In this panel discussion, we hear from a panel of diverse authors from across literary styles and genres on the systemic issues faced by marginalized authors, how the publishing industry needs to reinvent itself, and how to think about writing characters and stories that are not from your own lived experience in terms of ethnicity, economic status, sexual orientation or gender identity. We deep dive into how to do diverse characters justice and how to avoid common pitfalls such as whitewashing and cultural appropriation.

Hosted by Shuffle Collective and The California Writers Club's San Francisco Peninsula branch.
