same age after multiple miscarriages. Now at 48, I've spent 11 years in this perimenopausal whirlwind, experiencing hot sweats, mood swings and everything in between.
Perimenopause is like riding an unpredictable wave that hits how we live and work. Hormones upend our routines, but business insists on plugging along. I'll walk you through how perimenopause and business collide, why showing up doesn't mean pretending everything's normal and how to craft a new normal that respects where your body and mind are right now. You'll hear why flexibility isn't optional when navigating perimenopause and business and why some days you're firing on all cylinders whilst other days you're just getting through.
I'll also talk about the support we need from our partners who bear the brunt of this rollercoaster alongside us, and why despite all the havoc, we still show up and shine. If you're knee-deep in perimenopause or menopause, remember you're part of a massive tribe of women who've walked this path before you. The conversation around perimenopause and business is growing, and the more we share our experiences, the easier it becomes for the women coming after us.

I love sales. There, I said it. I genuinely, wholeheartedly love it, not just tolerate it because I have to. My love affair with sales started at 11 years old with a plastic table on my driveway, selling cordial and icy poles. That spark never faded, and this year I've embraced it fully, creating structures that teach sales for women in a way that feels authentic and natural, free of that salesy ick. Today I'm sharing my journey and why sales sits at the centre of every successful business.
This year has been massive for us. The BD Sprint, originally intended as a simple challenge, transformed into a powerful programme that broke records and reshaped our approach. Participants saw their networks expanding with new connections, phone calls, meetings and ultimately, sales. The challenge proved that women are eager to learn sales techniques that align with their strengths, and when given the right tools, women kill it at sales. I'll walk you through why so many women struggle with sales, why it's not their fault and how we're flipping the script.
At its core, sales for women is about connecting, building trust, and supporting one another, not pressure. I'll share why traditional sales methods overlook women's natural strengths, how the BD Sprint and 100 No's Challenge celebrate women's unique selling style, and why I'm writing a book to dismantle the myths around sales. Remember this: selling is not about manipulation; it's ultimately about service and connection. And it can be your superpower in business if you let it.

Get that butchers paper ready because it’s time to create your road map for 2026 and get inspired for the year ahead.
Key Takeaways:
Designing your year boils down to clarity, alignment, and action. It’s not about perfection. You don't need a flawless plan; just a roadmap that guides you with intention. If this year has been a challenging one for you, please know that the new one doesn’t have to be the same.
Here's to your most successful, intentional, and fulfilling year yet. Cheers to 2026!

If your closest friends can't clearly explain what you do, you've got a problem. Recently, a friend who knows my work well, said something that stopped me in my tracks: "Emma, I know you're a business coach for women, but I don't know which women you work with." The realisation hit me like a tonne of bricks. How could I expect people to refer me if even those close to me aren't clear on who I truly help? If people can't easily describe what you do and who you do it for, they can't refer you with confidence.
In this episode, I'm sharing why clarity in your business is essential for sparking referrals and opportunities. I take you through a simple experiment to test how clear your message really is. We talk about why simplicity matters more than a polished pitch and how practicing your one-sentence answer can make all the difference. I'll also share why downplaying your work actually makes it harder for people to refer you and the three questions you need to answer to enable your network to champion you.
Clarity isn't just about getting noticed, it's about being memorable and letting others speak for you. If you've been wondering why your network isn't sending referrals your way, this episode will show you exactly how to fix it.

Recently, I was talking to a client, Anna, who perfectly summed up the feeling of being stuck. "I'm too busy working in my business to actually work on it," she sighed.
If that sentiment stops you in your tracks, you’re not alone. It’s an exciting (yet often daunting) realisation that every growing entrepreneur faces: You've outgrown the hustle of the freelancer mindset. You're not just delivering tasks anymore; it's time to evolve into a CEO, ready to focus on sustainable growth without the burnout.
For years, many of us get stuck running on that treadmill. It’s always moving, but never quite building the sustainable, profitable business we dreamt of. It becomes less about working smart and more about having work that never ends.
I want you to understand though, that this stuck feeling isn’t failure. It’s a powerful sign that you are ready to stop doing the work and start leading the work.
In thie episode, I break down the signs to look out for that will help you establish when it’s time to move into a CEO mindset, and why it’s an important part of your business growth.

Recently, my lovely friend Emma said something that stopped me in my tracks. "Everything you do at the moment is turning to gold." Initially, it made me smile, perhaps even left me feeling a bit chuffed with myself. But then I started wondering if this was truly the narrative I was living by.
What if I dared to believe it?
I want to explore how the stories we tell ourselves can change our lives and businesses. A single phrase has the power to alter our emotions, actions, and even what we attract. A simple comment from a friend unlocked more courage, creativity, and productivity in me than I've experienced in years.
So I invite you to ask: What stories are you telling yourself? Are they fostering growth or holding you back?
If, like me, you find yourself in limiting beliefs, I challenge you to declare, just for a week, that everything you touch turns to gold. Notice the shifts in how you approach meetings, proposals, and client interactions. Sometimes, when you decide to believe in something so positively bold, reality has a way of catching up.
For more practical tips on reframing your business narrative, check out Chris Helder’s bestseller "Useful Belief." And remember, the moment you change your self-belief, everything else in your life begins to shift.

Cash flow pressure. Every business owner faces it, whether you've been in the game for three months or three years. That familiar tightening in your chest when a client delays payment, or the sinking feeling when you glance at next month's calendar and notice it's looking sparse. We've all been there.
Whilst it might feel like the end of the world, it's actually an opportunity in disguise. With a strategic approach, cash flow pressure can become a powerful catalyst for growth. In this episode, I talk through three practical steps you can take to turn that stress into progress.
In business, cash flow pressure will ebb and flow. But your response will set you apart. By staying calm, focused, and connected, your business remains strong through turbulent times.
Sales isn't about being pushy. It's about being proactive.

I've had a shocker of a week. Yep, the kind where it feels like the universe truly has it in for me. It started with saying goodbye to my beloved 16-year-old Maltese, Spencer, and then things just kept piling on. Turns out, bad things really do come in threes sometimes.
In this episode, I share what happened during one of the toughest weeks I've had in a long time and the surprising lessons I learnt about showing up when life gets hard. You'll discover why I chose to host 75 women at our biggest Go-Getters Day ever instead of cancelling, and what that decision taught me about resilience, adaptability and knowing when to push through versus when to pause.
If you're in a season that feels overwhelming, this episode is a reminder that you're not alone. It’s also a reminder that being human first is always the priority (yes, even over being a business owner!). Sometimes showing up is enough, and sometimes giving yourself permission to let go and cry is exactly what you need.

Are you in the right room? Not the warm, familiar one where everyone knows your name, but the room that makes you squirm because everyone else seems miles ahead of you. When I first started my business, I was earning exactly zero dollars, yet there I was stepping into a business school surrounded by people making hundreds of thousands, even millions. Did I feel out of my depth? Absolutely. Were there tears? Yes, quite a few. But that intimidating room changed me completely.
In this episode, I share what I've learnt about the true value of being the small fish in a big pond and why comfort is actually the enemy of growth. You'll discover why if you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room, and how bigger rooms spark bigger ideas. I explore the sweet spot of discomfort where real growth happens and why that queasy feeling when you enter a room is exactly where you need to be.
I give you a practical three-step action plan to audit your current rooms, choose stretch over comfort, and find environments that challenge you in the next 90 days. Growth never happens when you're the big fish, so it's time to choose environments that stretch you and illuminate new possibilities. Being the small fish in a big pond just might be where your next breakthrough begins.

Working with family isn't for everyone, but it's been one of the best decisions I've made for my business (and my personal life). I recently jumped on a call with my sister, Serena, to chat about what it’s like behind the scenes at Emma McQueen Ptd Ltd —the perks, the challenges and the crazy in between.
Initially, Serena was hesitant to join me. She worried that working together might mess with our personal relationship, especially if things got rocky professionally. Fair concern, really. But once she stepped in, she never looked back—and neither would I want her to. She’s the yin to my yang.
For anyone considering working with family, traditional performance metrics and rigid boundaries might not apply—and that's perfectly fine. As long as you communicate effectively and understand each other's strengths and areas for improvement, you can create something that works for both professional success and personal satisfaction.
I'm incredibly grateful to have Serena by my side, not just as my sister but as a valued and irreplaceable team member. This dynamic isn't for everyone, but for us, it works like a dream.
Have you worked with family? What's your experience been like? Whether you're considering it or already doing it, I'd love to hear your stories—they might just help someone else navigate their own family business journey.

Hands up if you have time in your diary to do business development. If you do, excellent! But everyone I speak to does not. It always drops to the bottom of the priority list, and here's what I've noticed: people think they're doing business development when they're writing content—they're not. You're creating content, posting regularly, but the sales aren't following. The good news? There's a way to cut through the noise and get straight to what actually works.
It's called the Business Development Sprint, and let me tell you, it works. We've run it live several times with participants collectively making over $530,000 in just 10 days—in a market where people are saying "it's hard to sell"! In this episode, I'm walking you through the crucial first two days that can change everything. You'll discover why marketing isn't sales, how to carve out that crucial hour daily for actual relationship building, and the simple paper-and-pen exercise that maps your client journey from cold to sold.
I share my exact nurturing sequence and why your client journey needs 10-13 touchpoints before clients buy from you. We're not talking automation here—we're talking systematising in a way that keeps interactions human and thoughtful. These first two days are about shifting how you think about sales and creating a foundation for real growth that aligns with who you are.

Our recent trip to New York was a meticulously planned gritty, beautiful and amazing whirlwind. My daughter Evie had her heart set on one particular treasure: a Jellycat unicorn from FAO Schwarz. If you have an 11 year old, you'll understand the obsession with these adorable, fluffy toys.
So we get to FAO Schwarz and it was packed. No unicorn in sight. Evie was disappointed and she settled for an avocado Jellycat instead. But let’s face it, she really wanted that unicorn.
24 hours later, two girls walked past holding the exact unicorn Evie wanted. Her eyes lit up. Her dream was still alive!
We all get disappointed in business don’t we? It's not what we do with that disappointment, it's how we bounce back.
In sales, you don't always get to the yes straight away. Sometimes you get silence, sometimes you get a hard no. But with curiosity, with better questions, with persistence, with follow-up, things can shift. Sometimes really really quickly.
So if you're lacking a few unicorns lately—whether in sales or broader business objectives—maybe it’s time to regroup. Gather your team, get curious and keep your sights set on that goal. You never know what can happen in 24 hours.
What's your unicorn? And more importantly, what's your plan to get it?

One of my clients was staring at a blank sales sheet on 20th July with zero sales for the month. Eleven days later, she had $14,000 in the bank. This isn't some magical funnel story or complicated sales system—it's what happens when you stop overthinking and start doing the work. In this episode, I share the exact step-by-step process we used to turn 40 cold Facebook leads into real revenue.
You'll hear about our small group coaching approach within the Thriving Women community that's been delivering incredible results—over 30% of our members had their best months and years in July, with one client billing $82,000 and another tripling her revenue month-on-month. I break down the five-step strategy we implemented to get these amazing results.
The real transformation wasn't just the $14,000 in sales—it was watching this remarkable mum go from dreading sales calls to actually enjoying them. This episode proves that sales isn't about complex funnels or overwhelming strategies; it's about genuine human connections, clarity and consistent action. If you're sitting on cold leads or feeling stuck with your sales, this is your roadmap to stop overthinking and start converting.

Here's my dirty little secret: after five years of podcasting, I still get sweaty palms before hitting record. Every. Single. Time. In this episode, I'm joined by Brianna Ansaldo from Bamby Media, who has been gently pushing me toward sharing more of myself and my personal stories—away from the safe harbour of interviewing guests and into the terrifying waters of actually talking about me, my life and my mistakes.
You'll discover why those supposedly "inappropriate" or "unprofessional" parts of our stories are actually gold, creating those "oh my god, me too" moments that build real connection. We discuss the crucial difference between sharing your story and trauma-dumping on the internet, emphasising the importance of sharing from a healed place rather than the raw, bleeding edge of whatever you're going through right now.
I share what happened when I started getting more human in my content and why vulnerability enhanced rather than hurt my credibility. In a world where AI can generate decent business advice in seconds, your messy, beautifully human stories are your competitive advantage that no algorithm can replicate.

When you think of someone disciplined, you might imagine someone who's up at the crack of dawn, who never hits snooze and has a spotless track record of getting everything done.
Spoiler alert: that's not me.
I have my fair share of skipped workouts and unread emails. But somehow, I manage to get the big, important things done.
I've built a business and a life that I love, not because I have perfect discipline - not at all - but because I’ve figured out what’s important to me.
Discipline Where It Counts
I have discipline as one of my top strengths, but only when it counts the most. It's about getting a grasp on the things that are critical to me. For example, in my earlier years, I managed to buy four houses before the age of 30 while juggling a full-time HR role, running a side hustle and studying at university. Impressive? Perhaps. But not everything demanded the same level of discipline. My university work? Let's just say I did just enough to get by and that's perfectly fine because I'm more street smart than book smart.
When Discipline Becomes a Curse
Being disciplined also has a down side. Around 18 months ago, I pledged to walk 20,000 steps each day. At first, I thought it would be easy, but it soon became a borderline obsession. Missing a step count isn’t an option for me. While some might call it dedication, this level of discipline can also feel like a curse because I'm unable to let myself off the hook - ever. The decision-making strain disappears when discipline kicks in, but the inflexibility can sometimes be stifling.
What Are Your Big Rocks?
The million-dollar question is: What are your big rocks? What are the big things that matter to you and are you putting the discipline, the effort and the structure in place in those areas?
For some, it’s revenue. For others it’s visibility. Everyone's path to discipline and success is different so it’s about finding what resonates with you and being disciplined with the things that truly matter.

I have a secret: I've never felt smart. Despite how things might look from the outside, I wasn't academically bright growing up and school definitely wasn't my friend. My parents' divorce derailed my grades, I repeated year 10 and my grandfather's well-meaning attempts to pay me for A's didn’t result in a lot of money for me!
But you know what? There are other kinds of smarts, and I’ve got them in spades! Today, I’m sharing the story that shaped who I am today and how I’ve come to understand what "being smart" truly means. We’re talking about the tension between being street smart versus book smart, and why our education system doesn't always recognise or reward different types of intelligence.
I share how I've learnt to lean into my strengths—business smarts, relationship building and an entrepreneurial spirit—rather than dwelling on traditional academic measures. If you've ever felt inadequate because you don't fit the conventional definition of intelligence, this episode will help you reconsider that narrative and recognise that your unique version of smart is absolutely worth celebrating.

When I was 18 years old, I found myself living with my sister and her brand-new husband—not awkward at all, right? Up until that point, my living situation was a patchwork of arrangements. From couch-surfing with friends to renting short-term with my mum, stability seemed pretty elusive. So, when my sister graciously opened her doors, I moved in—a decision driven partly by need and partly by the hope of finding some semblance of security.
Today, I’m sharing how my sister encouraged me to enter the property market at the ripe old age of 18, and how my unconventional partnership with my Pop made my first home possible. This early start led to owning four properties by age 30 – but this isn't a story of glamour or effortless success. I reveal the genuine sacrifices behind the portfolio, from instant noodle dinners to social isolation.
I discuss how marriage and pregnancy transformed my perspective on what financial security truly means, and why selling properties to focus on one family home felt like progress rather than retreat.
This episode offers insights into getting clarity about what security means for you personally, making bold financial decisions and knowing when simplification is the right move. Whether you're just starting your financial journey or reassessing your current path, you'll discover practical approaches to defining and achieving your own version of security.
Join me as I explore how financial priorities evolve through different life stages, and why your unique financial story is always within your power to reshape.

A lot of people tell me I’m optimistic - and I genuinely am! But not because I’ve had a charmed life. My glass half full perspective was formed out of necessity because as a child, I had no other choice but to just survive.
When you hear this story, you might wonder why I’m optimistic at all!
At 14 years old, my life changed dramatically. My parents divorced and a few years later, they both got remarried within a week of each other. One week I was going to my dad's wedding with a lady and her two daughters. The next week I was going to my mum’s wedding with her husband and their three children.
A little while later, I found myself homeless. Neither of my parents seemed to want me around and so I was forced to learn very quickly what it means to stand on your own two feet.
That's why I'm so passionate about helping other women break free from survival mode. Because while I learned to be resilient, my real mission isn't about teaching women to survive harder - it's about helping them build lives where they never have to white-knuckle their way through each day.
Your past is part of your story, but it doesn't have to be your whole story. No matter what your circumstances are, you get to choose what happens next. That's not just optimism talking - that's personal experience.

We've all experienced the live launch rollercoaster – where carefully planned schedules dissolve into late-night strategy sessions and compulsive stat-checking. For many entrepreneurs, this intense cycle of stress and exhaustion isn't sustainable.
Enter Kate McKibbin, founder of Hello Funnels and host of the "Doing It Online" podcast. Starting as a fashion blogger in 2007, Kate has evolved into a funnel specialist who helps businesses transition from chaotic live launches to systematic evergreen approaches. Her journey from MySpace-era blogging to automated business success offers some juicy insights for entrepreneurs looking for a more sustainable path.
In our conversation, we talk about live launches vs the evergreen model. While live launches can create exciting sales surges, evergreen strategies offer a more controlled, consistent approach to income generation. Though not a 'set and forget' system, evergreen funnels can provide the stability and freedom many entrepreneurs crave, without the repeated emotional and energy drain of live launches.
For those of us caught up in the hustle and flow of online entrepreneurship, it's easy to get swept away by shiny offers and the latest buzzwords. However, Kate encourages authentic reflection on what works for us, individually and business-wise. She also shares her wisdom on achieving consistency, stability and ultimately, freedom – the ‘f-word’ we entrepreneurs got started in the first place for!
Key Takeaways:
• Live launches can create unsustainable cycles of stress and burnout
• Evergreen funnels offer a more controlled, consistent income approach
• Success requires matching your launch strategy to your personal style and business needs
• Automation isn't about eliminating effort, but reallocating it strategically
• The goal is creating a business that works for you, not the other way around

There was a time in my life when I thought riding a motorbike would be a really great idea. You could call it an early midlife crisis. I had visions of myself as this leather-clad, high-heeled wonder woman, cruising through the city with perfectly windswept hair. I’d have a whole new biker wardrobe - It was going to be amazing.
After spending a small fortune on the bike, the leather pants (I loved them), the helmet, the jacket and all the gear, I thought it might be a good idea to get some lessons.
Only a few months later, I woke up and the truth hit me harder than a bug on my helmet: I didn't actually like being a motorbike rider. So, I sold the bike and all my gear to someone else who would enjoy it.
I could have made that mean something, like I was a failure for sinking a lot of money into this silly hobby that everyone told me not to do. I could have been embarrassed that I’d quit riding after just a few short months.
And was I? Not at all!
Why? Because it's okay to admit when something isn't working. It's okay to try something and change your mind. It's okay to say, "Well, that was a terrible decision" and move on.
It’s no big deal. What IS a big deal, is the meaning you give things.

I was 30 and didn't have a husband. For someone who spent her teenage years dreaming about wedding dresses (the pink poofy ones were my favourite) and flipping through bridal magazines, this wasn't exactly part of the plan.
My plan was to get married, have a big wedding with all the pink frills, buy a house and have heaps of kids and dogs. So you can imagine my great disappointment when I woke up at 30 and didn’t have any of those things!
So on my 30th birthday, I knew it was time to find myself a husband. While my 20s had been filled with passport stamps and career wins, what I wanted now was really clear - I was ready to find my person. Not because society said I should, not because I was running out of time, but because I knew in my bones this was what I wanted. This wasn't about ticking a box or following a timeline. This was about being honest with myself about what I truly desired - a husband, a family, and yes, two dogs (though for some reason, I thought those had to come after the husband). So after throwing myself a birthday party and getting a tattoo - why not, right? - I decided to get serious about finding love with the same focus I'd brought to building my career.
I knew what I wanted, I had a strategy and I was going to find him.
This episode is quite vulnerable and I’ll admit, it feels a bit strange sharing on such a personal level. But the truth is, whether you're building a business, finding love, or creating your dream life, the principle remains the same: Clarity combined with consistent, inspired action is unstoppable. You don't need to see the entire path - you just need to know your next right move and be brave enough to take it.

In today's episode, we're getting real about something that’s very close to my heart - that moment when running your business starts feeling less like an adventure and more like a never-ending to-do list of doom. Sound familiar?
Running a business should feel exhilarating (and it can!). But somewhere along the way, we bought into this crazy idea that success means hustling 24/7, surviving on coffee and prayers and wearing burnout like a badge of honour.
The thing is, success isn't about doing more. It's about doing what really, really matters. Today, I’m taking you through 3 power moves you can take to optimise your business and make the most of this one, gorgeous life:
1. Focus on Revenue-Generating Activities
2. Delegate, Automate or Delete
3. Create Boundaries Like the Queen You Are
Your Power Move Challenge:
Pick ONE of these moves and make it happen this week. Write it down and share your success stories with me—I’d love to cheer you on. Remember, keep optimising, keep thriving and keep wearing that beautiful crown of yours. You've got this!

Money talk: it triggers people and stirs up conversations. That’s because it really is important—it offers choices and freedom, letting us create lives and businesses that align with our individual paths. However, have you noticed the often toxic rhetoric around it, especially from some so-called gurus claiming that if you’re not a millionaire, you’re not working hard enough? Or if you just do this ‘one thing’, you’ll make six figures overnight?
Before you know it, you're questioning your own achievements and feeling as if you’ve somehow fallen behind. Can we pause right there? Today, I want to break down what it means to truly talk about money in a way that's impactful, genuine and free from shame:
1. Transparency Over Hype: instead of talking about the money goals we achieved, let’s start discussing how we got there, whether through consistent growth, stellar projects, or trial and error.
2. Meeting People Where They Are: Decide what success looks like for you, rather than hinging it on hitting specific income numbers.
3. Focusing on Sustainable Success: Start by setting realistic, clear goals that stretch across short, medium and long-term timelines, rather than focusing on generating quick cash.
Here’s a challenge for you: reframe your money mindset by asking yourself some honest questions: Are you measuring success against someone else’s wealth? Do you feel undue pressure to hit certain financial milestones? Are your financial discussions empowering, or do they leave you feeling less than?
If today’s topic resonated with you, I’d love to hear from you. Drop me a DM on Instagram at @emmarmcqueen and share your money mindset shift. Let’s continue this dialogue in a way that feels good, safe, challenging and sustainable.

Are you setting yourself up for retirement?
Do you even want to retire?
In just two years, I'll be 50, the age I always imagined I'd retire. Eight years ago, when I started my business, my goal was to pay off the mortgage and retire. When I first mentioned my retirement plans to my husband, he chuckled and said, "I cannot imagine you not working."
And honestly, I couldn't either!
The idea of retirement used to be synonymous with rest, relaxation, and a reward for years of hard work. But as I contemplate stepping back, I realise that the traditional notion of retirement has evolved so much since my grandparents, or even my parents generation.
A few generations ago, retirement was a clearly defined phase. My parents’ and grandparents’ retirements were linear, moving seamlessly from career to comfortable leisure. But, nowadays, is it even a thing to fully retire? The world looks different now. People stay healthier longer, careers are more fulfilling, and the drive to contribute doesn't simply stop at an arbitrary age.
The dynamic has shifted; with many of us living longer, we have to rethink how we spend this extended period of life. Back when I was in corporate, I managed my finances with an iron grip, always thinking ahead. But starting my own business put finances—and retirement—into a new perspective. My accountant once doubted my initial business ambitions, but reaching financial milestones faster than expected taught me to challenge the status quo and dream bigger.

As we juggle businesses, family, and the relentless demands of everyday life, it's extraordinarily easy to overlook our well-being. This is why I was thrilled to sit down with Susan Hunter, who has helped me completely overhaul my health over the last couple of years.
Susan is an expert naturopath with a wealth of knowledge on health optimisation and longevity. I initally came to her a bit of a mess. I was exhausted all the time, feeling sluggish and life just felt hard. It was through working with her, that I really started to understand how my body works and what I needed to operate at my peak.
An important element to health optimisiation is not to attempt fixing everything all at once. Susan advised this is a recipe for disaster and you’ll be left feeling like you’ve achieved nothing. Instead, get the necessary medical investigations, develop a strategic plan, and set yourself up for success with professional guidance.
If you're exhausted or feeling stuck, know that change is possible and help is available. Consider booking a clarity call with Susan—it's a small step that could lead to profound improvements.

Running a business, managing life, and keeping all those balls in the air—let's be honest, it can be incredibly demanding. There are days when I feel like a circus juggler, desperately trying to keep everything from crashing down.
Sometimes, the only thing standing between me and utter burnout is indulging in a few guilty pleasures. In this episode, I'm letting you in on the little indulgences that help me unwind and maintain my sanity.
In the hustle of achievements and deadlines, these simple pleasures keep my feet on the ground. They are more than mere distractions; they are strategic pauses in a fast-paced life. My clients, some reaching impressive high six-figure revenues, realise the importance of these moments too. Joy in small things significantly impacts our productivity and wellbeing.
I’ll invite you to think about this for yourself. What are your guilty pleasures? What brings you happiness, helps you relax, reset, and come back stronger? Remember, there’s no shame in taking time for yourself. It makes us better business people, better partners, and overall, better humans.

Ever stared at your screen, heart sinking, because your latest social media post flopped? Or maybe business has been slow, and that little voice inside is starting to whisper,
'You're just not cut out for this.'
I’ve been there many times as an entrepreneur and I’ve learned how to bring myself, and my clients out of these negative thought loops.
As entrepreneurs, we pour our hearts into our businesses. When things don't go as planned—clients backing out, low engagement, tough feedback—it's easy to slip into a loop of negative thoughts. Often, we focus on one piece of negative feedback, ignoring the twenty positive ones. Once we fall into that loop, it becomes incredibly challenging to climb out. But it's important to remember that negative thoughts aren't inherently bad. They serve a purpose by alerting us to areas that need attention and inspiring us to improve.
When you catch yourself spiralling, consider which of these strategies might work for you. Whether it's pausing to name your thoughts, reframing negative narratives, taking action, leaning on your community, or celebrating your wins, remember that change begins with commitment. And if you've already found effective ways to shift your mindset, I'd love to hear about them. Share your thoughts, and let's keep the conversation going.

Running a successful business isn't just about dreaming big or making bold moves. It's about nailing the non-negotiables—the habits, boundaries, and principles that keep you focused, profitable, and thriving.
Without these foundational anchors, it's way too easy to get lost in the chaos of business and lose sight of what really matters.
Let me ask you this: What are the non-negotiables that make a difference in your business?
At Emma McQueen Pty Ltd, we have three core values which everything in the business stems from: Generosity, Kindness and Results. Based on these values, I’ve developed some practical, actionable ways to implement my non-negotiables and I’m so happy to share them with you as well.
1. Focus on Customer Service
2. Money Management Tools
I cannot emphasise enough the importance of managing your finances effectively. It’s vital to separate your business and personal finances.
It's equally important to manage your finances with appropriate tools, such as Xero or QuickBooks rather than a simple spreadsheets. You’re running a business, not a hobby!
3. Effective Follow-Up System
The fortune is in the follow-up so make sure you have a structured follow-up system in place. The “3-2-1 Rule” I follow—engaging with three people, nurturing two leads, and closing one deal each week—fits seamlessly into my business development routine.
Additionally, tracking leads and conversions through a CRM or even a simple spreadsheet can provide a goldmine of data, helping to strengthen your client relationships and improve conversion rates.
What non-negotiables have you established in your business and which areas do you think you need to elevate? I’d love to hear from you.

Are you wondering how to do business development on LinkedIn? I know so many people out there are keen to use LinkedIn to help their business grow, but are at a loss as to where to start.
When I started my LinkedIn growth journey several years ago, I had roughly 200 connections. Fast forward seven years, and I've grown that to nearly 16,000. It means that the content I now put out reaches a considerably broader audience.
So, why should you even bother with LinkedIn? For me, it's another crucial touchpoint in our digital presence, complementing our social media and email list efforts.
My LinkedIn strategy is straightforward because, let’s face it, aren't we all a bit time-strapped? So, today I’m sharing my plan and taking you through the practical, actionable steps that you can easily weave into your daily routine:
Feel free to experiment and let your profile reflect who you truly are. LinkedIn doesn't have to be daunting; it can be exhilarating. Let me know how you fare with these strategies. I can't wait to see your results!

Over 2024 I received a lot of comments and questions about the fitness journey I was undertaking.
Having fallen sick the year prior, I was committed to regaining my health and energy, and while I’m not 100% where I want to be, the improvement over these twelve months has been bigger than I could have hoped.
Which is why I want to share my journey with you today!
My First Steps: My journey began with a simple yet powerful commitment: 20,000 steps a day. I know it sounds daunting, but I used habit-stacking to incorporate it into my regular routine. I set out my activewear each night and then would start my day at 5AM. I woke up by going on a walk with a husband and then took my dog on one too! By 6.40AM, before most people are even awake, I’d already achieved 13,000 steps of my goal.
A New Diet: While walking did wonders for me, it’s not enough on its own. 80% of weight loss success comes from nutrition, which is why I joined Weight Loss Coaching Works, a program focusing on real food, accountability, and community support. With their help, I was able to lose double my original goal (17 kilos over 26 weeks) without resorting to drastic measures or drinking my meals.
Throughout this whole journey, my discipline has been my strongest weapon. I've continuously learnt that if you set your mind to it, even the hardest challenges can be overcome.
Now it’s your turn!
What are you willing to commit to for yourself? What possibilities could your fitness journey unlock? And how far will you go to build the life you deserve?

Post-holiday blues are a thing.
At this time of year, many business owners dream of closing up shop, quitting their business and moving on to something else.
If you've found yourself on job boards or LinkedIn, searching for an easier path, you're not alone. Business is tough, it can be relentless, and sometimes it feels like we're just not cut out for it.
But before you throw in the towel, there are three questions I want you to ask yourself:
#1: What are the main reasons driving my desire to quit?
What's driving your desire to quit? Are these feelings arising from something temporary, like post-holiday blues, or is there a deeper issue within your business? It could be staff or system challenges, external pressures, or even internal expectations. Sometimes quitting seems more simple than facing the problem head on.
#2: Have I exhausted all options to resolve the current challenge?
Have you sought support, looked for resources, or experimented with changes that could improve the situation? Sometimes, the answer lies in unexplored options or collaborations with new people.
#3: What are the long term implications of quitting for me personally and professionally?
Quitting might bring relief but it could also close doors to valuable lessons and growth opportunities. Picture your life post-business – does it make you feel elated? Or does it sadden you? You need to consider how quitting may impact your career trajectory, financial stability, and, importantly, your emotional well-being.
Bringing Back the Joy
I think that bringing joy back in as a self care option may make a significant difference to your outlook, to your mindset, and to your business. Life is too short to be working in a job or business that you don’t love. But before you move onto the next thing, I really encourage you to take some time pondering these questions. Figure out what lights you up and what doesn’t, regardless of your decision.

Many of us start feeling the pressure of wrapping up the year with a bang. But what if instead of grinding through the final stretch, we opted to glide with ease and joy?
My dear friend and coaching client, Tracey Mylecharane, comes from a corporate background like I do – and we know all too well about the end-of-year grind. Last year, we were determined to throw the hustle mindset away - and even recorded a podcast episode on it.

Have you ever felt like you're trying to juggle too many balls at once, both in your business and at home? I have been there, and done that a million times over. The key is to work smarter, not harder which I’m sure you’ve heard every business coach say so many times that you’re sick to death of hearing it.
But it is true.
I’ve found the key to working smarter is outsourcing. It's about figuring out where you need more support in your business and at home, so you can keep to your zone of genius and move forward.
So where do you begin?
In this episode, I’ll share with you an exercise that I do to establish where I need more support, and how to find the people I need.

What is my planning process for a new year?
It’s a question I get asked so often in the weeks leading up to New Years, and today I want to share my personal method with you.
The first step is to dive deep into the data and then ask myself: has this service or offering given me joy, or has it stolen my joy?
Any service that robs me of joy is is one I should probably get rid of. After all, if I don’t adore what I’m doing, how can I provide the best experience for my clients?
The next step is to dive into my finances with a critical eye, so I can work out if I need to tweak my marketing or leverage our mailing list more effectively.
The third stage involves a series of questions linked to joy, energy, and time. It's about deciding what to continue, discard, or initiate.
So, grab a moment to review your progress over the year. Shed what doesn’t serve you and embrace collaborations, new ideas, and growth.

School holidays are the bane of a business owner’s existence.
It took me a number of years to find a rhythm that works for me so if you’re in the early years of running your business, you’re probably wondering how on earth this all works!
How do you run a business while the kids are at home bouncing off the walls and manage it all without going crazy?
Like I said, it took me a few years to find the right balance but after some experimenting, my family has landed in a rhythm that works for us.
When I first started my business, my initial vision was to enjoy every school holiday with the family. So every school holidays, I cleared my calendar completely. Although this sounds great in theory, the reality was quite different.
While it worked wonders for my family, it left me feeling exhausted having to work twice as hard after the holidays. Avoiding work entirely during the holidays just wasn't feasible for me so we had to find a different solution.
Now, I clear the first week of every school holiday for quality family time. During this week, I don’t do any work and we lap up the fun.
During the second week, I keep my schedule light, still making time for my daughter but also spending a few hours each day on business tasks. The beauty of running your own business is that it’s possible to take your laptop down to the beach and enjoy the best of both worlds.
Juggling business and family is undeniably challenging, but with thoughtful planning and a flexible mindset, it can be exceptionally rewarding.
What’s your plan for the Christmas holidays?

As a business coach, I'm finding more of my clients grappling with feelings of isolation of social anxiety these days. Which is strange because the internet has made us more connected than ever.
Did you know, for instance, that the average person spends around 42 hours a month on TikTok? And then there's YouTube, with 21 hours, and Facebook, with another 20 hours.
It's mind-boggling how much time we spend being 'social' but the truth is, many of us feel lonelier than ever.
Beyond Blue defines social anxiety as feeling intensely anxious about social interactions or performing in front of others. For many of my clients it manifests physically with excessive sweating, trembling, or nausea. It’s real, and it’s scary but you aren’t alone. Approximately 11% of Australians experience social anxiety during their lifetime, with 7% affected in any given 12-month period.
Now, as business owners, networking and interacting with clients is crucial. It’s part of building success, right? So, in this episode I’m sharing some practical tips on how to navigate social interactions without feeling overwhelmed.

What is first class in your business?
When we’re talking airlines, people often wonder what the real difference is between first class and business class. And why exactly would you pay so much more for business class over economy?
I think it’s important to offer a premium service in business, and I relish in providing exclusive, one-on-one coaching to my clients. However, not everyone wants that all the time. Some people want to spend less time with you, and some people want you to just get the job done for them.
So, I encourage you to think about what you have on offer in your business, and how you can create different service tiers depending on your clients’ needs - just like an airline.
What does your first class, business class and economy class look like? Let’s explore what these tiers could look like so you can ensure you’re covering all bases and providing maximum value to your clients.

How do you feel about sales?
If your gut reaction is one of hesitation or even dread, you’re not alone.
But let me ask you this: Do you love building relationships and connections?
Do you enjoy chatting with people about their passions and ambitions?
I’m guessing the answer is YES and you might be surprised to discover you already possess the fundamentals of sales. We just need to reframe what sales can mean.
For seven years, I dedicated an hour each day to business development and it has consistently paid off.
This turned into the Thriving Woman Gang's brilliant initiative: an hour of power each day for a month. This simple act of consistent effort sparked amazing results, inspiring me to extend the opportunity to a broader audience through our Business Development Sprint challenge!
Our goal was simple: Assemble a community of women to support each other in business development, smashing the myth that sales is scary.
By the end of our initiative, we welcomed 57 women into our free challenge. The results? Astonishing! Let’s dive into the numbers so you can see for yourself how one hour a day of business development pays off.
If you feel a pull towards shaking up your business development strategy, keep an eye out for our next challenge in February 2025. In the meantime, start reaching out, engage with others on LinkedIn and Instagram and remember: sales doesn’t have to be scary! It can be as simple as a conversation.

Silly season is almost here - and for a lot of us, it means taking a break from business. Sure, rest and recovery from a busy year is important - but it’s not without its drawbacks. Hitting pause on your business inevitably comes with a significant dip in revenue.
So how do you prepare for this cycle of lower revenue, whether it’s over Christmas, school holidays or a period where you just need some downtime?
Personally, I’ve discovered a blend of mindset shifts and practical actions that have really helped me reshape my approach to maintaining stability during lower revenue months.
Today, I’m sharing 6 ways that will not only help you stay afloat over the holiday period, but set yourself up for success for the year ahead:
Build a Financial Cushion Throughout the Year
Offer Bite-sized Products
Plan for the Year Ahead
Understand Your True Needs
Streamline Your Expenses
Embrace Late Opportunities
The golden rule is not to surrender just because it’s late in the year. Ensure you continue selling until your curtain drops for the holidays. Watching your energy reserves and managing time effectively is equally critical. After all, the last thing you want is to enter your well-deserved break feeling drained, anxious or unwell.
I'd love to hear how you plan to take on these tips. Have you managed to avoid succumbing to holiday period stress before? Perhaps you've got a strategy that's worked wonders. Let’s keep the conversation going!

Would you like to be more productive?
I’d say I'm pretty productive myself, and while I suspect my 50% is probably everyone else’s 80%, it definitely wasn’t always that way.
There was a time a few years ago in my business when I felt like I was doing all the things, putting all the content out, having the right conversations and yet, nothing was getting me traction.
It sucked. I was not motivated. I felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall and I didn’t have the energy to keep going.
I finally decided to look under the hood and ask myself what was actually going on. I listed all the things that gave me joy and the ones that didn’t. I looked at the things I needed to keep doing and the things I could let go of.
I just couldn’t keep doing the same things and expecting a different result. Today, I’m taking you through how I changed my trajectory, and the secrets that have worked wonders for me in maintaining productivity in my business.
I hope these tools give you that little boost of energy and help you glide – not grind – straight into Christmas!

I’m not a natural learner.
I’ve had to put a lot of effort into building the muscle of learning over the years, but despite the struggle, I know it’s worth it.
You see, most industries require you to do more learning, whether that's reading or writing research papers or attending conferences in your field.
But as entrepreneurs, it’s often a little different. We’re only going to be as good as what we know. You know that old adage: “You only know what you know”.
This means that we can be a bit left behind in our field and fail to innovate if we don't keep up with what's happening in our target market.
So, do you need an extra qualification to do this? Today we’re exploring when to consider investing in more structured learning, and whether you even need to in the first place.
I’m also sharing my top tips on how to best stay ahead of the curve in your market.
Having a few fancy letters next to your name can be impressive - but does it truly matter to you? Whether your answer is yes or no, it’s time to get stuck in and figure out how to keep on developing in the way that suits you and your business best.

Anxiety can pop up when you least expect it.
As an entrepreneur, this can impact your life and business in surprising ways. Even if you don’t suffer from anxiety, generally speaking, business owners worry a lot!
We worry about the future, our cash flow, our revenue, whether we have enough clients... the worry can be relentless.
For those who live with anxiety on top of that, it’s a lot to deal with. But there are ways you can manage so that anxiety doesn’t run your life.
Through coaching my clients and speaking with other business owners, I’ve observed common areas where anxiety tends to creep in:
Social Anxiety
I’ve noticed a significant uptick in social anxiety, especially since COVID-19. Working from home has its perks, but it also makes venturing out feel daunting. To combat this, it’s all about taking small steps.
Financial Anxiety
We worry about cash flow, revenue, and profitability. Seeing businesses around us close can be heartbreaking and stress-inducing. I’ve learned to disengage from doom-scrolling and negative news cycles. Instead, I focus on strategies that help maintain a positive mindset.
Generalised Anxiety
Generalised anxiety can be crippling, especially when compounded with the pressures of running a business. I had a client who woke up every day anxious about her business. So, she threw that business out, started again with a blank sheet of paper, only doing the things that she really wanted to do.
Anxiety is a real and rising issue, particularly among small business owners. If you feel like you need some support to help you manage anxiety, there are some amazing professionals out there. Don’t hesitate to reach out for recommendations.
What are five or six strategies that help you when you’re not feeling great? Write them down, laminate it and keep it close. This simple step can be surprisingly effective.

Running a business is lonely.
If you come from the corporate world, you might be used to a fully staffed office, camaraderie, and the support of a large team.
Then you start your own business and you’re suddenly on your own with a mountain of responsibilities to balance. Even worse your old friends don’t understand what you’re going through so it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and isolated.
It’s a common feeling for entrepreneurial women but I think deep down a lot of us are lone-wolfs at heart, I know I am. For me, it’s because I had to grow up rapidly and relied on myself from a very young age. Whatever causes it, this fierce independence doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
No scratch that. Not only is being a lone wolf okay, it might even be your superpower! How? Listen in to find out!

I never would have called myself gritty. But after looking up the definition of ‘grit’ recently, I now think I can say I have it in spades!
Sometimes it’s only in hindsight that we connect the dots and discover something about ourselves we didn’t know was there.
I experienced this when I read the Oxford Dictionary’s definition of grit: ‘courage and resolve; strength of character’.
As I look back on the significant experiences of my youth, I now appreciate them as my journey to building grit and resilience. It also gives me insight into why I do the work I do, and what led me to being so passionate about it.
So what does being a gritty human look like as we work towards achieving all those goals we have for our business?
Today we’re exploring what it means to be gritty in business; that perseverance to chase our goals and remain focused despite the inevitable challenges.
One of the crucial factors in maintaining grit is the ability to delay gratification, and we’ll dive into the importance of taking small, compounding steps that have a bigger impact on our long-term success.
I encourage you to reflect on recent challenges and reframe them as opportunities for growth.
And ask yourself: what's one specific challenge or setback you've faced recently that, if viewed through the lens of grit, could be seen as an opportunity for growth rather than just an obstacle?

Do you feel safe to walk around your neighbourhood in the dark?
I don’t. And I have a feeling it’s not just me.
It’s ridonkulous that in this day and age, a woman doesn’t feel safe to go for a walk on her own! It’s a very real problem - I wish I had an answer, but I don’t. So the least I can do is share my personal experience to shed some light on the issue.
At the start of the year, I set a goal to up my steps to 20,000 steps a day. That’s a lot of steps! To make that happen, it meant waking up at 5 am. Do you know how dark it is at 5 am?! It’s dark. And I don’t feel safe.
One afternoon, my friend Mary was in town for a short visit and we decided to take a stroll along the Yarra River. It was around five in the afternoon, and everything was lovely until we witnessed two gangs of teens going really hard at each other.
I was paralysed with fear. I wanted to help but fortunately, Mary pulled me away. It was clear that these kids were high on drugs, and any attempt to intervene would have ended badly, especially considering I’m only five foot two!
So, I had to think hard about how I was going to feel safe while on my 5 am walks. If you’re feeling unsettled like I am, maybe these ideas will help you too.
After about four weeks of solo early morning walks, my husband, Mark asked to come with me. Seeing how dark it was at 5 am, he asked me if I felt safe and of course, I said “No!” So now he comes with me every day and that makes me feel very safe. He’s an amazing husband. But not everyone has a partner to go with them.
This is a very real problem, and I wish I had a clear solution. I’m increasingly curious about what other women are doing to feel safe. If you’re experiencing similar feelings of unease, please know you’re not alone.
At the end of the day, I’m not going to let fear get in the way of me getting out and doing what I need to do. Don’t let fear get in your way either.

When you picture a thriving woman, do you automatically think about how much money she makes?
To me, a thriving woman pays attention to every single aspect of her life, not just her business. She is surrounded by a community of like-minded women and is open to learning and growing. She cheers others on and understands that life works in seasons.
The Birth of Thriving Women
I started Thriving Women because I wanted a group of women - like me - to connect, coach, and build a community with. When I began my business, I found it lonely, especially now that many of us are working from home. Interaction with others, especially like-minded women, is essential. More heads are better than one—for creative idea-making, problem-solving, cheerleading, and even giving a good butt-kicking when needed. There is an extraordinary power in community.
How to build a great program
The Magic of Community
We’ve seen the women in our community achieve some remarkable results - business growth skyrocketing, publishing books, going from a one woman business to managing a team of 12 people. But the one thing everyone keeps coming back for is the community.
So, whether you’re part of the Thriving Women network or another community out there, I encourage you to keep investing into the people around you. Keep being a cheer leader of others to help them flourish. That’s what a thriving woman does!

Have you ever felt like you're juggling a hundred balls at once, teetering on the edge of burnout, and questioning if it's all worth it? Welcome to the messy middle of your business. This is an intensely stressful but immensely educational phase that typically occurs around the third year of business or when annual revenue hits about $300,000. Today I’m sharing the tips and tricks that helped me navigate through my own messy middle, so you can steer your business toward sustainable success.
My biggest lesson from this journey was the need to pause and reflect. If you’re in the messy middle, I recommend you pause, evaluate your current business landscape, and take actionable steps for a clearer and more manageable future. Remember, the messy middle is temporary. With the right strategies and a willingness to make tough decisions, you can transition from chaos to clarity.

When is ‘enough’ enough?
Recently, my client showed up to a coaching session. She was wrecked. She had spent the good part of the last two years delivering, showing up and serving her clients really well.
I was so proud of and thrilled for her - and then she dropped the clanger on me: “Em, when is ‘enough’ enough?”
I fully understood what she meant. We all need to make money. But how do we choose between the relentless hustle of work and our own wellbeing?
Is it one or the other, or can we find a healthy balance?
Today, I’m sharing the questions I asked my client in order to uncover the root of her exhaustion, and the strategies we discussed to help her re-prioritise her own sense of wellbeing.
We’ll explore redefining what success looks like to you, how to implement self-care to avoid burnout and regularly adding something to your diary that you can look forward to.
Remember, success isn't solely about achieving those financial goals; it's also about maintaining mental, emotional and physical health to keep you on the right track.
So, what does success look like in your own life? And when is ‘enough’ enough for you?

Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes to share what I did to maximise my visibility in my space. Some wins were easy and some tricky, but all of them have proved to be incredibly effective.
We’ll explore my favourite cost-effective strategies that helped me kickstart my business: blogs, newsletters, social media and networking. I’ll break down each of these tools to help you get started.
We’ll also take a look at investing in some professional touches when the time is right or you have the means. This includes annual photoshoots and quality stock imagery for varied social media content, case studies to showcase your services and book writing/publishing.
While some of these strategies can feel daunting, they’re the kind of tactics necessary to break through the noise we find ourselves up against. We just have to hack our own brains and remember that absolutely no one is judging us in the way we think!

Did you know that 92 per cent of women in business make less than $100K a year in revenue? A large part of this is simply due to not knowing how to price their service offers properly.
I want to see more women making more money—not just for the sake of it, but because it leads to more choice and freedom in your business and life.
First things first, I want us to stop charging an hourly rate. Charging by the hour can cap your earnings and make it difficult to scale your business. Let’s say you want to make $100K a year, work 40 weeks out of the year, and work for 30 hours each week. Your initial calculation might lead you to believe you need to charge $84 an hour. But remember, you won't be billing all 30 hours. Between marketing, social media, bookkeeping, and other tasks, you'll likely only be billing 20 hours each week. So let's revise that to an hourly rate of $125.
Even though we don't want to charge by the hour, understanding this helps us see the value we need to attach to our time and services.
Introducing Tiered Pricing Models
Now, let’s talk about a tiered pricing model. This involves offering multiple levels of your service, each at a different price point. Money psychology teaches us that if a person is presented with three options, most people will pick the middle option. Your tiers could look something like this:
Basic: $100 per month
Standard: $200 per month
Premium: $400 per month
You can offer different sets of features or benefits for each tier. For example, your basic tier could offer essential services, the standard tier offers more comprehensive services, and the premium tier provides the complete package for those willing to pay extra. This way, you attract a broader range of clients and maximise your revenue without significantly increasing your workload.
Consider implementing a tiered pricing strategy in your business to give yourself more stability and focus on trying to achieve the MRR (monthly recurring revenue) number that will get you to the 100K per year goal. It can take some time to figure out the perfect tiers for your service, but the effort is well worth it.

Scaling a business is a buzzword we often hear in the entrepreneurial world. Yet, many of us don't fully understand what it means, how it differs from growing a business, or how to implement it effectively.
I recently worked with one of my clients who wanted to scale her membership service, and I realised just how much there is to consider. So today I want to share my insight on what it actually means to scale and whether it's the right move for you.
Let's start by breaking down the differences between scaling and growing. Even though these words are often used interchangeably, they don’t mean the same thing.
1. Resource Allocation: Growing involves a proportional increase in resources such as capital, workforce, or operational capacity. In scaling, the goal is to achieve more with less. This means a focus is on increasing revenue without significantly increasing resources.
2. Efficiency: Growth tends to be less efficient due to its linear expansion of resources and costs. Scaling emphasises efficiency and sustainability, aiming to increase revenue while minimising costs.
3. Strategy and Implementation: Growth strategies may include hiring more employees, opening new locations, or increasing production. Scaling requires strategic planning and innovation to handle increased demand without proportional cost increases.
To make things clearer, let’s look at some examples! A restaurant that opens new locations to serve more customers experiences growth. It doubles its revenue but also doubles its costs for rent, staff, and supplies. Meanwhile, a software company that automates customer support with AI can serve more customers without hiring additional staff. This is scaling because they’ve significantly increased revenue with minimal cost.
There are several benefits to scaling your business, like an increased market demand, greater revenue potential, and a competitive advantage. However, scaling is not just about the upside; there are risks involved. If your business isn’t ready you can overextend and expose it to unnecessary risks.
Remember, scaling isn’t for anyone. Like any decision in business, it’s important to be well-informed before diving in. Whether you decide to scale or grow, I hope the information I’ve shared will help you make the best decision for your business.

Are you scared to invest in your business?
Seven years ago, I bootstrapped my business with my own savings, not taking out loans or relying on investors. It was just me, making things work under pretty tight conditions. When I started the business, I had one rule: don't spend money until you've made money. There were, however, two exceptions: one was a terrible website I made on my own and then quickly discarded (because it was atrocious), and the other was investing $26,000 per year into a business school.
It felt like an enormous sum at the time, but I had faith that the work I would generate from being in that business school, would more than pay for the investment I was making. That decision turned out to be one of the best I ever made—I felt secure as I transitioned from my corporate role into my own business.
Now, let me ask you: would you have taken that risk? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments. Women are quick to invest in our children, beauty routines, and family holidays, but when it comes to our businesses, we often hesitate. In this episode, I break down why I think this is the case and some strategies to help you feel more comfortable investing in your business.
Fear of investing in your business is understandable, but the potential rewards far outweigh the risks. Build a supportive network, seek mentorship, and continually educate yourself. Prioritise your wellbeing and finances smartly. With these strategies, you'll be well on your way to overcoming the fear that holds you back.
I hope my tips have been helpful. Pick one and try it. Give it enough time to work, and if it does, let me know

Increasing profitability can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be.
Today, I thought I'd share three ways to increase the profit of your business. Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting out, these tips can help you maximise your revenue and improve your bottom line.
1. Dive Deep into Your Numbers
The first step to boosting your profitability is a thorough analysis of your numbers. It might sound really simple, or even silly but I see way too many women burying their heads in the sand because they lack confidence or financial literacy.
2. Increase Your Prices
Another simple often neglected strategy for increasing profit is to raise your prices. Women, in particular, tend to undervalue their services and hesitate to charge what they're worth. If inflation and business costs rise, so too should your prices. Regularly reviewing and adjusting your prices to reflect the market conditions and the value you provide is crucial.
3. Create New Offers
Introducing new, high-margin offers is another effective way to increase profit. This doesn’t mean pushing out offers with no margin—instead, focus on those with good revenue and strong profit potential.

One of the most common questions I get asked as a business coach is, "How do I price my services?" It causes stress and anxiety for many entrepreneurs so today I want to talk about value-based pricing and how value-stacking can make your offerings irresistible.
Value-based pricing is a strategy where the price of a product or service is determined by the perceived value to the customer rather than the cost of production or historical prices.
Adopting a value-based pricing strategy allows you to communicate the unique advantages and value-adds your product or service offers. This helps you stand out in the market and escape the price wars.
How to Implement Value-Based Pricing
1. Understand Your Client’s Perceived Value: Dive into the minds of your customers. What problems does your offering solve for them? What benefits do they value the most?
2. Stack the Value: When customers feel they are getting substantial value, they are less likely to question the price. To achieve this, provide additional resources, access to tools, or exclusive content that complements the rest of the package and addresses your client's needs.
Remember, the first sale you need to make is to yourself. If you're not thoroughly convinced about the value of your offer, it's time to reassess and add more value!

“People just aren’t buying right now”.
It’s a phrase I’ve heard many times over the last 6 months at least, and I understand how difficult it can be to make sales right now.
With rising interest rates, a housing crisis, ads becoming more expensive and generally sluggish social media engagement, we know the market has changed.
But to say that people aren’t buying right now without looking at the bigger picture, I feel needs some further investigation. People are still spending money, and sales are still happening.
Here are three things you can do to keep selling through challenging times:
1. Get Creative and Stand Out
Don't just offer the same old thing everyone else does. Think about what makes you unique and how you can deliver exceptional value.
2. Your Energy Check In
People are drawn to positive energy. Do an honest self-assessment. Are you bringing the enthusiasm you need to connect with potential customers?
3. Be Proactive
No more waiting for leads to fall into your lap. Be intentional about your business development efforts. Here are some key areas to focus on:
While the sales landscape may seem harder right now, remember that people are still spending money. By implementing these key strategies – getting creative with your offerings, radiating positive energy, and taking a proactive approach to sales – your business can thrive.

As we approach the end of the financial year, small business owners need to reflect on their financial position and make strategic decisions for the year ahead. That’s why today I’m sharing 10 key questions you can ask yourself to ensure financial preparedness.
1. Have I maximised all my tax deductions?
2. Are my financial records up to date?
3. Do I need to make any last-minute purchases?
4. Is there any income I should defer?
5. Have I reviewed my business plan and budget?
6. Am I on track with my retirement contributions?
7. Should I adjust payroll withholdings?
8. Do I have any outstanding invoices?
9. How is my cash flow management going?
10. What are my financial goals for the next year?
Preparing for the end of the financial year involves more than just crunching numbers—it requires strategic foresight, meticulous planning, and a proactive approach to financial management. By asking yourself these 10 crucial financial questions and taking action based on the insights gained, you can set your business up for success in the upcoming financial year.
Let's face it, running a small business is tough. There are days when the endless to-do list feels overwhelming, and there is a distinct lack of motivation.
I've spoken to many small business owners recently feeling this exact way. Words like "lacking motivation" and "no mojo" are all too common.
But here's the good news: you're not alone! Even the most successful entrepreneurs experience dips in motivation. The key is understanding why you're feeling this way and having some strategies to get your spark back.
Self-reflection is Key
The first step is to identify the root cause of your lack of motivation. Grab a cup of tea and ask yourself some key questions:
What Drains Your Mojo?
For me, I’ve discovered that mojo depletion often comes from three main culprits:
Five Ways to Reignite Your Mojo
Remember, resurfacing from a lack of motivation is an ongoing process. Experiment with these tips and find what works best for you.

The good news is, there’s a way out of the mess. In this article, I'm going to share some practical tips that helped me break free from feeling stuck in business and get back on track.
Ask Yourself These Questions:
Taking Action to Break Free:

If you’re drowning in a busy schedule, it's time to hit pause and start setting boundaries with the mighty to-don't list.
The to-don’t list identifies activities that waste your time, create distractions, or don't align with your priorities so you can consciously avoid them. This frees up time and brain power so you can focus on what really matters to you.
In today’s episode, I’m going to share tips about how you can create your own to-don't list:
Identifying Timewasters: Take a look at your daily schedule and identify activities that are wasting time. This could be excessive social media browsing, unnecessary meetings, or ineffective multitasking.
Setting Boundaries: For your to-don’t list to be effective, you need to establish clear parameters for yourself
Communicating Your Boundaries: It’s essential to communicate your boundaries with others to ensure they understand and respect your choices.
Hacking Yourself: Reinforce your to-don't list by establishing consequences or rewards for yourself. This will help you stay motivated and committed.
Review and Adjust: Your to-don't list should not be static. Regularly review and adjust it to ensure it remains relevant to your goals
If this episode has inspired you to make your own to-don’t list remember to be kind to yourself, celebrate your victories, and stay committed to the habits that serve you best.

Did you know that the average adult makes 35000 decisions every day?
It’s an overwhelming number and it blew my mind when I first heard it.
From the moment we wake up to the time we go to sleep, our brain makes decisions that shape our actions and define our paths in life. If we aren’t making good decisions how will that impact us, and if we could improve our decision-making what effect would that have on our lives and our businesses?
Today I want to share the four questions I ask myself when making big decisions. They help me look past conflicting desires and responsibilities to see what choice is best for me.
Question One: Do I want to do it? This might seem simple, but I think it’s a crucial step as you can often fool yourself into thinking you want something you actually don’t. I find journalling is incredibly helpful for working through this.
Question Two: Is it good for me? Decisions can have consequences that aren’t immediately apparent. Take time to think through a course of action and what positive/negative effects it will have.
Question Three: Is it good for my family? Even if a decision is great for you, it can affect the people around you negatively. I need to consider how things will affect my three children and my husband. Is it a good choice for us? Is it even feasible for us?
Question Four: What does my gut say? Too often in business, I’ve made choices based on logic that go against how my gut feels. These seem like great decisions at the time but sometimes they cause a lot of trouble I could have avoided if I’d listened to my gut.
I’ll also share a difficult choice I was faced with at the end of last year and walk you through how each of the questions helped me prioritise my health, energy, and family despite the incredibly tempting opportunity.
In the end, decision-making is not just about making choices; it's about understanding yourself, aligning with your values, and nurturing your well-being. So, the next time you're faced with a tough decision, make sure you take the time to understand how you feel, and don’t forget to listen to your gut.

Are you currently feeling scattered in your business?
When you sit down at your desk to start your work day, is the list of tasks insurmountable?
You’re feeling so overwhelmed by all the things you need to do, you have a million tasks on your plate and no clear direction on how to tackle them.
If you’re currently feeling scattered in your business, here are a few practical tips that I often share with my clients:
Step Away and Refresh: Sometimes, the best way to gain clarity is to step away from the keyboard! Take a break, go for a walk, or simply have a cup of tea to clear your mind. Even a few minutes away from your desk can give you the mental headspace that you need.
Prioritise Tasks: Instead of tackling your entire to-do list at once, identify the tasks that will truly move the needle in your business and prioritise them. I like to plan my week on a Sunday afternoon, and then pull from that list just three tasks to focus on per day.
Eliminate Distractions: Distractions can worsen the scattered feeling. Turn off notifications, leave your phone in another room if you have to and set specific work periods using techniques like the Pomodoro method.
Focus on One Thing: Identify the one key task that will propel you forward and dedicate your efforts to it. Stick to it until you see results. If you have too many things to focus on at once (especially if they’re all decent-sized projects), your ability to finish any of them will be diminished.
Script Feedback: When giving feedback or addressing issues, use a structured approach like the SBI model (Situation, Behaviour, Impact) to keep emotions at bay and ensure clarity in communication.
Navigating through moments where you feel scattered in your business is a common challenge. But with the right strategies, you can regain your clarity and focus. Remember, it's often about stripping away the noise, identifying the core tasks that matter, and committing to them with intention and purpose.

Sometimes it can be difficult to separate your feelings from those of your clients.
They’re going through something hard in their business, their energy is depleted and they are coming to you for guidance.
How do you ensure you can hold space for their feelings and work through their issues, without taking on their energy?
Today, I want to share with you a personal experience with a client that taught me valuable lessons in managing not just my energy, but also that of my clients.
I have three go-to strategies that I hope will help you to maintain your energy levels.
1. Preparing for Challenging Conversations
Anticipating the emotional intensity of client discussions and mentally preparing myself helps me approach each interaction with clarity and empathy. Setting boundaries and being in the right mindset before a session is crucial.
2. The Role of Physical Activity to Move Energy
Taking a solitary walk or engaging in a calming activity like journaling or meditation allows me to decompress and process the emotions that arise during intense client conversations. Physical movement and quiet reflection work wonders in restoring balance.
3. Listening to Your Gut
Recognising the signals your body sends in response to stress or discomfort is essential. Trusting your instincts and acting on them can prevent emotional overload and help you work through challenging situations.
As you come across clients burdened with heavy emotions or challenging situations, remember to prioritise self-care, set clear boundaries, and trust your intuition. By managing your energy effectively, you not only safeguard your well-being but also enhance your capacity to support and empower those you work with.

There is no shortage of resources for time management optimisation in business.
We have software tools up the wazoo to help us operate more efficiently, block out every hour with the help of AI robots, and schedule in our breaks to get ourselves all organised.
But even with all these productivity and optimisation tools, we still get to the end of the day ready to fall in a big heap and doom-scroll social media to zone out.
Maybe we just haven’t figured out the most effective time management tool for our needs yet. Surely there are others we can try.
Well, I think we may be focusing on the wrong thing.
So often, we're told to focus on time management, but what if I told you that energy is where the real magic happens?
Prior to focusing on my energy levels, my family was probably receiving the “dregs” of my personality. I was always exhausted, had a lot of things on my mind and was never really as present as I should have been.
So, if you’re feeling like you’ve got your time management down pat and you’re still a bit of a mess, prioritise your energy instead and see how you feel!

Do you feel like you never have enough time in your workday to get everything done?
Even if you set yourself a task list for the day which looks like it should be achievable, you’re still struggling to get through it.
At the end of the day you feel unproductive, overwhelmed and you’re struggling to see where the hours went.
It’s an extremely common feeling, and I have three tips to help you steal back your precious time that I know will help you achieve more.
1.Batching Your Tasks
Grouping similar tasks prevents time lost in task-switching and boosts efficiency. Did you know for example that every time you switch tasks, you lose 25 minutes! If you are batching your similar tasks, you lose less time overall.
2.Focus on Three Tasks Per Day
I find it extremely important to focus on just three main tasks per day to keep the momentum going. If I have too many items on my to-do list for the day, I actually get way less done and I feel overwhelmed when I don’t cross them all off.
3.Stop Scrolling Socials and Checking Emails Constantly
Setting designated times to check social media and limiting email access to a few specific slots a day can prevent unnecessary time drainage. Outsourcing tasks you dislike and prioritising tasks you enjoy are also key practices in reclaiming your time.
Stealing back time in your workday requires a conscious effort to optimise how you use the hours available to you. By implementing strategies like task batching, time auditing, and prioritisation, you can take control of your time and increase your productivity.
Remember, it's not about finding more time; it's about making the most of the time you have.

When was the last time you took a nap in the middle of the day on a weekday?
Most people might not be able to remember a time when they did, or perhaps it was only because they were unwell.
Well, you might be surprised to learn that I take a nap every single day.
Between the hours of 12pm - 2pm, I have a dedicated rest period where I give my body and my mind a rest.
Yes, just like a toddler.
But I wasn’t always this way.
Having three kids, a business to run and a household to keep together, I used to struggle with the idea of setting aside time to rest throughout the day. It felt like there were already too few hours in the day to get all the things done, how could I take more time out to nap?
I can almost bet that if I hadn’t been forced to stop, I probably would have never started taking my daily naps, but now that I’m here I can’t imagine ever going back.

How do you know if your community is getting you results?
I guess the first question to ask yourself would be, what does “results” actually mean to you.
Are you looking for more revenue, connections, advice, sales or maybe you’re just in the community to keep you stay accountable.
Results don’t have to be driven by money, but I bet if you sat down and thought about it, you could name what aspects of your community are working for you.
And sometimes when we look deeper into the communities we’re in, we realise they’re not serving much of a purpose at all. If that’s you, it’s probably time for a change and you might need to think more deeply about what you need.

I am a raging introvert. Yes, I love getting out running business events, meeting new people and being around other humans, but I also need a lot of downtime afterwards.
As an introvert, I need a lot of space on my own so that I can recharge.
When you run your own business, networking and building relationships is one of the key activities that you need to give attention to. But if you’re an introvert, that’s often not something you feel particularly enthusiastic about doing.
So how do you reach out to other business people as an introvert?
I have a few key strategies that have helped me build valuable relationships as an introvert, and my hope is that they help you too.

If you had to choose between an in-person or a virtual offering, what would be your preference?
You might be sitting there thinking, well hang on there are pros and cons to both of them. I want to show up in my pj bottoms and a top knot which is great for virtual, but in-person that may be frowned upon. In-person is a lot more effort.
But maybe in-person is better because we feel more connected to the other humans in the room, and we can achieve more results.
You’re probably now more confused and for that, I’m not apologising. It’s a long-standing debate and one I’m eager to tackle for you. Let’s dive into the pros and cons of each approach for your business, and see where it leads.

Are you currently involved in a business community that you absolutely love being apart of? I’d invite you to reflect on this for a minute, and establish what it is about your community that you feel makes it so special.
To me, the ability for a group of like-minded individuals to come together, share experiences, offer support, and ignite inspiration is truly remarkable. The impact of community goes beyond mere proximity; it allows you to share struggles, benefit from collective wisdom and unwavering encouragement.
Recently, I had the privilege of hosting the first Thriving Women Retreat for 2024 and in the words of one of our attendees, it was "amazeballs." When I was reflecting on the experience after the retreat was over, it wasn't just the content or the location; it was the undeniable power of community that we were all surrounded by.

It was October 2017, and my life was about to take a major turn. I was faced with the prospect of starting a new job that I didn't really want. As I approached my 40th birthday, I also had a child who was about to start school and I couldn't shake the sinking feeling in my stomach.
My partner was a school teacher, and I knew that taking this job wouldn’t be entirely flexible. I was struggling to see how we were going to be able to ensure our child would have the stability that we wanted. How were we going to manage the inevitable sick child phone calls from the school, volunteering requests and all that other good stuff.
I desperately wanted to be available for the needs of the family, and it was hard to imagine how my new role would accommodate this. I also wanted to be able to wear whatever I wanted every day, like my favourite pair of jeans!
It was at that moment that I knew I had to make a change. I needed to create my own reality, one that would bring me joy and financial freedom.

Emma McQueen gets those questions all the time, and today she sets out to answer them. She emphasizes her results-oriented style and the importance of alignment between coach and client. A business coach can serve as a sounding board, cheerleader, and accountability partner, but ultimately the client is responsible for their own success through their willingness to implement strategies and take action.

If you know that a successful sale includes a number of rejections, then the more rejections will ultimately lead to more sales. Anyone in business knows that growth is not linear. Sales don’t stick to on an incremental path, and the activities you do to generate growth, likewise, aren’t the same. It’s hard sometimes to hustle for sales, while your also trying deliver on orders or service from previous sales. In this episode of Queen’s Counsel, Emma McQueen and Tracey Mylecharane recognise the importance of implementing processes to smooth the roller coaster ride of business life and to help you feel less overwhelmed.
