Obesity is a great problem in Denmark. More andmore Danes reach a BMI greater than 25, which categorizes them as obese. When Icame to Lagos I expected to see a completely different world.
My first thoughts were, that I didn’t see asmany obese people here in Lagos as I would back in Denmark. But after doingsome research on the topic, I’ve come to realize that obesity might be aproblem here in Nigeria, as it’s in Denmark.
Data from WHO (World Health Organization)concludes that an obesity epidemic has hit Nigeria. And the data shows thatespecially the Nigerians living in urban areas suffer from more obesity, thanthe Nigerians that live in the countryside.

World AIDs day as established by the World Health Organization (W.H.O) in 1998, is to raise awareness of the global epidemic of AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) and the spread of HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus), it is always observed on the first (1st) of December every year to facilitate the exchange of information among national, local government, international organizations, and individuals. A radio drama produced by by Media for Bauchi PH Media for CBS on the need for Child birth Spacing (CBS) with support from DevComs and TCI. The drama is among two friends one had 7 children after 9years of marriage, the other has two after 8 years of marriage. The one with 7 children is adamant about FP but his friend took it upon himself to advice him on the benefits of adopting FP. First it will improve the health of his family , the mother will have enough rest and time to take care of the children and the family will spent less on health care. After much debate the family agreed to practice modern child birth spacing and him and his wife visited a FP clinic where they will counselled on the various FP methods

There are indications that the fear of Child Birth Spacing, CBS in the society is gradually coming to an end.
The development might not be unconnected with the fact that the Child birth spacing service is now free and that authorities concerned have intensified awareness campaign on the importance of the Child spacing.
Correspondent Tasi'u Hassan, who was part of the journalists that visited Primary Health Care Centre, Yelwa Domiciliary and Primary Health Care Centre Bayan Fada in the metropolis to ascertain the Child Birth Spacing Services, completes the report.

The Child Birth Spacing which was hitherto been running away from by married men and women, could be said to have seen the light of the day now, due to the number of women of child bearing age accessing the services.
The Officer in charge of Family Planning Unit, Primary Health Care Yelwa, Domiciliary and the in charge of Primary Health Care Centre, Bayan Fada, Hajiya Zulaihatu Sa'id Sambo and Hadiza Ahmed Maikudi, said the number of women accessing the services is quite encouraging.
While about 400 clients visit Primary Health Care Centre, Yelwa Domiciliary every month for the Child Birth Spacing Services, Primary Health Care Centre, Bayan Fada, receive over 500 clients for same services per month.

One thing that remains a challenge to the CBS services in the facilities according to Hajia Zulaihatu Said and Hajia Hadiza Mai Kudi is lack of adequate commodities and consumables.

Some mothers interviewed at the facilities said they practice the Child Birth Spacing in order to maintain their health and that of their children.
Cue in...... Cue out.... A mother of three, Deborah Kepas Arum, said she gave two years interval between her first and second child, and 5 years between the second and the third one, saying she was at the facility to change the method of the spacing, as the previous one has a desired effect on her.
