Personal financial management is a topic that many people really don’t want to touch with a ten foot pole. A lot of the time, the reason for this is that as a society, we’re just not taught how to manage our own money. For those of us who are lucky to have extra to invest, we feel that we need to hire a financial advisor or investor to do the work for us.

While that might be helpful, it’s not a great plan to simply give up the responsibility for our own portfolio. Since the world runs on money, we all should have a good fundamental knowledge of how the game works.

In this session, Veronica and I speak with Tess Wicks. Like many others, Tess didn’t grow up really thinking about money. In fact, the only reason she started learning about the subject was through necessity due to her major and future career.

However, that career didn’t last long. After realizing she wasn’t cut out of the 9 to 5 world and could help others with their knowledge of money, she set out on a mission to educate.

In our chat, we learn about the illusion of job security, her unique digital nomad lifestyle, and why it’s important to set goals in our finances as entrepreneurs.

Having a healthy lifestyle is something that is brought up time and again in pop culture. However, with all the temptations of fast food, taking it easy, and dealing with stress, many people just simply struggle to do what’s best for them.

Having a healthy lifestyle is something that is brought up time and again in pop culture. However, with all the temptations of fast food, taking it easy, and dealing with stress, many people just simply struggle to do what’s best for them.

However, once you do figure out how to live healthier and learn how to live a positive mindset, achieving your goals gets that much easier. Main reason why is that you won’t constantly feel lethargic and out of energy.

In this session, Andy and I talk with Cyndi Walter who figured out at an early age that looking at the positive side of things makes life not only easier, but more fulfilling as well. Pair that with her experience in the direct sales world since she was in school and it’s no wonder that she has the ability to make an impact in the lives of many others – over 40,000 others in fact.

In this conversation with Cyndi, Andy and I get the chance to hear some of the secrets she’s used to build an amazing business!

When it comes to achievement in the creative space, you have to put in the actual work to get there. However, we’re not just talking about performing a particular skill like you would in a job, though. In fact, it starts with building one’s mindset. And one way to work on one’s mindset is through the form of practicing mindfulness or perform meditation.

In this session, we’re talking to Manuj Aggarwal who knows all about this world. Interestingly enough, when he lived in India, he never had an interest in this knowledge. However, as he moved to the western world, he realized that it had some real benefits.

In this conversation with Manuj, Andy and I have the chance to find out what this journey looked like like for him – including when he realized he needed to start.

Small business accounting is a topic that many entrepreneurs needlessly struggle with when they’re getting their feet wet with running a business. For me, I have a simple tracking system of my expenditures. And usually, when it comes to invoicing, I usually opt to get paid on the front end. Outside of that, I really don’t have too much to keep track of.

However, I realize I’m not a true representation of most business owners. Most business owners need a platform that can do more than AR/AP. They might need something that takes care of payments and is a CRM on top of that. A one stop location for all of your financial bookkeeping.

That’s where Freshbooks comes in.

In our chat today, Matt Baker, VP of Corporate Strategy and International Expansion at Freshbooks, shares with us what numbers of business owners should be paying attention to.

We also discuss the process of de-risking the move to self-employment as well as what he’d recommend to entrepreneurs starting out in the Midwest.

In a an usual time like we’re going through right now, it’s easy to be hyper responsive to everything that’s going on around us. Practicing mindfulness is probably the last thing many folks are thinking about. In fact, I’d go on to say that many people are doing the opposite – they’re in a constant state of panic. They’re still focused on what we’ve been through, not where the world is going.

But can you blame them? Many who were hanging on a thread from their day job have found themselves in a lot of hurt right now. Even small business owners and farmers find themselves having to do things they never thought they’d have to.

What I’ve personally found out is this. If we can manage our stress in stressful times, then new solutions and new ways of looking at the world come more readily. We have to give ourselves room to find our own pandemic pivot. (Plus it always seems to me that survivors in zombie movies tend to see what the masses are doing, and do the opposite!)

In this conversation with Kelly DiNardo, we learn about a time where she herself had to pivot earlier in her career. While it wasn’t convenient at the time, it sure did prep her for future times of adversity.

When it comes to peak performance, most experts on the matter suggest that we learn how to care for ourselves, plan, and execute accordingly. However, even the most disciplined of us will have problems from time to time. Whether it’s a physical ailment or a mental breakdown, we all have issues from time to time. Thankfully, there’s some supplements on the market that can really impact your mental state. In fact, some of them contain some of best nootropics in existence.

If you’re not familiar with term nootropics, Veronica and I weren’t either before this interview. However, the way that our guest, Prady Tewarie, described them, it almost sounds too good to be true! Something better than coffee?! Blasphemy!

In today’s conversation, Prady shares with us his journey in starting his business Azoth, one of the fastest growing nootropic supplement companies today. What’s cool to me is that his entire journey in starting his business has been rather organic. He didn’t force it by starting a business first and then finding a product. In fact, he did it the way that it should be done.

If starting and growing a business based on your interests is something you’re wondering if you should do, let Prady’s story inspire you to give it a shot.

The best things in my life have happened because I've stepped out of my comfort zone. Whether this was starting in band when I was in junior high, going to college, or stepping out to ask Maria on a date, good things happen when you take chances. Sure, sometimes things go south and don't work out the way you would have liked, but you never know until you get started.

Case in point, today's guest, Jordan Harbinger, started his podcast way before they were considered "popular". Sure you could download them on iTunes, but when he heard that people were going to be able to listen to them easier with the release of the iPhone, he knew he had to jump on the wave.

His first show, Art of Charm, was where I got to know him. And as his content matured, I felt myself maturing with it.

Today he finds himself on his own platform where he and his team work (including his wife Jen and his producer Jason) to put out The Jordan Harbinger Show 3 times a week. (As they say in Letterkenny - Must be nice!)

In this conversation, Harrison and I get the chance to find out more about the various transitions in his career and why it's necessary at times to move on to something new.

When starting a business, many people make building their business as complicated as improving themselves. The thing is that if you have a good business idea, it shouldn't be all that complicated to get results. In fact, there are still plenty of multimillionaires out there that haven't used social media to get their message out there.

That said, you should always be improving yourself. If you're not, then you're automatically going backward.

These concepts are examples which I learned from my Amway group, LTD, back in 2006. While I'm no longer active in the business, I can say that I learned a ton of great fundamentals there.

Likewise, today's guests, Alex and Sarah Dumas, learned quite a bit from their days of being in the MLM (multi-level marketing)/direct sales as well. However, not all of it was awesome.

In fact, in this conversation, you'll hear them talk about how much of what is taught today in MLM's is only part of the story. And more interestingly, much of what's taught to entrepreneurs as a whole - especially hustling 24/7 - might not be the best thing for YOUR business.

Learn from the Dumas' experiences as they talk about these topics as well as what it takes to work and live abundantly.

They say if you can make it New York, you can make it anywhere. In that same spirit, many people see having a job or a career on Wall Street as a way to launch themselves to success.

This is pretty understandable. Over the years, there have been some movies which illustrated a simple idea. That idea being you can start from meager beginnings and become wealthy beyond your wildest dreams if you make it on Wall Street.

I believe this is the case for this session's guest, Marc Davenport.

Having started his career off on Wall Street, he learned a ton. But he also started to develop a network of influential people. That network has helped him get to where he's at today.

In this chat, join Marc and I as we discuss what all he learned on Wall Street, why he started his first business after having that success, and some of the things we can all do to help ourselves in our own journey.

In this edition of the AoL Podcast, we continuing our in depth look at motivation and what drives people to step out and embrace who they are. In the previous session with Chris Jordan, Chris told us about his life changing turning point and how being a man of Faith has allowed him to live a more fulfilling lifestyle and be a better person.

In contrast, today's guest is someone who's actually motivated to be a better version of himself through Natural Laws he's learned about in the personal development field.

Join Harrison and I as we talk with the host of the Beyond Homosapien podcast, Paul Tokgozoglu. In this chat he'll share how practicing laws such as the Law of Attraction have continually improved his outlook on life and his engagement with those around him.

On top of this, we'll also be looking into what we should be expecting when it comes to the changes in work people do in the not too distant future.

There are many reasons why people become a reanimated creator. Sometimes, they simply see a void in an industry that they're already in and think they can do a better job than the company they're at. Sometimes, a person is laid off and uses the skill that they are professionally known for to make a living on their own. However, there are other times where someone is called to do what they know they're meant to do. They have an internal pull to go a different way than they have their entire career.

For today's guest, that last one description is definitely the case. After a life altering experience, Chris Jordan realized that God had given him a new personal mission. That mission was to empower others to work and live with more confidence and meaning as well.

In this conversation, Harrison and I get to learn how this experience went down and how it's motivated him to not only start his own company but become a local President of Toastmasters as well as the director of the region.

If you feel that you're being called to do more meaningful work and don't know if it's the right choice, let Chris' story inspire you to live in Truth.

Social media, it's an interesting tool. Most of the world looks at it as a distraction or a way to share with family and friends. However, those of us who are in the entrepreneurial / creative space - we see it as a little bit more than that. Sure, we like to let people know what we're up to, but we also like to share our projects and/or our message.

If you're good at digital marketing, you'll have no problem blending in your personal posts with your business posts. If your business is part of your personal mission, then it's even easier.

Today's guest, Avi Arya, is all about helping companies reach out and connect to native social media users. He travels the world not only as a speaker, but as a consultant.

However, this doesn't define him. This is simply the work he does.

When he's not traveling around the world, he spends as much time as he can with his family, dogs, and doing the things he really enjoys doing.

The key is this: He works to live, not live to work.

In this installment of the AoL Podcast, listen as we talk about how he rose to the the top of the industry, some of the mistakes that new marketers make, and his perspective on work/life balance.
