This week Jordan Blundell and Dean Millard were joined by Umpire Matt Payne. Matt has been an official for years and has worked all types Canadian and International events. It was great to pick the brain of Blue about what goes through their mind during certain situations. Jordan and Dean discussed the ongoing fight with MLB players and owners (Dean ranted) as well as the MLB Draft and signing period and the 30 for 30 on the 1998 home run race between McGwire and Sosa (Dean ranted again). Our Top 5 list was power hitters of the 90's and the Long Ball was front and centre for Baseball Thunderdome.

This week Brian McCabe of the University of Benedictine Redhawks program joined Jordan Blundell and Dean Millard. The Redhawks are a feeder system to the WCBL and Brian worked under former MLB catcher Kelly Stinnett for the first couple of years. The Redhawks were denied a berth in the NAIA World Series and it's provided some motivation for whenever they get on field again. Jordan and Dean also touched on some recent comments made about the Prospects from the new operator of ReMax Field, and Dean unveiled a surprise new segment for Jordan.

This week Jordan Blundell and Dean Millard welcomed in a member of the baseball family, literally. Brent Parker's family owned the Calgary Cannons that played in the same PCL as the Edmonton Trappers and had some HOFers put the uniform on. Brent discussed his family's history with sports some of his favourite players as well as the challenges that pro baseball in Canada and specifically Alberta poses. It was a great trip down memory lane. Jordan and Dean spoke about the ReMax Field announcement with the city and how the Prospects are moving upwards and onwards into building a brand new stadium in Spruce Grove. Around the Horn featured MLB's future, the Korean Baseball Organization and some baseball history including how the Oakland A's are basically the Expos of the American League. He joined Jordan Blundell and Dean Millard to discuss his journey, roster management, the uniqueness of coaching on the island and how they are shuffling the season. They also chatted about playing baseball in the afternoon heat in Phoenix in the summer and whether or not MLB would be able to play afternoon games in June. Dean and Jordan also discussed the future of the WCBL and MLB seasons and Michael Jordan's short baseball career.

This week Jordan Blundell and Dean Millard chatted with former Prospect player and St. Albert Minor Baseball Association alum Erik Sabrowski who was a draft pick of the San Diego Padres in 2018. Erik spoke about the roller coaster week when he was drafted, recovering from Tommy John surgery, being a Padre as well as growing up in St. Albert and wearing the Prospects jersey in the river valley. We also asked him what he gets asked about the most when it comes to being Canadian. The Astros cheating scandal is still fresh in the minds of baseball players and fans and Erik didn't hold back his opinion.

Each week Jordan and Dean go Around the Horn and talk the big news in baseball. A few more MLB signings since last week including Josh Donaldson getting 4 years in Minnesota. Jordan tries to convince Dean there's a method to the Twins madness. Marte to the Dbacks and the Dodgers and Padres have interest in Mookie Betts from Boston. Jordan also gave listeners the details on his most recent signings. The season might seem far away for some, but for others it's right around the corner.
What a treat this week to welcome in Jordan's former coach Tom Hager who is still the head man at the University of Jamestown. Dean, Jordan and Tom chatted life as a Jimmie, the college baseball scene and the importance of teams like the Prospects and building relationships. The guys also discussed the tragedy that was the helicopter crash on Sunday in California taking the lives of 9 people including NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13 year old daughter. Tom addressed it with his students today and revealed how a 3 time Olympian played a role in it. Jordan and Dean debated some of the recent player signings in MLB and with the Edmonton Prospects. The club will start up in 2021 and Aqil gave us a look at their road map to success. Keegan Matheson of MLB.com previewed the AL and NL match ups with Jordan and Dean as well the Blue Jays, the team that Keegan covers on a regular basis. You know Cam Moon for his longtime career as the voice of the Red Deer Rebels in the WHL, but did you know he listens to ball games on the bus, coaches baseball and his son played pro ball in Europe this year? To say he is a fanatic is putting it mildly and Jordan and Dean had a really fun conversation with him in this week's episode. Cam grew up in the North Side of Edmonton and that's about the only thing he doesn't have in common with South Sider Jordan. Dean spent a lot of time with Mooner while he worked for RDTV and the two spent a few nights at the ball park this summer watching Jordan's Prospects. Cam gave us his thoughts on the WCBL and what makes it such a great fit in Edmonton and he told us some of his wicked Edmonton Trapper memories. We also discussed the Top 5 nicknames in baseball and went through some of the great listener submissions. It was a wild weekend for the Cubs, while MLB managerial vacancies are a plenty. The WCBL season has come to an end and the Okotoks Dawgs are your 2019 champions. We spoke with Managing Director John Ircandia on what it meant to win the title this year and about stadiums. John helped bring the Dawgs to Calgary but when the City wanted pro baseball he built his own stadium and moved the team to Okotoks where they are thriving and helping the community in a big way. The Prospects are facing an uncertain future at ReMax Field right now and John is warning the City of Edmonton to not make the same mistakes Calgary did with Burns Stadium now empty. Jordan and Dean also discussed the red hot Phillies and Indians in MLB, our usual Fantasy Baseball round up and this week we listed our all time starting 5 pitching staff. You won't believe who Jordan has in his all time staff. Plus we shared more of our baseball memories and Kirk Gibson '88 finally came up!!!

The Prospects lost the battle with mother nature this year, but persevered and came out perfect from a marathon weekend. 3 games Saturday, 2 Sunday and one on Monday, or an average of a 3 straight double headers and they won them all. In doing so they clinched a playoff spot and will take on Okotoks starting Thursday. They head into the post season on a 7 game heater!!! Jordan and Dean were joined by Prospects pitching coach Austin Guzzo who did a masterful job of managing his pitching staff during the loooooonnnnnnngggggggg weekend and even put on a show Saturday night in getting tossed from the game. Dean and Jordan discussed their favourite starting pitchers of all time and who they think the best of all time is and we have tickets for this Friday's playoff game up for grabs in Take Me Out To The Ball Game Trivia. We also dove into Fantasy Baseball with some big weeks from Jordan and Dean's clubs and we announced our intentions to form a Prospects Baseball Show Fantasy Baseball League next year.

Edmonton's Madison Willan is a rising star in baseball, hockey and golf. She'll be suiting up for the power house Panda's hockey program at the U of A this fall and next month will try to help Canada dominate at the Women's Baseball World Cup qualifier in Mexico. She made her national team debut last World Cup in grand style helping Canada win bronze. Madison is a great role model as she hasn't and doesn't plan on specializing in just one sport. Dean and Jordan also discussed the best RP in All Time Team, recapped the MLB HOF ceremony and a long All Star week of Fantasy Baseball. In episode 9 we chatted a bit about a higher power after the incredible night the Angels had on Tyler Skaggs Tribute night. Tanner Roundy was in studio with Jordan Blundell and Dean Millard and spoke about an emotional night he had playing the game a day after one of his best friends was among the 58 killed in Las Vegas on October 1st, 2017 and how he felt his friend was with him that night when something very rare took place for Tanner. Jordan and Dean recapped the recent 5 game win streak and how they prepare heading into the final 17 games only a game out of 2nd place with 4 teams in each division making the playoffs. It's All Star Week in MLB and the WCBL just had it's All Star Game Sunday in Edmonton hosted by the Prospects and we were joined by Prospects closer David Wylie who picked up the save in the All Star Game. He grew up in San Diego idolizing Padres great Trevor Hoffman and told us his connection to the Hall of Fame closer. Dean and Jordan looked back at some past All Star Games, debated if Vlad Jr should be in the HR Derby and discussed who was the greatest catcher of all time. Lot's of ways to win free stuff as usual. The Prospects are home after a 2-1 road trip that included them getting no hit in Weyburn and it's Canada Day, meaning a huge crowd will be expected for tonight's game and post game fireworks viewing. Edmonton Prospect starting pitcher Hunter Boyd can rack up the strike outs, but to do this he overcame an injury sustained in an accident when he was a kid. He told us about getting in grooves, and the chess match between pitcher and batter. Dean and Jordan debated the best 2nd basemen of all time and chatted fantasy baseball. Matt Stairs hit the most pinch hit home runs in MLB history and this week the Canadian Baseball HOF member told us what his approach to pinch hitting was, especially his legendary 2008 NLCS bomb off Jonathan Broxton that propelled the Phillies to a World Series. Matt, who will be in Edmonton for the July 7th All Star Game, played for the Trappers at one point as well as the Expos and Blue Jays among other teams. He gave us his opinion on the best ball parks, toughest pitchers and his road to the show.
