It’s time for Word On The Street’s finale! In this extra special episode, your favourite hosts Leah and Carolina spoke to Jinge about life in the UK as an international student from China. Carolina attended Climate Strike Leicester’s exhibition in the Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, talking to its attendees about what impacts them the most about Climate Change. We also spoke to Climate Strike Leicester’s organisers Tyler Grant-Hooley and Quinn about the work that went behind this exhibition. Georges Lamberto, a History student at the Nova University of Lisbon spoke to us about the significance of National Student Day in Portugal. We also had a catch-up with Oliver Lisle from the University of Manchester about updates concerning the current Student Rent Strikes. Finally, at the end of the show, we welcomed our final Artist Spotlight Queen Leshh who gave us some words of wisdom for upcoming creatives and shared her new single “I Dunno”.

We hear from Judith Critchley from Leicester's women's comedy group Tickled Pink, talking about her struggles as a female comedian in a male dominated industry. We also meet Professor Fabienne Viala, co-producer of System of Systems, showing at the Phoenix Cinema in the city's Cultural Quarter, for International Women’s Day. To top all of that off, we discuss Eurovision and how hard it was to bag tickets!
On this special Word On The Street show, live from Gray’s Café at the LCB Depot, co-hosting alongside Leah and Carolina are comedians Kevin Daniel and Alice Frick. We talked about their experience so far in the comedy world and their upcoming stand-up shows at the Leicester Comedy Festival. To keep things interesting, we played two games: ‘Would I Lie to You: Word on the Street version’, where our comedians had to find out who was lying, between Leah and Carolina; and ‘Guess the laugh’, the game where we played a couple of laughs from famous figures, and everyone had to guess to whom the laugh belonged to.
We hear from Nick Owen, from The Mighty Creatives charity, who talked about how his charity has been helping young people develop their creative voice, transforming themselves, their communities, and the future. And we meet with James Burkmar, the Workspace Development Manager at LCB Depot, about the monthly event Last Friday, which brings together street food, comedy, music, and small businesses. Not being sufficiently beautiful, acceptable, pleasing: it is sometimes a fixed thought and a real concern for many women. But not feeling satisfaction in admiring one's own image reflected in the mirror is a confirmation of the more general opinion we have of ourselves: if we don't like our body, probably the heart of the problem must be sought in our interiority. The word "perfect" suggests something that cannot be improved because it has reached an unsurpassed level of excellence. This is why when we imagine a perfect body we are reminded of celebrities with certain sizes and proportions that represent for us a true ideal of beauty.
In reality, the idea of perfection is not objective and when we talk about a woman's body a whole system of values and social conventions comes into play: the body that is conventionally considered flawless is perfect. But in the course of time the model of beauty changes, evolving and adapting to the environment and the time, influenced by the historical situation, fashion, the needs of individuals.
