Thrilled to be back in the studio recording season two for you all! This season we double down on the human side of business. We go super niche to ask our guests how cannabis improved their leadership skills. Let me point out the duality of this question.
Yes, cannabis increases empathy, plenty of episodes discuss the science of cannabis.
Another aspect is the unique legal issues cannabis businesses face and owners need to strengthen critical thinking skills, problem solving ability, and diplomacy amid various stakeholders.
Many of our listeners are entrepreneurs, business owners, and individuals changing the world by building a future that doesn’t exist today. Yet does stress, anxiety, and burnout distract us?
You’ll hear stories from real humans, living everyday life, and lessons we’ve learned along the way. Do we notice, appreciate, and amplify the magical moments? Mentors that inspire us. Business connections creating economic independence. Laughter forming human connections.
Why cannabis? There is a third option where supplementing our wellness with Intentional Use that helps us be the best version of ourselves. Using cannabis with Intention fills the void between Medical Use and Adult Use; the binary options legalization created. Intentions vary per person - increase creativity, increase self compassion, or increase executive function.
Season 2 we go on record discussing the science of cannabis, emotional intelligence, and neuroscience. As I like to say “EQ via ECS” stick around!
There were so many amazing moments during season 1 of the PeopleNova Podcast. We decided to recap the season sharing my favorite quote from Darren Walker and a few responses to my favorite question: What is your favorite art?
All along the season we discussed empathy, growth mindset, superpowers, and many more amazing conversations. Darren Walker said: “Without art there is no empathy. Without empathy there is no justice.” Next season will continue to have art, empathy, and justice.
With so many artistic expressions, you are bound to find a piece of art that impacts your life the most. I would love to hear what that is for you. Write in the comments, leave it in your review, or find PeopleNova on social media. Stay tuned to the end of the podcast to hear my favorite art.

We have a special addition to the show notes for today’s PeopleNova Podcast episode. As you know by now, we ask every guest to share their favorite art. One of my favorite questions to ask! It stems from a quote by Darren Walker: “Without art there is no empathy. Without empathy there is no justice.”
And we all know empathy is an essential part of leadership and building organization culture. Today’s guest shares his favorite art in the episode and a sample included in the show notes. Make sure to check it out.

Today on the PeopleNova Podcast we have a loving conversation about the soul to soul work it takes to connect with self and others. Yes, love. Love is being truthful and honest. First with ourselves. How do we cultivate self-love? How do we replenish our inner cup of joy? Next with others. How do we cultivate love for others? How do we earn consent for important conversations?
We discuss a few pragmatic approaches to these and other topics with Adriane Jefferson, Culture and Arts thought leader. Let’s get started!

Today in Part 1 we discuss how the pandemic is creating a never before seen event in our lives. We are acutely aware of this “black swan” event as we live it every day. Deeply understanding the lasting impact to business and the human side of business while we live it is a tremendous learning moment.
Let’s get this started with our guest, an extraordinary human, Donnie Bedney. I promise, you won't want to miss part 2, releasing January 2021.

Hello everyone! I’m Rachel O’Neil and this is the PeopleNova Podcast. Question. How do you create the maximum opportunity for innovation? Focus on the people, of course! People are the most rewarding aspect of running any business. And the most challenging. There is no script when it comes to people or scaling a venture. There is no correct answer. We all make decisions with imperfect information. We all are improvising as life unfolds before us.

Today’s episode of the PeopleNova Podcast we talk about being lucky. Well, we discuss how luck isn’t about waiting for the fancy car to magically appear in the driveway. We talk about the interconnectedness of data points, visualizing what success looks like, and building an intentional network of connections. Not for ulterior motives. Simply to surround ourselves with the type of life we want to lead. We are the narrators for our own life. Why would you let someone else script your life?
Let’s listen to a fascinating conversation with Angel Silvestrini and understand how not to compromise on the important aspects of our life and work.

Welcome back to the PeopleNova Podcast, I’m Rachel O’Neil. I thoroughly enjoyed today’s discussion exploring my favorite approach to shifting mindsets with clients: reframe from depleting resources to investing capital. Humans are the most important capital supporting your business. Hence, Human Capital. Regenerative businesses invest in its Human Capital, distribute power when making decisions, and intentionally incorporate stakeholder voices. Sounds like the kind of business that you want to be a part of, huh? I totally agree! Let’s listen to the discussion with Aliana Pineiro to figure out how to create the type of business that regenerates the economy.

Have you visited a Financial Therapist before? This week’s episode of the PeopleNova Podcast we chat with the first one I ever met. We know that most humans have an emotional relationship to money. We know which of our friends calculates their dinner bill to the exact amount. We know which family member is always keeping up with the Joneses. The fascinating part of our conversation is how pure economic models never took into account the human brain making money decisions.

What if it’s not about choosing our battles? What if it’s about something else? Today on the PeopleNova Podcast we chat about that “something else”. I’m dedicating this episode to all my fellow recovering perfectionists. Welcome to the PeopleNova Podcast, I’m Rachel O’Neil. If you’ve been listening along, I frequently mention that I am a recovering perfectionist. Often we forget to determine: Are we doing it for the achievement or because it brings us joy? We have such an energizing conversation with today’s guest to sort out this question. We chat about the steps to move towards joy in our work and life despite quarantine. We extensively discuss the importance of mental wellness. We learn about a new art medium that embraces flaws and imperfections to create beauty with our guest Lesa Moloi.

Today’s episode builds on the parable of the golden egg. What is the wealth you are building? How are you planning ahead? Welcome to the PeopleNova Podcast, I’m Rachel O’Neil and we venture into business contingency planning with today’s guest. Many of our listeners are founders and entrepreneurs. As you are rapidly growing your business, how are you protecting the wealth you are creating?
Protecting generational wealth can seem overwhelming and complex. However, there are a couple frameworks that help us unpack this complex system. Put together a set of plans that can direct our intentions and influence how we make decisions going forward. So let’s jump into the conversation with Laura French.

Hello listeners, welcome back to the PeopleNova Podcast, my name is Rachel O’Neil. Today we discuss large and impersonal political, corporate, or social structures regarded as intractably indivisible and uniform.
Better known as: monoliths.
These monolith structures are composed of humans. Humans, time and again, demonstrate the ability to shift thinking and collectively work together to challenge the status quo. Similar to how your startup disrupts the insurance industry, or transportation industry, or status quo of an entrenched industry. Let’s listen in as we chat with Quiana Agbai.

Welcome back to the PeopleNova Podcast, I’m Rachel O’Neil and today we are discussing Fear. What is fear? Fear is a strong emotion, a physiological response originating in the amygdala. Fear aids in triggering the fight or flight response when perceiving physical threats. Think about the hunter gatherer being confronted with a lion.
What else is fear?
F.E.A.R could be False Evidence Appearing Real. We can choose to believe False Evidence. Or we can choose to not believe the self talk swirling in our brain. We can short circuit the looping negative self talk, push through fear, and reframe rejection as a learning opportunity. What can I learn from this situation? What did I learn from this situation?
Today on the podcast we are chatting with the Founder of a business that teaches Real Estate Investing to Black and Brown youth. We touch on a few strategies to build wealth. We chat about artistic and creative expressions. We discuss the courage to be fearless with Pamela Rosario Perez.
