We're excited to Gather together again this weekend both In Person and Online. As we've gone through the summer we've had the opportunity to meet lots of new people/families each weekend. What a great time to get to know others and enjoy that fellowship!

We are back with week 4 of our Advent series. In this service we are going to explore what it looks like to Worship Fully. Along with a great dive into Luke 1 we are also going to have an extended time of worship after the message concludes. No matter what you do, what socio-economic place you find yourself, no matter what others say about you, this gift of grace and mercy is yours. God is far more about love than you will ever be able to grasp. This is why we gladly serve Him will all we have! Yet he comes to us a humble baby in very humble circumstances…. Our Humble King.

If there is anything our world needs today, it's hope. At Sauble Christian Fellowship we say that we are "a beacon of hope"... are we? This service reminds us of confident hope we have and challenges us to drop the cynicism, pessimism, and grumbling! Choose to live as people with hope! This message was from October 2019 - before COVID - but much of what Pastor Dave says here has a lot to do with living through this pandemic - it's weirdly relevant.
Today we begin our Christmas series, Advent Conspiracy! For so many of us, the Christmas season brings warm and comfortable feelings. It’s so familiar, filled with nostalgia and tradition. But, in actuality, the account of Jesus’ birth as recorded in Matthew and Luke’s gospels reveals a dangerous story. Jesus is born in a dangerous place and at a dangerous time. And Jesus arrives in impoverished fashion, in a barn, with very few paying attention. How ironic it is that the Christmas season in our day brings with it an onslaught of spending when what we’re actually celebrating is our Saviour born with nothing, actually homeless. What if this Christmas 2021 season, we actually spend less?
Today we hear from Chris about some of his personal story as well as ministry updates in our church and to wrap it up we spend some time together in communion.
Today we dig into an essential of the church - baptism. As followers of Jesus, we see clearly in Matthew 28 that our mission is to make disciples, and we do this by teaching everything that they Lord commanded, and baptizing in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Join us as we look at this important step of obedience for a Jesus follower.
The early church in Jerusalem was devoted to sharing the good news message of Jesus. As they did so, “the Lord added daily to their number those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47). The kind of numerical growth to be excited about and to highlight is the growth that happens when Jesus saves and adds people to the church. He doesn’t add them without saving them and He doesn’t save them without adding them. We can add to the crowd, but only Jesus can add to the Church.
The Jerusalem church described in Acts 2 was a worshiping church. Their worship is described with words and phrases such as “filled with awe” and “glad and sincere hearts praising God.” Worship is not first and foremost about church services or music, it is first and foremost about a posture of heart and mind…the heart of worship. What would it mean for us to press reset and to devote ourselves to being joy-filled and celebratory worshipers of Jesus?
The Jerusalem church described in Acts 2 practiced radical generosity. They were said to have “everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need” (Acts 2:44-45). Having everything in common? Selling property and possessions? Is this for us here and now, or was this merely a description of them there and then? What kind of generosity is Jesus calling us to today? We’ll take a shot at answering those questions in today’s segment of RESET.
In today’s sermon we take special note that the early church was a praying church, not merely a church that prays. There’s a difference!! They prayed in unity, perseverance and in response to the promises of God. And God answered!!
The Acts 2 church was an incredibly diverse collection of people. They came from different cultural and political backgrounds, they spoke different languages, some were people of means and others had next to nothing. On paper, this church looked like it should be a total flop, but they were “devoted to fellowship.” The Greek word translated “fellowship” is koinonia, which means “common.” This early church was devoted to what they held in common, which was Jesus! Jesus + nothing. Is Jesus + nothing enough for us?
What would it look like for us to really take seriously the words of Jesus? What if we just all agreed that the teachings of Jesus are normative for all Jesus-followers, regardless of which theological camp we may place ourselves in? In Acts 2:42, the early church in Jerusalem devoted themselves to the "apostle’s teaching". The “apostle’s teaching” was not referring to the NT because it wasn’t written yet. They devoted themselves to what the apostles taught about Jesus, including the very words of Jesus and their recollections of time spent with him.
This week we look at what it means to be a People of Faith - Believing God for Big Things. Jesus pointed to people's faith often as he ministered - to be the REAL church, we need to have REAL faith. What is faith? Why is it important? What does it mean to live a life of faith as an individual and as a church?
The teaching time this long weekend is changed up a bit into 3 main parts: 1) some updates on our missional connections in Haiti, 2) an introduction to our new teaching series based on Acts 2:42-47, “Reset”, and 3) a celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Happy long weekend!!
Today we will dig a little deeper into the "kind" quality of love. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:4, "Love is kind." We will consider some implications of kindness for our lives as Jesus-followers, as well as for our church. We will also hear a story or two about the power of kindness to impact lives, including one from the Bible where Jesus saved a party host from huge embarrassment!
In today’s segment of Forward Together in Love, we’ll consider the “kind” quality of love. 1 Corinthians 13:4 says “Love is kind.” There have been times over the 20 centuries of church history where the church has expressed the kindness of love in beautiful and powerful ways. But there’s also been times in church history where the church has done the opposite of kindness. Today we’ll consider the good and the bad and what we can learn from both.
