A lot of people say mindset is the be all end all, I've been known to say that a time or two as well. However, when you dig deeper it's not always our mind that needs work, it's our heart as well. A lot of time it's not that we don't know what to do, it's the emotion behind the inaction that we need to work on/process before we can move past them.

“Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” —Abraham Lincoln
Is happiness a choice? Yes! Many happy people realize happiness is a choice and it’s up to them to intentionally choose it every single day.
Happy people are not held hostage by their circumstances and they do not seek happiness in people or possessions.

If you would like to build your self-esteem, remember to love yourself daily.
Many people don’t practice building self-esteem daily because they don’t realize that it’s something that they can learn to do, no matter what experiences they have had in life.
The key to starting the process is to recognize that self-esteem, self-love, self-worth—whatever you feel drawn to calling it—is a seed that grows if you water it.
How do you begin to grow your self-esteem? You start by recognizing that you deserve to be loved. You deserve to love yourself.

Here's the thing. Living authentically doesn't mean being chipper and happy all the time-- living authentically means owning your reality, facing our fears, and chasing wholeness over happiness.
For me, it was only after really valuing my own self care, setting personal boundaries and digging into personal development that I realized how out of touch with myself I had gotten between college & coaching. I’d spent so long chasing after other’s expectations of me that I really didn’t remember who Kim was. After all, it's only when you come up for air, do you realize you had been holding your breath.
Sometimes it's really difficult to discern if you're actually living authentically or not. So today I'm sharing 6 signs that you're NOT living your authentic life & how to course correct!.

Someone asked me how I handle rejection. I said, "Poorly and personally." I thought about it a little bit later and realized, the best way to handle rejection is to, "Share it before it becomes a secret." You have to tell someone else what happened or it will morph from an event to a secret to part of your identity. It's not easy, but sharing a rejection with a friend defangs and declaws the hurt.

This episode is a throwback to one I did a few years ago, but the content is still so good. I recorded it at a time when our community was feeling some deep sadness around a cluster of suicides and so many people were hurting. My efforts then were to share my sorrow, but also ways we can help encourage, support and stand beside those that are hurting.
I'm not an expert, I don't pretend to know all the answers or even to fully understand the deep throngs of depression... I myself have only ever experienced mild depression myself. However, I want to start the conversation b/c when we go silent and it becomes a taboo thing, good people go unhelped & end up where no one deserves. If you know someone that is dealing with depression or has contemplated suicide, please listen and share. Be the light or Find your light to share with others.
We are all gifts from God and here for a purpose.

Self love seems to be a catchy thing people throw out there, but rarely really dive into or feel the power of.
I'm not suggesting you put yourself above ALL, but I am saying you should fill your own cup before others. You are the only person on this earth that will be there for you for life, so make sure you're in position to make that time impactful in a good way.

Working to Unstress
“The Greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.” ~William James
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but we are all in a world wide pandemic. ;-) There have been a lot of changes, which like we talked about recently here, change isn’t all bad… but sometimes change can bring a lot of un-needed stress into our lives and if we are unable to handle it well, it causes more or sends us spiraling.
I truly believe the healthier we are, the better off we are at handling life’s curveballs, but I also want to share 5 ways to manage or unstress during this time of what sometimes feels like constant chaos.

Change Is Good
“If you do not create change, change will create you.” ~Unknown
We are often resistant to change, and we don’t realize that change itself is constant.
Even if you resist or avoid it, it will enter your life just the same. When you initiate the change yourself, it’s pretty easy to adapt to it, since it’s a wanted one.
But are the unplanned and unexpected changes bad? What if all changes were good by default?
Come explore with me today as I share how change is a good thing… how we need it to live a full and amazing life.

It's Okay to Ask for Help
“We can all do so much more together than we ever can alone.”
If you've ever shied from asking for help because of fear that you may seem weak, you aren't alone. It's a sad irony that it's during the times we most need to ask for help that most people are reticent in doing so. We are in a time when it may seem like a huge burden to ask for help b/c there is just so much going on. Lots of fear, doubts, sickness, debate, injustices… but I would argue that this is exactly the time we need to come together and work together to help one another. 2020 has really provided a world for us to learn that we need each other more than we want to ever admit.
So touch base with me here today as I share 5 ways to better ask for help and come out of this year feeling stronger than ever before.

Giving Up the Excuses Holding You Back
“Live by choice, not by chance. Make changes, not excuses. Be motivated, not manipulated. Work to excel, not compete. Choose to listen to your inner voice, not the jumbled opinions of everyone else.”
Over the years, likely without your conscious knowledge, you have adopted self-limiting beliefs that are quietly sabotaging your best efforts for personal growth. If you pay close attention to your self-talk, these beliefs will reveal themselves in the form of excuses.
Truth be told, if you really want something, you will find a way. If you don’t, you will find an excuse… and then you will live with that excuse every day of your life. Today I share a variety of excuses that are holding people back and how to move past them.

“Overwhelm is a choice, let's choose again.”
Maybe an unpopular statement, but everything we think, do and say is a response to what happens to us… responses are always choices. Today I share ways that have helped me and others I work with to let go of the world overwhelm and control what you can control in life these days. Choosing to see the good, focus on the positive and find the solutions always brings back the balance of a 50/50 life. You are stronger than you think, choose to see the joy.

The Ripple Effect
“If you do not care for yourself, you cannot care for others.”
Recently I was sitting around a big farm table with our team discussing what they were most surprised by being apart of the team. There were a lot of deep, impactful things shared, but the one that brought humble tears to my eyes was hearing other women share that their husbands were inspired to workout b/c they saw my husband and I working out together.
It really hit me that we aren't just changing the lives of the women in our groups, but the lives of their whole families.
Happy wife, happy life.... you've probably heard that before, but when you can have healthy parents, you leave a healthy legacy. Today I’m sharing what the ripple effect of self care is really doing to the lives, families and society as a whole. Will you join me?

Stop Being a Promise Breaker
"Confidence comes from keeping small promises to yourself." ~Ed Mylett
I used to think that confidence came from achieving things, from being noticed and being seen. As an Enneagram three I thrive off of achievement and accomplishments; but I’ve learned that confidence might show up in big ways with big results, but it’s really the small promises you keep to yourself over time that give you those results in the end anyway. So when I heard this quote from Ed Mylett I took notice and recorded my thoughts in this podcast today. I hope you enjoy.

In the high stress world we are living in right now, it’s all the more important to remember that none of us are perfect, we all are doing the best we can and it’s super important that we practice extending a whole lot of Grace to one another and ourselves. No one does well when we compare, judge and put shame on a situation. So today I share ways to show more GRACE in our own lives and to others.

“Your feelings are valid. You have the right to feel whatever emotion you have.”

Faith over Fear
“Make your faith larger than your fears and your dreams bigger than your doubts.” ~Robin Sharma
The fears you don’t face become your limits. And the doubts you don’t deal with become your walls.
Out of all of the conversations I have had with others in life lately and with followers on my social media the issue of fear and worry – and how these twin demons keep us small is one of the biggest. Especially as things fall apart in the the world right now. This pandemic, this virus, the fear is spreading so fast and it’s hurting more than the virus ever will.
You really deserve to shatter your doubts and conquer the fears that prevent you from doing what you are built to do and having everything you want in life now and in the future. And you really should not have to be spending the best hours of your days worrying about something you can’t control.

Raising Confident Girls
“She remembered who she was and the game changed.” ~Lalah Deliah
Today’s podcast was prompted by a conversation and a few interactions I’ve had with my daughter lately. It’s my job to help women find strength and confidence to live as who God made them to be, so why was it not on my radar to be focusing more on my daughter. Maybe b/c “she’s just so little” or I’m not as aware as I should be with her media intake, so as a doer and a fixer - I’ve researched some tips and easy things to do in order to help her grow up with more confidence in life. So today I’d like to share with you what I found and help you know too how to help girls build confidence based on what they can do, not what they look like.

Growing Through Discouragement
“Ships don’t sink because of the water around them, they sink because of the water that gets in them. Don’t let what’s happening around you, get inside of you to weigh you down.”
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/choose-to-rise/id1266127125
Discouragement is normal. Everyone feels it. But it is one of surest stepping stones to success. When we feel discouraged, we are given the opportunity to develop a growth mindset, positive self-talk, self-efficacy, and a strong internal locus of control. Having a growth mindset is like having a compass which points to the "next step" when invariable mistakes and missteps happen. Having a growth mindset inspires us to get up, get creative, get to Plan-B (or C or D), get moving, and get growing!

How do you Talk to yourself?
“Watch what you tell yourself, you’re likely to believe it.” – Russ Kyle
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/choose-to-rise/id1266127125
The way we speak to ourselves matters. Sometimes a simple re-framing of our self-talk can make a huge difference in how we perceive ourselves, others, and a situation. Confidence Building Activities
“Confidence is a girls best friend.”
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/choose-to-rise/id1266127125
There's no question that people who exude self-confidence have many advantages in life. Studies confirm that those with a strong level of confidence make more money, have better relationships, and enjoy more personal and professional success than those who don't. Unfortunately, many people struggle with a lack of confidence from time to time. I had trouble with self-confidence in my younger years, and I didn't exude the demeanor to make other people believe I was as competent as I was. Patience is a Virtue
“When I’m patient I let the universe do for me what I cannot do for myself.” ~Gabby Bernstein
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/choose-to-rise/id1266127125
Patience is one of those virtues that sounds simple from a distance. However, while the thought of waiting for something you want or need seems easy in theory, it is much more arduous in practice. When you’re actually faced with the obstacle, the entire concept of patience grows more challenging, and it can be difficult to improve patience in the moment.
No matter the gravity of the situation, mindfulness can help you practice patience. What is the link between mindfulness and patience? Let’s have a talk today about how we can show up more patient in life.

The Power of Your Thoughts
As someone thinks within himself, so he is.
-Proverbs 23:7
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/choose-to-rise/id1266127125
I used to think that “personal development” and “religion” were very different. However, throughout the last 5 years of being on a journey of self care, self discovery and faith work, I have come to realize that they really are one in the same. When you get to know your God, you get to know yourself; when you get to know yourself, you are getting to know your God. We are made in his image for a specific purpose on this earth. Overcoming Darkness
“Silence is compliance” - “What would Jesus do? He would love first”

If you’re reading this post/listening to this podcast, you probably want to live a better life and in doing so you want to “do something” about hate. You are not alone. It must be countered with acts of goodness. Sitting home with your virtue does no good. In the face of hate, silence is deadly. Apathy will be interpreted as acceptance — by the perpetrators, the public, and — worse — the victims. If left unchallenged, hate persists and grows. Listen in today as I share 6 ways you can work to overcome the darkness in our world by being the light.

Our Words Matter
“The words we attach to our experience become our experience.” ~Tony Robbins
The world’s greatest leaders and progressive thinkers have always used the power of words to transform our emotions to help inspire others toward their vision and create actionable change. From Winston Churchill’s focus on the “finest hour” to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s depiction of a “dream,” it’s evident that words shape our entire existence. But what about our own ability to use words internally to change our lives for the better – words that will ignite change, inspire action and improve our quality of life? Can changing your words change your life?

Non-Negotiable Habits
“Caring for myself is not self-indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.” ~Audre Lorde
When it comes to self care, especially as a woman, there are just times when you have to advocate for yourself or be sucked up into the demands and needs of others of those that surround you. I know it’s hard, but only if we make it hard. Creating a self care routine like we talked about in our last few episodes but also making certain habits a non-negotiable in my day have helped me ensure my own wellness and the wellness of my family.

Designing a self-care routine is a very personal thing. We all have different needs that must be met in different ways. 8 Things that Will Change Your Life
“I wanted to change the world. But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself.”– Aldous Huxley
A lot of times I hear people say things like “well this is just how things are” and I die a little inside for them. Things don’t just have to be… you have the power to change them. We all do. We don’t have control over everything that happens to us, but we do have control on how we respond and how we live our lives despite what our circumstances are. So many times we are blind to our shortcomings, so having friends love us enough to share or taking some time to really get out of the weeds and take a look at the 30,000 foot view of our lives matters. Reflection is a powerful tool and today I want to share with you 8 small tweaks you can make in your life that will have a powerful impact on how you live your life. IF you can implement even just 1 of them, you’ll see an improvement.

In doing some research about things happy people do and talking to several happy “morning people”, I found that there are 6 consistent answers I get to how they make their mornings, and the rest of their days more enjoyable:

Protect your Vibe
“It is so empowering to say, “this is no longer serving me” and walk away.”
It is your vibe and you should be keeping it in alignment with what is good for you! Your vibration is what you lead with, and when you come across certain people or situations, your vibe will ultimately be affected. This is why it is important to protect your vibe and keep a balanced and strong energy.
It is important that we take a look at how we may be letting outside forces take over our vibes, thus draining our power and causing blocks in our inner peace. Of course we cannot blame the outside force, we can only accept, learn, grow and evolve so that we stay on top of our highest good. This in turn empowers our vibration and keeps us balanced and aligned.

Let’s Be Brave
“To be brave is to forsake all others to be true to yourself.” ~Glennon Doyle
Bravery is mental toughness, knowledge, and confidence all wrapped up into one trait. With bravery you can make tough decisions, take action without wasting time, and approach uncomfortable situations comfortably. You need bravery when you take on new tasks at work, confront others who rub you the wrong way, and even when your work suffers because you're afraid of doing something less than perfect. When you become braver, you become more capable of taking action and handling the things that come your way.

Life is a Pendulum
“Life is a pendulum. I love the pendulum! When you are swinging to the bad you are building up energy for the swing back to the good side.”

Sometimes it’s really hard to be in love with life. Our expectations get dashed, we fall short in our commitments, we are slammed with an unexpected crisis, a friend betrays us or we just feel ground down by trying to keep up with it all. But we have to remember that life is a pendulum and what goes high one way will go high the other direction too. Things to Remember
“Two things to remember in life: take care of your thoughts when you are alone, and take care of your words when you are with people.” ~Lorde
Life can get kind of crazy sometimes and our thoughts and minds can go in a million directions. We can feel like we’re being pulled everywhere and there is so much to remember. But if we just slow down, really focus on what matters and regroup we’ll find a lot more peace than chaos. Join me today while I share things to remember on a daily basis.

End of the Week Check In
“I want to thank the special people who check in on me from time to time. That means so much more than you will ever know.” - CTR Community Member
When the world seems to be shutting it’s doors & we are practicing staying away from others in “social distancing” I want to genuinely connect and check in on you. I care about you as my podcast family and I want to help you rise up to live your best life. Here is a little “self reflection” cycle that you can use at the end of a day, a week or a month to really check in and see how things are going for you.
& then, go check in on a neighbor or loved one. (Virtually if you have to)
We are all in this together!
I feel
I need
I forgive
I celebrate
I release
I trust
How are you doing?

Staying Healthy While Working from Home
“Work, Love & Play are the greatest balance wheels of our being.” - Orison Swett Marden
In theory, it’s easier to be healthy when you’re working from home: No office snacks or donuts, you can cook healthy meals, and work out whenever you want.
Win-win-win, right?
The reality, however, probably looks something like this: Slumped on your couch wearing workout clothes you never worked out in (or let’s be honest, your pajamas), tapping away on your laptop, and eating peanut butter out of the jar because you didn’t have the time or energy to make lunch.
Creating a healthy work-life balance is hard enough when you work in an office all day, but it can be just as hard when work and life are happening in the same space.
Find out how you can avoid the pitfalls and maximize the benefits of working from home.
Follow these 10 practical strategies to help you stay active, eat well, and get your work done.
1. Create a designated work area
2. Schedule your day
3. Prep meals and snacks
4. Schedule a workout into your calendar
5. Relax… within reason
6. Sit down to eat
7. Get out of the house
8. Drink plenty of water
9. Take mindfulness breaks
10. Develop a shutdown ritual
Don’t let the comfort and familiarity of home get in the way of your work productivity or your health.
By organizing and scheduling your work and home tasks, and creating physical and mental boundaries, you can establish a healthy balance that will make your boss and your body happy.

The Obstacle is the Way
“In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.” ~Albert Einstein
Many people lose hope when faced with adversity because they think they do not have the capacity to overcome them. However, it is possible to transform obstacles to our advantage by changing perspective.
In today’s podcast we’ll talk about:
How to learn to see things objectively
Focus on what you can control
See an example of Gandhi in this subject
Why the struggle is what creates the strength.
We cannot choose what happens to us, but we can always choose what we think about it. Any event experienced is an opportunity to surpass oneself, to become stronger and therefore more alive and more assertive. Don't waste any more time feeling regret, this is now a time in which you can no longer exercise any control.

Unmet Expectations
“Your expectations determine your experience. Expect the best and that’s usually what you’ll get.” ~Domonique Bertolucci
You have to know how to deal with unmet expectations.
You have been and will be frustrated. Things don’t always go as planned. Someone has let you down, and others will in the future. Results may not be what you hoped for. You will have times in your life that what you want and dream of doesn’t come to fruition.
Simply put, we all have unmet expectations.
Here are the 5 strategies to effectively dealing with unmet expectations:
Your expectations in life will determine your experiences. Optimism, or positive expectations, is one of the most important contributors to experiencing continuous happiness.

6 Things You Shouldn’t Care About
“Other people’s opinions are none of your business.”
There are a whole host of things that we should care about in this world, but today I want to focus on the top 6 things that most people care too much about and are actually keeping them from living their best life. These 6 things have held me hostage in the past and I want to help you get out of them like I have.
When you can give up the things that are holding you back, you can have more time and energy for the things that really do matter. Faith, family, uplifting friends and the plan God’s given you.

The most common regrets in life are most often the things we can do something about early on.
Too much time on worrying
Not showing my real feelings to people I love.
Caring too much about what others think.
Not following your passions
Not fulling living in the present and enjoying the amazing moments.
Not enough travel.
Not dare to take risks.
Too little quality time with loved ones.

Escaping Comparison: How to get Unstuck
“Comparison is the thief of all joy.”
My church just wrapped up a series called “Unstuck” where we walked through Romans 12 and looked at all the ways we stay stuck in relationships. Both earthly and spiritually. Marriages and parenting and everything in-between.
These 4 points were from Tyler R’s sermon this past Sunday (you can listen here) and I just thought they were so great I’d share them with you today w/ my own spin on things.
https://www.orchardhillchurch.org/media-center/2020/unstuck
How to get unstuck:
1. Take our focus off of others
2. Recognize your gifts
3. Allow space for failure
4. Power of Yet
I’d love to know what spoke to you today about this lesson and if you gave Tyler’s full teaching a listen. You can find all of our services in the past online and if you are more of a “live audience” follower, you can participate that way too. Every Sunday at 9:15 and 10:45 CST. The Ideal Day
“The way you live your days are the way you live your life.”
What a gut check quote & reminder that it’s not always the “big rocks” in life that make our life meaningful, purposeful or create a legacy, it’s the day to day things that add up to the big things in life.
So I’d encourage you to grab a clean piece of paper and jot down what the ideal day would look like in the following areas:
wake up, morning routine, self care, work life, family life, nature, fun/hobbies, meals and bedtime
My mentor Brooke Castillo would say that if you want anything to happen, you have to schedule it into your day. So you could simply schedule in the things from this brainstormed list that will help you create an ideal day.
From there we can start to establish 4 Routines in our day.
1. A morning routine
2. Workday start up routine
3. Workday shutdown routine
4. End of the Day routine
Pick 3-4 things that can make up that routine - maybe things from your ideal day list and create a trigger habit that will start this routine into motion.
Now, remember that when it comes to routines you have to remember 2 things: 1- they are yours, you decide what you want/need to do in those 4x of the day or however many you decide you need. You take ownership for your own life. 2- You have to give yourself grace - 80/20 rule here. Life is going to happen, but that doesn’t mean you need to throw in the towel if it doesn’t happen for some reason. .
I’d love to know - How are you planning to create some new habits/routines in your days and what your ideal days look like. You might recognize some of these steps from the Happiness Code I discussed last time. There are still openings for our book club and I’d love to give one of those spots to you. We might be the master of our own thoughts, still we are the slaves of our own emotions.
Your emotions come from the way you perceive the world around you and alerts you to your perceptions. This alert is the message of the emotion.
Once you learn to acknowledge the emotion and its message, you empower yourself to question the validity of the message and choose how you want to respond to it.
Today we go through the emotions of bitterness, resentment, discomfort, anger, disappointment, guilt, shame and sadness.
I know they seem like super Debby downers, but listening to these emotions and what they mean in your life will help you course correct to find more joy for sure.

You are Valuable - Know your Worth
It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels worthy of himself. – Abraham Lincoln
You think your value will increase when that one thins happens for you but wha you do’t realize is how worthy you already are now. Don’t wait around for that one day when that one thing happens. Choose yourself today! Celebrate your life now! Love who you are in this moment!
Step 1: The Self-Understanding Stage
Step 2: The Self-Acceptance Stage
Step 3: The Self-Love Stage
Step 4: The Recognition Stage
Step 5: The Responsibility Stage
When you have a high level of self-worth, you’re no longer relying on other people to make decisions for you. You alone hold yourself accountable, and you alone hold the power to make positive changes in your life.
There is no more complaining, blaming, judgment, or excuses. You now hold the power. You hold this power because you fully trust yourself and trust your ability to make decisions that put you back in the driver’s seat of your life.

Are You Living the Life You're Meant to Live?
Life has a way of passing us by, even as we’re busy attending to its trials and tribulations. Before we know it, moments have shifted, seasons have ended, and years have slipped by—almost as if life were avoiding our gaze. You can determine your path by asking yourself these 3 questions:
If you feel that you’re leaving behind a trail you don’t necessarily want to call your own, then take a deep breath of total acceptance, and trust that you're exactly where you're supposed to be in your life. Release the tension of disappointment, regret, and should that may have begun raising a critical voice. Know that your entire life has been preparing you for this moment—whether it’s a moment of realization, reflection, or celebration. Pat yourself on the back for having made it thus far, and plan how you will journey forward. How will you structure your days to move incrementally toward your highest vision? What goals will you set? What activities will you prioritize? What habits will you create? And, most important, what step toward it will you take today?

“Good self esteem is like a superpower!”
Loving yourself is a radical act, but life is sooo much easier if you do. The thing to remember here is that it is a process, and often a slow one so don’t expect to go to maximum self love in a week. Incremental changes are usually the most sustainable and a love for self makes a great bedrock foundation so taking it bit by bit is the approach I recommend.
If you’re ready to take some of these steps and you’re not sure how - I’d love to help encourage you, get you set up with some great tools and support in our Self Love Club here in February. 2. Make self care a priority
3. Exercise to reduce stress and boost brain health
4. Eat nutrient dense foods & stay hydrated
5. Get enough sleep
6. Relax & de-stress regularly

“Real transformation requires real honesty. If you want to move forward, get real with yourself.”
How many of you have ever held onto a painful experience from your past and let it fester in your life until it created a bigger problem instead of a healing moment? Yeah, me too. My unwillingness to heal, to continue to shame and blame only left a gaping wound in my heart, not the other person's. When I started to follow this process I’m sharing today, I was finally able to find the healing I needed and I hope it helps you today too.
Awareness: realize something isn’t working
Responsibility: taking ownership for the creation of the issue and solving of the problem
Forgiveness: I release shame and blame, I let go of what hurts and focus on joy.
Peace: I no longer hold a charge about the event. I feel gratitude for my revelations and save.
Joy: I am here, in this moment, fully present in joy.

Special Guest Episode w/ @Addie Yoder
“Being intentional with our time is how we overcome life’s overwhelm.”
I had the pleasure of meeting Addie exactly 2 years ago on this same weekend at a business conference. We were both midwestern moms in the big city of LA pretty much by ourselves. We worked out together, sharing weights (the gym was packed) and had a great time. We stayed in contact and have even gotten our kids together to play even though we live 5 hours apart. She’s a fun, agriculture advocate mom who loves books, helping people and encouraging others to live healthy and fulfilling lives. She’s a life coach and has an upcoming course about figuring out who you are as an individual and making life choices based on that. I’m excited for it to be released!
Today Addie shares with us some great tips on getting rid of overwhelm and stress when it comes to your schedule. Determining the difference between the have to dos, should dos and then want to dos. She also shares a thought process of how she determines what commitments she adds to her plate, because those choices don’t just impact her; but also her farmer husband and four kids.
Thank you Addie for sharing with us today and if you want to find more of her or to sign up for her newsletter you can go to @addie.yoder on IG or her website addieyoder.com * If I say yes to this, how will this impact my spouse/family * Is my spouse/family in a position to pick up the slack if I add this to my plate/schedule. * Who is actually doing the work if I say yes * How is this going to impact my attitude * Is it something I want to do and if it’s something I have to do, is there an alternate route.

“Dreams do come true, if only we wish them hard enough.”
If you want to live your best life, don’t make the mistake of dismissing your dreams as soon as they pop into your head. Take the time to explore them. This doesn’t mean that every single thought needs to be acted upon, just that your ideas shouldn’t be dismissed without thought or consideration.
Take time to dream today, to fantasize about what your BEST life could be like.
Then Grab a plain piece of paper and DRAW that life, doodles, images, it doesn’t have to be Picasso, just get images on the paper.
Color those images in, give them life and make them bright and cheerful.
Then create positive questions for your brain to go answer.
How can I live my healthiest life?
How can I experience more travel this next year?
Why is it so easy to earn money and live my best life.?
Why is it so easy to build strong connections with my friends and loved ones?
Why is it so easy to be a loving mother today?

“When you eat healthy, you are healthy.” ~ Hattie Meyer, age 7
You are what you eat. Have you ever heard that before? While that can be taken quite literal, today I’d like to think about it in a generic state around health. I asked my daughter what I should talk about today on the show and she said I should talk to people about living a healthy life because that’s what I love so much. Man a girl after my own heart. ;-) So here we go: 9 ways to Live a Healthier Life!

“There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in it’s hands.” ~Richard Bach
When you find yourself facing challenging situation, don’t succumb to endlessly exploring the cause of the problem or seeking to attribute blame. Instead, ask yourself what you can learn from this situation and how this experience will help you grow!
Doing so helps you:
1- Grow your Skills
2- Grow your Value
3- Grow your Relationships
4- Grow your Life Satisfaction
What new challenges could you take on in life? Is there a project, a role, or an opportunity that can help you grow yours skills, value, relationships, and life satisfactions? Maybe an old experience you can go back and reflect on to find the value in it to move forward with a new perspective as well.

“Don’t let anyone rent space in your head unless they are a good tenant.”
Our energy in life can be impacted in so many ways and today’s podcast is inspired by some recent social media comments and messages that said “You just seem so happy these days, what are you doing?” And honestly I’ve learned how to protect my energy so I wanted to share with you how I’m doing it and how you can do it too!
Following these principles have drastically raised my vibration in the world, connecting me more with my God, learning more about who I am and what my purpose here in on this earth. I hope that you can take one of these things away and implement it in your life too. What about today spoke to you? Share with me by connecting with me on SM, by email or my website.

“Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” John 13:34
We are called to love one another, despite the struggles, pain, hurt or behaviors they exhibit. As Christians especially I know it’s our calling to LOVE over Condemn. Jesus loved us unconditionally and calls us to do the same. Love flows from God to us and through us flows to others. Forgiveness follows the same path - from God to Us and then to others.
If we are to be forgiven of our sins or we must forgive others. On my final day, I pray that people remember the blessings and positive legacy of my life and not my shortcomings and sins.
Today’s podcast was spurred by an IG message I got yesterday after the passing of Basketball Legend Kobe Bryant and it stayed with me in my heart and mind so I knew it had to be talked about on the show today.
I talk about how we are called to LOVE but also what it means to forgive. Whether it’s a legendary star or someone in your personal life, we are meant to love everyone.
Forgiveness is not:
- letting people off the hook
- Waiting for an apology or admission
- forgiving is not the same as forgetting.
Forgiveness IS:
- not optional.
- not an event, but a process
- not earned, but gifted
- becoming aware is the first step.

“You have not lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” — John Bunyan
There are very few people who don’t like the idea of generosity. We are indeed a species that loves to help others and confront needs when we see them. Unfortunately, there are also very few people who are content with the level of generosity in their lives. Most people I know wish they were able to give more. And while there are a number of reasons that this may be the case… sometimes the best solution may be the simplest.

“What if success doesn’t equal happiness?”
Oh my goodness you guys, I have the BEST treat for you today! It’s been one of my goals for 2020 to bring more voices to the podcast, people/women that inspire me to live a better life and therefore I know will inspire you too to rise up and live your best life as well.
Today best selling author Laura Gassner Otting is my guest and shares about her amazing book "Limitless: How to Ignore Everybody, Carve Your Own Path, and Live Your Best Life".
There are SO Many nuggets I could share but she shares the heart of the book about how everyone is striving to have more consonance in life. Basically meaning who you are aligns to what you do.
She shares about the 4 elements of consonance:
1. Calling
2. Connection
3. Contribution
4. Control
then she shares a great resource that you can use to figure out where you are right now in life and match it to where you want to be too!

“My outer experiences are a reflection of my internal condition.”
The tension between the inner self and outer self is common in the modern world. Each of us is tugged in multiple directions every day and our actions and behaviors do not always align with our core values as a result.
However, becoming aware of your inner self and how it balances with your outer self is the foundation for good mental, physical, and spiritual health. This is why it is an important aspect to consider when working on a good balance in your life.
One way to identify if you are experiencing a conflict between your inner and outer selves is to identify gaps between your true values and outer actions.
While thinking about what changes you need to make, it may be helpful to ask yourself the following questions:
Go back to the gaps that you identified in the previous section, and start with the largest ones. Ask yourself what changes you will need to make to align your inner and outer selves.

1. Physical
2. Emotional
3. Social
4. Spiritual
5. Personal
6. Space
7. Financial
8. Work

Know your Purpose: Then Get Busy!
My affirmation card today said “I am a spirit having a human experience and I’m here to get close to love.” - In reality, we are all just spirits here on this temporary home waiting for the day we go to Heaven. First we have a job to do, first we have a purpose to fulfill.
We are all put here on this earth for a specific reason. A purpose you can say. We may not all know or understand that purpose right away and it takes some time usually to figure it out. Today I want to help you do just that.
Get out a a piece of paper and write, draw, journal and get clear on your purpose so you can go out there and make an impact on this world with the time you have!
1. What is that you LOVE?
2. What is it that the world needs?
3. What is it that you can be paid for?
4. What is it that you are good at?
Find the sweet spot and live there!

To be a person is to have a story to tell.
Stories bring us together & we not only exchange stories to connect, but we are also characters in each other’s stories. When we can see how our past stories have shaped us into who we are now, we can better align ourselves with where we are wanting to go in the future. We can live more purposefully and live the kind of life that we will give our own story meaning.
Viewing our lives as a narrative invites us to learn from our lives, helps us make sense of our life and offers us choices/possibilities for change in our lives.
Dive in today with us and make sure you come back with a pen and paper & maybe some sticky notes to map out your own life narrative so you can best know who you are and Whose you are.

A change in bad habits leads to a change in your life.
We are what we repeatedly do, therefore excellence is not an act, but a habit. ~Aristotle
How to Reset Habits

Time spent in self-reflection is never wasted. It’s an intimate date with yourself. ~Paul TP Wong
Today we are taking a look back on the past year, or if you want on the past decade… to really understand and know where we are or where we have been so we can move forward into the next year/decade with more clarity on what we really want in life.
I’d love for you to take some time and share in the comments the answers to some of these questions:
Words I will live by:
Things I will do:
Places I will go:
How I will feel:
Priorities I will remember:
Ways I will live:
Then a final activity and a super powerful one to do is to write a letter to your future self w/ these goals/aspirations. Write it as a reflection of the year past. Dear 2020 self, looking back on this year I have….
Send it to yourself at futureme.org and have it delivered to your email on a date you choose.

I want to be the kind of person who actively pursues God, intentionally stays on course and refuses to yield to fear and anxiety.
Is it possible to end the year with hope?
It is that time of the year when people evaluate the last twelve months of their lives and plan for the next twelve.
I am in a reflective season myself, thinking about the dreams that came to pass this year. And those that did not.
I pray you have a super blessed Christ-centered end of the year. May God increase your capacity for the coming year! I can’t wait to see what He has in store for all of us!

The best foundation for great goal setting is a solid personal end of year reflection. Even if you haven’t seriously planned out any goals previously, you should really spend some time looking back on what has or hasn’t been working for you in the past. Once you have an idea of where you are succeeding, or have opportunities for growth, you can set more specific and focused goals for the future.
So how does one start reflecting on 365 days? It starts with asking good questions;
Start with the past year’s highlights
Reflect on what worked well
What could you have improved on?
What are you grateful for?
What did you do last year that will benefit you in 5-50 years from now?
Having a better idea of where you’ve been and what went well/not so well will set you up for success going forward. Next time we’ll discuss how to write new goals for the upcoming year!

When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier. - Roy E Disney
This is an exercise that I went through with my Journey class recently and it’s super powerful. Everyone has values… good, bad, or neutral. They drive everything we do and when you want to level up in your life, you have to know what’s really steering the ship if you ever want to change course.
Answer these questions:
1. What do I spend the most time doing?
2. What do I find myself thinking about most often?
3. What do I spend my money on?
4. Where do I find myself giving the most effort?
5. What causes me worry or pain or anger, especially if I don’t have it?
6. What qualities of character do I notice and admire in others? What kind of people do I like to hang out with?
7. Prayerfully reflect on your answers - ask yourself: what do I find to be really important at this point in my life?
Values are things you are taking action on in life.
Ideas are things that you want.
Ideals become values only if they are things you live out.

Life has 2 rules, 1 - never quit and 2- always remember rule number 1.
Wouldn’t it be great if life did have a rule book? A manual we could refer to in order to live our best life. A path for us to follow always that gave us a pre-determined destination of our liking?
I can’t give you that, but I can give you some simple rules to live by today that can help you find the path God’s made for you and walk it with more joy.
These 7 rules are not going to solve all of your problems, but they will help you avoid some bigger ones maybe going forward. I hope you learned something in this episode and share it with a friend!

"I was okay as long as someone else was okay with me." ~Courtney Misener
This quote hit me hard when I was at a Be You Bravely conference last week. It is the perfect definition of what so many of us struggle with in this “comparison trap” world.
How do you know you are an addict?
- You describe yourself as a "people pleaser."
Are you more interested with how many "friends" you have on Facebook than you actually have in your life?
You will do anything your boss or spouse requests of you, even if it's unreasonable or puts you under excessive pressure.
You have trouble saying no to people.
You measure your success based on what others think of you.
* You've taken on extra obligations at the request of others, only to feel resentful of them later.
And we discuss more and how to overcome the addiction in today’s podcast.

If you want to change your experiences, your life, you have to change the frequency of your thoughts. You have to pay closer attention to your thoughts because they are the ones that shape your life. “As you think so shall you be” Jesus. Maybe it is time for you to take a pen and a piece of paper and to start asking yourself what is it that you want for yourself. What is it that you need in your life? What are the things that you believe will make you happy? Ask the question and then let that inner voice to give you an answer. Have faith. Be patient. You have nothing to lose. You have done it your way until now and it did you no good.
Why not try something new?
Keep an open mind.
Decide to shift your attention
Decide to to live the life you want
Put your focus and your energy on that which you want for yourself
Believe it and you will achieve it

Have you ever fallen into the “When I …” trap? When I get this, I’ll be happy… when I experience this… I’ll be happy…
I'll be happy when...I fall in love.
I'll be happy when...I get married.
I'll be happy when...we can buy our dream house.
I'll be happy when...we can furnish the house.
Still, the anticipated happiness is elusive so we tie it to more future events.
I'll be happy when...we have children.
I'll be happy when...the children are older.
I'll be happy when...I can retire.
What is the source of happiness? We tend to assume that happiness will come from a future event. It typically depends upon something else happening. Listen in today to hear more about getting out of the “When I” trap.

We spend most of our adult waking hours working. Plus, many of us today expand the role of work beyond just earning a living and expect our careers to provide opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment. To find the satisfaction at work, it is influenced by factors such as benefits, pay, relationships, and commute length. But all of this boils down to two things being important, regardless of your circumstances: (1) having a life outside of work, and (2) having the money to afford it. If you have a job that grants you both of these, you might be happier than you realize.

One small gesture leads to other actions with positive results. That’s a ripple effect.
You may never know how far the ripple effects of change will go in life. Simply bringing a healthy recipe/dish to a family gathering can inspire someone to ask you for the recipe. Then sharing the recipe they can take it to the next gathering and do the same thing. Your small act of choosing a better option will reach hundreds of people by the end. How cool is that!
Even better, these small efforts add up to big changes, as one idea, leads to another…and another. Better health ensues!
The best part about a ripple effect is that you don’t need to do something amazing or grand to create it. Small gestures, like sharing food or assisting someone in need, can go further than we imagine, helping us recognize the impact and interconnectedness of our actions.
Do you know of any ripples you’ve created to help others eat better?

Believing in yourself is key to living your best life.
Everything you have in your life is a result of your belief in yourself and the belief that it’s possible. Here are the four most important steps to learning how to believe in yourself. Practice them and you’ll be amazed at the results:
Believe it’s possible. Believe that you can do it regardless of what anyone says or where you are in life.
Visualize it. Think about exactly what your life would look like if you had already achieved your dream.
Act as if. Always act in a way that is consistent with where you want to go.
Take action towards your goals. Do not let fear stop you, nothing happens in life until you take action.

“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.”
– Walter Winchell
The 3 most important relationships in life are
1. God
2. Spouse
3. Children
4. Others
I would throw self in the top category as well b/c as you get to know God you get to know yourself and as you work on yourself, you get to know God better.
I highly value the core group of friends in my life, the ones that come in the first layer of the “other category.” They are the ones you call with news, the ones that are not blood, but are still considered family. They cheer you on, they pick you up, they are there in the good and bad in life.
I’m super grateful that I’ve found a group of women that are not the society version of women, backstabbing cat fights, but solid, uplifting & kind women. Who are focused on improving, growing and supporting each other always. There is no competition only helping each other out.

Your inner dialogue is based on fiction. It's time to rewrite your story.
You always have a power to choose. We can decide to be anything, and with God's help, it's highly doable. Right. But first, we have to take the step to believe that it's possible.
Success is not a magic trick. It's not God's randomly picking you as the one person that is going to do well this year. God gave us all the power of choice. We are all sons and daughters, and he gave us all the power of choice in this world.
We can use it for good and we can use it for bad, but we get to decide.
You can be who you want to be, you just have to BELIEVE it.

We are always enough for God. You are God's masterpiece, and he's created us and you in Christ Jesus. When I read Genesis and the story of how God breathe life into man and create him into out of dust and shaped into the likeness of God, I'm reminded that the people around me do not determine my value. The people around me have their own opinions there, which they're totally entitled to. The people around me have their own purpose in life, and what's for us will not pass us. What we're created for is not what they're created for. We just have to remember this quote from the book Limitless by Laura Otting, she says "Do not give a vote to the people who shouldn't have a voice in your world." Remembering those opinions really don't matter.
How can you make these mindset shifts?
1. Focus on what brings you joy.
2. Practice Positive Affirmations and build your belief I
3. Determine who is in your inner circle, (Vote, Voice, Place)
4. Surround yourself with people going your direction
5. Do more of what you love.
I hope you find your value today and starting living out your purpose to honor your God, yourself and everyone that interacts with you. Have a blessed day!

When your desire for change is authentic, you will have all of the motivation you need.
Unless your goal is something authentically you desire, you will never get far with it.
When you're feeling overworked, overwhelmed and overextended, as we so often do these days, you may find yourself avoiding certain tasks, putting off a difficult conversation, or maybe even ignoring important priorities.
You know that the longer you wait the harder the task becomes, that the more you delay the harder the motivation is to find. But how can you turn it around?
Motivation is a force that comes from within. It helps us to push on when things are difficult, and overcome lethargy and procrastination.
Finding the motivation within can be difficult, but the ability to stay motivated, even when you don't feel inspired, is a huge factor in your ability to be successful and something you'll always do well to cultivate.

Happy people realize happiness is a choice. They are not held hostage by their circumstances and they do not seek happiness in people or possessions. They understand that when we stop chasing the world’s definition of happiness, we begin to see the decision to experience happiness has been right in front of us all along. Research in the field of positive psychology continues to reinforce this understanding.
But simply knowing that happiness is a choice is not enough. Fully experiencing it still requires a conscience decision to do so each day. How then might each of us begin to experience this joy?
1. Count your blessings
2. Carry a smile
3. Speak daily affirmation into your life.
4. Wake up on your terms.
5. Hold back a complaint.
6. Practice one life-improving discipline.
7. Use your strengths.
8. Accomplish one important task
9. Eat a healthy meal/snack.
10. Treat others well.
11. Meditate.
12. Search for benefit in your pain
Go today. Choose joy and be happy. That will make two of us.
