Today we sit down with Lorriane Duvall, a true Adirondack Woman. Lorraine Duvall became a lover of the Adirondacks early in life through a Girl Scout canoe-camping trip on Upper Saranac Lake. As an adult, she vacationed in the southern Adirondacks. Her longtime dream of living in the Adirondacks was realized after she purchased land in Keene in 1995, built a house, and moved there as a retiree. Soon she made friends with others who loved to paddle their canoes on the waters of the Adirondacks.
Since moving to the mountains, Duvall’s varied civic and environmental endeavors have helped her to understand and respect the different perspectives of those who live in and visit the Adirondacks. As a board member of Protect the Adirondacks (and its predecessor organization, the Residents’ Committee to Protect the Adirondacks), she devotes her efforts to environmental issues. She has also served on the Keene Planning Board, the board of the Ausable River Association, the board of the Saranac Lake Community Store, the executive committee of the Hurricane Mountain Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, and the Community Services Board of Essex County.
Duvall holds a BS degree in Mathematics, an MS in Operations Research, and a PhD from Syracuse University in Information Studies. She spent her professional career as a software engineer and director of research. After retiring to the Adirondacks, Duv
all wrote And I Know Too Much To Pretend, which won the 2014 Best Memoir Award from the Adirondack Center for Writing.

Chris’ genuine, personal and considerate delivery aims to connect and instruct, something he sought even as a competitor. As he became the fastest monoskier in the world, he and his female counterpart started a monoski instructional camp to help others unlock their potential without enduring the pain and frustration that they had. Members of those camps went on to win National, World Championship and Paralympic medals.
When he attempted to become the first unassisted paraplegic to summit Mt Kilimanjaro, he stood on the shoulders of his heroes to turn the impossible into reality and give others the courage to confront their fears to live and perform most fully. The climb wasn’t without incident. His team had to carry him up a boulder field, but that “failure” allowed him to separate from the obligation to be a superhero—to be honest, vulnerable and to find his real power. In 2015, he published his first book Things I Want to Remember Not to Forget, inspired by his Middlebury College Commencement Address. The following year, he taught himself to draw and wrote and illustrated his first children’s book, Is It Lonely to be a Four-Leaf Clover? He has appeared on Dateline, Oprah, and 20/20 as well as providing color commentary for the Paralympics on NBC and being one of People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People.”
A popular keynote speaker, Chris helps audiences become champions of their businesses, their worlds and themselves. He has spoken to nearly every industry and kind of audience—from Fortune 500 Companies to non-profits, from sales groups to venture capitalists and engineers. He inspires audiences to consider how seemingly ordinary people can achieve the impossible.

“Nametags”, Labels
The Uncertainty is the Gift / Learning every day
Definition of commencement is a “Beginning”
“Is there anybody out there?” , things have changed in the world, how many people will listen, communicating with minimal interpersonal feedback, seeing and hearing ourselves, potentially broadcasting into the black hole.
Living in our own heads, especially during isolation (Covid quarantine). May be a great time to look inward, opportunity learn and explore self. With no
feedback what do we learn, how do we carry what we learn and bring the best version of ourselves out into the world.
Breaking free of obligations / Moving from “This is what I have to do” to “This is what I want to do”. Learning, experiencing, be in charge of our own happiness, take responsibility for our actions and pivot accordingly.
What’s on the horizon for Chris Waddell?
“Our value is greater than our recognized ability”, embracing getting that message out. It comes with some fear.
“Living it w/ Chris Waddell” TV , One Revolution “Nametags” program,
Documentary.”If you don’t tell the story, it didn’t happen”, when someone wins, or succeeds, we all win. Seeing another shoot for the moon, inspires us.
“Living it” Podcast - 1st guest Carlos Melita
There are many heroes in our midst. When we open our eyes and ears, we will see and hear heroes hiding in plain sight and they are just like us.
Purpose - I want people to see me for the first time / Trying to find a way to make the impossible possible, release people from their own fears. Find a way to fill the void created by assumption, with story.
We are more similar, than we are different
“Nametags” program - The labels and name tags we put on ourselves can be self limiting.

In this episode we sit down with Richard Hamilton CEO of Prosper, a company focused on providing epigenetic testing to the masses. In this episode we explore a broad overview of epigenitics and identify 3 pillars nutrition, exercise, and wellness.
What is epigenetics?
Here’s an example… The VIN number is an unchanging identification marker of your automobile. Much like a car's VIN number, your DNA sequence is a fixed invariable.
However, more information is needed to know how your car runs, like oil and fuel levels, mileage, temperature. Similarly, your overall health - or how your body "runs" - is better determined by your epigenetics which are affected by variables such as fitness, nutrition, environment, stress, and aging. Just as you cannot change your car's VIN number - you cannot change your DNA sequence.
However, you can optimize your car's performance levels by doing things like using premium gas, maintaining appropriate tire pressure, or regularly changing the oil.
Likewise, you can optimize your health by changing your epigenetics through variables such as fitness, nutrition, environment and healthy aging.

Has your mom ever told you "if you keep eating Pizza you'll turn into one?" While it may not be that extreme what we eat definitely has an impact on our overall health and wellness. In this episode we explore how food affects our bodies and what we can do to move the needle in the right direction.
Skittles had the right idea but with a little too much sugar. Eat the rainbow - Dark Leafy greens, berries, brightly colored fruits,
try a new vegetable or fruit each time you visit the produce section. Eating a diverse diet prevents a mono culture in our micro biome.
What matters?
How much we eat.
What we eat.
Meal timing.

dinner”

In this episode we sit down with Chris Fischer and talk about how he built OCEARCH from the ground up. Chris talks about building a environmentally and economically sustainable business built on social media to tracking sharks and facilitating scientific research. OCEARCH aims to aid in the fight to save our oceans and make sure our future generations can enjoy a simple fish sandwich.
OCEARCH is a data-centric organization built too help scientists collect previously unattainable data in the ocean. Their Mission is to Accelerate The Ocean’s Return to Balance and abundance, through fearless innovations in scientific research, education, outreach, and policy using unique collaborations of individuals and organizations in the U.S. and abroad.
Starting in 2005 scientists helped turn Chris’s focus to the White Shark, the apex predator. The scientists identify data deficit and time as the biggest challenges facing the ocean. Chris purchases The Mother Ship, and they set out on their first voyage to catch a shark. Upon catching their first shark the scientist attaches a single tracker, lets it go, and Chris realises he forgot his Dad’s advice. “Always be in the biggest room in the world. The room for improvement.”
After this realization Chris immediately identifies that he needs way more scientists on board and he must pour the world’s oceans into people’s living rooms for this movement to gain traction. The next shark they tagged was off the coast of Massachusetts, Mary Lee named after Chris’s Mother. Mary Lee (4000 lb, 18ft) swam down the East Coast and lit the place up. The news story went viral in every county, city, and state that she passed through giving OCEARCH a leg up in the public consciousness.
OCEARCH is pursuing the democratization of the ocean research funding model. Share the data, give it away! This is the only way to combat the data deficit and time constraints plaguing many researchers around the world.
Expose people to science, turn fear into fascination, be inclusive. They provide dynamic data sets and curriculum available to educators to keep students engaged while also spreading their message. The OCEARCH STEM curriculum is available in 250 languages, free and online. The future? By the people, for the people...
