Our last podcast for season 1 is here! This time, we were delighted to host and collaborate with a Malaysian initiative and pocast show, Songs & Stories! We talked to founders Gina Yap Lai Yoong (author, creative producer) and Juwita Suwito (singer-songwriter) about art, and how it inspires and transforms communities and our cities.
In part 2 of Women and Cities, economist and policy-making researcher Chris Choong helps us to understand the issue of unpaid care work in the context of gender inequality and the economy. He shares insights from the 2019 Time to Care report that he co-authored, which uses time-use survey to attempt to measure and put value in care work. He touches on the concept of social reproduction and women's double burden, and postulates upon the connection between women's travel pattern and the nature of care work. And he suggests ways our government and the private sector could better remedy this 'care crisis', among which is data.
In the spirit of Women's Month in March, we invited two urbanists Rashidah Kamaluddin and Nurul Azreen Azlan to exchange views on the female experience in the city and address the existing inequalities and changes that must be made in the planning world to better accommodate women and their needs.
Urban Poverty has been the topic of discussion for many years, but recently resurfaced due to Covid-19.
In this episode, we talk to Dato' Dr. Madeline Berma, En. Faizul Shariff of PPR Beringin and Alina Amir, co-founder of Arus Academy to deepen our understanding of the matter and its consequence for education. We also explore solutions to uplift communities in need, which we've come to realise would require the involvement of everybody.

On this third episode of Resilient together, we deep dive into the topic of Sustainable Urban Mobility for all. 🚲 As cities develop and as we are seeing through a post-covid lens, we must warrant resilience for our communities through more equitable and cleaner modes of mobility.
Our second podcast is now available and this time we have EPIC on the show! EPIC is known for their flagship project EPIC Homes which builds homes with communities in need over a span of a weekend. The experience they have in building, supporting, co-designing with communities gives them a unique insight on community development.
During the MCO they supported the communities they work with through The Collective of the Orang Asli. We wanted to know more about how they mobilised this initiative and their work in helping communities rebuild and strengthen their foundations to be more resilient in the future.
