On this episode of The Alliance Activity Call podcast, your guest host Alex Abuyuan discusses the three investments in your business: time, money and emotion.

Settle in to hear Abuyuan and his guests Patrick Connors, Mike Lewantowicz and Noelle Lewantowicz talk about how each of these areas impacts your success with The Alliance.

The level you are able to invest in each of these areas is different for everybody. Some people seem to have more time than others, but it’s really a matter of making time to get things done. We all have the exact same amount of time each day. How we choose to spend the time is what separates people from the pack.

Maybe you have a lot of money to invest, or maybe you don’t have a lot of money. Either way, investing in your business is important to growing your income. You might have to be more creative if you don’t have a lot to spend, but it can be done.

Some people put their entire heart and effort into their work. This area is critical too. If you are fully emotional about what you do, then you are more likely to experience a higher level of success.

Figuring out the proper amount of investment in each of these areas will likely dictate your success. Investing in yourself is so important if you really want to be successful. If you don’t make the right investments, then you cannot reach your goals. Finding the right amount of time, money and emotion you need to invest will help you figure out what needs to change for you to be successful.

All investments involve sacrifice. Nothing comes without paying a price in the process. Deciding what you are willing to give up will help determine the level of success you can reach.

Maybe you miss a social gathering, but it allows you to make more money so you can invest in another area that is more important to you than a party.

Maybe an agent calls you from a client’s home and you take the call and help them figure out how to help the person. That took time, but it helped you, the agent and the client. There’s always a tradeoff.

Maybe you had to buy a laptop to help you stay organized and on track. That took some money. It will also pay off if you use it as a tool to help your business. You have to decide what you are willing to give up and what you are willing to invest your time, money and emotion into.

The investment level in these areas can change over time, so you have to be open to changing up where you are investing your resources.

See yourself as a winner even if you aren’t there yet. Believe it will happen and act as if it already has. Work and invest as much as possible when it comes to your time, money and emotion. Know that it will eventually pay off in a big way for you. Keep pushing for your goals. Don’t ever give up. Stay focused on what you want and spend your efforts working for that no matter what. Stop seeking perfection before you take action. Start investing as much as possible so that you reach your goals faster. Sitting idle won’t get the job done. A lot of mistakes and missteps can be overcome with time, money and emotion. If you don’t keep investing when you experience a hiccup, then you can never reach your full potential. Be willing to change how you think and be open to new ideas.

When you realize change starts with you making a decision, then you can move toward success. Decide what you want, come up with a plan to get it and start investing in terms of time, money and emotion to get you there. Be willing to do whatever it takes to be successful.

On today’s episode of The Alliance Activity Call podcast, Andy Albright explains the power of money, how to understand it and how you can harness it!

You have to be intentional when it comes to how you make money work for you. Once you figure out how to put it to work, you can unlock revenue streams in areas you didn’t have previously. A lot of people say it takes money to make money. That is probably true. So, the trick is to get the money first. Then, you have to figure out how to put it in motion to help you grow it. You don’t do this by saving all of it in the bank.

Finding proper ways to invest your money is how you multiply your income and revenue streams. If you are smart about doing this, it happens fast.

Four Ways to Move a Person

1) Motivation to fight (Advice to another person: Get a reason to change your course).

2) Confidence to deal with pressure (Advice to another person: Grow a self-belief to want to compete with others).

3) Emotion to remain enthusiastic (Advice to another person: Grasp a positive feeling to trick yourself through the mundane).

4) Cohesion with the cause (Advice to another person: Generate a heart of gratitude to stay loyal to your goals).

1) Motivation

There are three reasons why people change:

• They have bored with current situation (want a challenge).

• They have suffered enough (need to get free).

• They have been held down (willing to learn more).

2) Confidence

There are three ways to grow a self-belief:

• Focus on the positive (Don't get hung up on your failures)

• Develop competence (Magnify your unfair advantage)

• Win your mind (Self-talk over everybody talk)

3) Emotion

There are three ways to grasp a positive feeling:

• Practice smiling (fool your own emotions)

• Ignore drama (control your own emotions)

• Embrace the moment (choose your own emotions)

4) Cohesion

There are three ways to generate a heart of gratitude:

• Thankfulness (Cohesion between your appreciation and your selflessness)

• Copy (Cohesion between your humility and your effort)

Definition Of Ownership: Being Responsible For Making Sure.

If you are living the definition of ownership, you should easily be able to answer yes to the following questions:

• Do you live how you want to live?

• Do you go to bed at night completely satisfied with your day's effort?

• Do you show up exactly how you want others to show up for you?

The Four "They" Statements That People Say To Avoid Taking Ownership:

1). Why should I try, they are going to do what they want to anyway.

Possible response to reestablish ownership: Do you think you deserve a better outcome?

2). It's not my fault they don't have their act together.

Possible response to reestablish ownership: What does a better outlook look like?

3). I am doing the best I know how to do based on what they have given me.

Possible response to reestablish ownership: Is a better outcome possible?

4). I am just doing what they told me to do.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks about the three Cs to success.

"Commitment is what drives you, Consistency is what disciplines you, and Completion is what rewards you." --Andy Albright

  1. Commitment (when dedication kills excuse)

• Commitment is not measured by how strongly you feel about something, but by what you are willing to give up or dedicate time toward.

Remember: When you make something a priority, sacrifice will soon replace procrastination.

  1. Consistency (when routine kills fatigue)

• Consistency is maintained when you stop living between failure and survival, and start accepting the boring habit of routine.

Remember: When there is reason for the attempt, clarity will soon replace tiredness.

  1. Completion (when winning kills stress)

• Task completion is one of the most fundamental metrics to measure success. Doing the Do is a process, but completing the Do is a win.

Remember: When you chase your dream with a number to hit, obsession will soon replace anxiety.

Settle in and learn as Andy gives you tips to help you improve in these eight areas.

Let's look at each rule ...

Rule 1: Set the example to be the example (Personal Use).

Quote: "A good example is the best sermon." --Ben Franklin

Moral: A visual is worth a thousand advice.

Rule 2: Perform duty to gain result (Work).

Quote: "The reward of one duty done is the power to fulfill another." --George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans)

Moral: The more one treats work as an opportunity, the more chances one has at success.

Rule 3: Lean in to be in (Listen).

Quote: "The weaker we feel, the harder we lean. And the harder we lean, the stronger we grow." --J.I. Packer

Moral: You'll never know what you don't know until you embrace leaning toward the unknown.

Rule 4: Increase knowledge to sharpen mind (Read).

Quote: "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." --Richard Steele

Moral: You become knowledgeable by reading daily, you become sharper by thinking about what you read daily, and you become stronger by implementing what you read daily.

Rule 5: Show up to blow up (Attend All Meetings).

Quote: "Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up." --Brene Brown

Moral: Show up the first time like you're meant to be there and your courage will be introduced to success.

Rule 6: Stay humble to remain thirsty (Be Teachable).

Quote: "Be willing to be a beginner every single morning." --Meister Eckhart

Moral: Success reveals its cup to the teachable, and the teachable are the only ones that remain thirsty enough to drink from its cup.

Rule 7: Accept liability to honor obligation (Be Accountable).

Quote: "Accountability breeds response -- ability." --Stephen Covey

Moral: Personal liability is a statement of personal promise to deliver on defined obligations.

Rule 8: Speak optimism to boost attraction

(Communicate with a Positive Mental Attitude).

Quote: "Who you are is speaking so loudly that I can't hear what you're saying." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Moral: Speaking to hear yourself speak might boost your ego, but it will not leave them begging for more. A well-timed authentic and positive word can change the course of someone's day.

We hope this helps you as you work on improving in all that you do daily. Start using these rules to help you as you work on each of The 8 Steps!

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks to you about you can creating good habits and break bad habits at the same time.

"If your priority to add a good habit is not bigger than your priority to keep a bad habit, then you will never change the path you are on." --Andy Albright

Moral: Adding a good habit is realized when you can see its reward and ignore the pleasure of a bad habit.

Four Ways to Create a Good Habit:

1). Make it obvious (design your environment. Make the cues of a good habit visible).

Example: Stack previous booked appointments and the issue-paid policies in front of you while you dial.

2). Make it attractive (create a motivation ritual. Do something you enjoy immediately before and after a difficult habit).

Example: Before and after dialing have the first half of your favorite dessert and then finish the other half.

3). Make it easy (Prime the environment. Pair an action you want to do which requires less effort with an action you need to do which is rewarding).

Example: Sit in your most comfortable chair, with your favorite music playing, staring out into your most inspiring view, while making your dials.

4). Make it satisfying (Use a habit tracker. Keep track of your habit streak and don't break the chain).

Example: Turn your habit into a routine by keeping score of your successes and creating a contest with yourself.

Four Ways to Break a Bad Habit:

1). Make it invisible (Reduce exposure. Remove the cues of your bad habit from your environment).

Example: Get rid of the TV in your upstairs bedroom.

2). Make it unattractive (Reframe your mindset. Highlight the benefits of avoiding your bad habit).

Example: More reading and sleeping will occur.

3). Make it difficult (Increase friction. Increase the number of steps between you and your bad habit).

Example: Only keep a TV downstairs in the den.

4). Make it unsatisfying (Create a habit contract. Make the costs of your bad habit painful).

Example: Require a fee to be placed in a jar every time you watch the den TV.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks about setting priorities to guarantee success.

The Four Reasons To Set Priorities:

1). Identifies what is important (make a list of those things that need to be done right now).

"The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities." --Stephen Covey

Moral: "Efficiency is doing things right; Effectiveness is doing the right things." --Peter Drucker

2). Helps guide better decision-making (things that are considered the most essential should be classified as priorities first).

"Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least." -- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Moral: "Many things are good, many things are important, but only a few are essential." --David Todd Christofferson

3). Keeps you on track (once the essential needs have been met, the desirable wants in your life can be approached and obtained).

"Priorities dictate our choices, choices shape our wants, and what we want determines our actions." --Andy Albright

Moral: 1st: Establish your priorities (what you choose to do)

2nd: Determine what you want from your do

3rd: Decide what you are willing to exchange for it

4). Gives you confidence to say no (once committed to your priorities, it will give you permission to ignore distraction).

"Dedication to your priorities ensures neglect to all negativity." --Andy Albright

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright brings you Part 2 of his series on how to combat the doubts that create negativity.

In Part 1, we learned about the first three of six negative objections and thoughts a new agent might encounter.

Those were:

1). "Is something wrong with this or is there something wrong with me?"
Advice: Be Decisive - decide to take control of your own narrative.

2). "Why didn't they even want to listen to what I had to offer them?"
Advice: Be Persistent - reject objection with a tenacious pursuit of your own goals.

3). "Is that a multi-level, network marketing, pyramid scheme?" Advice: Be Courageous - challenge the mainstream with your activity.

In Part 2, Andy will share three more objections.

4). "Don't do it. You will lose money and friends."
Advice: Be Responsible - stick to owning the actions within YOUR story. "You either walk inside your story and own it or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worth." -- Brene Brown

Moral:
Don't let your self-worth be decided by caution and driven by warning. Never find yourself answering to others' experiences or explaining others' objections when choosing your own path.

5). "Who is going to buy from you? You will run out of warm market people soon."

Advice: Be Solution-Focused - concentrate on what could go right vs. what could go wrong. Don't spend endless hours analyzing a problem that hadn't happened yet.

"See what is before you. See the here and now. It is the hardest thing. The only thing that counts." --Abraham Lincoln

Moral: Let the focus of the moment drive your future.

6). "I'm busy. I don't have time. I have to spend time with my family."

Advice: Be Adaptable - avoid getting stuck in the trap of others' personal excuses. Don't expend energy and time trying to get into the emotional weeds with them. Quickly move on to the next down, the next pitch, the next point, the next frame, the next golf hole, etc.

"Negativity is not the problem. The problem is the incredible amount of overthinking you're doing with that negativity. Don't give it credence and move on." --Andy Albright

Moral: Train your mind to see the good in everything. Positivity is a choice, but unfortunately so is being miserable.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright wants to talk about knowing when you have a solid person on your team.

Each of the Prospects you work with have to be able to do three things:

• They have to be able to bring their own width without your help -- personally recruit.

• They have to be a team player -- do the 8 Steps.

• They have to be able to take second and third legs -- other than the tap root that you helped build with them -- and take it a minimum of eight levels in depth.

How the 8 Steps Line Up with Team Player Attributes:

  1. Personal Use to become credible (convincing).

  2. Work to become result-oriented (completing).

  3. Listen to become focused (leaning).

  4. Read to become informed (reasoning).

  5. Attend All Meetings to become dutiful (honoring).

  6. Be Teachable to become humble (respecting).

  7. Be Accountable to become answerable (explaining).

  8. Communicate with a Positive Attitude to become motivated (inspiring).

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks about catching a winning spirit.

The winning-type spirit is best summed up in this quote by ex-Green Bay Packers football coach Vince Lombardi:

"Winning is not a sometime thing; it is an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing."

Winning spirit: Something to prove with your attitude and execution

Enthusiasm: passion for life with eagerness and willingness

Ambition: desire for achievement and need for distinction

To get that winning spirit, you need your ambition to stoke your enthusiasm to the point where you feel like you have to prove yourself by winning!

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright comes to you live from The Alliance headquarters in Burlington, N.C. to talk about the "Dream Plan."

The question is: how bad do you want it? You have to know what you want before you can get it.

What extremes are you willing to go through? How far will you go? You have to remember that feeling.

What's your reason? Is it freedom? You must be addicted to having a choice.

The Fact Number One is: the average person earns $2.7 million over their lifetime.

  • The average person spends $50,000 a year and with an average lifespan of almost 75 years this comes to around $3.7 million.

The Fact Number Two is: the average person lives 27,375 days.

  • Take your age and multiply it by 365. Then subtract it from 27,375.

For example: 56 x 365 = 27,375 - 21,170 = 6,205 days left

The Truth is: you do not have plenty of money nor plenty of time.

  • Do you base your decisions on the lack of money?

  • Do you ignore opportunity due to a lack of time?

There’s all kinds of people in the world. You can work with all kinds of people, but knowing the kind of results you will get from people is key if you want to be successful. When you identify a person, you can almost guess the results they will produce based on their work.

Six types of people in our business:

The first two are 75 percent of all people.

1) No-time person (Too lazy to ever be good at anything)

2) Sometimes person (Looking for a free ride)

The next two are 20 percent of all people.

3) Part-time person (Afraid of commitment)

4) Full-time person (Get by OK)

The last two are only 5 percent of all people.

5) All-the-time person (A proven winner)

6) All-their-life person (A constant winner)

Six Reasons Why These People Exist:

1) No-time person (Lacks Trust and Hope)

2) Sometimes person (Lacks Confidence and Identity)

3) Part-time person (Needs more Initiative and Persistence)

4) Full-time person (Needs more Ambition and Enthusiasm)

5) All-the-time person (Has Drive and Discipline)

6) All-their-life person (Has Routine and Habit)

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright covers one of his 8 Steps to Success: Attend All Meetings.

Step 5: Attend All Meetings

"Are you willing to participate in something that increases your chances of success?" -- Andy Albright

Moral:
We fear the path of success much more than success itself.

Two things that effect our participation level:

• Pride - a feeling of satisfaction (self-respect)

• Fairness - a need for impartiality and a need for just treatment

How can you take pride in what you do? By Realizing these Four Principles:

1). Your name is on it

2). Each of us has a role

3). Know what you don't know

4). Know what you know

How can you create a sense of Fairness? By Implementing these Two Ideas:

1). Sameness - where the structure is equal

2). Deservedness - where the opportunity is accessible

If Pride in your work is dominant over your need for Fairness, Success will become attainable.

But if your need for Fairness is dominant over Pride in your work, Success will stay out of your reach.

Most people think they are great listeners, but the truth is that is not the case. How do we become better at listening?

Step 3: Listen

Quote: "Are you willing to listen with your ears and hear with your heart?" -- Andy Albright

Moral: The world is giving you answers each day. Learn to listen for detail with your micro ears and hear for tone with your macro heart.

4 Micro Listening Reminders:

  1. Listen for Main Idea

  2. Listen for Key Details

  3. Listen for Inferences

  4. Listen for Interpretive Meaning

4 Macro Hearing Reminders:

  1. Hear with the Intent to Attract

  2. Hear with the Intent to Validate

  3. Hear with the Intent to Understand

Step 1: Personal Use

"Are you willing to be a walking billboard for what you believe?" -- Andy Albright

Moral: Stand behind your belief by allowing your actions to be bigger than your talk. Your personal usage starts with you setting the example.

Three Questions that indicate you are ready to stand behind your talk:

  1. Are you willing to learn from your past mistakes in order to make better current choices?

  2. Are you using your positive energy to change your current track?

  3. Are you firing up future returns with current investments into your financial engine?

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright delivers three questions to help create duplication live from his house in Treasure Island, Fla.

The 3 Questions are:

Do you lead by example?

Are you good at getting people started?

How do you build a culture of speed?

"It doesn't matter what works, it only matters

what duplicates." -- Oliver Burman

Moral: Your role is to get a large number of people to do a few simple things over a long period of time.

Question 1: Do You Lead By Example?

Reminder:

• People copy what others do more than they listen to what they say.

• People are not as likely to conform to a commitment, as they are to follow another's passion for life.

Question 2: Are You Good at Getting People Started?

Reminder:

• Give them reasons to do.

• Give them expectations to hit.

• Give them tools to be successful.

Question 3: How Do You Build a Culture of Speed?

Reminder:

• Build trust and then transfer that trust into activity.

• Combine urgency (causes a need to change out of fear) with compliment (causes a need to do better out of guilt).

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks about questions that reflect expectations.

Andy has been talking a lot about why agents are not booking 40 appointments weekly, and one of those reasons is expectations. Find out how expectations are a big part of the results you get.

Macro Questions to Impact Expectation:

  1. Do you know what the expectation is?

  2. Do you think you are satisfying the expectation?

  3. Do you feel something else is more important than the expectation?

  4. Do you understand why the expectation is important?

Micro Questions to Enhance Expectation:

  1. Is your journey to success clear in your head and connected to a strategy?

  2. Do you see your success as an urgent reward that will have a significant bearing on your life moving forward?

  3. Are you willing to accept blame for your failures and answer for your mistakes along the road to success?

  4. Will you reinvest in your success by providing support to others and being loyal to the system?

Expectations and work are two keys to success.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright comes to you live from his home in Treasure Island, Fla. to talk about what it takes to be N247RU.

There are four pursuits to achieve this level; which include getting started, selling, recruiting and building a team. Listen as Andy breaks this down for you in an effort to help you find ways to be more effective and successful in your life.

1) The Pursuit of Getting Started:

Education - the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits. The Alliance provides numerous ways for you to learn and educate yourself in terms of insurance products and self improvement outlets.

Application - the act of putting something to use by applying new techniques. The ambitious agent takes these tools and consumes them like a thirsty dog in front of a bowl of water on a hot summer day.

2) The Pursuit of Selling:

Initiative - the power and opportunity to act or take charge before others do. Once an agent recognizes the power to take back their life by selling, the blinders will finally be removed from not seeing future opportunities in this business.

Dedication - the quality of being committed to a task or purpose. Remaining dedicated with a consistent focus is the only way an agent can sustain success in this business.

3) The Pursuit of Recruiting:

Thought - an idea or opinion produced by thinking independently with the mind. An agent's thoughts determine the kind of people they want to attract to the business. So attraction is the bait of recruiting.

Choice - an act of selecting or making a decision with free will. An agent's choices determine the kind of people they need to associate within the business. So association is the reel of recruiting.

4) The Pursuit of Building:

Freedom - the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. An agent will never become free through this business, until they decide to be free. Building a team provides such freedom.

Independence - is the condition of a person to exercise self-governance. An agent will never have independence in this business until they execute the system that allows for independence. Building a team creates such independence.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright comes to you live from his home in Treasure Island, Fla. to share the four behaviors of compassion with you.

"Consider how much your actions will affect not only the outcome, but also the journey of another." -- Author Unknown

Moral: People need you along the path to success more than they need you at the finish line.

The 4 Behaviors of Compassion:

  1. Notice Another's Distress

  2. Connect to Another's Hurt

  3. Respond to Another's Anguish

  4. Replenish Another's Void

  5. Notice Another's Distress Quote: "Now he understood that roads do divide, at the crossroads there is a choice, and blinding oneself to it is a form of choosing too." -- Eric Christian Haugaard from "The Untold Tale"

Moral: Your faith can move mountains, but your blindness can also create them.

  1. Notice Another's Distress

Requires Two Things:

Faith (assurance from being accepting of something you can't see). & Conviction (reliance from depending on something you can see).

  1. Connect to Another's Hurt Quote:

"Words can hurt your feelings but silence breaks your heart." -- C.S. Lewis

Moral: Is tough love better than no love? It is if it spares the heart and moves the agent. Bad feelings will pass, but a broken heart lingers.

  1. Connect to Another's Hurt

Requires Three Things:

Be Attractive (Desire draws others toward you, but one must first learn to like who they are).

Show Affection (Warmth is responsible for whatever solid and durable happiness there is in people's lives).

Create Attachment (the secret to happiness is to get others to bond to something that is bigger than a reward).

  1. Respond to Another's Anguish Quote:

"The role of friendship means there should be mutual sympathy between them, each supplying what the other lacks and trying to benefit the other, always using friendly and sincere words." -- Cicero

Moral: A sympathetic response in the spirit of Mr. Fred Rogers: "I like you just the way you are."

  1. Respond to Another's Anguish

Requires Two Things:

Together Feeling (A Sympathetic Approach). This feeling is represented in two ways: 1. Comfort Zones, 2. Inner Circles

& Fellow Feeling (An Empathetic Approach). When you listen with empathy to another person, you give that person psychological air (giving their voice value).

  1. Replenish Another's Void Quote:

"It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed." -- Napoleon Hill

Moral: The best care for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired than you.

  1. Replenish Another's Void

Requires Two Things:

Restoring (bring back to its former level or condition). & Filling Up (restock or resupply again and again).

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright covers the four behaviors of gratitude and how it can help you.

"Gratitude is riches. Complaint is poverty." --Doris Day

Moral: Once you stop complaining and start being grateful, the light that shines on your life will soften your heart and open your mind; revealing truths that have been hiding from view and leading you toward a richer, more joyful and fulfilling life.

The 4 Behaviors of Gratitude:

  1. Show Appreciation (Affirmation and Agreeableness)

  2. Practice Indebtedness (Acknowledgment and Conscientiousness)

  3. Count Your Blessings (Ready/Willing and Shifting Perspective)

  4. Honor the Opportunities (Altruism and Selflessness)

  5. Show Appreciation Quote:

"The deepest principle of human nature is to be appreciated." --William James

Moral: If we are honest with ourselves, we all want to feel valued for who we are and recognized for our contributions and accomplishments. It's important for us to know that we have made a difference in someone's life.

  1. Show Appreciation

Requires Two Things:

Affirmation ("Thankfulness" shown as support and encouragement). The sociologist Georg Simmel called this: "The moral memory of mankind." We must recognize the root of goodness from outside ourselves with affirmation in order to maintain the goodness inside ourselves.

Agreeableness ("Thankfulness" shown with a cooperative and positive nature). Being agreeable is considered to be a subordinate characteristic of those individuals never believing they are owed anything. Note: Studies show that agreeable people are more apt to be grateful people.

  1. Practice Indebtedness Quote:

"I believe that if you don't desire a deep sense of purpose from what you do, if you don't come radiantly alive several times a day, if you don't feel deeply grateful at the tremendous good fortune that has been bestowed on you, then you are wasting your life. And life is too short to waste." --Srikumar Rao

Moral: It is not the feelings of indebtedness which makes it a virtue. It is the expression of indebtedness through your action, through your repayment, which makes it virtuous.

  1. Practice Indebtedness

Requires Two Things:

Acknowledgment ("Recognition" of fortune). In order for one to master it, you must possess a sense of responsibility and be loyal to what you are validating. This act of paying homage is accomplished by remembering and never forgetting how you arrived at your fortune (from much abundance requires a grateful heart).

Consciousness ("Recognition" of impact). This implies being dutiful and obligated while retuning a favor. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote: "The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common." In order to recognize the importance of the common act done for you, one must view it for its miraculous impact on your life.

  1. Count Your Blessings Quote:

"You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. " -- Elizabeth Gilbert

Moral: We don't have to wait for a tragedy before we become willing to shift our perceptions and see with new eyes the beauty we missed before. Basically, see your blessings before you have to count your blessings. See the opportunity before you count the result.

  1. Count Your Blessings

Requires Two Things:

Being Ready and Willing (To see and accept a miracle). It's our task to see a miracle as an opportunity and accept the privilege to live within one. To live at all is miracle enough. The true fortunate ones are those who can marvel in the last break they just took.

Shifting Our Perspective (From tallying to awareness). Blessings are not meant to be measured or counted. Numbers are for things and blessings are not things. Blessings are sacred gifts. Therefore, "counting your blessings" does not mean tallying them up. Rather, counting your blessings means being aware of their presence.

  1. Honor the Opportunities Quote:

"Present opportunities are not to be neglected, they rarely visit us twice." --Voltaire

Moral: The opposite of neglecting is honoring. The best way to honor the rare opportunity, which could change our lot in life, is with a sense of urgency and a promise made. "Urgency" manifests from the perceived importance of the opportunity and its impact moving forward. "Promise" exists within the self-imposing obligation to the opportunity and the obedience to it moving forward.

  1. Honor the Opportunities

Requires Two Things:

Altruism (Exhibiting a helpful nature). Mature and pure intentions come from profound "altruistic" concerns for the welfare of others. Preacher, philosopher and theologian, Jonathan Edwards claimed that finding the altruism inside of us is the most precise way to discover the evidence of God.

Selflessness (Searching for a way to honor). With a selfless attitude, gratitude transforms into a disposition, which is then one step away from a habit or tendency. This daily practice of gratitude keeps the heart open to looking for ways to honor the privilege to fight the good fight.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright comes to you live from his living room in Treasure Island, Fla. to talk about the four behaviors of community.

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." --Helen Keller

Moral: As Buddha once said: "Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle." A community's candle becomes eternal when it burns to a common cause.

   The 4 Behaviors of Community:
  1. Keep a United Mindset

  2. Promote Joint Ownership

  3. Be a Good Alliance Citizen

  4. Protect the Culture

    1. Keep a United Mindset Quote:

"You can discover more about person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." --Plato

Moral: One can look at building community as being parallel to "having fun." This type of camaraderie indicates that members of the organization feel a sense of friendship and trust toward one another.

Requires Two Things:
  • High Morale (happens when a positive outlook fuels one's confidence, and then that same confident belief transforms into a state of loyalty or willingness to preform tasks). Feeling part of something positive and proven contributes significantly to allegiance.
  • Solidarity (happens when agreement of feeling and action create a state of unity). Having solidarity within an organization requires members to show support for one another. This occurs when it stops being about "I" and "me," and starts being about "us" and "we."

       Promote Joint Ownership Quote:

"Individual commitment to a group effort: that is what makes a team work."

Moral: It's important to emphasize to all agents that every dial, no matter how seemingly insignificant at the time, is valuable to the team's success overall.

     2. Promote Joint Ownership

Requires Two Things:

  • Being Vested (Shared fate creates true advocacy). A communal environment (where we rise and fall together) produces one exchange environment (where we satisfy expectations by delivering results through peer pressure).
  • Being Inclusive (Sense of partnership creates a feeling of fellowship). A partner is to be accepted into and a fellow is to be fitted into. Therefore, a partnership is an association based on a common activity, and when paired with a fellowship, it starts to take on common characteristics.
    3. Be a Good Alliance Citizen Quote:

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." --Thomas Edison

Moral: Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. To maintain your Alliance citizenship you must stay active.

   3. Be a Good Alliance Citizen

Requires Two Things:

  • Participation (Get busy and be more than a spectator). Don't waste your life sitting in a pew or on the sidelines; or being one of those people that just does enough to get by. Sir Issac Newton said in his First Law of Motion: "Bodies at rest tend to stay at rest."

    • Faithfulness (Stay busy by chipping away). Breaking down a task into realistic steps and only doing one at a time allows you to stay in the game and remain faithful with your focus. Neuroscience tells us that each small success triggers the brain's reward center, releasing the feel-good chemical, dopamine. This helps with out concentration and inspires us to take another faithful step.

    • Protect the Culture Quote:

"You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them." --Ray Bradbury

Moral: Complacency breeds stagnation. Once people get comfortable they stop wanting to grow. This lack of want then becomes contagious, bringing high performers back down to mediocrity.

   Requires Two Things:
  • Avoid Gossip (Unintentional ways of speculating without malice). Complacency will cause members to start to channel their new found nervous energy towards backseat driving and second guessing the company's core mission.
  • Avoid Rumor (Intentional ways of spreading untruths with malice). Stagnation will cause members to start to forget a pile of blame and frustration towards a scapegoat which justifies their inactivity and preconceived lack on control.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks to you about the four behaviors of excellence.

The 4 Behaviors of Excellence

Excellence Quote: "The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it." --Henry David Thoreau**

Moral: The price of success or being the best comes with the exchange of the sacrifice you are willing to make.

The 4 Behaviors of Excellence

  1. Be Deliberate
  2. Set the Bar High
  3. Be Proactive
  4. Invest in Your Capacity
  5. Be Deliberate Quote:

"The way into the hall of success always passes through the chamber of decision. Decide to be a success; success is deliberate!" –Author Unknown

Moral: Deciding gives you permission to be deliberate.

  1. Be Deliberate

Requires Two Things:

  • Dedication to a goal (the pursuit itself becomes the center of your life's purpose).
  • Intentionality within the goal (the relentless focus only on what is attached to your purpose).

  • Set the Bar High Quote:

"You never will know how far you can reach until you stretch your desire." --Jeff Bright

Moral: You will never honor expectations until you obtain the desire to accept challenge and the desire to seek completion.

  1. Set the Bar High

Requires Two Things:

  • Passion for a result (getting up every day with something to prove fuels your enthusiasm for achievement.
  • Ambition within the result (your aspirations or goals become driven by a distinctive result, instead of the result being dictated by your hopes and dreams). Ambition tied directly to a result soon becomes an objective and loses its' "one day" mentality.

  • Be Proactive Quote:

"Knowing is not enough. We must apply. Willing is not enough. We must do." --Bruce Lee

Moral: Knowing gives birth to preparation which gives birth to application.
Willing gives birth to boldness which gives birth to doing.

  1. Be Proactive

Requires Two Things:

  • Preparation to run faster (serving tomorrow should not be done with the same quality as serving yesterday).
  • Intensity within the run (the ability to block out the pain of effort is essential to being enterprisingly bold).

  • Invest in Your Capacity Quote:

"Everything comes to us that belongs to us if we create the capacity to receive it." --Rabindranath Togore

Moral: Excellence is realized when your capacity is laced with readiness and filled with appropriate knowledge. You cannot drink from the cup of knowledge if your cup is already full of a big ego.

  1. Invest in Your Capacity

Requires Two Things:

  • Humbleness to the growth (taking pride in your craft is best exhibited with a big fat case of the leaning-ins).
  • Maturity within the growth (having the ability to stop speaking big things and start understanding small things).

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright comes to you live from his home in Treasure Island, Fla. to talk about the importance of recognizing opportunity.

What is Opportunity?

"When a set of conditions or circumstances are favorable for you to make a move or take advantage of an offer."

Recognize the Conditions: Stop thinking as a survivor (victim) and start acting as a thriver (chooser).

Accept as favorable: Stop waiting on a sign (the perfect storm) and start being your own miracle (take initiative).

Move on the advantage: Stop thinking that something should happen (wish as a strategy) and start acting on what is happening (realism as a strategy).

Four Reasons Why People Don't Recognize Opportunity:
  1. Letting your past haunt your present

  2. Ignoring the potential of the present

  3. Using your willpower to manage stress

  4. Not able to focus on the future

       1. Letting Your Past Haunt Your Present Antidote Quote:

"Great moments are born with great opportunity." -- Herb Brooks

Moral: Start letting your future be bigger than your present. But in order to embrace that future, one must let go of the past by utilizing the power of urgency which exists in the moment.

   2. Ignoring The Potential Of The Present Antidote Quote:

"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." --Thomas Edison

Moral: People can't see the present as an opportunity because they only view it as a day separating yesterday from tomorrow. Seeing today as an opportunity requires one to stop reminiscing about the past, and stop fantasizing about the future. Instead, people need to start working with an intentional focus about the 24 hours called the present. Fearing today is only a reason to not work.

    3. Using Your Willingness To Manage Stress Antidote Quote:

"Luck is when opportunity meets preparedness." --Roman Philosopher Seneca

Moral: It is important to stop using all your willpower to manage stress, but rather, saving most of it to use for maintaining your discipline. Luck doesn't happen when you are waiting around on opportunity to show up, but instead, it appears after you have prepared for its arrival. This preparedness comes from the great discipline to master the mundane. Implementing this as a routine, puts you in a position to take advantage of opportunity.

    4. Not Able To Focus On The Future

Antidote Quote: "We are all faced with great opportunity disguised as impossible situations." --John W. Gardner

Moral: Stop waiting for opportunity to Feel right. Instead, let your Do control your discipline. Doing your way into a feel requires more will than confidence. Every situation doesn't have to feel doable, but rather, every situation should be viewed as being doable.

Two Things Happen When You Miss The Opportunity
  1. Doubt sets in and the lack of confidence from your uncertainty causes you to ask:

  2. Why bother? ----> Code for: Life IS Tough.

  3. How can I trust again? ----> Code for: People ARE Cruel.
  4. Who am I fooling? ----> Code for: I AM Depressed.

    1. Procrastination becomes the norm and your excuse for lack of initiative causes you to say:

    2. If I wasn't so tired ----> Code for: I have no energy

    3. But I'm not ready ----> Code for: I hav no purpose
    4. When I find the time ----> Code for I have no belief

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Mike Lewantowicz fills in for Andy Albright, who is traveling on business this week, to talk about what it means to take ownership.

This is How I See the Definition of Ownership:

Whatever you're doing, you take full and complete responsibility for making sure that whatever is supposed to happen does happen.

It doesn't matter if your upline is an idiot or the carriers have a bad attitude. The only thing that matters is that YOU give it your all and that YOU make sure that you've done everything in your power to generate that outcome.

If you are living the definition of ownership, you should easily be able to answer yes to the following questions:

  • Do you live how you want to live?
  • Do you go to bed at night completely satisfied with your day's effort?
  • Do you show up exactly how you want others to show up for you?

4 Reasons Why People Don't Take Ownership:

  1. They're not interested in taking ownership
  2. They don't want to take ownership
  3. They don't know they're not taking ownership
  4. They don't have the skills to take ownership
  5. They’re not interested in taking ownership:

Many roles don't require people to exceed expectations, just deliver what's needed. So this shifting focus of our problems onto other people and things allow us to perpetuate the myth that we are fated to live our inevitable lives with no control over the outcome.

"They're going to do what they want to anyway."

Note:The "They" represents the people in charge.

  1. They don't want to take ownership: It's a simple trap to fall into. It feels easier to blame others for our circumstances than to shoulder the blame. But by blaming other people or things, we give away our power. Ultimately, this way of thinking, left unchecked, becomes quite intentional. It might even become Machiavellian, employing devious and ingenious methods to avoid doing what is needed to be done.

"It's not my fault that the company doesn't have its' act together."

  1. They don't know they're not taking ownership: Do people know what taking ownership is actually like? Maybe they think they're performing well. Maybe they don't realize they're actually not doing what is expected of them. This condition is called "unconscious incompetence" and it stems from a lack of feedback. Be clear about what "good" looks like in their role.

"I am doing the best I know how to do."

  1. They don't have the skills to take ownership: People might actually be unaware of their lack of skill and just quietly struggle on, unable to identify why they can't seem to get it. Therefore, taking ownership requires getting others to know what they're taking ownership of. Also, this means motivating them to do more than just what they're told.

"I am just doing what I have been told."

The Role of "Locus of Control" in Taking Ownership: How we think and act is determined by many factors including our belief system, personality, upbringing, and behavioral tendencies. But our ability to influence our own circumstances is governed by our locus of control. This locus of control is either:

Internal or External?

Internal Locus of Control: This type determines your level of personal responsibility. You're more likely to hold yourself accountable and work hard for the things you want.

Realization from Internal Locus:

"No one was put on this earth to make me happy."

External Locus of Control: Within this type, you tend to blame external factors for your circumstances. You see other people or things as reasons for not achieving your own goals.

Realization from External Locus: "I am not happy, so somebody owes me some happiness."

If you're ready to make a change, here's how:

  • Notice Your Blaming Tendencies by saying, "What is my role in this?"
  • Focus on Solutions by saying, "How can I?" vs. "I can't."
  • Practice Your Power of Choice by saying, "I choose not to be a victim anymore."
  • Become Accountable by saying, "Nobody owes me anything."
  • Try Discomfort by saying, "Change never happens in my comfort zone."

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright comes to you live from his home in Treasure Island, Fla. to talk about the importance of edification.

The word used for Edification in the New Testament is Oikodomé, which translates literally as "the building of a house." The word appears in the King James Bible about 20 times where later translations shorten the phrase to mean "building up."

The Webster's Dictionary definition of edify is "to instruct (educate) and improve (enlighten) another's capacity and perspective."

According to Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament words, edify means "spiritual growth (understanding) and development (encouraging) of character."

Instruct/Growth:

Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance (support) of his friend."

Improve/Development:
Hebrews 3:13, "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

Edification formula: Instruct + Improve = Edification

Instruct through education to create growth through understanding in order to impact another's capacity (to know the possible).

Improve through enlightenment to create development through encouraging in order to impact another's perspective (to see the possible).

Edification (building up)

Tough-love edification: Edification occurs when the potential in me reaches out to connect to the potential in you. However, edification is not always warm, fuzzy and comfortable feelings of encouragement.

For example: This development of another happens when a veteran agent kindly, but toughly, tells you that you are wrong or mistaken. But first, that rookie agents need to be vulnerable (allows yourself to be exposed) and correctable (not needing to be right).

Proverbs 27:6, "Wounds from a friend are better than many kisses from an enemy."

Through fellowship we can cover each others' back, sharing our expectations and disappointments of each others' effort to honor this community with work.

Maturity Requires Edification:

For some, this ability to be vulnerable and correctable (or what we call leaning in) will not be easy. It will require a form of maturity that only occurs after a growth of understanding of the bigger picture takes place.

Being teachable (tell me why) must be the prerequisite to being developed (tell me how).

Remember: Beat them to the why if possible (anticipate).

2 types of edification based on one's identity:

Edification of activity/results (work) + Action-driven identity = Initiative

Edification of values/behaviors (integrity) + motive-driven identity = initiative

Build up the reward of tomorrow because of their commitment (8 Steps) to the present.

These people need something to do to find meaning in what they accomplish

"I will (Drive) therefore I can (Confidence)."

Build up the chance of tomorrow due to their cause (8 values) of today.

These people need some- thing to be to find purpose in why they take action.

I can (Confidence) therefore I will (Drive)."

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright discusses the importance and power of association.

The Collaboration Formula: Affiliation + Association = Collaboration

Affiliation (Finding connection where First Impressions matter): the act of engaging or bonding with comes with a need for attachment.

Association (Finding fit where Leaning In matters): the act of consorting or joining with comes with a need of inclusiveness.

Collaboration (Finding common ground where Shared Values matter): the product of fellowship or community comes with a need of unity.

Affiliation: "Unhealthy cultures create disconnect. Healthy cultures create social bonds." -- Simon Sinek

Moral: Affliction based on disconnection will eventually turn into mistrust and disloyalty, but affliction based on a social bond will forever produce management and invite attachment.

Association: "He that walks with wisemen shall be wise; but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." -- Proverbs 13:20

Moral: Associating with negative people creates negative thought, and associating with positive people creates positive thought.

Collaboration: "Without the sense of collaboration with people of like mind ... life would have seemed to me empty." -- Albert Einstein

Moral: The power of all minds fixed on a common cause is endless and fulfilling.

The 2 Types of Associations:

 1. Communal Relationships- close relationships in which members suspend their need to equity and exchange, giving support to the member in order to meet his or her needs, and without consideration of costs to themselves.
  1. Exchange Relationships- reciprocal relationships in which each of the members keep track of his or hers contributions to the partnership.

YIN (cold/fluid) and YANG (warm/dry) and the concept of Dualism:

It describes how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary and interconnected in the natural (Alliance) world.

"Wheat field is Yang, but once it is harvested, it becomes Yin."

"Communal is Yang, but once it is exchanged, it becomes Yin."

Nothing is completely Yin or completely Yang. Each aspect contains the beginning point for the other aspect. For example, day becomes night and then night becomes day. Yin and Yang are interdependent upon each other so that the definition of one requires the definition for the other to be complete.

Yin (job mentality) relies on Yang (moral aurthority) as Yang (your word) relies on Yin (your effort).

There must be balance between the two. A river (the fluid Yin) must be willing to flow into a basin (the dry Yang); and the warm basin must be willing to accept the cold river.

The Alliance's Secret Recipe: Job Mentality + Moral Authority = A Healthy and Thriving Culture

Job Mentality (Do Your Job): Living up to your expectations by honoring your commitment to work with the Exchange Relationship.

Moral Authority (Walking With Maturity): Providing a high character example by promoting a safe environment within the Communal Relationship.

That leads to a Healthy and Thriving Culture.

The Alliance's healthy and thriving culture is where members feel everything is going to be alright. If you make enough noise someone will hear you. It is where members accept the calling to act, and no one shirks their duties to "Do the Do."

Our culture requires that we "Have Fun, Make Money and Make A Difference."

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks about the importance of duplication and the role it plays in success.

WHY DUPLICATION MATTERS IN ORDER TO SUSTAIN YOUR BUSINESS:

"It doesn't matter what works, it only matters what duplicates." -- Oliver Burman

Your role is to get a large number of people to do a few simple things over a long period of time.

But How Do You Actually Go About Creating Duplication?

Well, There Are 3 Steps You Can Use:

  1. Lead by Example
  2. Get People Started
  3. Create a Culture of Speed

    1. Lead by Example Quote:

"In trying to make something new, half the undertaking lies in discussing whether it can be done. Once it has been established that it can, duplication is inevitable." -- Helen Gahagan Douglas

1. Lead by Example Explanation:

Your team won't sell if you are not selling. They won't recruit if you are not recruiting anymore. So Remember:

  • People copy what others do more than they listen to what they say.
  • Get your hands dirty (Have a track record and know your trade).
  • Blame rolls uphill so take responsibility for your mistakes as well as your team's errors.

    2. Get People Started Quote:

"Success without duplication is merely future failure in disguise." -- Randy Gage

    1. Get People Started Explanation:

Your team will never create duplication if all you do with them is sign them up and then wait for them to start. Help new agents as well as existing agents get over the top and stay over the top by:

  • Revalidating their reason to do insurance.
  • Giving them proper expectations to hit.
  • Introducing them to effective tools of the trade.
       3. Create a Culture of Speed Quote:

"Life is a mirror that magnifies. What we see out there is only a duplication of what we are inside." --David Wolfe

Create a Culture of Speed Explanation:

When your team thinks of this business as fast moving, an internal momentum will be created. In order to sustain such speed, you must create an environment where people want to change and get better by doing the following:

 • First build trust with the people you meet, then transfer that trust you have with them into the activity to be successful.

 • Combine urgency with compliment and the person will have a hard time responding negatively.

   12 REASONS PEOPLE DON'T DUPLICATE:
  1. Can't separate their future from their past.
  2. Don't believe things can get better for them.
  3. Don't have a complete sureness of their ability.
  4. Don't like who they are.
  5. Will not take the first step to set things in motion. 6. Will not stay determined through the storm.
  6. Don't desire distinction and achievement.
  7. Can't show the eagerness and passion for life.
  8. Don't have the hunger to recognize opportunity. 10. Don't fear the consequences of their actions.
  9. Will not conform to a commitment.
  10. Will not become obsessed with the boring.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright comes to you live from his home in Treasure Island, Fla. to talk about why success matters to the team.

Success matters. If it didn't, then we wouldn't keep score in pretty much everything we do.

Where do you begin your successful journey?

"Real success requires us to drive into uncertainty. You will never find what you don't know yet, by just looking in places you know." -- unknown

THE PATH:

Trust - the path that ensures reliability.

Initiative - the path that accesses effort.

Drive - the path that recognizes opportunity.

Ways to start trusting:

1. Disconnect from the past (Stop looking for old answers in new places).
  1. Rely on the present (find connection with the moment by learning to ride the waves instead of trying to change the tide).
  2. Expect better from the Future (let go of the attachment to the results of yesterday and start trusting the activity of tomorrow).

Trust: In order to believe in this path, one must be willing to separate their future from their past. This happens when

you stop looking for old answers in new places. When one starts to trust the path they are on, they find reliance in the connection of the present, they are able to disconnect from the Ghost of Christmas Past and they start to expect a better future. By trusting more and pushing back less, you learn to ride the waves instead of trying to change the tide. Letting go of your attachment to the results, frees yourself up to concentrate on the process of trusting your activity.

Ways to Take Initiative:

Be ready to embark (take on ) in new activities (willingness will ignite persistence).

Be able to impel (force) yourself down the path (push will ignite ambition).

Initiative: It is the introductory step or leap of faith to set

things in motion. Initiative, therefore, is your readiness to embark on new ventures. Being ready to take that first step impels your drive to kick in and pushes you further down the path. Initiative serves as the inner power or energy that pushes you toward acting and achieving. It has as much to do with persistence and ambition, and if they are absent, initiative will be absent too. Often, a person has the persistence and ambition to get something done, but will lack the initiative (push and willingness) to take action to begin with.

Ways to Feed Drive:

Acknowledge the urgency of the moment (the critical nature of an action).

Stir the fire in the belly (the physical feelings of excitement).

Drive: It feeds momentum to your discipline, once it understands the magnitude of the moment. Acknowledging

the urgency and critical nature of an action, may awake the drive in an individual, but it will not sustain itself without a need to achieve. People who lack a fire in the belly (physical feeling of excitement), and who need a shot in the arm (improves a person's focus), also lack drive. These individuals, at this juncture, need a swift kick in the ass (tough love) if you truly care about them becoming functional in society.

How should you travel on your journey to success?

"When nothing seems to help, I go look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the blow that did it, but all that had gone before." -- Jacob Riis

Hope - the vehicle that compels us to take another step.

Persistence - the vehicle that produces the results.

Discipline - the vehicle that trains your intention.

Ways to Ignite Hope:

Start looking forward with desire (what is wanted can be had with a little more effort).

Start believing things can get better (sustains your actions by providing them breath).

Hope: It is the feeling that what is wanted can be had by looking forward with desire. Hope is what tells us that a little more effort will get us there. It keeps us going. But you can't just tell someone to have hope. They must believe that things can get better. This belief sustains our actions by providing them breath.

Ways to Find Persistence:

Sticking to a task regardless of instant progress (most people give up before they see results).

Stop waiting on a miracle (the scales will NOT tip in your favor without work).

Persistence: It says just keep working at it. Without it you are just waiting on a miracle. Therefore, it comes from not giving up and sticking to something regardless of instant progress. That is the tipping point: where is seems like everything you have been doing is in vain, but just a little more effort tips the scales in your favor and results start to come faster and faster. Most people, however, give up before the tipping point.

Ways to Sustain Discipline:

Remain laser focused to build conditioning.

Control your emotions to build determination.

Prioritize your actions to build dedication.

Discipline: It provides you the ability to remain laser focused, to be in control of your emotions, and able to prioritize your actions. Think of discipline as the conditioning behind your success. The more times you repeat the investment of using your determination to build your dedication, eventually you will not have to think about the goal at the end. The powerful conditioning effect of discipline will keep you from falling off your journey's pathway in a vehicle that is now on cruise control.

What fuels your journey to success?

"To fuel ambition and to act upon it is to embrace the unique calling of our souls. Not to act with confidence upon that ambition is to turn our backs on ourselves and on the reason for our existence." -- Steven Pressfield

THE GAS:

Confidence - the gas that assures one's certainty.

Ambition - the gas that sparks one's goals.

Routine - the gas that organizes one's behavior.

Ways to Embrace Confidence:

Love the chase (rely)

Stay hungry (remember)

Grab your edge (recapture)

Confidence: It is your ability to embrace the Amateur in your memory. The word amateur comes from the Latin to love what you do. This type of love for the game or chase fuels your confidence, and allows you to see the same old present rut with fresh eyes from a past perspective. This is only accomplished by staying hungry and remembering what it was like to actually be hungry (recapturing your eye of the tiger). You were your strongest when you were struggling. That edge groomed you with a blanket of confidence for a future of challenges.

Ways to Capture Ambition:

Make your goals a target.

Make your target a purpose.

Make your purpose a routine.

Ambition: A goal is the target set by a person, and ambition is a desire to reach that goal. A goal is what it takes to pay your bills, but ambition is why you do the what (the steps). This why (the purpose) keeps you from complaining while pursuing a goal. If your ambitious why is bigger than the what, then you will never grow tired of a routine.

Ways to Accept Routine:

Decide what you want (discipline your passion with priority).

Consistently do the same thing (discipline your time with process).

Routine: This acceptance of a fixed program is the indication of an intelligent person as well as a sign or evidence of ambition existing in that person. The best way to discipline someone's passion or ambition is to discipline their time with routine. Decide what you want or ought to be doing to further forward progress, then always do it consistently the same way and at the same time everyday (mastering the mundane), and passion or ambition will give you no trouble. Therefore, routine must become a process that is never renegotiated and must be treated as a priority.

If you put all this together then you are putting yourself on the right road to find yourself with a full tank of gas that can help you create a success-filled journey with The Alliance.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright shares why the dream matter to the team.

8 Things That Happen When You Finally Decide to Live Your Dreams ...

You'll see "IT" everywhere

Once you commit to living your dreams, the lids blinding your eyes will be lifted. A completely new world will be opened to your view. You will notice opportunities that have been in your reach all along, ones your conscious mind simply didn't pay attention to. "Selective attention" is the process of focusing on a particular object in the environment for a certain period of time. Attention is a limited resource, so selective attention allows us to tune out unimportant details and focus on what matters.

You'll Have Boundless Energy, Fueled By Purpose

"I'm reflective only in the sense that I learn to move forward. I reflect with a purpose." --Kobe Bryant

After you've crossed the threshold of decision, you will find a new wellspring of energy. You'll no longer need to rely on willpower. Willpower is garbage. It is for amateurs. It's for people still conflicted about what they want to do. Once you've moved beyond WILL and onto WHY, you no longer have to coax yourself into action. The decision has been made. Rather than focusing on defense against further damage, failure or risks, you're now on the offense.

You'll Stop Worrying About -- and Instead Anticipate -- the Future:

"Your future is as bright as your faith." -- Thomas S. Monson

Once you've made your decision to move forward, you have nothing to worry about. You are a magnet for attracting nothing buy brilliance. You're no longer chasing happiness, but rather creating happiness in others. You know success is inevitable, because you're in alignment with who you are and you like that person. You can have happiness in your life as long as you are willing to give up what you hate.

People will Enter your Life to Help You: "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." -- Unknown

You will begin attracting the right people in your life when you start doing the work. Also, when you are on a dedicated mission, people will come to your aid to help you make it real. It begins with initiative and openness. Initiative requires you to be bold and openness requires you to remain humble. You will become a beacon of light for others when they witness the boldness in your work ethic, and the humbleness in your leaning in.

Nothing will Seem Impossible to You:

"You need to aim beyond what you are capable of. You need to develop a complete disregard for where your abilities end." -- Paul Arden

Believing something is impossible is arrogant. It was arrogant of people to believe we'd never fly. It was arrogant of people to believe we'd never put man on the moon. It was arrogant of people to believe we wouldn't have satellites in the sky guiding global communication. We don't know what we don't know. Why put a cap on what's possible? Why live in the past??? Anything and everything could happen. And being open to that fact allows you infinitely more options than those who put an invisible barrier on possibility.

Luck/Miracles will Become Commonplace:

"Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Similarly, Bruce Springsteen said, "when it comes to luck, you make your own." Dan Sullivan said, "Luck and God favor those with good habits." When you decide to live your dreams, you start to expect radical and amazing stuff to happen. Some will call you lucky. Others will call you blessed. Whatever the case, it's your new normal defined by your work effort. Beyond this point of luck, is the point of no return called freedom. Freedom from triviality and mediocrity. No longer will you be able to engage in gossip or other destructive activities. These things simply will not make sense to you anymore, and complete focus will become your new luck and blessing.

You'll No Longer Fear Success or Wealth:

"Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." -- Marianne Williamson

The most crippling and pervasive fear is the fear of success. Fear of success is far more dangerous than fear of failure. People fear success because of low self-esteem and feeling of not deserving it; and because it will increase what others expect of them. Fear of success shows up as: anxiety, indecision, avoidance, procrastination, and acceptance of mediocrity. But once you have a compelling vision, you will stop entertaining these thoughts. You then can start focusing on yourself and realize your success is your right, it is inevitable, and it's essential for accomplishing what you feel inspired to accomplish.

You'll Consistently Do What's Right, Even When It's Not Popular:

"100-percent commitment is easier than 98-percent commitment." -- Clayton Christensen

Most people can eat healthy for one day. Most people can be positive for a few minutes. But when things stop being fun, most people's resolve crumble. Consistency in your activity must become the evidence behind the belief in your dream. Once you justify inconsistent behaviors, you open the door to a lifetime of justifications. Making the exception the rule creates a reason to introduce new and constructive habits which will fuel your dream.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright dives deep into how you can measure your progress when it comes to the 8 Steps and your goals.

Why measuring progress toward doing the 8 Steps is tricky:

The 8 Steps need to align with your inner needs and motives. If we don’t set goals to achieve these steps which are autonomous – that is, they come from our own motivations rather than being set for us by someone else – than we’re less likely to stick with said goals.

The steps need to be viewed as Growth goals vs. Maintenance goals. Growth goals are those that we look forward to achieving. Maintenance goals are those that we must do to maintain the current state in order to avoid negative consequences. Wanting to change (seeing the positive impact in said change) has a more lasting effect on sustaining the 8 Steps vs. Dreading to Change (seeing the negative inconvenience of said change) which contributes to the procrastination of the 8 Steps.

Akrasia is the state of acting against your better judgment. It is when you do one thing even though you know you should do something else. Loosely translated, you could say that akrasia is a lack of self-control. It is what prevents you from following through on what you set out to do. The reason for akrasia has to do with a behavioral economics term called: Time Inconsistency. This refers to the tendency of the human brain to value immediate rewards more highly thank future rewards. This is one reason why the ability to delay gratification is such a great predictor of success in life. Understanding the pull of instant gratification and being able to resist it helps you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

Introduction of commitment devices can help lock you in future 8 Steps behaviors. It is a choice you make in the present that controls your actions in the future. For example: you can reduce overeating by purchasing food in small, individual packages rather than in bulk size. In other words, find ways to automate your behavior beforehand rather than relying on willpower in the moment. Be the architect of your future actions, not the victim of them.

Reduce the friction of starting with the 8 Steps by building habits of reacting to process praise which is related to the method taken and not “person praise” which is related to the individual. Getting started and staying started are directly correlated to receiving praise related to HOW progress is being achieved (strategy driven). Getting started and staying started are not correlated to the praise received of WHY progress is being achieved (purpose driven).

Person example: Excellent! You must have a natural talent!

Process example: Excellent! You must be using some really effective methods!

Moral: While it is natural for the people you love and respect to praise you after you announce an intention to accomplish, studies suggest that when someone praises you for an inherent trait such as initiative or ambition, it isn’t very helpful to finishing the task of kicking the can down the road. Further, in some cases, it may be less motivating than receiving no praise at all, particularly after you experience failure. This setback guilt could negatively affect your motivation to start another step or achieve another goal. Focus on the process by saying: that’s awesome! Practice that step daily and report back your progress weekly.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright talks about why you must remember your "why."

Being successful: 80 percent of American business owners believe they will or have reached their financial goals.

vs.

Feeling successful: The same 80 percent of American business owners don't feel they are successful.

Those 80 percent American business owners know what they do/did to become successful and they know/knew HOW they did it. But, for the majority, they no longer remember WHY.

Achievement: It is something you reach or attain, like a goal. It is something tangible, clearly defined and measurable. It comes when you pursue and attain WHAT you want -- becoming rich/happy.

vs.

Success: It is a feeling or a state of being. It comes when you are clear in focus of the WHY you want -- being rich/happy.

What should happen when building a business?

We become confident in what we do (the 8 Steps)

We become experts in HOW we do it (Millionaire Maker Manual)

We become complete when we remember WHY we do it (Inside The Circle)

The single greatest challenge any organization will face is ... SUCCESS

The goal is to ensure:

the measurement of the WHAT

the objective of the HOW

the clarity of the WHY

so that they stay closely aligned.

The reasons so many small businesses fail ...

is thinking that job mentality (execution of your duties) is only fueled by passion:

For a business to survive, the passionate vision (WHY) needs a structured mission (How). And for that structure (HOW) to exist, it needs processes (WHAT) to create the expectation.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Be careful NOT to let your WHY go fuzzy:

This will happen when you start to split WHY you exist (P.I.E.) from HOW you do business (Sell, Recruit, Build). In The Alliance, we help guard against this by marrying our WHY and HOW with or 8 Core Values (the House book). These values, and practicing them, bridges our reasons (WHY) with our practices (HOW) so that they don't operate independently or mutually exclusive of each other.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright drives deep to discuss the importance of belonging with others because of your 'why.'

Leading With Your Why: The Emergence of Trust

With trust comes a sense of value; real value, not just values equated with money. Value is the transference of trust. You earn trust by communicating and demonstrating that you share the same values and beliefs. You have to talk about your why and prove it with what you do.

Why is just a belief, HOWs are the actions we take to realize that belief, and WHATs are the results of those actions. When all three are in balance, trust is built and value is perceived. The why and the what make up the ends of a SeeSaw, with trust being the single pivot point. The HOWs with their two types of actions (values vs. convictions) drive the weight of the two ends in and out of balance.

WHY people who respond to praise should lead off with expectations.

EXAMPLE: People that need constant love and attention should start their conversations off with expectations that they need from people, then move to giving praise to people.

Set expectations first and then offer praise at the end. If they don’t, the front end is overloading with love and praise and the message of the expectations is lost.

WHAT people who respond to expectations should lead off with praise.

EXAMPLE: People who have high expectations should lead off conversations with love, support, compassion and praise before they get down and dirty with what they expect of people.

When you don’t offer support early in a conversation, people often shut down before they realize what is expected.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright discusses how belonging with others impacts your 'why.'

The "need" to belong is a very basic need. It is a feeling we get when those around us share our values and beliefs. When we feel like we belong, we feel connected and safe. As humans, we crave this feeling and seek it out.

Simon Sinek ("Start With Why") talks about The Golden Circle in his famous book. He created a three-tier circle that goes from "Why" in the center and works outward to "How" and finally "What."

Why (vision) involves the limbic (emotions) part of your brain. This stimulus is a cause and the effect of it provides a spark inside you.

How (the mission) deals with the cerebrum (thinking) of your brain and the cause is space, which deals with the endowments that Albright talked about on Wednesday's The Wednesday Call podcast.

Finally, our What (results) takes us to the neocortex (actions) part of the brain. Here the cause is our response, which leads to our reaction to the results.

What vs. Belonging

What others do and what they accomplish may have appeal, but it doesn't equate to belonging.

The WHAT or Neocortex part of the brain is the rational side of the brain. It communicates what we do with facts and figures. It is driven by a need to understand. This offers us our analytical reasons to take action.

How vs. Belonging

The HOW is what lets others form a bond of belonging. It contributes to the strength of our community. Having a HOW or moral compass. This aligns with our WHY. It empowers our capacity to be: proactive, mature, disciplined and open.

HOW SPACE: The Four Human Endowments

Self Awareness --> Be proactive in your thinking

Conscience --> Be mature in your choices

Independent will --> Be disciplined with your controls

Creative Imagination --> Be open with your judgments

WHY vs. BELONGING

When others clearly communicate why they believe it creates an extraordinary need to belong.

The WHY or Limbic part of the brain: This is the part of the brain that controls our feelings, which has no capacity for rational thought.

Combine Your Golden Circle: working from the inside out

Start with WHY (feeling to believe)

+

Align your HOW (principled to believe)

Do the WHAT (reason to believe)

= Belonging and Committed to a Cause

CONCLUSION: People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it.

This is how you win hearts and minds. The heart represents the limbic brain, and the and is the rational part of the brain (neocortex).

Most companies are very good at winning minds (requires comparison of features and benefits only). The ability to win hearts takes more work. An absent of a why makes it harder for one to accept and feel a sense of belonging to the rational feature and benefit.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright wants to talk about what it takes to be a winner. The Alliance loves winners. And by winners, that means people that are fanatical about winning. They love to win. They don’t give up. They strive to do their best, and they empower others to do the same. They are committed to winning.

It is more about opportunity and support and less about talent. On page 15 of “Outliers” by Malcom Gladwell, he writes about oak trees growing in the forest. The tallest oak in the forest is the tallest not just because it grew from the hardest acorn; it is the tallest also because: No other trees blocked its sunlight. The soil was rich around it and deep. No rabbit chewed through its bark when it was a sapling. No lumberjack cut it down before it matured.

We all know that winners come from hardy seeds. But, do we know about the sunlight that warmed them, the soil in which they put down roots and the rabbits and lumberjacks that were lucky enough to avoid them?

Let’s look at this deeper. Sunlight is opportunity. Each year there is a Winter Solstice - it occurs when one of the earth’s poles has its maximum tilt from the sun. The shortest day of the year is seven hours and 49 minutes – marking the start of winter. Even on the shortest day of the year, we have seven hours and 49 minutes to get it done.

Attachment (assimilating) causes or contributes to conformity (peer pressure) and overcomes disfunction. When you add that with commitment (dedication) it causes or contributes to obedience (loyalty) and overcomes deviation.

The soil is our support. The external involvement (association) means working with like minds and causes. It contributes to connection (routine) and overcomes distractions. When you add this to internal belief, it gives a higher purpose (trust) in what’s right or causes and contributes to morality (moral compass) and overcomes detractors.

What about luck? We call it being blessed. This is a label that points out an event’s positive and negative effects. These improbable events happen by random chance … or do they?

Winners know how to take a seed, put it in the ground and put it in an environment where it can grow!

The four Ds to avoid if you want to succeed: Dysfunction, Deviation Distractions and Detractors.

When you can get rid of these things in your life or a person’s life, you are setting up the recipe for success. You can create bonds with people that allow them to grow like that giant oak tree that somehow made it way up high when so many other trees fell short. Creating great bonds with people will help people win.

On this episode of The Alliance Activity podcast, Andy Albright is joined by Damon West, an author and motivational speaker who will be a keynote speaker at National Convention in January of 2020.

Albright had West on to talk about his book, “The Change Agent,” and to talk about what he will share with The Alliance at NatCon 2020 in Burlington, N.C.

West was a star high school quarterback, got a scholarship but was injured. He suffered from substance abuse, which led him down the wrong path in life and landed him in prison eventually.

West talked about the importance of being a servant leader in life and business. West believes that God granted him a second chance to do something with his life. He wants to make the most of the opportunity to reach other people who are struggling with where they are in life. West wants to serve others in any capacity possible. He believes doors open when you do what you believe God is asking you to do.

Positive energy creates more positive energy. Damon West plans to bring even more positivity to The Alliance at NatCon 2020. West wants to show people how to become like a coffee bean. He wants to help people change their mindset. He wants to take your belief level to a place you didn’t think was possible. West wants you to become the best version of you right now. Most people have everything they need to be successful inside of them, but we have to help get it out of them.
