ReDIScover: Recent Episodes

Jess & Kristen

Jess & Kristen have a 12+ year friendship that evolved over their mutual enchantment with Disney and unabashed authenticity.

After years apart, separately pursuing their dreams at The Most Magical Place on Earth, this duo creatively reunited during 2020 when their paths were pivoted by the pandemic. ReDIScover gave them the opportunity to re-connect with and grow their online family.

ReDIScover is a podcast where we celebrate the childlike qualities that make up the essence of who we are, while engaging with the world around us - both authentically and imaginatively.

Each month features a new theme in which we share empowering stories that connect to the hearts and minds of our audience. It is a true testament to ReDIScovering what lights us up so we can create our most joyful & fulfilling lives… together!

We've been doing some restructuring, reimagining, and realigning here on rediscover, and this month's episode is the first of many that will focus on a singular topic through the lens of three distinctive arenas of life - our past experiences, present encounters, and ways we can expand that topic to create change in the future. This month, we're focusing on connection.

What is it? What does it mean to us? Where have we uncovered experiences in our past that reveal missed opportunities to find and cultivate connection? What does this concept mean to us in the present, and how do we see ourselves moving forward to expand our connections with others in the future? Connections are the heartbeat of our lives, and the communities that we build as a result have the power to sustain us through every human experience.

In times of joy and sadness, through every challenge and victory, it is our connections with one another that help recenter us. In every season, they guide us to rediscover who we were, remind us of who we are, and are the ones we rely on to encourage us as we continue on the journey toward becoming who we're meant to be.

Join us on the journey - we'd love to have you along! And stay tuned 'til the end of the episode for a little rediscover roundup with some fun wedding updates and a total mic drop announcement!!!

welcome back, rediscover fam! happy taurus season to all you late April/May babies, and happy 31st birthday to our very own Jessica Faye! Jess is a Taurus through and through; her grounding energy holds space for everyone to find a safe space in her company, and her childlike spirit carries higher and higher with each passing year. as i told her on her birthday (5/08 baby!), she always knows when to fly and when to land. it is a privilege to be her friend and partner on this rediscover journey, and as always, today's episode is full of her beautiful perspective on life, love, and new beginnings.

and speaking of new beginnings, I have a pretty major life update to share in this ep, so stay tuned for that! and in the midst of our devolvements about Ted Lasso, the new season of Bridgerton, Little Words Project (my current gig!) and of course, status updates on wedding plans, we're also giving our candid thoughts on Taylor Swift's latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, as well as the changes to the Eras Tour as it makes its way through Europe.

this month's episode is all about embracing change when it feels aligned, finding beauty in the contrast (and the chaos), and shifting perspectives. when everything feels like it's happening all at once and life feels overwhelming, saying "I GET to do this" instead of "I HAVE to do this" can make all the difference in the world. Abandoning that sense of obligation, stress, frustration, and anxiety for feelings of gratitude, excitement, joy, and purpose will bring you peace in every seaosn and circumstance, and just that small shift has the power to change your life - we promise.

Welcome back, rediscover fam! Last month we worked through a lot of emotions, and now as we spring into April we have a joy-filled episode to share with you all.

First and foremost, we have a major wedding update - Kristen said yes to her dream wedding dress! 👰🏻‍♀️ She is going to tell us the full story and some lessons learned during the process. Also, in true rediscover fashion, she will mythbust what wedding dress shopping is really like vs. what we see on TV, as well as share some helpful, tangible wedding dress shopping tips that you can take into your own experience.

Additionally, as far as our world traveler goes, Jess is feeling rejuvenated and excited to share about this next portion of Nomad Life Phase 2 - Morocco, Egypt, and Kenya. These destinations are incredibly unique, and with so much newness comes an incredible amount of growth! So we're excited to dive into cultural differences and personal reflections from this chapter of the journey.

We're happy to have you here for another conversation full of rediscovery. We love you all and thank you so much for listening! ☕️

hey, rediscover fam. this month's episode is a little different from our more recent ones. in our own ways, we've both been feeling a little vulnerable, a little refelctive, a little...low. so, in the spirit of staying true to our pillar of authenticity, we're pulling back the curtain and sharing some of the more challenging mindsets we've been trying to shift recently, and the internal battles that we've each struggled to overcome. this episode might have a less vibrant feel than usual, and our tone might be more subdued, but this conversation is one of the most real, raw, and honest ones we've ever had on the show. we'll discuss: * the self-care industry and the innumerable marketing schemes that try to sell us a "better" life than the one we're living now * how being a chronic "fixer" can cause us to create problems where there were none * the pressures and expectations of having a social media presence, and how living life online can blur boundaries and breed unrealistic expectations * societal expectations and how major life milestones can cause a tidal wave of unsolicited opinions * why we feel guilty for having bad days when we're supposed to be happy * & more!

if you're in the midst of a challenging season, a significant life change, or you're just working on abandoning old minsets for new and more supportive ones, we hope this episode provides a little wisdom, a bit of solidarity, and a place to begin. we love you all, thanks for listening!

Hello everyone and welcome back to rediscover! We officially have two engaged girlies here on rediscover now, as Jess just got to experience her own magical proposal while out traveling in Finland! Listen along so you can hear the full story!

The engagement happened less than 48 hours before recording this episode, so we had the very special opportunity to record Kristen's live reaction to finding out the news. This is such a cherished memory and milestone in our journeys, and we're so glad you're all here with us as it unfolds.

We are both officially entering our bridal era with full hearts, open minds, and more excitement than younger versions of ourselves could've ever imagined.

Happy New Year, rediscover fam! Instead of sprinting into 2024, we're easing into the marathon of a brand new year with new perspectives, mindset shifts, and realizations that we can turn into lasting resolutions. Instead of cultivating unrealistic goals and expectations, we're exploring the small changes that have the potential to create big, impactful ripples in our lives this year, and dismantling the societal idealization of New Years resolutions that can leave us feeling burnt out, drained, and uninspired. We hope that some of our intentions for the year ahead will inspire you, and that you'll come along with us as we lean (gently) into a new year of rediscovering our most authentic selves, together. So cuddle up with a blanket, turn on those twinkle lights, and wrap both hands around your mug of something cozy, because we're welcoming the new year in our hygge era! Welcome back to rediscover, fam! This month's episode covers a full spectrum of topics, from fun and exciting life updates and travel plans to an in-depth examination of how to abandon societal norms, expectations, and timelines for a life filled with happiness and contentment in the here and now.

On the fun and exciting end of the spectrum, we're chatting about the highly anticipated release of 1989 (Taylor's Version)!!! We're taking it back to the 1989 era and the album's initial relase in 2014, reminiscing and rediscovering where we were and what was going on in our lives at the time. It's incredible how much that album shaped our experiences by simply playing in the background of our lives almost a decade ago, and the milestones moments that will forever be tied to those songs.

And speaking of milestone moments, Jess and Steven are about to embark on PHASE 2 of nomad life, and you won't BELIEVE where their world travel adventures are taking them next! As always, Jess has insight, inspiration, tips and advice to share as they get ready to head back out into the great wide somewhere. It's going to be pure magic, so don't miss it!

As we plunge deeper into our conversation and round out the episode, we're examining closely the words and language we use to describe our circumstances, and how shifting our perspectives and diminishing both negativity and systemic fear can help us to find joy and fulfillment in every season. We're learning how to block out the "shoulds," pave our own path, and remind ourselves that no matter where we are on our journey, we're exactly where we're meant to be.

That's something to contemplate as the holiday season approaches, and we hope that our experiences and all that we've learned and discovered (or rediscovered) about ourselves will help you to embody your fullest, most authentic self in every context that you find yourself in. So if you're at Thanksgiving dinner and you notice the conversation steering itself in your direction, we're with you in solidarity and in spirit - you've got this!

Happy Thanksgiving from our little rediscover fam to you and yours - we're so thankful to be on this wild and wonderful journey with you!

Welcome back to another episode of rediscover! rediscover has officially been around for 3 whole years, can you believe it?!

Today's episode was recorded on September 17th, which was rediscover's original release date back in 2020. Whether you are a brand new listener or an OG, we are so thankful to have you as part of our rediscover fam.

Today's episode honors the journey we have been on, not only with this podcast but within life itself. There is no ultimate "outcome" with what we do here - only an evolution of styles, topics, lessons, and connections.

Our conversation today also dove into reevaluating our "why" of posting on social media. It feels like there's a change in the winds in the way we share and consume content. It will be exciting to see how it all unfolds!

Whether it be social media or something else, we realize how important it is to detach and be the observer of everything that crosses our paths. We know these things are not who we are but rather something we do or experience - and that makes for a whole different approach.

When you practice the "law of unwavering faith" things often happen within the 11th hour. So let's reflect on past examples of where instances like this unfolded, accept that doubt can exist in the process, and relax in the Knowing that everything truly happens in its perfect time.

Journal Prompt Mentioned: (credit to Kathrin Zenkina)

We're sharing some incredible full-circle moments, personal growth epiphanies, and a BIG life announcement! With Mercury still in the microwave...what else could you expect!?

this month's episode is a celebration of the here and now, not what's coming next or all the things that came before. it's an opportunity to practice presence, and we hope you'll find peace and contentment in joining us in this space. the (intentional) wedding plans can wait...we're savoring September! 🍁🍂☕️

Buckle up girls, gays, theys, and golden retriever boyfriends because this episode is for you. It’s a summer for the girls and today on rediscover WE ARE GETTING INTO IT!

Why is it a summer for the girls, you ask? Well, to put it simply, it's the summer of The Eras Tour and The Barbie Movie. What a magnificent time to be alive! We are bringing you full reviews, first impressions, and truly celebrating what it means to be a woman.

The journey of womanhood is one of so much beauty, but also has so many complexities and layers. It can be extremely humbling at times, especially when we need to question our own views that have been fed to us from the lens of the patriarchal structure we were born into. It's exciting to break down these walls, see things from a more curious and neutral standpoint, and to choose AGAIN for the highest good of all. It's such a gift to be able to reclaim and nurture our innate feminine nature.

So today, we'll talk Taylor Swift. We'll talk Barbie. We're going to go into some deep spiritual growth topics and even stock up your summer reading list! This episode is the perfect one for Leo season and we're so excited to have this super fun (and important!) conversation with you. 💖

Hello everyone and welcome back to rediscover! While last month's episode was very grounded in true Taurus season nature, this month's episode took us for a chaotic ride as Gemini season is in full swing. We started the episode off by easing into some typical conversations about summertime excitement, checking in on Jess' Costa Rica Travels, and sending love to our pets who are sick or passed on.

As the episode continues, Steven enters the scene with an ear infection, the air conditioner in Jess's hostel needed repairs, we lost half of a zoom recording, and Kristen's calm night of dog-sitting turned into monitoring a tick!

However, even with all of that chaos, we still had time to discuss the Live-Action remake of The Little Mermaid.

So if you're looking for a more real and raw rediscover episode, this one is for you. Thanks for sticking with us through ALL seasons of time, and we will talk to you soon!

Welcome back to rediscover! It's Taurus season, and this month's conversation is all about slowing down and getting grounded in our most authentic selves. We're going inward and examining the spaces that we want to heal, nurture, and grow, and that require vulnerability.

From contemplating the concepts of sober curiosity and intentional drinking to surrendering to our circumstances and unpacking what it means to truly design a life that is aligned with our most honest desires, we are digging deep into what it means to know who you are and live accordingly. We're getting comfortable with being uncomfortable, and with being on the outside looking in. Being authentic has nothing to do with being liked or admired, but everything to do with feeling content in our day-to-day lives and comfortable in our own skin. It's not always easy, and it definitely takes time, but we're here to help you out along the way; to hold space for whatever you're walking through and remind you that you're never alone.

We hope you resonate with today's conversation and that you feel like you're right here with us - sitting on Jess' bedroom floor, two hands wrapped around a cup of something cozy, having a chat with your best friends. Thank you so much for being here, and we'll talk to you again in June!

Welcome back to rediscover! We did a little "spring cleaning" on today's episode - revisiting some old topics from the past and diving into some new ones!

Some of the new and lighthearted subjects we talked about today are the weddings we've attended recently, as well as the upcoming excitement for high school reunions! One of the more technical topics we discussed is how important it is to back up your photos and videos to external storage, how to do it, and the emotional roller coaster that comes along with revisiting your past self.

Rewinding back to 2021, we revisited the conversations centered around social media usage and patterns in dating. Now that we've learned so much about health effects and subconscious mindset work, it's really incredible to see how our perspectives have evolved since then. It's really empowering to make choices from a more conscious space rather than just going on autopilot, and we hope to always continue growing these areas for the years to come!

We hope you enjoy today's conversation and that you feel like you're right here along with us - sitting on Jess' bedroom floor, chatting with your gal pals, and sipping on a cup of something cozy. Thank you for being here and we'll talk to you again in May!

Welcome back to rediscover! Today's episode features a beautifully unhinged array of topics - from career shifts and travel plans to observations we're making about the world around us and how we're rediscovering ourselves in this transitional season. As we begin to ease out of winter and look forward to the hope and rejuvenation that springtime brings, we're checking in with each other (and with you!) and holding space for all of the changes that are coming our way, and all of the exciting things on the horizon! Together, we're learning to dance with our fear and embracing all the possibilities of the unknown, and finding small but powerful ways to experience peace in the "now" and savor the moment.

We hope you find our conversations both empowering and validating, and that you'll come back next time, on the first Tuesday of the month, for a brand new episode. This is a space held for you to feel seen, known, and understood, and while we continue to rediscover ourselves, we hope you'll feel like you're right here with us, holding on to a cup of something cozy and settled in for a chat with two best friends!

After a several-month hiatus, rediscover is BACK and better than ever. We have reunited in the New Year and are taking a brand new approach to the way we create our beloved podcast.

Moving forward, our episodes are going to be much less structured and flow more like a “coffee shop-style” chat. We’re going to speak about whatever is on our hearts and minds at the time of recording, to truly capture the most authentic real-time experience possible. We can’t wait to see how we grow over the year!

Today’s episode was recorded in the middle of January, where we are deep in wintertime “rest mode." We are experiencing a slowed-down pace with lots of inward reflection, which is in the process of revealing what is most important to us. We discussed everything from the inconsistencies of the “work-life balance” concept in real-time, to how subconscious beliefs unknowingly drive our actions. And we even did a thorough recap on what’s been going on with both of us for the last six months - which has been full of adventure, rediscovery, and even love!

We are so happy to be back and so grateful to have you here. With our new schedule, we will be releasing new episodes on the first Tuesday of every month. We are so excited to continue rediscovering life together! We’ll see you next time!

Welcome back to ReDIScover for another heart-centered conversation! Today we are joined by Lucy Shiplee, who is truly one of the most passionate people we know. Lucy is someone who creates her life around doing what she loves every day, and those choices have truly taken her around the world and back! We are continuing "London Bridge" month, and it just so happens that Lucy is from London, England! She just moved back to London actually - for the past decade, Lucy has been off doing SEVEN contracts with Disney Cruise Line, as well as a Cultural Representative Program at EPCOT. Lucy is the perfect person to talk about the UK vs. US cultural differences because she lived it first-hand for so many years. (and taught us so much on this episode!) Also in today's conversation, you will hear all about Lucy's realities of ship life and the CRP and what kept her going during her most intensive seasons. The episode wraps up with some deep introspection about how you can cultivate your most passionate life and how to check in with yourself to make sure you are spending your time on this earth doing what you love to do. Lucy is a complete inspiration and such a bright light in this world. We hope you enjoy this chat "with the girls" and leave feeling just a little bit more inspired and empowered than you were before.

Welcome back to ReDIScover, everyone! Today's episode is going to look at some Disney Women we admire through the lens of how they defied gender "norms" in their stories, societies, and cultures. These characters set great examples of women stepping out of age-old constructs into a new, better, and more authentic way of living.

Whether they were a woman who was:

  • Sneaking off to war in place of her father, even when it was forbidden for women 🐉
  • So much more than the "most beautiful (and misunderstood) girl in town" 🥀
  • Wanting to choose who she spent her life with instead of marrying for the sake of an age-old law 🕌
  • Or a woman with a vision, whose gender and financial situation did not determine her ability to create her dream business whatsoever 🐸

We hope the characters in this episode re-inspire you to step into your power. Let us all be reminded that gender roles are mere constructs that we, just like these heroines, are very capable of overcoming. Being authentically who you are on the inside is completely unrelated to society's explanation of "gender," and your truth will always prevail. ♡

Welcome back, ReDIScover fam! As you guys may already know, Disney and Spirituality are two of our all-time favorite topics to discuss. So, today's episode is going to be a Disney and Spirituality infusion!

We each chose a Disney movie we felt pulled to and picked out the Spiritual themes we noticed within the characters or throughout the plot. Some themes include: following your intuition, trusting yourself, surrendering to change, and self-discovery.

Whether you're mystified by the Enchanted Forest, feel called to be a Voyager out on the Ocean, or are enchanted by floating Golden Lanterns in the sky 😉 you're definitely going to want to give this episode a listen. Maybe we'll shine some light on aspects of these movies you've never even thought of before!

AS A BONUS: We invited our sweet sweet friend, Emily Bonnet, to join the conversation. She is a spiritual being and Disney enthusiast, just like ourselves. Her fairy-like nature, wise insights, and genuine heart were such a great contribution to this episode!

We are kicking off Season 3 of ReDIScover by having a conversation with Hayley Morris - a lifelong comedian and digital creator who may be one of the most clever people creating videos on TikTok and Instagram Reels today!

After having to leave her UK Cultural Representative Program at Disney during the pandemic, Hayley dipped into her lifelong passion for comedy as she tried to figure out what was next. She got a glimmer of inspiration to film a "Me vs. Brain" skit about intrusive thoughts... and it completely charmed the internet with its utter relatability!

Ever since, Hayley has made loads of hilarious videos with characters based on the human body including Brain, Period, Stomach, Vagina, Liver, Bladder, Poop, Pee - you name it! These characters come to life with their own unique personalities and hilarious outfits and, in the videos, they actually have a chat with Hayley herself. We promise you’ll laugh your butts off. (oh yeah, Butt is a character, too!)

During today's interview, we got to ask Hayley more about her journey, her creative process, and her feelings about manifesting more than 1 million followers after creating content for over 10 years! We are so thrilled to celebrate Hayley and her dream come true, and we are sure you will love her just as much as we do!

Happy New Year, everyone! As we dream and plan for an incredible year full of creativity, authenticity, and fun surprises, we’re kicking off 2022 by re-releasing one of our most iconic episodes of all time: our conversation with the talented, beautiful, incomparable Stacey Aswad!

From 2005 to 2021, Stacey J. Aswad graced Walt Disney World Resort television and now has a permanent place in our hearts. She is someone we have looked up to for years and getting to host her on ReDIScover was an absolute dream come true.

In this episode, we, of course, talked so much about Disney. However, this conversation turned into a true heart-to-heart about all aspects of life. We discussed everything from living your truth, trusting yourself, following your instincts, dealing with crossroads in life, being your own best friend, and embodying fearlessness. All while sharing lots of laughs and going on some glorious tangents for you to enjoy!

Stacey is a true "student of life" and she brought forth such knowledge and wisdom. We hope you learn as much as we did and take some inspiration with you moving forward into the new year (and beyond!). Thank you again, Stacey, for joining us, and thank you all for listening!

There are so many ways to describe Christmas… enchanting, romantic, beautiful, and full of wonderment. Coincidentally, all of those words also describe the city of Paris!

Bonjour everyone and welcome back to ReDIScover! With Jess continuing her nomadic journey during this month of December, we wanted to dedicate this episode to ReDIScovering what Paris is like during Christmastime. We will get Jess’ first-hand perspective of the Parisian holiday experience, as well as some historic and traditional background from Kristen after several years of research. (and yes, of course we are going to talk about Christmas Markets!)

Since we always have a Disney element involved, we will wrap up the episode by comparing what the holidays are like in Walt Disney World vs. Disneyland Paris! And why Jess thinks Disneyland Paris is a strong contender for the most “Christmassy” Disney Park experience around the globe.

Thank you all for a FULL YEAR of ReDIScovering. We have laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve traveled, and we’ve learned so, so much. We appreciate you being here and wish each and every one of you a magical 2022! Joyeux Noel!

To put a big, sparkly bow on top of our month honoring Extraordinary Women doing Incredible Things, we wanted to showcase our dear friend, Taylor, whose story has more layers than an elaborately decorated Christmas tree.

Taylor's story is Hallmark Movie-worthy, but everything she shares is truly her Real Life - exactly like her brand. She has been living a life of authenticity all along and manifesting one thing to the next, without even knowing it.

At Taylor's core, she has constantly been following her Mom's advice of "everything happens for a reason," and it has led her on quite an incredible path.

This episode is Taylor's Version, and she is going to share about:

  • Following her instincts on when to live (and not to live) in Orlando during College
  • Her experience as a Fairy Godmother in Training at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique - both in Cinderella's Castle and aboard the Disney Fantasy
  • The real-life fairytale of meeting her (now) husband, Julien, and how they managed long-distance from the States to Canada for 4 years
  • What the process has been like moving to Canada during a pandemic
  • Her absolute love of all things Christmas
  • And an overview and some behind-the-scenes perspective of Taylor's small business, Gingerbread Couture!

It's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you, so BUCKLE UP for this very entertaining storytime with Taylor.

Thank you for honoring so many incredible women with us all month long and we hope you enjoy listening!

To continue a spectacular month filled with Unconventional Women doing Incredible Things, we interviewed Lia Russo who has such an inspiring story to tell.

Passionate and driven, Lia is someone who takes life by the horns (in true Aries fashion) and chases after her dreams. She believes that desires are planted in your heart for a reason, and they begin as small whispers that can turn into truly remarkable journeys.

The unfolding of Lia's story (so far) absolutely proves that. As our conversation progresses, you'll be able to see the interwoven connection between each piece we discuss. From our trip reporting days on the Disboards over 10 years ago, to Lia's lifelong acting career, to owning her own entertainment party company, and so much more, you'll be able to hear how Lia's resilience to chase after what sets her soul on fire has filled her life to the absolute brim.

Welcome back to ReDIScover! It’s a brand new month, and we’re bringing in a brand new theme that we’re SO excited to talk about. All November long, we’re navigating the new normal of our world as it relates to our journey as women creating the lives we dream of living. We’ll have special guests on the pod to share their stories, perspectives, and advice, but today we’re unpacking what it means to us to build a life that reflects and aligns with our values and mindsets.

As a society, we’re moving away from conventional timelines and workplace dynamics. In 2021, “success” means something different to everybody, and we want to talk about why it’s so important to have these conversations and engage in those spaces where we challenge the projected beliefs of our culture.

We’ll discuss our own experiences, the challenges we’ve met along the way, the difference between talking and doing, and the women who have and continue to inspire us.

No matter your gender, age, or life path, we hope you’ll find this conversation entertaining and instructive, and we hope it serves as a source of encouragement as you author your own story. Enjoy!

Before the departure of ReDIScover's Travel Month, we wanted to have a conversation with someone who really embodies a world traveler's spirit, and that person is Steven Daniel!

Steven is a fellow Disney lover and traveler, whose passions propelled him so far that he had the opportunity to take a position at Disney English in Nanjing, China. With little to no knowledge of what the city of Nanjing had in store, Steven dove in headfirst to a two-year adventure as an expat in China and learned so many incredible things along the way.

For those who have contemplated living abroad, this is truly the episode for you! It is full of resources and perspectives of someone who has actually done it. We asked Steven how to handle international logistics, how to adapt to new cultures and environments, how to make friends while living in a completely new country, what types of challenges may come up, and the best tips that he accumulated along the way.

We couldn't finish ReDIScover Summer School without talking about our all-time favorite extra-curricular activity - Musical Theater! So, for today's episode, we thought we'd bring in a professional!

Today we welcomed Stephanie Styles to the ReDIScover stage, who is not only a life-long musical theater performer but also a film and television actor. As well as a huge Disney fan!

Throughout Stephanie's life and career, she has consistently stayed grounded in her authenticity and her true self no matter where her path has lead her. Hello and welcome back to ReDIScover Summer School! This week's episode has a bit of a nostalgic structure combined with some really thought-provoking content. We asked YOU GUYS to submit questions in an "Ask Abby" format (or in our case, "Ask J+K") as if we were writing an anonymous advice column in a school newspaper. Trust me when I say this - these questions do not disappoint!

We talked about various topics including feeling "old," the post-college job search comparison trap, dealing with expectations not being met, how to stay motivated to create content when people can be judgemental on the internet, and good ol' imposter syndrome.

This episode is definitely a DEEP DIVE but it has such relatable topics. Thank you all so much for your submissions and we hope you enjoy!

**DISCLAIMER: This is not medical or professional advice, it is all based on our own personal experiences and points of view. Please take what resonates and leave what doesn't.

To wrap up a month-long celebration of Motherhood, we invited our dear friend Vickie on the podcast to discuss what it's like to be a brand new Mom!

You may remember Vickie from the "good old days" when the Bathrobe Princesses were born! The three of us went to high school together and time has been flying ever since. This episode is truly a full-circle moment!

Vickie just recently experienced pregnancy, birth, and becoming a first-time Mom to her newborn Declan, which is a huge life milestone in itself. However, she also had the unexpected curveball of doing this all during a worldwide pandemic.

It was amazing to get Vickie's insights on this transition into Motherhood, learning how to prioritize her well-being while balancing her nursing career, and the deep love she feels for her son.

Today we feature one of our most personal episodes on ReDIScover yet. We had the absolute honor of interviewing Jess' Mom (Shari / Momma Shar) to discuss the vocation of being a Mother.

Every Mother has a different story. Momma Shar's journey is very unique and completely infused with love. We started off the conversation by reminiscing about pregnancy as well as reflecting on the heartbreak of miscarriage. We reviewed every stage of life from infant to toddler to school-age to adult.

We discussed the choice of being a stay-at-home Mom and what that meant to Shari's family. We relived the bittersweet feelings of what it's like when your child grows up and moves away. We even talked about the dynamic of an adult mother-daughter relationship. As well as everything in between!

Shari embodies such a faithful spirit. Her perspective offers a lens on Motherhood that is authentically heart-centered and full of unconditional love. From being present and cherishing every moment, to letting go, trusting, and surrendering, Shari reminds us that each stage of life, and being a Mother, is truly a precious gift.

Through all of the laughs and all of the tears, this episode is an absolute treasure. We hope you enjoy!

Welcome back to ReDIScover! This month, we’ll be exploring the intricacies and joys of the mother-child relationship, as well as everything we’ve learned from our own moms. Not to get ahead of ourselves...before we can talk about motherhood, we have to talk about childhood!

This week, we’re getting in touch with our inner child by ReDIScovering who we are inherently and how to engage that part of ourselves that so often gets lost in the shuffle of adult routines, obligations, and distractions.

If you’ve listened to this podcast before, you’ve heard us discuss the concept of being childlike versus childish amongst ourselves and with our various guests.

Today, we’re unpacking the pillars of embracing your childlike spirit and how it can truly transform your life. From reconnecting with childlike wonder and awe to learning how to trust in a world that seeks to cultivate self-doubt at every turn, today’s episode is for everyone who wants to create a more beautiful, fulfilling, enchanting life. Welcome back to ReDIScover! Today is Part 2 of "Spring Cleaning Month" and we are having a discussion about tidying up more of an emotionally-based space.

Join us today for a heart-to-heart style conversation all about the concept of Cultivating Happiness.

Happiness is a topic that sparks curiosity and deep analysis for both of us. Just to give you a preview of the episode, we discussed things such as external circumstances vs. inner reality, becoming aware of how you talk to yourself, inherent worthiness, and the concept of "being content." We also noticed that our spiritual and happiness journeys often correlate, so this episode has a large spiritual component!

This is definitely one of ReDIScover's higher-level conversation episodes and we hope it opens the door for your own self-discovery! Ultimately, we've found that happiness comes down to perspective, choice, and finding joy in the little things. So, enjoy the ride and happy listening!

Happy March, everyone! We have titled this month's theme on ReDIScover "Spring Cleaning" and to kick things off, we have a very special episode for you! Today’s episode is all about cleaning up your thoughts and your mind with deliberate manifesting.

We talk about Law of Attraction and Manifesting on ReDIScover quite frequently, so we thought it would be an amazing opportunity to invite Amy Westmoreland, a Professional Manifesting Coach and Expert, on the show to teach us more about this magical concept.

Jess is extremely passionate about Manifestation, while Kristen is more of a beginner. We both have to say that this episode was absolutely mind-blowing. We covered everything from manifesting money to relationships to a rainbow.

We asked Amy questions to de-bunk some stereotypical manifesting “myths” such as: “does manifesting conflict with my religious beliefs?” or “is manifesting an inherently selfish practice?” Her insight was so clarifying!

We also dove into techniques on how to actually manifest in our own lives. Amy gives you her four-step process (1. Focus 2. Believe 3. Release Resistance and 4. Detach) so you can try this on your own at home!

We talk about manifesting spiritually, we talk about it scientifically… it ultimately comes down to getting your conscious mind to the belief that “all things are possible.” We are excited for you to join us for this eye-opening episode and hope you have fun learning something new!

Welcome back to ReDIScover! This week, we’re continuing on with our month-long exploration of all things Love & Relationships with an episode dedicated to growing in seasons of Singleness.

Whether you’re newly single, feeling like you’re caught in a perpetuating cycle, or thriving in your single life, we’ve broken down the stages of Singleness. We've highlighted each with grace, mindfulness practices, and our favorite ways to show ourselves true care and faithful love.

This is definitely an emotional episode; the journey to feel empowered in singleness is not always linear, and is almost never easy. However, we’re here to offer the truth of our experience in the hopes that you will find new and impactful ways to feel joyful and free in this season that really is all about you. Enjoy!

CONTENT WARNING: Medical Content/Health Issues/Bodily Functions

Welcome back to ReDIScover! This week, we’re wrapping up our January deep-dive into physical health and wellness by giving you some insight into our own personal wellness journeys.

In the past, you may have heard us talk about toxic mold exposure, adverse vaccine reactions, digestive issues, and mental health battles. So, this is the episode that gives you the full description. We’re getting really vulnerable here; these have truly been some of the darker moments in our stories.

We are so grateful to have ReDIScover as a safe place to share this with you in the hopes that you might find some encouragement and solidarity in our experiences.

If you are triggered by conversations surrounding bodily functions and illness, we encourage you to use discretion while listening.

Disclaimer - we are not medical professionals, so any resources we mentioned are based on personal experience with trial and error. We both found healing through holistic and integrative medicine modalities, but we understand this may not resonate with everyone. We are not claiming our perceptions to be universally "true" or "correct," they are merely experiential. If you do find yourself in a space where you need support, please seek professional medical assistance.

January Wellness Month is officially in full swing! This week we wanted to bring on someone who professionally specializes in wellness as her life's work - Ali Bourgerie!

Ali is a certified nutritionist who focuses mainly on holistic nutrition. She builds relationships with each individual client, taking time to understand their unique microbiome, interests, activities, and health goals/concerns in order to start them on a path to a healthier lifestyle, more energy, and total wellness.

Her philosophy is to tune in to your body, keep things simple, and choose to consume as many whole foods as possible! The human body is capable of some truly amazing things when fueled properly.

This episode was so much fun because not only did we get to pick Ali's brain, but Jess has personally worked with Ali as a client in her 1 on 1 coaching program during the toughest portion of her health journey. This episode truly serves as a live testimonial for all that Ali and her business, Shifting Nutrition, has to offer.

Welcome back! In Season 2 of ReDIScover, we will highlight a unique series each month, with each week’s episode tying into the monthly theme. In January, we’re talking all about physical health and wellness.

Content Warning: body image/disordered eating

Today, as we unpack our perceived realities of diet culture, intuitive eating, and food freedom. We are sharing very personal stories and experiences. This is a very vulnerable episode, but we hope that by sharing our journeys, insecurities, realizations, and resources for growth, you will begin this new year with grace and love for your unique and capable self.

*Disclaimer: Everything we talk about in this episode is based on our personal points of view and experiences. This is a difficult and sensitive topic, and everyone perceives it differently. Since 2005, Stacey J. Aswad has graced Walt Disney World Resort television and has made her way into our hearts. She is someone we have looked up to for years and getting to host her on ReDIScover was an absolute dream come true.

In this episode, we, of course, talked so much about Disney. However, this conversation turned into a true heart to heart about all aspects of life.

It is truly the most beautiful kickstart to 2021 and Season 2 of ReDIScover. This week’s episode of ReDIScover is a nostalgic trip down memory lane. If you were an active trip report reader on the DISboards in 2011-2013, you are not going to want to miss this one!

This week, we pulled up two of our most beloved trip reports, read them out loud, and recorded our real-time reactions. We have not read these entries since 2011, so it was amazing coming back to reflect on them almost 10 years later. There is something really special about reconnecting with your younger self, seeing how you've grown and changed, and also realizing how much is actually still the same.

The trip reports we reflected on were:

  • The Port Report: Frumpin’ Around the World with the Bathrobe Princesses
  • “There’s No Sleeping in Disney!” SURPRISE – The Frumps are Back Again!

*The majority of images have since been lost due to the hosting site no longer supporting them

*Both reports were written by and from the perspective of 2011 Jess, however in this episode we both split up reading different portions aloud!

A special thanks to Kelly (@knshaw3) for submitting this idea for an episode!

Welcome to the very first episode of ReDIScover! We are your hosts, Jess and Kristen! As a kick-off to our podcast, we wanted to take you on a trip down memory lane. This episode talks about how Disney has impacted our lives during so many different phases - beginning with childhood stories to finding a community of people with a common love for Disney... to even living right in the middle of the magic! Major pieces like DisBoards and The Disney College Program were building blocks in our journeys, and we hope you enjoy hearing some first-hand insight and reflection from the "frumps."

Welcome everybody to ReDIScover - a podcast hosted by long-time friends, Jess and Kristen. You may have known us in the past as "The Frumps," and now, almost 10 years later, we are "ReDIScovering" the ways we can create together and connect with you! This podcast, of course, talks lots about Disney, but it touches on a little bit of everything. Our intention is to have conversations that really get down to the essence of who we are and to discuss how to live authentically and imaginatively.
