Hey there!
I sit and chat with a wide ranging set of individuals from both inside and on the outside of the Tabletop/RPG/Boardgame industry about their experience, insight, & motivations.
Put on a show whilst you are painting and hear the stories behind your fellow geekers and the people that created the games you know and love.
I hope you enjoy.
In this episode, I speak to Robert Salters who writes mini-agnostic rule sets. You hear about them in the show, but the one you may know of most is Battlespace, an ultra-modern solo/co-op rule set with some interesting mechanics, which you will hear about in the chat. It was fun to talk to Robert, and I thank him on our behalf for taking the time to chat.
In this episode, I speak to Dave Taylor the Publisher extraordinaire. Dave finds miniature painters who are interesting and who he feels are deserving of a spotlight in which to express their ethos and skill. These books are called The Art Of and you can do a bit of a search for them if you want and see if they tickle your fancy. I think Dave is an interesting guy and it is an interesting concept so check it out if you want. Check out ep 177 for a little more insight into Dave and his history, we dont talk about it in this show, so maybe refresh by listening to that before you slide the whip off the underpants of this episode.
In this episode, Peter, Jon, and Erika discuss details of what to expect at the PatM stand at 2023's Salute show, to be held at London's ExCel Centre.

In this episode I speak once again to Travis from the Tabletop CP YouTube channel. Travis is a friend of the show and we spoke in Ep 160 about Travis’ love for Chain of Command and also about the early years of Tabletop CP, so you can listen to that first if you would like.
In the episode we chat about Bond, hobbying, his love of painting horses, and general health & diet, plus also plans for Tabletop CP. I enjoyed my time talking to Travis and appreciated him coming back onto the show!
In this episode I speak Mr Casey Madden, a hobby nerd just like you and me. We shoot the breeze about being an average nerd, about completion, and about items we use.
Always fun to chat to a fellow nerd and it was a blessing to speak to such a stand up fellow such as Casey.
In this episode I speak to Mr Scott Radom, a long serving Paint All The Minis page member, awesome painter, and positive contributor.
We talk about his roots in Canada, his early playing & tournament experience, his move into trying to paint his minis at a higher level and most, most, importantly his profile picture. It was a pleasure talking to Scott and getting to know someone you have e-known for such a long time but never had a super long actual conversation with. Its a bit weird at times in the modern world isnt it. You can end up with friends who you never never physically seen, with names like Swampwombat34 or whatever. So it was nice to talk to Scott for a full episode and pad out more of the fuzzy image I had of him.
I hope you guys are all ok and doing well. Dont forget to reach out and message if you feel the need, its always nice to connect with you all. If you want to have a sniff around our Discord server then just email paintalltheminis@gmail.com and you can come and participate in our weekly quiz, weekly online league, monthly painting activity and loads more. Its the full package of caring for our fellow nerds.
In this episode I speak once more to the awesome Dave Baker of Trenchworx. Trenchworx work out of Utah in the US and A and help companies create and produce minis for their games along with doing an awesome range of their own. If you want to hear more about history and initial steps from trenchworx then go back to Ep 120 and you can hear from Dave when we met for round one.
In this episode we talk about their new venture into releasing STL files for 3d printing and also 3d printing in general. 3d printing is a new thing for me that I very recently started to discover. I will be doing some episodes over the next weeks and months talking to people in this area as it is an area that has been growing and developing over recent history and its pretty cool.
Hey,
In this episode a joint venture with Matthew from Bedroom Battlefields ( https://bedroombattlefields.com/about/) we chat about common reasons why we cant play and some things we can all do to play as we see fit.
We talk about our feelings and observations about Kickstarter, we recorded this on our PATM discord server (email paintalltheminis@gmail.com if you want in to this) and my job in the chat was to voice my own ideas on KS but also to play devils advocate at times and tease out Zach’s ideas and views.
It was an interesting conversation and one I feel we all need to have with ourselves if we havent already as personal control and knowing yourself is critical if you are going to make more decisions that you believe to be correct than otherwise. Knowing what you like/dont what makes you feel good/doesnt is imperative so that we aren’t used as a tool by others for their own intended aims.
We tried to make the chat balanced, positive, and insightful, giving us both, and possibly yourself food for thought about your own antics and actions, but that is up to you isnt it. It doesnt matter what I say and do, that doesnt affect you, it all comes down to you, and if you are happy then do that, if you aren’t then try something else. I will leave it there as I dont want to tread on the episodes toes, as mentioned already if you want to talk about more stuff like this then grab your space hopper and bounce on over to the PATM discord as I always value external input when figuring out my own direction on things.
In this episode I speak to Kelly who talks to use about DnD, about character creation, evolution, and representation on the tabletop. This is another show I recorded ages ago, sorry to Kelly for how long it took to come out, it bears no reflection on my enjoyment of the conversation.
Hello and welcome to episode 210 of the paint all the minis paint ramble podcast.
The show where we strip everything back and just have a relaxed chat with someone who’s as into the hobby as you are,
In this episode I speak to Nick Komarev a normal hobby man just like you and me. We talk about his hobby journey and his love of Star Wars Armada.
I’m releasing this now as he just posted about his vasectomy on our discord, so I thought he can listen to this whilst his nads get better. Put some ice on them Nick and all will be well.
I talk with Jon Harrington about planning and prepping for the Paint All The Minis stand at Salute 2021, how the pandemic forced us to create PATMOCON, and our general level of excitement for exhibiting at a convention in person.
In this episode I speak to Andy, aka the beard, aka The Beardclipper of the beard clipper YouTube channel. Its a YouTube channel that genuinely reflects one man’s journey into and through this amazing hobby. The best chats I have are always with people of genuine care and passion and Andy is certainly one.
The intro is brief as I wont lie, this episode has been sitting in the podbank for aeons and its about time it has its 10 minutes in the sun, I must apologies profusely to Andy for not releasing sooner, it is no reflection of my thoughts on his episode, I just stepped away at the time it was due to be released.
I hope you enjoy!
Heyyyyy,
It's been too long, you bunch of Mother'lickers!!
Matt hit me up to have a chat on his show about our hobby time, how we find it, when should we hobby, and how much. Thanks to Matt for the invite plus also suggesting we could put it up on our regular stream too. You can find his podcast here:
https://bedroombattlefields.com/tmhpodcast/seasonal-hobbying-passion/
If you want so save yourself some time then: Find the time as you can, make yourself do it, unless that harms you, in which case dont do it, but dont then moan! haha, but ultimately just do what you want.
Oh, I also have a bit of a vent on content production, whilst also being incredibly respectful of how hard it is to create content and also who am I to poo poo it!
Enjoy, hope to be back chatting more in the future, I miss you all, but not you...you I dont miss.
Dan.xxx
In this episode, I talk to Michael from Oathsworn Minis about Burrows & Badgers, Sensible shoes, and some old dwarves and ponies. We also discuss the July PaTM themed painting challenge and announce a winner!
Keep Paintin'!
In this slight departure from the normal programming, Peter talks to Eric and Chris from Polyglot Studios about their current epic Kickstarter 'miniatures' project, Cthulhu Rises. Summon the beasts from the deep and get some insight into launching a project like this...
In this episode I speak with Tom Greenway of Goblin King games about his upcoming Kickstarter campaign to expand Moonstone. Lucky, then, that it’s been Moonstone May all month on the Paint all the Minis Facebook group!
Come and see what all the fuss is about at facebook.com/paintalltheminis
In this episode I speak to Foust the creator of VFI a company that works with games creators and publishers to make Asia and other places around the world more accessible for their games. In kickstarters especially it is sometimes a drag to get the games you want because of shipping costs, customs paperwork, and taxes. Foust is working to alleviate a lot of these issues and allow more people to play more games for less money, a modern day super hero!!!
We have the usual chat about hobby and background along with insight into what he does, why, and how. It was a pleasure speaking to him and getting to know him, just today infact I received a new unmatched expansion and some Stormcrow Dervishes for A Song of Ice and Fire, thanks! I hope you enjoy the show.
In this episode I speak to Brian of the Weird World War II YouTube channel. Brian is a big fan of what he refers to as ‘Free Range Gaming’, which is in essence making the game fit you instead of you fitting to the game. It is a refreshing concept and his whole demeanour is one of positivity and experimentation. If you havent checked out Weird World War II as a YouTube channel then do so if you listen to Brian and appreciate his ethos. We have the usual ramble around the hobby and it was a fun chat, we both hope you enjoy.
I pressed record on our discord server and you can listen to what comes out. Raw and unedited!

In this episode I speak to Zachary Quacks (not his real name) about all of the reasons why he loves the boardgames Shadows of Brimstone. I always love a why I love podcast and this one is no different. Dont feel there is any need to over egg the pudding soooo….let hear what he has to say!
In this episode I speak to Mike Hutchinson the author of the immensely popular Gaslands vehicular combat racing game and also, release over the last week, A Billion Suns. I wont talk too much about it here, as we do this in the show. But if it sounds interesting to you then great, if not then, hey no drama, its just fun talking to Mike about stuff and things.
I must take some time to thank Mike for appearing on the show once more, it was a fun chat.
Hey,
And now for something completely different....
Peter brings you a little creative ep 200.
See you in Feb!
In this episode I speak to Paul Beccarelli aka Beccas about his personal hobby journey and a little about his Youtube channel.
I’m not sure how I first heard about Paul but at every interaction he has shown himself to be a positive and caring member of the world hobby community. I enjoyed finally getting the opportunity to talk to him about his journey from humble beginnings in Bull Bollock Australia to where he now lives in Perth.
In the chat Paul and I discuss a number of topics on our meandering chat, I hope you enjoy it, the chat was recorded with a live audience on our Discord channel and we rolled right over into a live post ramble ramble, so stick around for that if you’d like.
This episode I have a second chat with Pete The Wargamer. Pete is probably my favorite YouTube video content producer, I just love his style, his method, and his content in general. Plus he is a fun and interesting guy to boot. We talked back in ep 31 so if you want a bit more of an introduction to him and his channel then you can go and listen to that first. In this episode we delve a bit deeper into his craft, his evolution, and peripheral bonuses that have come his way, plus also a chin wag about a great many other things.
As ever I am thankful for the opportunity to have spoken to Pete and I hope you enjoy the show.
This episode I speak again to Thibaud de la Touanne of Triton Noir. Triton Noir produce the excellent V Commandos game, the upcoming Assassins Creed: Brotherhood of Venice….AAAAAAANDD the upcoming V Commandos deluxe edition coming in the first half of 2021. I spoke to Thibaud back on episode 128 where we talked about his personal history plus a little of V Commandos and Assassins Creed. This time we catch up with what has changed for him over the last year along with developments in Assassins Creed and finish up with some details about the nw 3d and gameplay elements being added to V Commandos.
We also take some time to chat about inspirations and ethos when it comes to games design, I always enjoy those parts of the chats most. So if you are here to listen to juicy details about a new Kickstarter then PATM is probably never for you. Its about the stories and backgrounds of these things. Loads of people would do a much better job than me talking about the campaign.
I must thank Thibaud for taking some time to talk to me about himself and his company, it is always a pleasurable experience.
This episode I speak to yet another fellow nerd in the form of Matthew Kozikowski. A while ago Matthew was a founder member of Dark Omen, and a podcast called Forgot to Feat. Matthew and I talk banana bets, clam chowder, nut meggers, along with his hobby journey, his family life, and how he is more and more drawn to both mini agnostic games, and dead games which are no longer supported by their founding companies, such as GW’s Warmaster game.
It was a pleasure speaking to Matthew and getting to know him and there are certainly other podcasts to come to you from him, I look forward to them. I hope you enjoy the chat….
This episode I speak to Hubert, a native of Poland and a member of our PATM discord server. I am going to keep it very short and sweet this week as the charm of this episode was simply getting to know him, his opinions, his history, and other peripheral parts of him as a person and how he fits into our hobby.
It was great talking to, and getting to know him.
This episode I talk to Forrest Harris about his personal history and story, plus also his miniature company Knuckleduster. Getting to know Forrest was a great experience for me, finding out about him and the reasons behind Knuckleduster along with a little bit about his research process and sculpting ethos. Knuckleduster are probably most renowned for their wild west range of miniatures, their game Gunfighters Ball, and their upcoming board game Gunfight Royale which is coming to Kickstarter in January.
I have mentioned it a few times but western games are getting harder to ignore, there are at least 3 rule sets that I want to get in on right now and there are some great terrain sets out there too, maybe in the new year it will be a new project for 2021. Knuckleduster will be top of the list for minis.
Thanks to Forrest for coming onto the show and also being a founder member of PATMOCON that we hosted in April 2020. Forrest and Knuckleduster had a virtual booth and one of the highlights for me personally was the guided tour of their operation with a view into their workshop and casting process, something we just wouldn’t usually have a chance to see at all, pretty special.
I hope you enjoy the show an it is another great insight into a brilliant personality involved in our hobby.
This episode is one that has been kicking about in the PATM vault for a few months as I have waited for the project to show up on Kickstarter. I chatted with Luke, the creator of Upzone. Upzone is a range of car pop up terrain for tabletop wargaming. I dont know how I saw it, but I did and I was instantly interested in the story and genesis of it. Make sure you check out the link even just to appreciate the idea and invention of it.
I really enjoyed getting to know Luke, as mentioned we talked a good while ago and a lot has changed for him, partnering with a publisher was a big step, and as I record the KS campaign is into the 200,000+ dollars bracket. A real success story for a gent who just did something productive during his COVID lockdown time. Awesome.

This episode I speak to Scott Pyle, the brains behind 4 color studio. Scott has created a number of games, most of which hang off his Goal System set of rules which share common themes. Super heroes, to Sci Fi, to Fantasy Dungeon Delves, there seems to be something there for everyone. We take time in the show to chew the fat about his ethos, games, and intent. PATM and Scott seem to share the same ethos in terms of the things we do and how we like to interact with the hobby, Scott is very candid about the fact that he enjoys the challenge of creating the rule sets and jus having them go out into the wild to do their own thing. No murky or shadowy marketing techniques which is refreshing. A term ‘the empty can rattles the loudest’ comes into my brain more and more via kickstarter and new games in our hobby and it is refreshing to see the polar opposite here, a classy gent allowing his games to speak for themselves. Having said that, and I mention it in the show, could his games have a stronger audience? More on that in a moment. It was great to talk to Scott I really enjoyed our ramble chat, especially the 80’s references, I am sure I speak for all of us when I thank him for his time.
Right! Back to the bigger audience thing. If you are a patron then head over to four-colorstudio.com and check out Scott’s games. If any tickle your fancy then PM me, preferably on discord and I will get the rule set out to you. This way you get a kick back in the form of some rules you want to play, Scott gets a grande caramel macchiato on us also, so its win win. If you aren’t a patron but want to check not only this out but a bunch more other things then meander on over to patreon.com/paintalltheminis and find out all the ways we try to make your hobby deeper, more fun, and to fulfill you a little more one terrible joke and sauce reference at a time.
This episode I speak to David Thompson a second time. I spoke to David about himself and also Sniper Elite, the hidden movement game back in episode 181 and I asked him to come back onto the show and we have a chin wag about the things that he feels make a good game. Its a wide ranging chat from nicknames, to game length, to intent, card mechanics, I even get a couple of sauce references in there too.
I have enjoyed the two chats with David thus far, I really seem to click with his ethos and how he decides to create his games. We also talk a little about his new game Dire Alliance. Dire Alliance seems a little like the game the Avengers would make. David is one of 4 designers, the game has 2 game modes, it has card tokens, or you can upgrade to an edition that has plastic minis. Also it seems to have a lot in common with games David has designed previously so I am super excited to see it, plus the addition of minis adds a whole new level of interest. Dire Alliance is a gothic/victorian horror game with vampires, witch hunters etc etc, I am sure you know the trope. But it is a genre I havent painted much of so I am excited to get involved with it. You can check out the link in the description if you feel you may like it. Base core pledge is fiddy bucks, double if you want to add the 70+ plastic minis. Its superb that they offer the sans minis version, I think that is a great shout.
Check out Dire Alliance here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/blacklistgames/dire-alliance-horror?ref=android_project_share
Talking of David, we have just started our War Chest league on our discord server, a weekly fun league where we wlll battle it out each week until it is apparent who is alpha nerd, David is also a pretty regular participant on our server and he is pretty cool to hang out with so if you want to talk to these great people who make games we love then come on over, patreon.com/paintalltheminis
This episode I speak once again to Mike Tuñez of Firelock Games. Firelock Games are most renowned for their historical skirmish games set in the 1600-1700’s, thats the age of privateers, pirates, and freebooters to you and me. As this show is live Firelock are in the midst of a new Kickstarter campaign designed to produce a giant section of all their minis in plastic. I am a huge plastic fan, mostly due to the weight, ease of transport, the forgiving nature when you drop it, but also the customization that can occur between models within ranges. I also love the new plastic ships Firelock are beginning to produce. You can grab a 28mm plastic Sloop in this campaign, I have signed up for 3. I cant think of any other plastic minis in this genre on the market right now, or indeed a plastic Sloop of this scale so I am super excited, and not just about that but also because Mike and Firelock are superb people and they deserve every success.
As you know, the show isnt a sales pitch, Mike and I discuss beard maintenance, the broad range of products offered by Firelock, how difficult it must have been living in that era, an a whole bunch of other things as they occur.
If Firelock’s current campaign does appeal to you or to someone you know then check it out, its a great way to support great people and get yourself some cool hobby/gaming challenges too.
https://www.kickstarter.com/discover/advanced?ref=nav_search&term=firelock%20games%20
This episode I speak to a stalwart member of the PATM team and discord server, Mal. Mal is a huge positive presence in our discord community and consistently gives to our group, inspiring and empowering as he goes. We shared an hour and a bit of our time together and talked a lot about people. Our hobby involved, and therefore revolves around people and what they choose to do, not do, and how they conduct themselves. We have a wide ranging chat from RPG’s to Co op games, a sprinkling of competitive games, and a whole bunch of other stuff in-between, there is even some terrible dad jokes in there too.
This was recorded directly form our discord server Sunday night paint hang out, and we roll into a live post ramble ramble with the group that were able to listen in live and we have a chat about technological advances we may see in our hobby in the not too distant future, its all pap by the way so dont expect to actually see an of these things.
patreon.com/paintalltheminis
This episode I speak to Richard of Folded Space. Folded space create a range of storage and game organization aids for board games, a number of which contain minis. I personally bought their Mansions of Madness insert recently and it has been fantastic. It was cheaper & lighter than other inserts I had seen. This makes shipping cheaper and also. Plus it was pretty logical to put together and because of the material used it doesnt add much to the weight of the box. The only unknown would be long term durability but after a good few plays of the game it all looks secure and sturdy and I am confident it will stand the test of time.
Richard moved to Sofia Bulgaria in 1998, he did lots of other things before stating Folded Space and from a personal point of view it was not just interesting learning about his business but also about his journey that has taken him to this point. I have been in Sofia for over 2 months now so was interesting to hear his insight.
This episode I speak to the awesome Dan Warner, a nerd just like us who is also a big presence in the background of PATM. Dan has a set of twins under one years old and se we naturally talk about how your hobby takes a bit of a back seat when being a dad, and also in lots of other settings no doubt, its not limited to parenting. But yeah, we talk about his journey, his ideas around online content and what it should be, plus also his likes/dislikes.
It was fun getting to know Dan some more, it is another podcast recorded live on our Discord channel, you could have listened in live, and some people did, plus we also have a live post ramble ramble, so if you enjoy the show and A: want to be on it, B: want to listen in live, C: want to be directly involved in a post ramble ramble then hit up patreon.com/paintalltheminis.
This episode I talk to Ben Galbraith of Blacksite Studio. Blacksite Studio produce pre painted laser cut MDF terrain for a number of tabletop war-game genres, from modern to historical & fantasy. Recently Ben and Connor pushed into model design in a line of sci fi resin minis, and even more recently they decided to put together the whole Jean Luc Package and give us a terrain, minis, rule set experience in the form of Dont Look Back, a horror film inspired cooperative skirmish game.
First and foremost it was great talking to Ben, again, I say it a lot but, I found him to be an open, honest, and engaging individual who I felt I could ask literally any question to and he would have given us his take on it. We have a wide ranging chat from Texas BBQ, where the chat opens, to Innovation, moral intent as a company, and the current state of the industry in regards to crowdfunding and its both positive and potentially possibly negative effects.
Secondly and finally if you havent heard of or check out Blacksite Studio then I encourage you to do so. Its not for everyone and it isnt a whim purchase, as I mention in the show but if you agree with Ben that you want great terrain to fit into a number of games you have and play, or want to play, then give it your consideration. I bought the Sundered Empire kit way back in April and it fills my Fantasy skirmish needs to a Tee. It gives hefty 2x2 but can easily scale up to 3x3 or 4x4. I love the terrain, the quality, and also…Fantasy skirmish terrain, thats that now, with a little flavor change from different scatter or pieces I pick up in the future I can continue to make it diverse and interesting.
You can check out Dont Look Back and other BSS stuff here:
https://blacksitestudio.com
I hope you enjoy getting to know Ben, as I did, and that you enjoy the show.
This episode I talk once again to Alex Davy, the creator of, amongst lots of other notable things, the Star Wars Legion tabletop battle game, published by Fantasy Flight. I really enjoy both talking to Alex and Star Wars Legion. The word that I use in this show is fresh. Star Wars Legion to me is a fresh look at tabletop battle from what I had seen and played previously. I enjoy its innovations and quirks.
Alex is an engaging and interesting person, from his cooking of Ukrainian Borscht, to misplacing game prototypes to, you know, just being a great guy, its always fun to talk to him. I hope you enjoy the show and for me, if someone asked what the show is, I’d make them listen to this one. I’m still unsure about how to define it and what it is but if the show smells of something, its this, if it looks like something, its this, whatever the show is, for me it is this. Thanks to Alex for taking some time out to talk to me and making some noises that I could record.

You can also check out our the you tube channel & the website, you can email paintalltheminis@gmail.com with any Q’s you may have
This episode was the first ever fully live, with live guest and also people listening into the stream live. We spoke during the Paint All The Minis Sunday evening hangout. I chat to Ravis and we go podcast old school and reprise the questions from the original 10 podcasts I recorded way back when. We also go right over to a fully live post ramble ramble with not only Ravis but also some of the people listening live at the time.
It was great to get to know Ravis a little more, hear his story, and capture som of the chat that usually goes on on a Sunday anyway but now you can listen too, if you weren’t there, or have forgotten!!!
Dont for get if you are a patron you can not only listen in to any more we do, which we will, but even better you have first dibs on being the actual guest!
patreon.com/paintalltheminis
This episode I have a hugely enjoyable chat with Mr Brent Spivey. Brent doesnt get anywhere near as much credit as he should. We had a chat to Dewi Clough in ep173 where he tonked the enthusiasm bongos for one of Brent’s games, Mayhem. Dewi’s enthusiasm made me want to reach out to Brent and I am so glad I did, he was such a welcoming and enthusiastic guy. We waffle on about a wide range of things from reality TV, his games, creator royalties, and lots of other thing in between.
One of the major points which come up in the show is the amount of mini agnostic rule sets being put out by talented and passionate people. For ten to fifteen bucks you can pick up a rule set, you probably already have enough minis, and get playing.
Just think, in your fridge you have a huge packet of ham, and a giant baguette, sometimes you dont need more ham or bread, some times a nice wee mustard or relish is what you need to make your meal different and tasty. Have a look at some of these independent and self produced rule sets, the enthusiasm, passion, and talent on show is amazing.
I hope you enjoy the show.
In this episode I speak to Guy who is the editor of the War-games, Soldiers, and Strategy magazine. WSS, as it is often called, is a bi monthly magazine thats focuses on historical tabletop games and how to play them, and not just historical content and settings you can get from other sources. Throughout August WSS run their Great Wargaming Survey where they ask the community what they have been up to over the last year. You can find a link to it here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T5H2LVP
Its interesting to see how typical you are in the hobby and what others have been up to.
It was fun not just talking about this but also finding out more about Guy, his journey, and any interesting stories that pop up along the way.
This episode I get my fan boy hat on and talk to a game designer who I have a great deal of excitement towards, Mr David Thompson. David designed two of the games that I have been setting about with reckless abandon over the last 5 or 6 months, Undaunted Normandy and Undaunted North Africa both WW2 skirmish games with deck management aspects. Although they dont contain minis out the box, conversion projects are easy and the game play is brilliant, in my opinion of course, and so it was great to talk to David about……Not undaunted. Undaunted deserves its own stand alone podcast which will come later but in this show I spoke to him about his personal journey and experience along with his current Kickstarter Campaign for his game Sniper Elite. I wont spoil the show by talking about all the details but in a nutshell it is a WW2 hidden movement espionage game where a sniper is sneaking about trying to evade the patrolling guards.
You can find out more about it here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rebellionunplugged/sniper-elite-the-board-game
It was fun talking to David and it was great to find him to be a really nice guy and a person I’d love to talk more to about his ethos, ideas, and insight. We talk about some of his design influences in the show and he comes across as accomplished and strong willed, an example of this we didnt talk about during the show but a very active decision on his part to include a wide variety of ethnicities on the US forces artwork on Undaunted Normandy, something that didnt necessarily reflect the abstract unit mention in the game but certainly noted the sacrifice from a number of ethnic groups during that conflict. Strong positive decision making there in my opinion and not one to be overlooked.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the show, and if you like the sound of the Sniper Elite game then go check it out, I am a giddy kipper in anticipation of it and cant wait for the cat and mouse experience with my fellow nerds.
This episode I catch up with Joe McCullough and we talk through the reasoning behind and the tweaks involved in Frostgrave 2nd Edition. Frostgrave was one of my first delves into narrative wargaming once I began to branch out from Warhammer 40k. I found the stories that could be created, the time I spent thinking up narrative, and the memories of the games to be a massive benefit to the hobby for me personally, that gave the hobby so much more depth. I really enjoyed using the framework created by Joe to put my own spin on things and I mention during the show that I feel Frostgrave is a vehicle for me to create great experiences. It came at a time when I was looking for this exact sort of experience, I just didnt know it, the only thing I knew was that I didnt really get a good feeling from competitive wargaming, Frostgrave took me by the hand and led me out of the initial antechamber of the hobby to where I am now, and I cant thank it or Joe enough.
I always enjoy talking to Joe, we open with his roast dinner strategy and then delve into the nuts and bolts of the new edition which is you are a crafty old veteran of Frostgrave or a new apprentice it should give you an insight into the world, the rules, and the structure, I hope you enjoy the show.
This episode I speak to Rob Saunders about his eclectic hobby and work life. Rob is a jack of many trades working in a board game cafe, being a stand up comedian, member of bands, and also the purveyor of podcast treats in the form of the men with two brains & death nerve podcast (about horror movies).
We sit and chat about his personal journey into the hobby and his life decision to chase things he loves. We also talk about our shared love of narrative and story creation on the tabletop, amongst a good few other areas. Rob is someone I find myself talking to on a regular basis just because he is a great guy and has a positive attitude to the things he does, twas a fantastic chat with a really great person, I hope you enjoy it.
In this episode I speak to Charlotte who is not only a big fan of the hobby like you and me, but she also works for Steam Forged Games as part of their PR team. I wanted to talk to her for a number of reasons and in the show we talk about her own hobby background, gender portrayal, and also a little about the world of PR and how she goes about her job on a day to day basis.
It was a fun chat and I thank Charlotte for coming onto the show, I hope you enjoy it too.
In this episode I speak to Dave Taylor who has completed more projects in the hobby industry than we’ve had hot dinners! This is a marathon podcast clocking in at over 2 hours and thats simply down to the diverse and interesting journey that Dave has been on during his hobby life time. From discovering the hobby, to working within it, to moving countries because of it Dave has had an amazing ride so far and it was a pleasure to ramble about it for a while.
Dave is possibly a peripheral figure for us schmo’s that engage in the hobby from our side but internally he is a big driving force that connects cool people doing interesting things with us as the hobby nerds. I always find it tough personally when I like something and want to mention it as the term ‘influencer’ or whatever has an association that I want to avoid like COVID-19 but I feel Dave does a great job of making us aware of things without slapping us round the chops with it.
It was fun talking to Dave and he is someone I have the utmost regard and respect for because of he is demeanour, openness, and the intent of his operation. I hope you enjoy the show.
In this episode I speak to Colin of Battle Systems. Battle Systems are a company who produce high quality card terrain along with the brilliant Core Space 28mm sci fi skirmish game. Core space is a wham bam, one game in a can game with all you need including all of the high quality card terrain AND a neoprene mat too. Its a really good game in my opinion and one I love to play.
It was fun talking to Colin and his passion, enthusiasm, and drive for what he does shines through in the chat, he’s a great guy making great things and I hope you enjoy the show.
This episode Carl T and I talk about some wee updates to his Contact Front rule set and also ALL of the reasons why we love Richard Borg's amazing game Memoir 44.
This episode I speak once again to Joe Veltre of Gods Eye Games and we talk about his upcoming western skirmish game Gunslingers Paradise. Joe needs no introduction, he’s a jabroni that I dont seem able to shake off so when I feel I need a charity photo call to stay fresh and stay down with the hillbilly community then its always good to have Joe on. I hope you enjoy the chat we have, its always fun talking with Joe.
Gods Eye Games: https://godseyegames.com
Hey!
This week Hendrik M is a guest pre/post ramble leader!
It was great to hear him strut his stuff on the ramble!
In the show Dewi talks about all the of the reasons why he loves the 6mm fantasy battle game Mayhem by Brent Spivey.
I hope you enjoy the show!
This episode I speak to Chris Birch of Modiphius Entertainment. Modiphius are best known to me for their Fallout and Elder Scrolls skirmish games. They have taken two brilliant video game IP’s and turned them into tabletop skirmish games. Fallout works with resin minis but The Elder Scrolls games has introduced a line of plastic fantasy minis which although I found a little fiddly to put together, now I have constructed and primed will make excellent additions to my fantasy skirmish collection.
I really enjoyed talking to Chris and I encourage you to take a wander over to Modiphius’ website, especially if you like RPG’s and even more so if you like the Elder Scrolls and or Fallout. Games aside Chris was a superb guest and I was really interested talking to him, I hope you enjoy the noises we both made that I captured.
Hey All,
Zach 'Ken Tucky' Tackett takes over the pre/post ramble ramble this week, I enjoyed seeing where he took it, thanks Zach I hope you enjoyed the experience.
In the show Wee Matty and I talk about our thoughts on the following video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VTsIju1dLI&t=662s
We talk about how it may relate to our hobby and especially with sharing on social media. We aren't qualified to coherently talk about this, it is just our ideas/thoughts/suggestions and how it occurs to us as it occurs to us.
I always love a chat with Matt!!!
This episode I speak to Mr Lon Weiss of Brigade Games. Brigade games offer a wide variety of minis both from their own commissioned ranges to other notable companies in one place. There is a heavy focus on the Black Powder era and they have a current kickstarter campaign to fund a French Indian War range of models sculpted by the talented Mr Paul Hick’s who PATM are fortunate to count as a friend of the show. The current KS does end on June 7 2020, which is 2 days from the release date but as with all the shows I dont consider them to be timestamped by the content or just a sales platform. Lon and I have a wide ranging chat from his regular day job, into how Brigade Games came into being with brief forays into other areas.
It was a pleasure to talk to Lon and he comes across as a highly experienced person in the hobby industry, it was fun picking his brain for an hour and a bit, I hope you enjoy the show.

This episode I speak to Jens of Tabletop Generals. Tabletop Generals is a YouTube channel which is charting the course of World War 2 from very beginning to very end via bat reps and hobby content. It was a pleasure speaking to Jens and I had fun reliving my silly German sayings, along with some very deep conversation about the Waffen SS from his German point of view. I need to mention it here in the intro and I dont want it to potentially offend anyone, so if you dont want to hear about our opinions on man’s potential to do not very nice things to others then this might be a show to miss. It is my opinion that anyone is capable of doing anything, either amazing or terrible, depending on the circumstances and situation. I am not condoning war crime, or any crime of any sort, or celebrating it, I dont even think anything we talk about is controversial in anyway, but I just thought I’d mention it here. It is my own and Jen’s unqualified opinions on it at this point in time…Whew! I made that seem a lot more serious than what it is, but there you go.
It was pleasure talking to Jens and I hope you enjoy the show!
This episode I speak to Mr Restless Kaiser of Modelling for Advantage. Modeling for Advantage is a Youtube Channel putting together battle reports for various games along with other content for our viewing pleasure from a number of different people. I enjoy the level of banter and hijiinx that goes on during their games, I always have a chuckle watching it and I’d heartily recommend you having a look see.
The audio was a little dodgy as you will hear but its good enough for the chat and to understand. In a perfect world we’d have a plush studio and I’d helicopter the guests in, they’d land on the roof and be ushered into some private quarters to relax in a hot tub before the show, but we dont live in a perfect world, so unfortunately we have to get what we are dealt.
I had great fun talking to Restless Kaiser and I hope you enjoy the chat.

This episode we have a genuine RAMBLE!!!! Joe Mc and I have a wide ranging conversation about our experience of and the dichotomy that is Kickstarter.
I like and dislike kickstarter in equal measure and this very much comes through in the chat. Its amazing and terrible and amazingly terrible, and terribly amazing. I struggle with podcasts like this and I have been sat on it for a month because I dont want to poo poo anything that anyone does in the industry I have no right, but equally these things effect us, they effect me, and making sense of them helps me to game sustainably.
I havent arrived at my set view point yet, I dont apologize for the loose ends that remain dangling at the close of this episode. This podcast is very much the sort of conversation I have anyway, there just usually isnt a microphone there to capture it. I hope you enjoy it.
This episode I speak once again to James Baldwin of The Drowned Earth. If you want to know about him, his history in general you can delve into the archive and pick up episode 9 and episode 17 plus a smattering of other appearances here and there.
You should know by now that we aren’t a ‘here and now’ podcast that is here to sell you stuff. We always try to make sure that the show is an interesting insight into the hobby we all enjoy and it was another interesting chat with James about ethos, feelings, and motivations. The Drowned Earth DO INDEED have a current Kickstarter campaign with focuses on a stand alone solo/co op game set in The Drowned Earth universe. If you like the sound of it then use the link in the description and have a look see.
From my point of view James stands with a lot of the main ethos of what I’d like PATM to be. He is a passionate, energetic, and positive person creating something engaging that he believes in and it is a pleasure to talk to him about it, its always an interesting chat. The buy in is quite low too, only 40 GBP for the lowest option with card standies so fits in with your ‘keep the painting pile manageable’ strategy.
I hope you all enjoy the chat.
Ulaya Chronicles: Cooperative Wargame:

This episode I speak to Mat Hart the co founder of Steam Forged Games, we were very humbled when Steamforged decided to attend the recent PATMOCON event, our online convention and that was my first experience of talking to anyone from there. I have really enjoyed every conversation I have had with Mat he comes across as an interesting and straight forward chap, with a great insight into the industry and how he puts together games. It was fun getting to know him more and finding out a little more about his ethos when it comes to making games. The Resident Evil 3 Kickstarter campaign is currently ongoing so you can check it out in the link in the description if you are so inclined, the aspect of choices affecting the environment around you is something that jumped out to me, along with the survival horror/never having enough time/resources to do what you want components. I wish both Mat and Steamforged all the best in the future. It is a company that is on my front door step in terms of UK geography and I feel the hobby world is better with them in it and hope to speak to them again soon.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/steamforged/resident-evil-3-the-board-game?ref=discovery&term=Resident%20evil%203
I must apologize for the change in audio mid way through the show, my headphones gave out and so on Mat’s vocal there is a slight echo. I didn’t have time to work it out but I believe we can work through it doesnt take too much away from the convo. I am away from my regular podcast set up because of COVID and I’m doing the best with what I can.
This episode I speak to Mr Paul Hicks an outstanding sculptor of miniatures. We have a general chat about him and what he has been up to since we last spoke on episode 90, and also both the previous and upcoming Baron’s War kickstarter campaigns he is working on with Andy Hobday of Footsore Miniatures. I always enjoy talking to Paul, traditional sculpting seems to be going by the wayside in favor of Z brush and electronic sculpting but I for one would hate the art and the discipline to die out, it was a shame Salute was cancelled this year as Paul was going to be there with PATM doing a number of sculpt along classes, next year we hope it will become a reality.
If Baron's War interested you then check out the link here:

This episode Josh B and I have a bit of chattage about the Paint All The Minis Online Convention, or PATMOCON 2020 as it is. What we hope to do with this podcast is share with you the key information about the event so you can see if it is for you or not.
Before I say anything else about anything its important to note that the world is crazy right now, things we are usually able to rely on are pretty much wholesale removed from our routines, I hope you are all safe, well, and remaining sensible in your actions and intent.
PATMOCON came about to offer positivity in the face of that negativity. We want to give these totally understandable and logical social restrictions a kick up the arse and show the things that can be achieved if people come together and not allow a dearth of hope to swallow us.
It is my personal belief that some people need this now, we need something like PATMOCON, to look for ward to, to enjoy, and to engage with.
We need you, we need you to start reaching out to your guys and gals you interact with in the hobby, dont just brush it off and think someone else is going to. We are a community, all our actions make our community stronger, more positive, and more engaging. So copy the link and fire it at a buddy. The worst they can do is think about it and decline, and if so then it will remain an option they could have chosen at a time when those options are scarce.
The industry needs us too! Think about the financial uncertainly every single company is now under. From the biggest to the smallest. I for one want them to be there when this is all done and dusted, they have brought us amazing games and content to interact with, I dont want them to have to go and get a job which would prevent them from chasing their dreams.
We cant do this without you, and if ever there was a time to back YOUR community, then its now.

Hey,
Been some new developments with the online convention, most notably the name, so have a listen and see who's confirmed!
I hope that you guys are pumped to attend and that you will feel it is something to look forward to in the coming weeks.
Hey!
Here is the TLDL (Too Long Didn't Listen) version of the PATM Online Con announcement and info as of March 15 2020
Hey,
PATM are having a convention to assuage all the negativity of travel/mass gathering bans which have cancelled the conventions in 2020. We also want to give people who may not have experienced a convention before the opportunity to share in the magical experience.
Here you can listen to my thoughts, reasons, and intent for the PATM Online Con and we can all see how it turns out as we get closer to April 11th & 12th.
This episode I talk to Matthew McLean of Bedroom Battlefields, a hobby blog chronicling an average Joe’s return to the hobby after the seemingly natural nerd hiatus from leaving school to late twenty something. I find Matthew to be a very interesting individual who doesnt toot his own horn enough. The amount of interesting things he has done quickly stacks up and we didn’t get a chance to talk about a number of them, we need a subsequent chat I think.

This episode marks pretty much 3 years of podcasting shenanigans and hijinx, it has been a fun journey so far. 161 fun episodes with a massive assortment of guests from interesting backgrounds has been a rip-roaring ride and it has been great to share in the awesome stories. Thanks to everyone who has been listening in whether this is your first episode or your 161st, we’ve come a long way and it has been a pleasure to spend my time with you all.
Fate has decreed that the 3 year anniversary episode is an episode of special import, I speak to Mr Duncan Rhodes who has been possible the most recognizable face in our hobby over the last 5 years. Certainly since I began the hobby just under 5 years ago. Duncan’s positive demeanour, chipper attitude, and cut the bullcrap approach to painting tutorials whilst part of Games Workshop have been a great help to hundreds of thousands of hobbyists all around the world. In the show Duncan and I have the usual Paint All The Minis ramble, covering a wide variety of areas, it was a pleasure to speak to him and I hope you enjoy the chat.
This episode I speak once again to Travis Hiett, an integral member of the PATM family and also creator of the Tabletop CP YouTube channel. We have a ‘why I love’ podcast and he talks about all of the reasons why he loves Chain of Command, the WW2 game from Too Fat Lardies.
I always love talking to Travis, and I also always enjoy the why I love podcasts, so this was a double treat, we hope you enjoy!
This episode I speak to Mr Tom Gilbert who is driving the wargaming scene in China. As always we talk about his personal history and journey plus also how that is driving his current crusade of creating a tournament scene here in mainland China.
It was great talking to Tom and from a personal point of view it has been great getting to know him more and hearing his insight into gaming in such a big but underdeveloped country in terms of tabletop gaming. It was interesting to hear his point of view that echos my own experience that people love games here, but just not tabletop war games. Super interesting and also exciting to see what develops over the next few years. It is people like Tom that are changing this trend and it was amazing to spend an hour with him.
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey,
Merry Christmas if you celebrate this sort of thing. This is the PATM Christmas Special episode so waddle on over to your hobby table and chow down on some painting as opposed to all that turkey!
Mr Fish and I have a little Christmas quiz followed by another ramble into the hobby from our perspective, value.
Here is the original article I wrote, its just what came out when at Starbucks for an hour https://www.paintalltheminis.com/paint-all-the-minis-news/2018/10/14/value-in-the-hobby-how-do-you-find-it-does-it-matter
It was an exercise I did to try to find out how it stacked with other hobbies I do/had done, especially as a reaction to 'Oh those are really expensive'. I actually think this hobby is incredible value IF you game sustainably!
Anyway I hope you enjoy the show and your winter holidays.
Hey Hoooooo Christmas Ramblers!
This episode I chew the fat with Davie C about all the reasons why he loves Nemesis, the awesome board game including miniatures by Awaken Realms.
I hope you enjoy the show!
This episode I speak to Mr Dave Oliver who is not only an avid miniature enthusiast like you and me, but he also volunteers for an organization called Models for Heroes. As you will hear in the show we go through Dave’s personal history but we also ask why he decided to volunteer with this charity. Models for Heroes runs therapeutic sessions for forces veterans & emergency services personal in need of some activity that will allow them to redirect themselves into a more positive place.
I must thank Dave for coming onto the show and talking about this, it was fun not only to get to know him but also a little more about this charity. We mention it in the show but if your interest is piqued and you would like to find out more about Models for Heroes then you can follow the link https://www.modelsforheroes.co.uk.
I have also included a link to their recent video ‘piece by piece’ that you can watch to give yourself more of an idea of what they do and why. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYGoRUjBqU8&feature=emb_logo
I have nothing but the utmost respect for emergency and armed forces workers/veterans and I wanted to take time to thank them all for their service, I also want to thank people like Dave who volunteer to assist in programs such as this which really help people. Thoughts and prayers no doubt help in some way but action speaks far louder and it is people like Dave that make this all happen.
This episode I speak to Mr Gary K of Genesys Games. Gary ran a successful kickstarter recently for his game The Genesys Project.
During the show we talk about his history and experience in the hobby and also the 6 years of play testing and development that he has been partaking in! Amazing insight into how the games we play actually occur.
It was great talking to Gary and I wish him all the best in the future. If The Genesys Projects tickles your fancy then set about it and let us know how you get on.

Hey All,
Here is a little update on why there has been no new episode for 4 weeks and what will be happening moving forward.
Fret ye not! We are not going anywhere.
This week I speak to Leandros of Parabellum Wargames. Parabellum recently fully released their tabletop fantasy game Conquest, The Last Argument of Kings. I mention this throughout the show but one of the overriding features of this tabletop massed battle game is how developed it appears to be on its initial release. Also which is really refreshing is that they went straight to market and did not crowd fund. There is nothing wrong with crowd funding per say but it is refreshing to see a game eschew this and go through more traditional methods. Alessio Cavatore of River Horse is the chief rules writer and in a pretty competitive market there are enough things in the game to make it stand out.
We aren’t salesmen and we aren’t looking to influence you in either direction but if you like the sound of what you hear then you can head on over to parabellum.com and have a mooch around. I personally really enjoy their art work and the fact that Alessio created it makes me take note as I enjoy his sophistication through simplicity approach.
It was great spending an hour with Leandros and we wish both him and Parabellum all the best in the future. We hope you enjoy the show.

This is a special bonus episode for you guys because why not!
I speak to Caleb from Krakenships. Krakenships is a new company that seeks to fill gaps in fantasy RPG and skirmish model sets. If you are looking for non traditional models as you avatar for your RPG and skirmish games then Krakenships might just be for you. Turtle dudes, cat people, and non traditional wood elves came up in our chat as well as the opportunity to visit their website and request certain things. They are also on the last couple of days of their first kickstarter campaign as this comes out (October 13th) so if this sort of thing interests you then toddle over and have a look see.
It was really interesting talking to Caleb about his personal history and also his motivations. Krakenships seem s an interesting company that looks to provide things that might not currently on the market and that is always pretty cool. As with all shows it is the personal story that is the main concern and it was great to hear of a motivated guy not taking no for an answer and just doing stuff he loves and trying to make our hobby a better and more diverse place. All the best in the future Caleb,

This week is the 4th and final episode in our mini series where we go into greater depth in what we feel we mean with the term sustainable gaming. Remember this term was created to try to get to grips with the hobby more and to give us pause for thought in regard to what we get and what we want out of the hobby to make it the most enjoyable as possible.
If you remember we defined it as ‘enjoying the hobby and participating for the longest time possible, understanding what we like about the hobby and what we dont, controlling it and avoiding situations where it controls us’.
We have linked this definition to 3 key areas: Playing regularly, painting regularly, and not overbuying models & games. Plus we have also had a bit of a natter about how this hobby may positively or negatively effect our personal mental, physical, & social health.
This episode we delve a little deeper into playing regularly and also social health.
As I mention in the show I find this the most challenging as my physical and mental health I feel a lot more in control of. I must also at this point explain what I mean by the term 'superficial friend’. I use this term a lot in the show to explain the depth of friendship with certain people. After the show when I was editing I felt this might have a negative connotation, it isnt intended to. What I mean when I say superficial friend is that they are my friend, I enjoy their company but they aren’t the sort of friends that I would ask to help me move house, to be my best man, or share sensitive personal information with.
Secondly, my gaming buddy selection system may be a little creepy! I didn’t think it was odd but when I verbalized it, it seemed a bit weird. I dont know, you make your own mind up but I am always looking for new gaming buddies and dropping wee hints here and there and seeing what their reactions are.
This was the final chat with Mr Fish, I do hope to get him on again to chat abbot more stuff as I genuinely enjoy his attitude and his outlook. Many thanks to the Patrons who allowed me to send Mr Fish his copy of Bloodbowl that had been sitting in his amazon cart for months. We were able to send him that to say thanks for his time, and because of that I say thanks to you!
I am always incredibly reluctant to talk about our Patreon page as it doesnt go into Dan-o’s personal navel strength rum fund, all that money goes directly back to our community and allows us to say thanks to Ignatius in this way. If you are interested then check out patreon.com/paintalltheminis. If not then no drama.
Welcome to another Sustainable Gaming podcast where Mr Fish and I delve a little deeper into the concept. This week we focus on painting regularly and also how the hobby may positively or negatively effect our physical health.
Another great chat for me personally and I hope you take something from it also.
This episode I catch back up with Mr Fish as we delve a little deeper into sustainable gaming now we have set the scene in episode 1.
We look closer at the idea of not allowing ourselves to buy too much stuff and also how this hobby may positively or negatively effect our personal mental health.
If you want to chat and share your experience then please head over to the Paint All The Minis Facebook group.
We hope you enjoy the show!
This episode is the first of 4 episodes that will be released over the next month on the topic of sustainable gaming. Doing something in a sustainable fashion is something that I am incredibly interested in, along with why people do the things they do, plus also the external and internal pressures we put on ourselves in our personal and professional lives.
As I have got into the hobby as an adult I have both experienced personally and seen others gaming unsustainably. This could be over buying models that just sit there and are then sold, buying models to play games they will never play, or spending a lot of time berating themselves for not painting or playing when they want to.
I first talked about this in episode 95 & 96 of the show, so that might be a good listen before this one as you will have more of an idea of what I mean before we begin.
In these episodes we also pull in how the hobby may positively or negatively effect our personal health, the aspects of this being physical/social/mental. I personally believe that any part of our lives can affect our health and this hobby is no different. I personally try to make sure that the hobby is only affecting me in a positive way and these episodes are me and Mr Ignatius Fisher talking about what sustainable gaming is for us, in our experience.
A final couple of notes are that this is not trying to tell you what to do, if you love this hobby and it fulfills you then let no one dissuade you from it. We also dont claim to be experts or qualified to discuss this, so please dont take any thing we talk about as gospel or an idiots guide to happiness. It quickly becomes apparent that this subject area is incredibly deep.
We hope that by listening it gives you pause for thought, a few nuggets to reflect on. And possibly a few laughs.
On a personal note it was the first time I had verbalized a lot of thoughts and feelings and it really helped me to figure out what sustainable gaming means for me.
Please make sure you reach out to share thoughts, feelings, or things you do in the hobby.
I hope you enjoy the chat.
This episode I speak to Brent Amberger of the Goobertown Hobbies Youtube Channel. Goobertown Hobbies is a youtube channel I personally really enjoy as there is a lot of thought, depth, and insight included in the videos I have watched.
In an age of clickbait and also lots of videos/content that appears to have been put together to over promise and underdeliver I find Brent’s videos to be insightful and interesting. The way that he does his videos I appreciate, he never seems to be ‘selling’ anything, he just seems to be sharing his thoughts and his ethos, which is something Ii really enjoy.
It was great talking to Brent and it is yet another positive byproduct of this podcast for me personally that not only do I get to find channels like Brent’s but I also get to spend an hour chatting to him, it was a fun chat and I hope that you enjoy it too.
Sustainable Gaming!!!
Playing, Painting, Not overspending. Physical, Mental, Social Health.
Coming Sept 20 for an entire month our podcast will be given over to talking about this concept of making the hobby work for us.
‘Enjoying the hobby and participating in it for the longest time possible, understanding what it is we like about it & what we dont, controlling it, not allowing it to control us.’
It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Ignatius Fischer on over 8 hours of audio spread across 4 episode for you guys as we talk about and make sense on our terms of how the hobby affects us and the things we can do to make it work more for us.
It is essential to note that we are not experts, only people chatting about it from our experience and on our terms, also that it is not a set of rules. We hope that it could potentially be a catalyst for reflection to make sure that whatever you are doing is for you and possibly prompt some sort of thought.
It has personally really helped me to make sense of my hobby and allowed me to find ways to improve certain health aspects whilst participating in this hobby we all love.
This episode I talk to Mr Mark Latham a now freelance games designer and writer who has worked on or created a number of games we would have heard of such as The Walking Dead All Out War, The Harry Potter Miniatures Game, and The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms.
Mark also has a very interesting background working with Games Workshop and was clearly involved in shaping key elements that a great many people hold fondness for, I wont spoil the chat by mentioning them here but I am sure that it will be a waltz down memory lane for a lot of you.
It was great talking to Mark and I really enjoyed out chat, I hope you do to.
This episode I speak to Henry Hyde, a gent who has had a long and very interesting pathway in the hobby industry and has participated in a wide variety of roles and responsibilities. Working mostly in written media he has moved with the times and felt the changes in personal preference and technological advances. It was really fun speaking to Henry and I hope you enjoy the chat we had. If you haven’t heard of him before you can listen into the show where he talks about his Patreon activities and also his twitter account.
I hope you enjoy our chat, I wont spoil it by talking about any more of it here.
This episode I speak to Jonas Ekman in a Why I love podcast where he talks about all the reasons he loves Open Combat. I will let Jonas talk to you about the details and why he loves it so much but some headlines are that Open Combat straddles skirmish/RPG games and allows you to use any models you have whilst also allowing you to stat them in any way you’d like .
I really enjoy the Why I love podcasts and this one was no exception.
I hope you enjoy the chat.
We arent salesmen and we arent looking to influence you but if you like the sound of Open Combat you can find out more here: https://www.secondthunder.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1
This episode I speak to Mike Hutchinson the writer of Gaslands, the post apocalyptic game of vehicular combat and racing, and also the upcoming game A Billion Suns which comes in 2020.
I loved talking to Mike as his demeanour, candour, and insight makes for a great chat. Its obvious from our chat that he is a positive & hard working guy and there were so many threads I would have liked to chase down but alas time marched ever on and I could not ask all I wanted to. One key area that came up in our pre show and mid show chat was the idea of having a growth mindset, if you aren’t aware of what a growth mindset is then go and do some reading on it as it is something that I truly believe that can help in personal and professional situations. Carol Dweck is the person you need to look into.
Its something I dont claim to be perfect at, and Mike quite rightly pulls me up on some slack thoughts I put out there in regard to games but there is a common thread that pops up regularly on the show with people who have ‘done something’ in the hobby industry and that is their ability and craft are developed and honed with time and experience. Sounds simple and straight forward when you read of it but the execution is what separates people like Mike from other people who maybe have a great idea but just dont ever do anything with it.
I really do hope that I manage to get Mike back onto the show in the future as the hour literally flew by and it was a true pleasure.
This week I talk to Olly Gibson an average Joe just like you and me who enjoys the hobby but also has his YouTube channel Liberum Esse where he posts his thoughts. I will let Olly tell you what this means in due course.
The show was a run rambly chat as it should be and covers a wide variety of things. It was great speaking to him and it is people like Olly that have made, will make, and currently make my experience in this hobby a positive one.
I really subscribe to OIly’s ideas and the way he goes about things, very laid back, down to earth, and positive.
I hope you enjoy the show!
This week I talk once again to Alessio Cavatore of River Horse Games. I spoke to Alessio back in episode 51 so if you want more info on his personal history then go and check that out. In this episode we talk about what he has been up to since our last chat, we poke about the diverse set of games and activities he has been up to with some huge and well known IP’s, and we also talk about what he thinks makes a good game.
I am really enjoying revisiting previous podcast guests and asking them what they think makes a good game. Both Lardy Rich and Joseph McCollough have been on recently with their opinions and it has been so interesting to hear their opinions. From reenacting historical scenarios, to narratives, to sophistication though simplicity of rule set.
Its always fun talking to Alessio and I hope you enjoy the show!
This week I speak once again to Ronnie Renton of Mantic Games. We have a catch up on his BBQ technique, Dungeon Saga, The Walking Dead: Call to Arms skirmish game (an expansion to the All Out War narrative), along with Kings of War Vanguard & also the announcement of Kings of War third edition.
Always fun talking to Ronnie and I hope you enjoy the show. I am no salesman and I am not looking to influence you but every interaction I have had with Mantic has been positive. From talking with Ronnie to their customer service on 3 occasions, to their games: Kings of War, Dungeon Saga, Star Saga, The Walking Dead I have enjoyed them all!
Thanks to Ronnie for coming onto the show once again, always a pleasure. If you want to know more about Ronnie as an individual then go back to Ep 44 where you can hear our first chat, then also Ep 57 & EP 119 for other chats.
This week I speak once again to Joseph McCullough the creator of Frostgrave, Rangers of Shadow Deep, and Oathmark to name just 3. In this show we talk about what has been happening with him since we last spoke in episode 106, we also talk about his opinion on what makes a good game. He highlights the holy trinity that may be at odds with each other. If you haven’t heard from Joseph before I recommend going back to episode 66 for our first chat, then to 106, and then this one. Reason being is that in my first chats with people I tend to get to know them and their history. Subsequent ones we refer back to that but delve deeper into subjects.
I always enjoy my time with Joseph and I think that is because he never appears to give you the party line, he seems to genuinely consider the questions I sling at him and give me his opinion. I like that a lot, especially in an age of corporate sterility.
If you haven’t ever checked out a game by Joseph then make sure you do as he creates opportunities for you to interact with it in many ways both before/during/after the actual tabletop game.
This week I speak to Stuart of Great Escape Games. Great Escape Games not only offers a wide variety of interesting rule sets such as Dead Man’s Hand, a western style skirmish game, Iron Cross, 1914, Seven Days to the River Rhine, all table top war games in a variety of eras, but they also offer miniatures in ranges that may not be offered by other companies in the eras we play. Romanians, Mountain Italian Alpini, Greek Mountain troops to name 3 such ranges from the WW2 era.
Taking Seven Days to the River Rhine and Iron Cross as two examples, what really interests me is that each unit in a force generates a token which can be spent at a variety of times through a turn, it deviates from a traditional turn structure. You can also activate the same unit multiple times, potentially. It is an interesting mechanic, to name just one of the facets which make these games appealing to me personally.
If that sort of thing sounds interesting then give Great Escape Games a look and see what you think.
http://www.greatescapegames.co.uk
It was a genuine pleasure talking to Stuart, as I mention in the show it was the longest pre show I think I have ever had, over an hour chat about loads of different subjects, and the podcast could also have lasted about triple the time. Thanks for coming on Stuart, it was a pleasure to spend some time with you.
I hope you enjoy the show.
This week I speak to Carl Titterington who is just at this very moment releasing his first rule set called Contact Front. Contact Front is a modern skirmish rule set and during the show Carl talks about it and why it may appeal to you if you are into that sort of thing. As with other shows we also delve into Carl’s background and his journey towards creating his own rule set, it is one that is varied and interesting.
It was great to get to know Carl a little better and if Contact Front sounds interesting then go and have a nose about and see what you can rustle up!
You can start here on their FB group:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/334526864107138/
This week I speak to Az of Mythic Games where I try to avoid talking about food, but then talk about food, then we talk about his personal history all the way up to his current work with Mythic Games on their recent work such as Time of Legends: Joan of Arc, Solomon Kane, and Reichbusters. We also give an overview of and go into some detail on their most recent game Super Fantasy Brawl. If you like the sound of Super Fantasy Brawl you can check it out here.

It was great get nato know Az a little more and I wish him all the best in the future with Mythic!!!!
This episode I talk to Joe Veltre of Gods Eye Games and also the Acceptable Casualties Youtube Channel. Joe released his first ruleset Son’s of Mars around a year ago, and also talked to me about the Acceptable Casualties previously these can be found in episode 23 and 84, plus if you check out On Geeking part 3 between episode 65 and 66 you can hear Joe and I just goofing around and letting loose, if you like that sort of thing that is.
In this episode Joe and I talk about his new rule set Steel & Steed which is a Medieval Knights and Tournament rule set which features jousting, mounted combat, as well as grand melee on foot and mounted, along with archery. I won’t spoil the chat by talking about it here but it was fun talking to Joe about his work, got the cogs in my brain whirring about how I could interact with it. I wish Joe all the best with the rules and hope it is a great success.
This episode I talk to Brent Henneberry about all of the reasons why he loves Age of Sigmar. Age of Sigmar needs no introduction but if indeed it does then it is a 28mm scale fantasy tabletop war-game set in lots of different mortal realms.
I always enjoy just relaxing whilst painting and shooting the breeze about games people enjoy, I hope you do too!
This episode I talk to B.Bone from Tabletop tactics. Tabletop tactics is a YouTube channel plus a paid service where you can access D&D and Warhammer 40k content.
The content they put together is varied with great levels of production quality plus some genuine characters with enthusiasm for what they do.
It was interesting hearing about Mr Bone’s personal journey and a little insight into the side of Tabletop Tactics we might not usually hear about.
Thankyou Mr Bone for taking some time to talk to us.
This episode I talk once again to Rich from Too Fat Lardies. Go back to episode 110 to hear about Rich’s back story as in this episode we discover Rich’s opinion on what he thinks makes a good game.
We delve into research, D6’s, campaigns and anything else that crops up over the hour or so we talked. It’s always fun talking to Rich and he makes engaging and interesting games. Go and check out Too Fat Lardy games to see if you agree.
https://toofatlardies.co.uk
This episode I talk to Andy Burdis of Blackjack Legacy. Blackjack legacy is a youtube channel presenting a number of different genre of video such as unboxings, paint tutorials, hobby hints & tricks, scratch builds, and reviews.
It was fun talking to Andy as he is a laid back guy and it was interesting hearing his opinion and insight into not only his own activity but also into the hobby industry as a whole.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiLZLuZU-_3rVBYlxZaoY0g
This episode I talk to Colin from Dish Dash Games. Colin has created a number of skirmish and small force tabletop games that have a strong narrative aspect and lend aspects from his love of RPGs. As we talk you will hear about the games but the 2 most prominently featured are Skirmish Sangin, a modern skirmish game set in Afghanistan, and Ultra Combat Normandy, a platoon sized game set in WW2.
Colin was originally from England but moved to New Zealand and his experience of creating games in that area and how technology has allowed him to distribute his work is interesting to hear.
As with all of the episodes it is great just to listen to someones insight and hear about their journey, especially someone who balances a full time job & a hobby that not only fulfils themselves but also benefits us all by giving us great games to play, thanks Colin and keep it up!
https://www.skirmishsangin.com
This week I speak to Zack Meredith about his journey into 3d sculpting, and his range of ten chibi style miniatures he uses for his RPG games.
I wont spoil the journey but Zack currently has models he has made available from Thingiverse & also a Kickstarter campaign that if you are listening to close to May 17 2019 you may just be able to catch. I have put a link on the description.
It was interesting hearing about Zacks’ journey and insight and I really respect his attitude to create something he wanted but couldn’t find, he has a great attitude.

This week I speak to Thibaud from Triton Noir about his personal insight and experience, his V Commandos game and the upcoming Assassins Creed game. Triton Noir is a company formed by Thibaud in Montreal Canada, their first game V Commandos was kick-started & off the back of that Assassins Creed Brotherhood of Venice, which sees an evolution and refinement of the V Commandos dynamic, came to Kickstarter recently and saw over 1.3 million Canadian dollars pledged.
The late pledge is open until November 2019 so I encourage you to take a look at the game if you haven’t already. Paint All The Minis is an independent entity and that is my opinion, just my opinion alone but anything I felt that was missing in V Commandos, which is fantastic by the way and you should check that out too, has been addressed by the Assassins Creed game.
Thibaud came across as an intelligent, kind, open, and enthusiastic person and it is always a delight to find someone behind something you love is such a great person too. I wish Thibaud all the best in the future and I cant wait to see what he comes up with next.

This week I speak to Seb Lavigne. Seb is an amazing painter and is currently a studio painter for Mythic Games, you have probably seen his work for Time of Legends: Joan of Arc, Solomon Kane, or Reichbusters. You may have also seen his work on Moonstone from Goblin King Games which was featured recently on the podcast.
We cover his personal history and chat over anything interesting that came up along with some more painting focused questions on his preferences and experience.

This week I talk to Joe Krone of Watchful I Studios. Joe has created a range of asian mythological minis for use in a number of game systems. From terracotta warriors to foo dogs and headless giants with faces in their chests Joe has gone to town with some interesting sculpts and models.
As you hopefully know with Paint All The Minis it is not just about products people have created it is the story of the person behind and the build up to what they create and it was great talking to Joe and hearing about the inspirations and the formative steps he made before releasing this model range, he has some great stories and insights.
If you like the idea of an Asian inspired army, or enemies for your RPG games then check out Watchful I Studios, equally if you have a friend who loves that dynamic then make sure you pass it on. Joe is a passionate guy looking to do more and he needs support if he is going to do so, so check it out and pass it on.

This episode I talk to Dan about all of the reasons why he loves Moonstone.
You may remember in episode 123 I spoke to Tom Greenway about his personal history and also Moonstone from a creators standpoint. As you know Paint All The Minis is about generating and sharing goodwill in the hobby community and it has been great to put together 2 Moonstone podcasts to try to get more people aware of this game as it is one I have a genuine interest in. It is always great when you have an interest in something and when you look a little closer it only pulls you further in.
Tom seems a really genuine and positive person. Moonstone is innovative and engaging. I wish the game all the best and it has been great learning more about it over the last 6 - 8 weeks.
This episode I talk to Tom Greenway of Goblin King Games. Tom created the tabletop skirmish game Moonstone. It features a number of innovative features and components that make the game truly stand out from others such as the melee and arcane components along with some amazing minis full of character. I won’t spoil any of the conversation but I will say that there is a current Kickstarter for Moonstone available and will be until April 12, so if you are a prompt listener you can take a look, and if you are listening to us in the future then there is still an opportunity to hear if Moonstone is for you and you can take a look and see if it is for you.
As always if you decide it isn’t for you but know someone who would love it then please pass it on. The articles on PATM.com, this podcast, or even just Goblin King Games’ website would all be great. I’d love for Tom to do more of what he loves and bring us amazing content!

It was great Talking to Tom and everyone at PATM wishes him all the best in the future.
This episode I talk to Thomas Stoesser the creator of Stoessi’s Heroes, a company that makes historical characters to form part of your WW2 tabletop war-game factions. I wont spoil the story about how all this came about but what I will say is that the minis that are created for Stoessi’s Heroes are brilliant and would certainly take pride of place in your armies and give you a brilliant painting challenge.
It was great talking to Thomas and I thank him for taking some time to speak to me, it took us months to find a time we were both free but I am so glad we managed to find time to talk.

This episode I speak to Nick Bogart about all of the reasons why he loves Relicblade, the fantasy skirmish game by Metal King Studio. I really enjoyed talking to Nick about why he loves the game and I am finding the Why I love Podcasts are becoming my favourite as I enjoy listening to someone highlight the things they love. This episode I catch up once again with Ronnie Renton of Mantic Games, and we talk about all the fun and interesting things that came out since we last spoke and also what to expect in 2019.
If you are listening to this as it comes out then check out the current terrain Kick Starter campaign, you can get involved, or equally check out the late pledge. It is a really great way to add a new aspect to your games with their pieces of terrain.
Its always great to talk to Ronnie and I hope you enjoy our chat.
This week I talk to Bryan Cook about his game supplement for Bolt Action, the 28mm scale WW2 tabletop game by Warlord Games.
Bryan has bee a friend of Paint All The Minis for a long time now and it was great to have an excuse to talk to him about this huge project he has undertaken.
As a supplement book it sounds great and as you will hear in the show it will be a cracking hobby journey for people who enjoy the era and a great opportunity to breathe new life into your games. I hope you enjoy our chat.
In this episode I talk to Jon Harrington about all of the reasons he loves the Beyond the Gates of Antares game by Warlord Games. I’m not going to talk about it here as Jon does a great job of it during the show but needless to say I hope you enjoy this weeks ramble.
This show marks pretty much 2 years to the day since I started the show. 117 episodes plus a number of specials in 2 years isn’t so bad eh! I have made sure that I release at least one a week and I hope that in some small way it has allowed you to get your hobby on at a slightly higher level, its been amazing to see what has been achieved over 3 years of the Paint All The Minis Facebook group and 2 years of podcasting, will be interesting to see where we get to on another few years.

This week I speak to Mr Dan Faulconbridge of Wargames Illustrated. Wargames Illustrated is a monthly magazine by war gamers for war gamers that comes in both a physical and electronic format. They also offer a Prime service where you can get a more in-depth experience in the form of video content plus also access to their back catalogue which is certainly worth a look.
Another little sweetener to the deal, and something Dan mentions in the show is the free models you can receive with Wargames Illustrated. You can pick up the magazine and get some models that can be a fun change of pace or equally the beginning of a new journey in the hobby.
It was brilliant talking to Dan for a number of reasons & it was great to hear a little of his story and get to know him. The conversation is a little garbled in a couple of sections due to a poor connection on Skype but these sections are pretty integral to the chat, around 11 minutes is one such areas. Apologies for this, it is a rarity, but the upshot is that I am sure I will have to extend another invite to Dan from the show and do another in the future.
I hope you enjoy our chat and finding out more about a great guy in the hobby community.
This week I speak to Drek from both PATM and the Gamer Drek youtube channel. At PATM we have been working with Drek for a few months so I thought it was high time to get to know him a little better and to also tip our hats to him for his most recent series he did for us.
He loves both Drop Fleet and Drop Zone commaner, games now owned by TT Combat. Drek put together a whole getting started series of videos for Drop Fleet from a cinematic narrative of the lore to unboxing, painting, and playing your first game. It was really great so if you like orbital space combat then. Give it a look. The rule book is beautiful also so make sure you check it out.
It was fun getting know Drek a little more and I hope you enjoy his work on PATM.

Hello and welcome to a special patreon podcast I have put together as a thank you to the patrons for generously donating some of their hard earned money to PATM to support our community growth and development. I really appreciate it and hope that you enjoy the chat that Joe Veltre and I had.
In the show I challenge Joe to some riddles, we tell the world alternate descriptions to game we know in the ‘the game it should have been’, we also play Ach Ja oder Ich dont think so, where I read Joe game names and he has to decide if he thinks they are real or made up. We also talk about a host of hobby things too.
If you are listening to the short teaser on the regular podcast stream then you can get access to this by supporting us via Patreon. We want to grow and support our community and also help out with community projects, Patreon will allow us to do that. Any funds will go to improving and growing what we do. We hope you enjoy what we do and that you see the value in supporting us.

This week I get to know Travis from Tabletop CP a little more. Travis has a youtube channel where he puts together content for a number of games that he loves, you will hear about what games and why he does it in the show.
It was great to get to know him as he has been putting content together for the PATM Youtube channel for a while now and his enthusiasm for what he does is brilliant, he is such a positive person who is a great role model for the community.
I hope you enjoy our chat.
This week I talk to Chase from On Tabletop about all of the reasons he loves A Song of Ice & Fire, the recent release from C’MON.
For those people not aware A Song of Ice & Fire is a table top war game set in the Game of Thrones universe and pits units of warriors against each other with help from non combat units off the battle field and also a hand deck of tactics cards that can change the flow of the battle.
It was great talking to Chase, it was fun for me to talk with someone else as enthusiastic about this game as I am. If you enjoy historical/fantasy war games then I encourage you to check it out as I personally love it and it is always close to the top of the suggestion list when a gaming friend and I are thinking about what to play.
Thanks to Chase for coming onto the show and make sure you check out his A Song of Ice and Fire podcast which you can find on his facebook page if you like the game and want to find out more.
This week I speak to Jay from the 5th trooper podcast about why he loves Star Wars Legion.
Back in episode 87 I spoke to Alex Davy the main developer of Star Wars Legion & it was brilliant to talk to Jay about all of the things he has loved about the game and where he feels it will go in the future.
If you aren’t aware of Star Wars Legion then simply put it is a 28mm scale tabletop war game set in the Star Wars galaxy with some great art work, simple to pick up rules, and some great models.
Thanks to Jay for coming onto the show to tell us why he loves the game so much and if you enjoy the game too then check out the Fifth Trooper podcast if you haven’t already
This week I speak to Rich from Too Fat Lardies. Rich and his partner Nick create rules for a number of genres from the black powder era, WW2, to Sci Fi.
During our chat we talk about Rich’s background along with a number of different areas that came up when we chatted. This episode is literally hot off the press, I only just recorded it and so there maybe a few rougher edges than usual but I wanted to make sure that you guys had an episode to listen to.
It was a genuine pleasure to talk to Rich and I hope you enjoy the show, if you haven’t checked out any Too Fat Lardies games then make sure you do. As I allude to in the show it is very easy to pick up a rule set and play with figures you already have, you wont need to buy hundreds of pounds worth of new models to interact with their rule sets, plus how they focus on characters in their games is a really fun aspect.
This week I talk to Adam Kwapiński a board game designer from Poland. Adam has created a number of games you will know but most notably Nemesis, a sci fi semi cooperative game with minis & Lords of Hellas, two fantastic games.
I loved talking to Adam and there were some epic sound bites in our chat. An alien could never be as bad as any human you can meet is one for sure when he was talking about the semi cooperative nature of nemesis.
He was a great guy to speak to and I am sure I speak for all of us when I say thanks for the amazing games so far and that we cant wait to hear more from him.
I hope you enjoy the show.
This week I talk to Jan Wagner of Underground games. Jan recently ran a Kickstarter campaign for a minis board game Jagged Alliance 2. You can read the PATM article about Jagged Alliance 2 on the link below. As soon as the game is shipped we will be doing some video content for it and we cant wait.
https://www.paintalltheminis.com/paint-all-the-minis-news/2018/11/23/jagged-alliance-why-i-want-to-know-more
It was great talking to Jan about the game, its mechanics and some of the highlights along with some of his personal insight and experience, and also the future of Underground Games.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone who celebrates that sort of thing, to celebrate we just this week released a whole new line up of merch products. We have had 5 new designs commissioned by the immensely talented Ben Doane. I personally love them and I am super excited to get my hands on them so I can geek out in style!
https://teespring.com/en-GB/stores/paint-all-the-minis
It is not only t shirts, we have phone cases, stickers, mugs, hoodies, & many other things.
The PATM merch is designed to not only give you something cool to have but it is also focused on generating a little income to improve the variety & quality of the content we offer on all of our platforms. All the bat reps, video content, written content, give aways, & competitions all cost us right now. But if you like our designs and purchase some things then not only do you get something you like but any profit generated goes straight back into improving the stuff we do, so please consider taking a look and choosing to support us.
This week I talk to Tyler Schulz. Tyler has been moonlighting recently on the PATM site giving us content from the walking dead.
It was great to get to know Tyler a little more, his history, his insight, and also the things in the hobby he has enjoyed since he started doing it.
Many thanks to Tyler for coming onto the show I hope you all enjoy it
This week I talk to once again to Joseph McCullough the man behind Frostgrave, ghost archipelago & most recently Rangers of Shadow deep.
I always enjoy talking to Joseph as he is a really down to earth and open guy. In the show we talk about what has changed since I spoke to him back in episode 66 and also about his bridging of choose your own adventure, RPG, Coop, and, tabletop skirmish gaming that is Rangers of Shadow Deep.
As I mention heavily in the show I love Joseph’s work for the reason that he lays the table but we get to interact with his feast in our own way, building your Ranger and his band, choosing their traits and talents even before the game has begun adds a layer to the game that means it is super immersive and engaging. If you haven’t checked out Rangers of Shadow Deep yet then make sure you do as it is a great game with more content incoming!
Thanks to Joseph for taking some time out of his very busy schedule to talk to me, it was a pleasure as always.
This week I talk to Dave Munro about why he loves Konflikt ’47. You’ll hear more about the game, its rules, and its genre in the show but a snapshot is that it is a weird world war 2 tabletop game but warlord games.
I thought it was about time we had another why I love podcast, its always great hearing about why people love particular games. Thanks to Dave for taking the time to talk to me, was a blast getting to know him a little more.
I hope you enjoy the show.
This week I talk to Marcin from Awaken Realms. Awaken Realms create board games that feature great minis. I was first aware of Awaken Realms through their This War of Mine board game that I played around a year ago. It is a really deep and immersive game that is thought provoking and has a very serious subject area but never the less it is engaging and interesting.
More recently I backed their Nemesis board game. This looks amazing, the minis alone are great. Awesome space ship crew members and vicious aliens, a great painting challenge. The game looks equally brilliant however and the story seems rich and deep, the idea of a semi cooperative game is also really good. Most recently I became aware of Fall of Avalon: Tainted Grail. A new game coming to Kick Starter December 5th 2018. I personally see this as a refinement, progression of, and another spin on This War of Mins in terms of some of the subject matter the players will have to face up to. Death, injury, insanity, it looks great and I cant wait to hear more.
This was the first time I have spoken to Marcin and if you are new to PATM you may not know that PATM is not necessarily a podcast about news or features. This podcast is a chat with Marcin about his personal insight and experience, we get to know him a little more, his opinions on things, his motivations, and his view points. I do hope to try and sneak in a podcast with him very soon to discuss Tainted Grail in detail.
It was a great chat but I felt that we were only scratching the surface of what we could have talked about and there are so many more questions I have for him. Fingers crossed he comes back on soon and we can chat more specifically about his games.
I hope you enjoy the show.
This week I talk once again to Sean Sutter of Metal King studio and the creator of the Relic Blade tabletop skirmish game.
I spoke to Sean back in Episode 39 so if you want to hear more about his personal history and Relic Blade in general then listen to that also.
Its always great to speak to Sean as his passion, talent, and positivity really shine through. The main focus of this discussion was what has changed in Relic Blade since we last spoke and also the current (as of Nov 2018) Kickstarter Campaign The Moldorf Expedition.
It was brilliant talking to him about the lore, the dwarves, the elves, and other assorted areas. Make sure you check out the Relic Blade game as it really is a genuinely engaging game with a cool story & amazing artwork.

I hope you enjoy the show
This week I talk to Leo Vesperini of Mythic Games about the upcoming KS game Reich Busters along with updates for previous campaigns Joan of Arc & Solomon Kane.
This is the third time I have spoken to Leo and if you want to hear more from him, his history, and Mythic Games’ and their work then you can go and check episode 54 & 59.
Its always a pleasure to speak to Leo as his enthusiasm and passion for games shines through. Mythic Games are always up to interesting stuff and the Reich Busters game is no exception. In a nutshell it is a 1-4 player co op game of infiltration in a weird world war setting. Check out the Kick-starter when it goes live on November 20th.
I hope you enjoy the show!
This episode I talk to Mike Tuñez of Firelock Games about their current Kick Starter for the 1:600th scale squadron/fleet game Oak & Iron.
We chat about the core box components, the theme, mechanics of the game, and any potential stretch goals etc that will be added.
You can check out the Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/firelockgames/oak-and-iron
Best of luck to Mike and Firelock for this new exciting game.
Ou’d av thunked it!!!
Episode 100 is here and I couldn’t have done anything without people to talk to, many MANY thanks to all of you for both being guests and for listening to the show its consistenly astonishing that people come on and people take the time to listen.
I encourage you all to pick out an episode you may not have listened to as there are some amazing stories from people who may not immediately jump out to you.
This episode a veritable smorgasbord of our 100 episodes to date with a smattering of trappings from people who took the time to send in a message. Many thanks to you if you sent in a message they were all appreciated and gratefully recieved.
I hope you enjoy a trip back to a few episodes and hearing both some of Bryan Cook’s best bits and a couple that jump out to me.
Big shout out to Tyler Goodflower on this show as he is away traveling around the world and I thought I’d give him a shout.
This week Josh Benedetto takes centre stage and talks to Jordan Peterson (with a silent ph) about Forgotten Realms Explored. Forgotten Realms Explored if Jordan’s Youtube channel where he delves into the history and lore of Dungeons & Dragons. In his succinct videos he investigates myths, cities, & events, it is a great way to up your D&D smarts!
Josh takes to Jordan about his personal insight and history along with what he does with his channel. It was great to hear them chatting, thanks so much to Josh.

This week I talk to Jason from Thunderchild Miniatures. We talk about his personal insight and experience plus his post apocalyptic game called Wasteman but wait….there’s more, we also talk about his current Kickstarter campaign for his new game Goregasm Arena. I wont spoil the surprise of what Goregasm Arena is but if you like easy to pick up, fun, & lighthearted games then this is one for you!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2032267828/goregasm-arena
It was great speaking to Jason and he is yet another one man show trying to get his dreams off the ground so if you have a look at Goregasm and enjoy it, plus if you have a few quid in your bum bag then give his campaign a helping hand. You get a great game and he gets to put it together for all of us to play.
This week I talk to Michael aka Warcorgi from the Warcorgi YouTube channel. As you will hear in the show Michael started up his YouTube channel to record and publish bat reps for a number of games including Team Yankee and Warhammer 40k, amongst others.
Michael has recently began working a little closer with Paint All The Minis and at the time of this episode coming out he is just finishing off some Star Wars Legion bat reps to go up on the site after already completed the unboxing and painting videos that you can already see at paintalltheminis.com
Michael is exactly the sort of person who personifies PATM. He is enthusiastic, positive, caring, & he has boundless passion for the hobby. It was great getting to know him more and sharing the story of his experience. I cant get over his wife throwing his Goblins around in the basement but you will have to wait for that bit. I hope you enjoy our chat.
This week I talk to Tero Kanko in another sustainable gaming podcast. This is the last of 2, I will shut up about it after this. But if you remember from episode 95 the idea of sustainability, something that we can do for a long time is something that really interests me. I see a lot of people across a great many hobbies that spend a lot of money to buy into it but then never seem to get any value out of it in terms of hours spent, but I digress.
It was great not only talking to Tero about his own personal history but it was also great hearing about his personal history and also how he found Paint All The Minis.
Dont forget to check out paintalltheminis.com for a whole raft of other content such as bat reps, unboxings, paint tutorials etc. Plus also come and show us what you are painting on the Paint All The Minis Facebook group, or just lurk about and see what others are painting. Remember no one will judge you negatively for your work, we just want to share in your hobby and celebrate you getting your brushes out.
This week I talk to Jesse about not only his personal journey into the hobby but also around the idea of making our gaming experience sustainable.
Sustainable in terms of what we can do to make our gaming experience as engaging as possible for us for the longest amount of time. This revolved around 3 main areas, playing regularly, painting regularly, and having a to do pile that is manageable.
Now I am not advocating telling people how to hobby, if your have fun doing whatever you do then do it. But I am very interested in exploring the things that people who have the most fun in tabletop gaming do, and wondering that if you maximise your fun and engagement if it makes you want to do if for a longer period.
I do believe for me personally that when I play regularly, when I play painted & paint regularly, and when I keep my to do pile manageable then I have had the most fun. If any of those drops off then it has been a bit more of a struggle. But thats me, I am sure there as many different ideas on this as there are people who play.
Join me and Jesse as we discuss what it means and what he does to keep the hobby interesting.
Keep Paintin’
This week I talk to Nick aka British Legion from the British Legion youtube channel.
Nick makes videos about his painting exploits, sharing tips and hints along the way. I enjoy Nick’s videos, he is always up to something interesting.
This week paintalltheminis.com went live. This is our new website where you will be able to access the podcast and interact with us but even more importantly you will be able to get involved with a wider array of content such as unboxing videos, paint tutorials both written and video, paint diary videos, blog & other articles, and finally battle reports for a variety of games!
It is my hope over the next 6 - 9 months to begin to work with other caring & enthusiastic content producers to give you all an interesting website with genuinely engaging content. Even just at the moment I am working with over a dozen people to provide content for it.
It is exciting times for PATM and I hope that you are all looking forward to interacting more with us. Dont forget to come over and check us out at paintalltheminis.com
Getting back to Nick he will be working with us and providing some of his own brand of enthusiasm to get us excited about minis, his first video us already up where he unboxed The Bondsmen, a faction from The Drowned Earth Miniatures Game. If you like the video then you can check out Episode 9 & 17 where I talk to the games creator James Baldwin.
I hope you enjoy the chat!
This week I talk to Mr Matt Schreiber of the Rocky’s War Room Youtube channel. Matt is also a very positive PATM page member and is also going to contribute to the new PATM Website when it goes live soon.
Matt does some great videos on youtube about generic geeking and they are always worth a watch, he is a really nice guy to boot and it was fantastic talking to him for an hour, he was really easy to talk to.
As I just mentioned the new PATM website it very close to launch. For those who are not up to speed the new website will see us branch out into other hobby content areas such as both written and video paint tutorials aimed at both intermediate and beginner painters. We will also be looking to provide unboxings, paint diary videos, weekly blogs, bat reps, and any thing else we see fit.
The main ethos behind this new website is care & enthusiasm, we simply wont work with people who do not reflect those two traits. We hope it can be a place for you to listen, read, watch things that we all find interesting from people from the community that care about us and we them. Thats the plan anyway and we’d love to have you along for the journey.
Hey there,
This week I talk to Dave Muir and about all the reasons why he he loves both Battletech and Malifaux.
Dave is a great positive page presence on Paint All The Minis and it was great to talk to him and get to know him better. Battletech and Malifaux are both games I have heard of and seen from afar but not played. I hope to be able to get involved soon!
I hope you enjoy the show!
This week I speak to Andy Hall the Lead narrative designer of the fantasy team at Creative Assembly, the people behind the Warhammer Total War Franchise.
I am always looking for different views, perspectives, and stories that link to our hobby and it was interesting to not only talk to Andy about his own personal journey but then also how our hobby has linked more and more into video games. If you havent checked out Warhammer Total War then you are missing out, its epic!
It was very kind of Andy to give us some of his time, and I really enjoyed speaking to him. I never like to pry into things too much with our guests but it seems like there are exciting additions to come in the franchise.
Our 100th show is coming up soon and I’d love to hear from you. Josh Benedetto and I will be taking a look back at the shows and he has picked out some of his favourite nuggets that we will re live, I have done the same too. But we want to hear from both the previous guests and the listeners. If you want to contribute, I will play them during the show, you need to record yourself highlighting some of the following:
Please send the MP3 to paintalltheminis@gmail.com
This journey is ours together and I would love you to be involved in the episode.
This week I speak to one of the finest sculptors of historical minis in the world, Mr Paul Hicks. Paul sculpts for a number of model companies along with his own company Mutton Chop Miniatures. If you are into historical minis from WW2, Napoleonic era, victorian and WW1 then you have probably picked up and enjoyed his work.
As always with my shows they are not categorical journeys about peoples work to date, it is more of a meandering chat about whatever comes up. We talk about how Paul first got into the hobby as a child, how it developed and progressed and then onto his part-time/full-time/part-time/full-time tussle with getting serious in sculpting.
Many thanks to Paul for coming onto the show and spending some of his time with us, it was a real pleasure and I hope you enjoy the show.
This week is another why I love podcast, this week is Mr Seamus Hamrin and why he loves Black Powder and Sharpe’s practice.
We head back in time to the 1800’s this time to chat about why he loves this game so much.
I hope you enjoy the show!
This week is the first of a number of slightly different podcasts that I will release periodically called Why I love:
The why I love podcasts, as you will hear are shows with people who explain what it is that they love about certain games.
This week it comes from Mr Patch Adams and we talk about why he loves Bolt Action. It was great to hear all of Patch’s enthusiasm for Bolt Action, hearing his anecdotes and experience of the game.
It was also great to get to know Patch a little more as he has been a very active member of the PATM facebook page for a number of months now, he really personifies the positivity and welcoming nature we strive for on the page. So thanks Patch, and keep it up.
I hope you all enjoy the show.
This week I talk to Alex Davy (currently of Fantasy Flight games) the creator and contributor to a number of games that we all know and love such as: Descent, Dust, Star Wars X Wing, Star Wars Armada, and most recently Star Wars Legion.
Alex was a brilliant character to speak to and I personally really enjoyed speaking to him, as I have mentioned a lot previously it is great to speak to these people and realise that they are good people, it really adds an extra layer of interest to me when I know the person behind the game.
A trillion thankyou’s to Alex for taking the time to talk to us no money changes hands with these episodes so it is purely down to his good will that allows it to happen, many thanks Alex.
As always I hope you enjoy the show.
This week Josh flies solo (i put my feet up and have a cup of tea) and talks to Frank West the creator of The City of Kings.
The City of Kings is a tactical roleplaying board game for 1 - 4 players, where your character is tasked with exploring the hazardous world, trading for vital resources, and battling your enemies whilst uncovering a story of a world imperilled.
The City of Kings features full character customisation, resource management, board exploration and roleplaying style ‘quests’ for an innovative blend of gaming experience.
I wont tread on the episode’s toes but one thing that came accross when I listened was the commitment and passion that Frank has to get where he has, he really pulled out all the stops.
Thanks to Josh for taking some time to talk to Frank, and also to Frank!
We hope you enjoy the show!
City of Kings: http://thecityofkings.com
This week I talk to Justin Hill a world renowned author of many award winning and notable books, but the main reason I wanted to talk to him was because he has written a number of Black Library books. The Black Library is the publishing arm of the Warhammer world. Justin has written a number of books most notably, in my opinion, the Cadia Stands book which outlines the black crusade aimed at the planet.
It was a genuine pleasure speaking to Justin and I thank him for taking the time to talk to us. It never gets tiring talking to people that leave you more enthusiastic about their work than you were before you spoke to them. I have read three of Justins non Black Library books recently and they are all good reads, so check them out too. If you just read action books then Shieldwall and Viking Fire are great. I also just finished the Drink and Dream Teahouse, which holds the record for the highest advance paid for a book.
Check out Justin’s work here: https://www.blacklibrary.com/authors/justin-d-hill
This episode I talk once more to Joe Veltre of the Acceptable Casualties youtube channel and facebook group about his debut ruleset, Sons of Mars.
Sons of Mars is a historical skirmish ruleset set in ancient Rome.
It was great to talk to Joe again, he is a fantastic, postive, and open guy and it was brilliant to talk to him about his ruleset, we wish him all the best with it.
Anyway I hope you enjoy the show and make sure you check out Sons of Mars to see if you like it!

This week I talk to George Kleanthous of the Model Box monthly subscription service.
I met up with George just before his wedding in June, it was great of him to meet up so close to it, we hung out at a coffee shop and talked about his journey into the hobby and also how Model Box came in to being, & how he would like it to develop in the future. In the show we go into more detail about what model box is and why you may like to subscribe.
I’d love to see your hobby projects you have ongoing so make sure you come and share your work on the Paint All The Minis Facebook Group.
I hope you enjoy the show.

This week I talk to Dan of Terrain Factory. The Terrain Factory is still a little fluid at present but what Dan would like to do is provide you with a 3d printer to print off terrain and other things in your own home, enabling your games to be even better than they are now.
As with all shows we discuss Dan’s history in tabletop gaming & chart his progress towards his ambitions & exciting goal.
It was great talking to Dan and it will be interesting to see how this area develops over the months & years. If you want to find out more about Dan and Terrain Factory then listen in towards the end where he gives out info, or click on the links below.
Terrain Factory: https://www.facebook.com/TerrainFactory/
This week I talk to Mr Teras Cassidy of Geek Nation Tours. In the show you will hear how Teras fist became involved in tabletop games & his background, plus also how he then went on to form his business Geek Nation Tours.
Geek Nation Tours offer a number of tours for people looking to have unique experiences with like minded people who may or may not know each other before the trip.
Teras and I talk through a number of tours during the show but in a nutshell they range from visiting cons and gaming expos to battlefield or cultural tours.
I dont want to tread on the toes of the episode so I will leave it there but I would encourage you to check out Geek Nation Tours as they seem really interesting and with no need to micro manage and stress over itineraries you can just kick back and enjoy the ride.
Geek Nation Tours: http://geeknationtours.com
I hope you enjoy the show!
In this special Midweek show Josh Benedetto talks to Julie & Walter from Greenbrier Games.
Greenbrier have been very successful launching games on Kickstarter and some of their more popular titles have been: Folklore: The Affliction, Champions of Hara, & Grimslingers: The Northern Territory.
You can find out more about them here: https://secure.greenbriergames.com/gne/
Massive thanks to Jule and Walter for coming onto the show, and to Josh for making it happen. More chattage with more awesome people is never a bad thing, I hope you enjoy this special show!
This week I talk to Mr Casey Pittman of the Texas Bolt Action group. When I was first getting into the hobby Casey was around to answer noob questions and offer support and guidance. He has been heavily involved in community creation and shaping which was the main reason I wanted to talk to him.
It is people like him who truly bring people together and it is his time and selfless commitment which create the environment for the awesome social connections and shared experiences people have when playing games.
It was great to hear about his experience and insight…..
I hope you enjoy the show.
This week I talk to Mr Nicholas Bogart of the Skirmish Supremacy podcast. The Skirmish Supremacy podcast is a show where nick talks to creators of smaller tabletop/skirmish/board games about their products.
Its a great way to get to know new games and hear more about the people behind them. Nicholas works tirelessly to create content as you will gear from the show and he has been evolving and diversifying his offering over the last year, he is even beginning to develop his own game, very exciting stuff.
As always I hope you enjoy the show!
Skirmish Supremacy Podcast: http://skirmishsupremacy.com
This week I talk to Scott Walter from the Miniac Youtube channel.
I was really keen to seek out and chat to scott as he has a number of interesting aspects to both his videos and his character which I was interested to find out more about. As with pretty much 100% of the guests I found scott to be a really laid back, kind, open, and friendly person and I really enjoyed our chat. It was interesting to hear his story, his development and i came away from our chat even more interested in his work than previously.
Dont forget that if you like the show and want to interact with us more than you can come and hang out on the Paint All the Minis facebook group, where you can lurk about or even show us your painted minis from whatever game it is that you are currently playing, plus we always have something going on in there so come and check that out.
Miniac Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/SDubist
This week I talk to Andrew Arrowwood, a paint all the minis page member, a you tube channel producer and the creator of the Paint All The Minis theme tune.
I really enjoy talking to Andrew he is one of the genuine characters within our hobby and we talk about why during the show. His outlook on the hobby and the way he sees the world is quirky and interesting and I never fail to smile when I am watching his work or chatting to him.
Check out his Lawrence Jameson Youtube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzAGZhiNV_eP99Cp-xPcngw/feed
I hope you enjoy the show!
This week I talk to Isaac Childres of Cephalofair Games. He is the creator of Gloomhaven and Forge War. Gloomhaven has been a runaway success raising 4 million dollars on kickstarter and included a number of really cool ideas and concepts. In very basic terms it is a dungeon crawler miniatures board game with character & world development making the whole world seem immersive and ever changing.
It was a pleasure to be able to speak to Isaac and he came across as very modest guy, explaining all of his work in a matter of fact way, he doesnt seem one to toot his own horn about the stuff that he has done.
His games show the amazing level of thought, detail, & effort that he puts into his craft and to get an even better insight into him & his work then check out his blog on his webiste, I have provided a link below so you can go and look. In that he talks about all aspects of his work, it is a good read.
I hope you enjoy the show.
Cephalofair Games: http://www.cephalofair.com
This week I talk to Luke Fellows of Luke’s Affordable Painting Service. It was really interesting speaking to Luke and hearing about his own journey into the hobby and also his evolution and development into what he does today.
Luke is probably best renowned for his Youtube channel Luke’s APS where is produces a plethora of videos but scratch built terrain seem to be the most popular. If you havent checked out the channel then make sure you do so as there is some really interesting content there.
It will also be really interesting to see where Luke goes with his activities, he seems to be very enthusiastic to evolve and create new stuff, so it will be fun to see what he does in the future.
I hope you enjoy the show!

This week I talk to Peter Brown, a you tube channel producer and podcaster. His channel Mini model paint studio, has videos on product reviews, visits to expos & cons, and technique vids.
The podcast, Models Workshop: After Hours UK edition is a laid back conversation with a number of modellers about techniques, current projects and also interviews with people in the industry. This UK version is an extension of the US version and is worth checking out, especially if you enjoy podcasts centred around a group of people hanging out and shooting the breeze as they paint their work.
As you will hear in the show, Peter is a really enthusiastic guy and I enjoyed our chat, & hope you do too.

Hey,
This week Josh Benedetto talks to ME about my own experience and journey, such as that is!
We noticed I never really introduce myself in the shows and no one really knows who I am, so we thought it might be an idea to fill in some gaps.
Thanks to YOU all for listening, supporting, and advocating the show & all our other activities.
I hope we can continue to grow and develop together making a kick ass community.

This week I speak to Mike Tuñez the co creator of Blood and Plunder a 28mm scale skirmish game set in the golden age of Caribean piracy. Also co founder of Firelock Games, who produce this game along with some exciting new additions to come.
I’m always looking to interact with you so if you have additional questions for Mike, or clarification on anything brought up then please come and hang out with us on the Paint All The Minis facebook group.
You can also come and show us your painting projects and work. At Paint all the minis we are all about the average joe getting involved in the hobby on their own terms. The whole ethos for us is helping you to get your geek on via all our offerings.

This week I talk to Mr Tim Bancroft who is the studio coordinator for the Beyond the Gates of Antares game by Warlord Games, plus he also runs a Beyond the Gates of Antares podcast called The Freeborn Shard.
It was interesting to hear about Tim’s journey with hobbying and also about how he has ended up where he has, it has been far from the usual straight line journey.
It was a pleasure speaking to Tim and I hope you enjoy our chat.
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/paintalltheminis
This week I talk to Mr Jon Halter of the All Miniatures Great & Small You tube channel.
As you will hear in the show Jon does Bat reps for warhammer 40k and flames of war mostly. With unboxing videos and other bits and bobs along the way.
I personally really enjoy Jon’s style of videos and his demeanour. He is laid back and his bat reps are informative, fun, and I appreciate all of his work. I recommend checking them out if you havent already.
As ever it was great to talk to a guest with an interesting insight and experience, & I hope you enjoy our chat.
This week I talk to Ben Lee of Blue Manchu games. You may remember in episode 63 I spoke to Jon Chey the owner of Blue Manchu, well Ben works there as an art director.
Blue Manchu is most renowned for its free to download and play video game called Card Hunter, a dungeon exploring game with lots of interesting twists and takes on. One such idea is that you are not just playing the game, you are playing someone who is playing the game, and it is a tongue in cheek hark back to all the positive recollections of D&D.
It was interesting hearing more about Card Hunter but also more about the role of art direction and what this entails, especially in a smaller company. It was also fun to hear about Ben’s journey about working at a GW store, for Disney, and also on the Wren and Stimpy cartoon which I used to love back in the day.
A great guest and some really cool insight, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/paintalltheminis
This week I talk to James Hewitt formally of Games Workshop & Mantic, but most recently stepping out with his own company Needy Cat Games. I am not going to list his works, we talk about those during the show but what I will say is that it is fantastic to see him forging ahead with his own company and my biggest take away from the chat is that James is a great bloke and he is highly thought of by a great many people within the industry.
One final thing about James is that his most recent work, Hellboy by Mantic Games comes out onto Kick Starter next week, from the 25th of April 2018. It looks really really good, and no doubt with James behind the wheel in terms of rules direction it is going to be a fun game. If you want to know more about hellboy after this show then go back and listen to episode 57 with Ronnie Renton, we talk about it more in there. We wish it every success.
Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/paintalltheminis
This week I talk Joseph McCollough, the creator of Frostgrave, Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago, and the up coming Oathmark, which I am pretty excited about personally.
Joseph’s story into the industry is interesting as he started at a very young age, as you will hear, but then entered the industry via writing and not games design.
I pretty much always say this, but it doesnt lessen the feeling or the meaning, it was amazing to talk to Joseph about his history and his insight, i genuinely felt at ease like we could talk about anything at all, and I could ask him any question at all. He was open, honest, and accommodating at every turn. I will certainly be talking to him again in the future to find out more about Oathmark, everything I have seen and heard about this new fantasy game is great!

Hey everyone,
Ever wondered what games and painting inventions are swirling around my brain?
Well let me remove that wonder and give to you 4 of my tabletop/boardgame ideas and 4 painting inventions to improve, motivate, & enable your mini painting.
I am joined by Joe Veltre of the Acceptable Casualties YouTube channel and he brings 4 of his game ideas, and 4 of his inventions also.
Please remember this is for fun and none of these terrible ideas or games are intended to offend. We do talk about certain life issues but it is not our intent to ridicule or belittle, I hope our ideas are taken in the manner they are presented, as a little bit of fun, not that I think there is anything extreme in there, just wanted to cover bases.
Hope you enjoy!
Hey,
This week I talk to Charles Trahan, a local of Baton Rouge, Louisiana about his journey into the hobby plus also boardgames involving minis, and also attending games cons & why he likes them.
Was fantastic talking to him, a great guest with an interesting story.

This week I talk once again to Mr Gav Thorpe about 3 of his recent/upcoming releases in the Black Library.
They are 3 diverse subject areas and mediums covering audio & written format and 3 totally different sets of characters. Its always fun to talk to Gav as he is really open and gives great opinions about his craft and his work.
A fun chat again and I am sure his releases will all be big hits. It was really interesting to hear his opinions on audio books/dramas and the differences between regular novels and the auditory mediums.
If you want to support the show then please checkout our patreon page and help us to improve the all round experience for everyone involved in the show and the paint page.
Another reason to check out the Patreon page is that I am going to start a spin off periodical podcast where I discuss my move to China and the experience of finding a gaming community there. Only Patrons will get access to this, but the regular podcast will still be available as normal. I hope to tell an interesting story of my journey to a totally different country and my efforts to find people to play geeky games with, its going to be a fun experience and I’d love to share it with you.

Guest Jonathan Chey * Jonathan Chey (@Manb0t) | Twitter
This week I talk to Jonathan Chey of Blue Manchu.
This episode is a little bit off the beaten track but there are loads of cross overs into tabletop/painting world. Jonathan’s company creates video games, and I have bumped into his work many times in the past without knowing but recently when I was thinking about good guests for the show I went to a game I have played for a long time called Card Hunter, which is effectively a dungeon crawler card game but in a video game format, but more of that in the show.
Blue Manchu is a group of games developers who create video games, and some games that Jon has been involved with personally in a very integral role have been: Bio Shock, SWAT 4, Freedom force vs 3 reich, system shock 2, wall street tycoon, The Thief franchise (One I particularly love), and many more.
As I said this is a bit of a change of tack but there are lots of crossovers into modelling, and remember you cant be playing or be at your hobby desk all the time so when you arent then I encourage you to check out Card Hunter because it is really fun, & free to play.

This week I talk to Jason Burris, a Paint All The Minis page member and also someone who really cares about developing rpg/tabletop/& board gaming in his community.
As we mention in the show Jason has been living in the same area for many years and has also been going to the same local game store. When he felt that the shop needed him he began to step in to help out in any way he could. Organising leagues, meet ups, painting clubs, youth rpg leagues etc.
It has been great personally to meet Jason as he is a genuine giver, he gives to the community and was one of the people to step forward to add value to what was already in place.
Guest Graham McNeil * Graham McNeill -
This week I talk to Graham McNeil a world famous author best know for his work in the Games Workshop Fantasy and sci fi universes.
What I like most about this podcast is finding out about the person behind the printed names we see on the products we buy. Up until speaking to him, Graham was just a name on a book but I was delighted to find that he is a really nice guy and it actually made me want to follow his work a little more closely. Graham now works with Riot Games’ league of legends IP.
I hope that you all enjoy our ramble.
This week I talk to Stephan Rath, a native of Germany.
Stephan is such a modest person, he explains amazing feats as mere trifles. He is not only a multiple slayer sword winning painter but he is also the creator of a great range of painting handles.
Painting handles as you will hear in the show allow you to brace your hands for fine paint work and also enable you to manipulate your model and paint it without actually touching it yourself. I really enjoy Rathcore holders and backed his kickstarter.

Hey,
Josh and I get back together after another few months of gaming to chat about what we enjoyed.
Remember this is just us and our thoughts, no product placement, advertising, or structured/well thought out reviews.
Literally us just chatting over what we have played over the last few months and the things that stuck with us.
Hope you enjoy!
This week I talk once again to Leo vesperini of Mythic Games. I spoke to him back in episode 54 so if you havent listened to that then I encourage you to do so before you listen to this one.
In our previous chat we talked about 2 kickstarters both he and Mythic Games had been involved in but we didnt really talk about him. So it was great to be able to speak to Leo again to find out more about his personal journey.
His experience differs from a lot of other people in the sense that he got to where he is through the media, writing articles & scenarios and then editing many magazines. Using this experience he then embarked into Mythic Games.
While we talked Leo also announced Mythic Games’ new project Soloman Kane, so listen for that in the second half of the show & you can see the pictures we talk through on our facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PaintAllTheMinis/
This week I talk to Mr Randy Brown, the second of two podcasts I have done with Paint All The Minis facebook page members.
It was a great chat with Randy about his experience and insight & I thank him for giving up some of his leisure time to speak to me.
He is a fine example of th type of memeber we have on our page. Positive, helpful, and enthusiastic about hobbying/playing
This week I talk once more to Ronnie Renton of Mantic Games.
I spoke to him back in episode 44 about his personal history and some of the things that he was up to at the time.
He is a great character so I thought it was high time that I chatted with him again to see whats what. I do enjoy mantic games personally, and we talk about why in the show.
It was great to hear about some of the great things upcoming from them in 2018.
This week I talk to Jody Boudreaux a paint all the minis page member.
Over the christmas period I slung out a message for people who would like to come onto the show and then let the wheel of destiny pick two people. Jody was one of the two people. It was brilliant to talk to him.
His episode is the sort I especially love, we met face to face which I much prefer, we just chatted about the hobby and the things we enjoy. As I always say the podcast is a chat with everyone and not just big wigs in the hobby industry, we all have our stories to tell and it was great fun speaking to Jody.

Guest Bryan Cook * Bolt Action ~ WWPD: Wargames, Board Games, RPGs, LCGs, and more!
This week I talk to Mr Bryan Cook from the island detention centre.
Bryan has had an interesting experience in the hobby and is probably best know to date for his painting tutorials through the bolt action alliance and WWPD group. This is a group of people who create podcasts, news updates, and painting tutorials focusing on ww2 and the Bolt action tabletop game from warlord games.
Bryan and he is the epitome of what we stand for as a Paint all the minis page and podcast. Positive, helpful, modest, insightful, and passionate about the hobby.
I hope you enjoy the show
Guest Léonidas Vesperini * Time of Legends: Joan of Arc by Mythic Games
This week I talk to Mr Léo Vesperini of Mythic games about their 2 most recent games, Mythic Battles: Pantheon, and Time of Legends: Joan of Arc.
Mythic Battles Pantheon was a kickstarter campaign that is currently shipping around the world, and Joan of Arc’s kickstarter campaign has officially finished but it opens for late pledges on January 22nd 2018. So you can pick up both of these games if you so desire.
It was a pleasure to talk to Léo and I really hope you enjoy the show.
This week I talk to Tuomas Pirinen, another gent who I would firmly place in the Legend category when it comes to tabletop games.
Tuomas worked his way up through games workshop in the 90’s and the naughties and amongst other things he was games designer for Warhammer Fantasy and also most notably Mordheim.
He then took a jump into the world of video games. As always it is an interesting insight into the industry but more importantly one of someone who was passionate and enthusiastic to do something he loved.
I hope you enjoy the show!

As you will hear in the show Henry and his pal Owen just decided to make games for fun and to see what happens. It is a great story and I hope that Henry continues to develop his ideas and his game Autokill, a car based skirmish game set in a semi apocalyptical world.
As he mentions in the show he is looking for people to assist in playing/developing the game so if you want to support him then check out the autokill facebook page or the website he gives out in the show.
I hope you enjoy!

He has written a great number of novels & stories that I wont list here but there is a link to his website on the description below so you can go and check him out. It does need to be said that he has both invented and also added to an astonishing amount of the Warhammer world both fantasy and 40k and without him we might not have so many familiar and our most favourite characters and stories. I hope you enjoy the show!https://gavthorpe.co.uk
In this special early release show I talk to Mr Ronnie Renton about all things Mantic. Ronnie formed Mantic about 8 years ago and over that time he has produced some cracking games. What initially drew me to Mantic was the ethos behind the games. As we discuss in the show I have found Mantic games to be very reasonably priced and are also very welcoming, they are not overbearing, they ease you into the action and make the game fun and ingratiating. Mantic currently have an active kickstarter. For the next 5 days until the 17th of November 2017. They are running a project for Kings of war: Vanguard a skirmish game based int he fantasy setting in kings of war. If you have not encountered Mantic or Kings of War before then I encourage you to go and check it out as it offers a great price point for making your first steps, especially when you factor in the stretch goals.Vanguard Kickstarter:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/kings-of-war-vanguard-the-fantasy-skirmish- wargame?ref=nav_searchMantic Website:http://www.manticgames.com
