Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. The Brookings Institute on the left and the Heritage Foundation on the right agree about one thing: fathers matter. The poverty rate for single parents with children in the United States is thirty seven percent percent. The rate for married couples with children is just seven percent. Being raised in a married family reduces child poverty by eighty-two percent. Brookings says boys are more affected than girls by the lack of a male role model in the family. Heritage says the principal cause of child poverty is the absence of married fathers in the home.
