Greetings! Things are perking up for Fruits and Vegetables Sales! America wants to eat more healthy! So, big box retailers Kroger and Walmart are seeing their Produce sales skyrocket. With all the super high designed Produce sections, it is paying off. Even Meijet Supermarket has redesigned their area and it is a FRESH looking site, IMO. Hopefully, more folks will become more healthy eating more Fruits and Vegetables. Even Kroger has seen a surge on Organic product sales. So, America, keep eating more Healthy! Bravo! The Old Farmers Almanac has a special going on with their Garden Club. I'll go over some Details on that. Make 2020 shine, it is coming soon! Community Gardens can feed into Food Hubs, and, our Farmers need to Diversify more. A new study shows the current growing pattern isn't sustainable for just a few products. I stated this weeks or months ago........more Farm Bankruptcies since 2010 happening. Some could be from Trade. Diversify, IMO.

If you just saw on the PBS TV Show "StartUp" the group from Indiana called the "Garden Tower Project" who does Vertical Gardens, well, next week they are in the house for my expanded Radio Show "Community Garden". Check them out on www.blogtalkradio.com/communitygarden
These folks have a Vertical Garden that has growing space for 50 plants, in a four sq.ft. footprint. You can do several in a warehouse building or other site and start selling to Distributors where you live, your local Grocery stores, or, sell at a Farmers Market. If I remember correctly, they state a 10,000 sq.ft. space of these "Garden Tower Project" Vertical Gardens is comparable to having 5 acres of land to grow product. Now, that is a substantial savings and allows more folks to get in the market to grow and sell FRESHLY grown items. Grow Local. Eat Local.

The kind folks at Charlottesville, Virgina, of the "Local Food Hub" will tell us why they started their Food Hub, who they service, how that impacts their area, how folks are responding to it, what more can be done, and what tips and ideas they have that may help your town start a Food Hub.
The Executive Director will tell us about their Mission to have folks be knowledgeable about Food to make better menu decisions and choices.
If you have a Community Garden network where you live, please do consider doing a Food Hub in your area or town. Do Register with the USDA so that folks can see what your town is doing, there may be companies that will sell or purchase items with you, there may be large Corporations that will lcoate where you are because you want to help the Food System. Have Good Nutrition in your town, support those who Grow Food Locally, and make a difference.

How can folks get access to Farmers Markets. How can towns and cities expand Food access to those challenged to find Good Nutrition to help fight Obesity and Diabetes. One town has an idea.
