The influential level of leadership can be categorized as entry-level leadership. This is the level where many new leaders begin their leadership journey. While being an influential leader is great, there are some common pitfalls that leaders on this level have to overcome. Tony highlights those obstacles so new leaders are aware and can avoid them. My son Tre is my hero, even at 18 months. I'm so proud of him and I'm amazed by him each and everyday. He has taught me so many things in my short time of fatherhood. The NFL sent out a memo about the consequences of COVID-19 outbreaks among unvaccinated players. It has caused quite a stir amongst players, fans, and everyone in between. This episode we dive into the details of memo, but not in the way you may think. We look at this situation from two different leadership perspectives: organizational and individual. The NFL has already shown what they are going to do. Now, unvaccinated players have a choice to make on how they will respond to the memo now that they know the consequences will impact more than just themselves.
Joy and happiness are used synonymously, but they mean something different. Joy is not a feeling that comes around often and although happiness and joy are similar, there are some major differences between the two. In this episode, Tony explains the definition between the two and talks about the feelings of joy leadership can bring leaders. When was the last time you experienced joy? What did your team achieve? How long did your joy last? Do you enjoy being a leader?
Integrity is universally known to be doing the right thing when nobody else is watching. Tony approaches integrity in a different way. Tony tries to connect how our values and actions overlap to determine if we are living with integrity. Integrity is a leadership trait that finds it way at the top of everyone's leadership trait list and is often seen as the most essential trait of leaders. This is because people want to trust their leaders and because if you have integrity, there are a lot of other areas that will be taken care of too.

Tony shares three stories of when he was humbled and how it shaped the person he is today. Too often we pat ourselves on the back and forget that we are where we are because of others. Humbling events always find a way to creep into our lives when we think everything is going great. Don't let it take a backbreaking or life altering event to happen for you to become humble. Humility does not discriminate and can sometimes be a bitter pill to swallow. Confidence is fine, but nobody like a cocky or arrogant person. Take some time today to think about how humble you are and if you need to improve in that area.

We take a lot of things in life for granted. As leaders, we can't afford to do that. Sometimes its good to take a moment and think about all the reasons we have to be grateful. We may not be exactly where we want to be in life, but there is someone who would be willing to switch places with us if they had the opportunity. Take a moment to think about the relationships you have, your family members, your job, home, or life itself. Some people don't have any of these. Carve out 5 minutes to be grateful and watch how things are put into perspective.
Tony shares a story about him and his son and what he learned about the importance of being flexible as a leader. Sometimes leaders have to call an audible at the line to make sure the plan is executed properly. There is nothing wrong with that. Never be so all in on an idea that you are not open to other routes to accomplish the same goal. Sometimes your great idea is not the best idea. Keep the goal in mind, execute the goal and swallow your pride to just make sure that it gets done.
