The first athletes for Team GB have been confirmed for the Winter Olympics - 39 days after the end of Tokyo 2020! This is Beijing Bound from Anything but Footy - the Olympic and Paralympic podcast - counting down to the second Games in six months - and we're joined by Head Coach of British Curling David Murdoch as 6 curlers are named for Britain in Beijing!

As Birmingham unveiled its final sporting venues for the Commonwealth Games in the city centre - Beach Volleyball & 3x3 Basketball in the old market in Smithfield - we catch up with the CGF's CEO David Grevemberg. He admits the Federation could help more with ensuring all the Commonwealth, and local communities, are represented amongst organisers and bidders following a diversity row in the second city. He also can't wait for 2022 telling British athletes there's an unprecedented grand slam of gold medals up for grabs!
With two years to go before the Games, Birmingham revealed its iconic venues for Beach Volleyball and 3x3 Basketball in 2022 on the site of old market in Smithfield! CEO of Birmingham 2022 Ian Reid told us bringing those sports into the city centre, not only showcased the landscape of Birmingham but will ensure the games are accessible to all. They're confident coronavirus won't delay the Games, but will be watching other sporting events with interest in the coming months/year. And despite speaking in a broad Glaswegian accent, Ian predicted the Birmingham Commonwealth Games would exceed both Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018!
Two years before the opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston tells Michael the city and region is ready for a 'fantastic' games. He says after the challenges we’ve all had, particularly live sport during Coronavirus crisis "we all need something to look forward to.” The Minister also confirms “we’ll see more changes" to the Commonwealth Games board following criticism for lack of diversity representatives.
