From Teaching Tolerance: "White privilege is—perhaps most notably in this era of uncivil discourse—a concept that has fallen victim to its own connotations. The two-word term packs a double whammy that inspires pushback. 1) The word white creates discomfort among those who are not used to being defined or described by their race. And 2) the word privilege, especially for poor and rural white people, sounds like a word that doesn’t belong to them—like a word that suggests they have never struggled. This defensiveness derails the conversation, which means, unfortunately, that defining white privilege must often begin with defining what it’s not. Otherwise, only the choir listens; the people you actually want to reach check out. White privilege is not the suggestion that white people have never struggled. Many white people do not enjoy the privileges that come with relative affluence, such as food security. Many do not experience the privileges that come with access, such as nearby hospitals. And white privilege is not the assumption that everything a white person has accomplished is unearned; most white people who have reached a high level of success worked extremely hard to get there. Instead, white privilege should be viewed as a built-in advantage, separate from one’s level of income or effort." "Systemic Racism includes the policies and practices entrenched in established institutions, which result in the exclusion or promotion of designated groups. It differs from overt discrimination in that no individual intent is necessary. It manifests itself in two ways: institutional racism: racial discrimination that derives from individuals carrying out the dictates of others who are prejudiced or of a prejudiced society structural racism: inequalities rooted in the system-wide operation of a society that excludes substantial numbers of members of particular groups from significant participation in major social institutions." There is one person that knows you the best. You. What do you do when you health issues and you aren't getting the right answers? What do you do when you think there is more to health than where you are? Have you ever wondered if you could feel better?
My guest struggled with chronic illness until she found a solution that worked for her. Not only did she change her physical health, she transformed her mental health and her life.
Her inspiring story and infectious personality is just the inspiration we all need during this time of Covid-19.
Amy Cattaneo was boorn and raised in the Bronx, New York, Amy had a typical NYC childhood. After falling in love with accounting in high school, she decided to get her MBA in Accounting. Amy went to work for one of the Big Four accounting firms right after graduating and life was good.
Until she noticed that she was always getting sick, stressed out of her mind and was just simply miserable, despite having a great life on paper.
So she decided to change EVERYTHING about what she was doing. She became a raw vegan, started exercising regularly and devoured information on health. Slowly but surely, she started to feel better, her skin cleared up and she noticed she wasn't getting sick anymore.
This change also led Amy to realize her true passion was helping people. She and her husband eventually went on to own a personal training studio in Allen, TX which they now have owned and operated for 10 years.
Amy is a certified personal trainer, a certified Precision Nutrition Coach, a certified Robbins Madanes Life Coach, and a certified Essential Oil Coach.
Today, Amy helps people become happier and healthier through the power of essential oils and runs the Nutrition Department at her training studio.

First off, the term jerk is genderless. . This book should be required reading for all people that are of dating age and reread again after any unsatisfactory relationship. .
The world would be a healthier place indeed. .
I’ve listened to this book and chapters of this book 5 different times on @audible. .
I’ve recommended this book to countless friends that have loved it! .
No one is taught relationship skills. Maybe your parents talked about it. Maybe they didn’t? .
You definitely watched your parents relationship behavior and those around and drew knowledge and behavior from that. .
Not all of us had good examples and bad examples tend to put us in danger for falling in love with jerks. .
On the other side of that coin, if you don’t know what to look for, you can be fooled! .
John Van Epp, therapist, former adjunct professor, author and lecturer, is the President and Founder of LoveThinks, LCC, an organization dedicated to the development of resources that promote healthy individuals and relationships.
Dr. Van Epp’s evidence-based relationship programs were developed from the combination of his twenty-five years of clinical counseling in his private practice, of his previous position as founding pastor of a nondenominational church, and of his extensive reviews of research in premarital, marital and family relations from teaching graduate marriage and family coursework as an adjunct professor.

Do you feel stuck? Is life not going the way you want to? Do you think there is more than what you are experiencing now? Are you suffering from illness or loss? ... Life isn’t a spectator sport. .
"The twelve stages of healing offers fascinating insights into the complex relationship between mind, emotions, and body, and show how to promote greater health in our bodies, and harmony in our relationships.” — from the book, The 12 Stages of Healing by Donald Epstein and Nathaniel Altman.
. My guest are going to talk about how the 12 stages of healing are a road map of the rhythms of consciousness that we go through in our way toward wholeness and true healing. . . Dr. Amy Gunderson-Lewis Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Amy always had a love for nature, life, adventure, and the outdoors. Knowing good health was the gateway for being able to experience all the magic life had to offer, she pursued a career in bodywork directly out of highschool. While working in various Chiropractic offices she was exposed to the philosophy and science of Chiropractic and it gripped her soul as a familiar calling. She then went to Parker University in Dallas, Texas where she obtained her Doctor of Chiropractice degree. While in Chiropractic school, Amy’s adrenals went into exhaustion creating many debilitating symptoms. She tried many different avenues with no success. A friend then told her about a Network Spinal Analysis Chiropractor. She figured she had nothing to lose and gave it a shot. The results were life changing! There was no doubt that this was the reason she was led down the Chiropractic path. After that, Amy went all in to learn this technique so she could pass this gift along. She now serves in Dallas, Texas at Self Ubound and is grateful to get to witness miracle after miracle everyday in the lives of their practice members.
. Dr. Tyler Lewis An Arkansas native, Dr. Tyler Lewis graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Inspired by the body’s innate wisdom to heal, Tyler attended Parker University in Dallas, Texas where he graduated with a Doctorate of Chiropractic in April 2016. At Parker, Tyler refined his attention to studying Consciousness and its effects on an individual’s total well-being. He first engrossed himself in the hardware of the brain, studying Functional Neurology through the Carrick Institute for two and a half years. He then found Network Spinal Analysis, which radically shifted his perceptions of Self, the Human Connection, and the nature of Purpose and Reality. This inspired Tyler to dedicate his life to practicing NSA. Today, Tyler serves the Dallas, Texas community at Self Unbound where he pours his soul into sharing the same revolutionary shift in well-being with everyone he contacts.

Change always sounds easy. Stop drinking. Stop smoking. Eat better. Go to sleep earlier. Leave that bad marriage.
... You get the point. However, ask anyone who has tried any of the above and they will tell you that change is anything but easy.
. Why do some people change and others don’t? . What brings change? . The truth is....nothing changes, unless something changes.
. Eric Fry is an entrepreneur and detox specialist who, almost out of necessity, became interested in health and wellness after a career in the liquor industry.
. After getting sober, Eric quickly followed his desire to help others and began studying under world-renown Naturopathic Doctor, Robert Morse. Like Dr. Morse, Fry supports a homeopathic approach to health, and includes fasting, fruitarianism and herbs as key tenants his practice. .
Eric supports yoga, meditation, breath-work, sounds bath; and all other vibrational enhancements. . Keeping inspired by other souls aiding in the asintion process, Eric has plans of doing his part by opening a donation-based Detoxification center. A private health club and healing center, Donation Detox will double as a tea house and herbal tincture bar by-night. This is because .
Eric trusts the recent literature that suggests addiction is most easily overcome by community. As the Donation Detox motto suggests ‘there’s nothing more intoxicating than a great conversation.’

The media shows what it wants to show. It’s directed by many factors. You’ve heard the phrase, “if it bleeds, it leads.”
This is not by accident. No one would tune in if the world was just fine.
There is also the element of one sided reporting. Or the quick report — and then no one sees the retraction. .
You’d be white if you thought there was no racism in America. .
A black man is thirteen times more likely to be murdered in this country than a white person. (Washington post) .
21% of black victims were UNARMED compared to 14% of white victims. .
WHERE you live matters - Black people are 6x more likely to be killed by police in Oklahoma than Georgia. .
13 of the 100 largest US city police departments kill black men at higher rates than the US murder rate.
ITS NOT ABOUT CRIME In Buffalo NY Population is 258,959 50% non white Violent crime 12 per 100K 0 people shot and killed from buffalo police 2013-2016
. Orlando FL Population is 255,483 42% non white Violent crime 9 per 100K 15 people shot and killed by Orlando police in 2013-2016 . . My guest grew up in South Louisiana and was there for the Alton Sterling protests. She’s hear to tell her truth. The truth you might not have seen from the comfort of your home. . Vianne’ Hall She is a 26 woman born and raised in South Louisiana (Baton Rouge/New Orleans). She is a lover of sports, food, tech, and politics. She has been working in the tech space for about 2 years now. She loves talking to people, hearing their thoughts on different situations, and hearing their life experiences; She feels it helps her grow as a person.
You’ve heard the antiquated and misogynistic phrase, “A woman’s place is in the kitchen.”
Why then are only 19% of chefs women? There’s a history that goes back to the 17th century on that. (Link in first comment)
What about toxic restaurant kitchen environments? Gordon Ramsey anyone?
Today with all the poisonous chemicals leaching into foods, overuse of antibiotics in livestock, oil and radioactive material in the ocean, etc. It’s even more important to know where your food is coming from.
Busy schedules and the ease of cheap and bad for you food make it easy to get caught in a trap.
“Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food.” This famous quote is often attributed to Hippocrates.
All food is not created equal.
There is one woman doing things Another Way!
We’re going to talk about all this and more!

Children are to be seen and not heard. Who in the world made this statement up?
The disservice begins here and only moves forward. Many people struggle with speaking up and asking for what they want, as well as setting boundaries.
We are going to talk about all this! From Laleh:
Avoiding confrontation. Dreading consequences. Trying not to offend or hurt someone. Naturally shy. Culturally sensitive. Or, just afraid to rock the boat. There are many reasons we may ‘bite our tongue’ and studies show just how often we choose to stay silent when we have something important to say:
69% of workplace managers resist communicating with their staff. 72% of employees say they don’t speak up at work when they feel they should. 74% of people are afraid of public speaking. 65% of therapists say breakdown in communication is the top cause of divorce.
My guest has lived an amazing life. Extraordinarily resilient, intelligent and definitely a women who knows how to speak up!

There is a reason clients return again and again to Salon Pompeo, Dallas’ premier full-service salon – creator and founder, Deanna DiPizio-Johnson. Her artistic vision, a shrewd business sense, and a unique idea for honest client relations, is what drove the Buffalo, NY native to open her first salon location on Dallas’ McKinney Avenue in 1995. At the age of 21, Deanna moved to New York City for advanced training at the world renowned Jingles Institute. It was there that she began to form her vision for what she felt would be the ideal salon experience.
After kissing the Big Apple goodbye, Deanna moved to Dallas to begin her career. She started working for someone else but quickly realized that was not for her. So at the age of 24, with nothing more than sheer resolve, confidence, and a personal guarantee that convinced everyone she was going to make it, Deanna opened her first location. But what to name it? Deanna’s grandfather was always someone she looked up to for his courage and hard work. So she paid him homage by naming her salon after him, Pompeo DiPizio.
The success of Salon Pompeo can be attributed to Deanna’s eye for talent and her knack for instructing new stylists. Assistants who have trained under her have gone on to have their own successful careers.
They credit her ‘tough as nails’ approach as something that drives them to be the best. DiPizio-Johnson is well known for her charity involvement.
One of the events closest to her heart is the annual Children’s Cancer Fashion Show. She says, “My staff and I truly believe this is one of the greatest events we are involved in each year. I’ve always believed in ‘paying it forward,’ and I’m proud that I can mentor my staff to share in this belief.”
Along with being a successful businesswoman, DiPizio-Johnson shares her busy life with her husband Jarrod and their two young children. In fact, no business endeavor has challenged or rewarded her like being a mom. She says, “Becoming a mother has been the single most amazing thing I’ve ever done.”

Sadly, it seems that everywhere you turn in the news, there’s somebody scamming somebody, stealing or misappropriating something.
As a woman, statistically, you’re more likely to be killed by your domestic partner than anyone else.
Up until my 20’s, if you would’ve asked me how many really good men I knew, it would be under five.
What you don’t see and what the world needs to see more of, is people like TJ Frank.
TJ is not only a game changer and savvy entrepreneur, he’s a truly great man!! A guy with values and integrity and a wonderful family man!
You can be successful and do it right! I can’t wait to talk to TJ today!
“TJ Frank was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He was class of ‘93 at The Lamplighter School and graduated from Southern Methodist University. After college, he was involved in music production and land development, but always had a passion for the service industry. In 2007, TJ and a lifelong friend opened Southpaws Grill, a healthy fast-casual eatery.
TJ decided to get into real estate in 2017 because he wanted to create opportunities that were beyond his current endeavors. Architecture has always been a huge interest of his, and the potential creative use of spaces has recently become a passion. ✨ALLWays Another Way Podcast✨ ✨Ep: 88 - Vanity, Cancer and Purpose with Lisa Applewhite Kimbell✨ ✨Dec 5 at 1pCST✨
What do you do when your beauty is a moneymaker and it's taken away? What do you do when you are faced with addiction? What do you do when you are faced with cancer? What do you do when you are faced with infertility? What do you do when you are faced with bullying?
My guest has overcome all of these obstacles and her story of triumph over obstacles and her spirit of joy will inspire you.
My guest is Lisa Applewhite Kimbell Her aspirations as a young child were to be a model like her mother. Her mother was a beautiful, tall, 5’10 long legged red head siren. She was mistaken for Ava Gardner on many occasions. Lisa was only standing at 5 ft 7inches and had trouble getting runway work, so she did show room modeling mostly and did some print-work modeling for featured in various magazines.
She had always had a small beauty mark on her right cheek a couple of inches below her eye. She used to hate it until her mother pointed out that Marilyn Monroe had a beauty mark…as did Elizabeth Taylor. So she wore it proudly after that. As she grew older she felt like her modeling days were over and no roles were really coming in…and if they did…she thought she wasn’t right for the role. So, she became an esthetician….what better way to nurture and pamper people than to give them facials, enhance their skin and beauty and give makeovers.
Her story unfolds as she set out on the most self destructive journey of her life. Drugs, alcohol fueled rages and an arrest for possession landed her in treatment. She is now the owner of the Lisa Kimbell agency and her amazing story of triumph through trouble will inspire you.

There are hundreds of diets, exercise programs, gimmicks, tricks and traps to the “well balanced life.”
Eat this. Don’t eat that. Do this. Don’t do that. Too much. Too little.
Wait. Everyone is different.
What do you do?
How do you know which path is right?
My guest discovered the way to finding balance and is changing lives!
Don’t miss this exciting episode and learn how you can be the best you can be!
About Alix: My “work” is getting to lead people in living better and feeling their best, and better yet, I teach people how to sustain the new lifestyles they find through this process! I get people off the diet rollercoaster and truly teach them how to LIVE—how to establish lifelong habits, practice moderation, and find true health within their balance, boundaries, and reality.
I am passionate about what I do! Thanks to a battle with anorexia, I started gaining experience in nutrition at an early age. Through that, I developed an absolute passion for sharing my story and educating others about the truths of food and the body, not what society or diet-culture tells us. Not one body is the same, so how can we treat each person the same and expect the same results?
My passion is to educate and pour my heart into each and every person who calls on me for help. Society screams extremes! My goal as a nutritionist is for anyone I have the privilege of working with to be a healthier, more balanced individual who is where they want to be, inside and out!

This is information that is vital to know before entering a relationship -- and like most everyone, you probably DID NOT get this information.

Do not miss this! Don't worry - -if you miss it live, it will be up on all the podcast apps, YouTube, SoundCloud and LiveStream by the end of the day.

I have always wanted to make a "soundtrack" of my life.
I remember the first song I played on my little portable 45 record player. It was The Kingsman - Louie Louie. I was 5, so I'm guessing it was a record my mom gave me. I used to shake my head round and round and dance to that song.
Fast forward to being 18 years old and in trouble. I was working at a retail clothing store and the Indigo Girls song, Closer to Fine was on repeat. That song - was hope in that time.
I could go on and on....perhaps as you think back on your life, you could find your own soundtrack. What is your first music memory?
Music is therapy.
My guest, Bill Protzmann, is a man on a mission: to raise awareness of the power of music as self-care.
He is a successful IT entrepreneur who holds magna cum laude degrees in piano performance and creative writing, and brings music to audiences in non-traditional ways.
In 2011, he launched Music Care Inc, a for-purpose corporation that teaches practical ways music can be used for self-care. His work was recognized by the National Council for Behavioral Health with an Award of Excellence in 2014 – the behavioral health equivalent of winning an Oscar.
His volunteer work has included Board positions with Guitars for Vets and the San Diego Veterans Coalition. He has been instrumental in connecting thousands of military service members and Veterans with honor tickets to the largest healing music organization in his town: the San Diego Symphony.
You’ll find his first book at Amazon.com: “More Than Human – The Value of Cultivating the Human Spirit in Your Organization.”

My next guest is changing lives on the daily. We are going to talk about your brain and all that is connected with it for a better life.
Hint. If you didn't have a brain. Imagine that life. It's THAT important and controls way more than you think.
Are you stressed out? Do you know what stress does to the brain? This is important!

Flu season is here. There is more than one way to protect yourself from the flu.
We live in a band aid society with our health and it’s evident that something needs to change.
Wellness is something you have control of. You can make choices about your own health.
There are so many things that you can do for complete wellness that you probably haven’t heard of.
My guest is a forward thinking game changer who discovered wellness through failed attempts at many industry standard options.
We are going to talk about so many things that you can do for health, wellness and beauty.
Beauty comes from the soul — and the beautiful Jennifer Dillon is a licensed personal fitness administrator, an integrated nutrition specialist and the Founder of OhZone Clinics. She received her training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. After 5 years of offering nutritional counseling she added Ozone Therapy to her practice, a non-invasive sauna treatment to help client’s detox and build the immune system. She obtained her Ozone Certification in 2017 with Frank Shallenberger M.D, H.M.D. and has been administering this treatment for 2 years.
Her passion for this modality comes from the healing of her now 10-year-old son and herself. Once her son started kindergarten it became apparent that he had a very low immune system and was always bringing home various viruses. With the frequent illnesses came hallucinations and delusions that sent her and her husband searching the internet trying to find answers. For over 2 years, they were sent to various doctors and treatments until eventually they were referred to a specialized neurologist. Wanting a second opinion, they stumbled upon a treatment called Ozone Therapy and began treating their son. To this day he has been free of any neurological issues and has re-built his immune system. Seeing her son’s recovery has inspired her to dedicate her life to helping others dealing with similar situations.
“My passion is to create a place to educate on how simple it can be to heal the body. We are living in a world filled with toxins and if we can be proactive it will save us in the long run.”

“The Divine was expansive, but religion was reductive. Religion attempted to reduce the Divine to a knowable quantity with which mortals might efficiently deal, to pigeonhole it once and for all so that we never had to reevaluate it. With hammers of cant and spikes of dogma, we crucified and crucified again, trying to nail to our stationary altars the migratory light of the world. Thus, since religion bore false witness to the Divine, religion was blasphemy. And once it entered into its unholy alliance with politics, it became the most dangerous and repressive force that the world has ever known.” - Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins
My guest is Cole Suttle - President of the Helping Friendly Book Club http://www.helpingfriendly.com/ and we are talking about The Family on Netflix and how people use religion to scam, brainwash, control and do evil things.
Who gets the ultimate pass in trust? Is anyone above the law? Are there no checks and balances for certain people?
The Catholic Church has hidden pedophiles for YEARS!!!!!! So that children could continue being assaulted!!!! Not to mention every other religion with laundry lists of scandals of abuse.
Here is just ONE example of fleecing in the name of the Lord --> Ephren Taylor, who fleeced some $16 million from members of church flocks in 43 states by preaching so-called "prosperity gospel." (from CNBC)
Why should anyone get a pass of complete trust for uttering key phrases? Especially since fraud is RAMPANT in this area!
Religion becomes a taboo topic -- when you question faith.
However -- if you can't question something -- RED FLAG! If you've got nothing to hide. You've got nothing to hide.
What if there is something even deeper than just scamming your neighbor....
Cole Suttle - posted about "The Family" on Netflix - and WHOA! - We are going to talk about it - and dive into what I touched on above.
Cole was born to high school sweethearts and grew up in Pasedena California.
He attended SMU and majored in religious studies with a double minor in Philosophy and English and is currently working on a Master of Arts in Design and Innovation at SMU.
He began working for the Ritz Carlton in Aspen and returned to Dallas to build the Guest Relations department from scratch for the newly opened Dallas Ritz Carlton. He loved working for The Ritz-Carlton, they have a great philosophy and it felt like a giant laboratory for studying Human Behavior, focusing especially on the art of blowing people’s minds. He was fascinated to better understand what the difference between a 4 and a 5 star hotel was, and this led him to develop something he likes to call the Metaphysics of Hospitality. He was awarded The Ritz-Carlton Gold Standard Award (given annually to only 5 Ladies and Gentlemen worldwide) before switching from operations to Business and Executive Sales to further test out his theories.
Concurrently he’s been working on his passion project, The Helping Friendly Book Club, which started in 2013 “to search for the Secrets to Eternal Joy and Never Ending Splendor” with his friends. More than anything the book club was a way for him to keep exploring the universe, to keep searching for the truth, and to keep following his curiosity with a community people instead of just on his own. Little did he know that almost 7 years and 32 books later the club would still be going strong, and is now grown into The Helping Friendly Foundation, a non profit 501c3 on a mission “to help elevate the public conversation and connect people through books in convivial ways.”
Positioning ourselves at the confluence of the placemaking and the Little Free Library movements, the goal is to elevate the free-public book exchange to the level of an artform in three phases. (See www.helpingfriendly.com/theplan for more). www.allwaysanotherway.com

No one gets instructions when they have a baby. Sure, you get feeding and diapering classes, but what about child development? Isn’t that essential?!?
There are no perfect parents. People only know what they know.
This show isn’t about judging.
Children were once seen and not heard.
Authoritarian parenting still exists. Research PROVES that it’s harmful.
How do you break cycles? Domestic Violence is an EPIDEMIC in this country.
Have you seen the ACEsTooHigh study?
Arundel Hunter and I discuss some of top worst things you can do as a parent and how to change course — even if you’re doing them.
There is only shame in willful ignorance. Time to turn the tide. Children learn what they live.

This is from the inside cover: Americans spend more money on health than people anywhere else in the WORLD. And what do they get for it? STATISTICALLY, not much. Americans today live shorter, less healthy lives than citizens of other rich countries and these trends show no signs of letting up.

What happens when you spend 30 minutes a day actively imaging and writing down what you thought about and then comparing it to your real world experiences? I started a 30 Day, Daydream a New Life Challenge. Wait until you hear some feedback. We are going to talk about it on the podcast today!
And - oh my over caffeinated. I stumble on about 20 words. I was so excited. Hope that doesn't distract because I was reading research too!
"Why Imagination and Curiosity Matter More Than Ever"
From an article about a book from John Seely Brown
John Seely Brown or as he is often called—JSB—is the Independent Co-Chairman of the Deloitte’s Center for the Edge and a visiting scholar and advisor to the Provost at University of Southern California (USC). A master integrator and instigator of productive friction, JSB explores the whitespace between disciplines and builds bridges between disparate organizations and ideas.
From the article: I think we’re way too focused on creativity. It’s misguided. We should be focused on imagination. . . The real key is being able to imagine a new world. Once I imagine something new, then answering how to get from here to there involves steps of creativity. So I can be creative in solving today’s problems, but if I can’t imagine something new, then I’m stuck in the current situation. . .
"JSB’s comments on the importance of imagination reminded me of a book I read a few years ago, Innovation – the Missing Dimension, by MIT professors Richard Lester and Michael Piore."

No one lives your exact life but you.
Could you do this exercise in your mind right now?
If I told you that we would take one minute of time right now, and in this one minute of time, you have a choice.
You can think about whatever you want.
And that would be your minute.
So, if you wanted to spend this one minute right now thinking about the person you love the most...and you think about every little detail about that person, how they make you feel, how you feel around them and that minute goes by and that’s what you’ve thought —-about well that’s your minute!!!
Likewise, if you were to take that same minute and think about someone who you wouldn’t care to even think about again, but you took that whole minute thinking about all the reasons why you would not care to speak to that person again, well that’s your minute.
And if before beginning this exercise, we would both agree that you had a choice in what to think about in that minute.
One way or another your time is being defined in that minute by what you thought about, would that be correct?
So knowing that, if I told you that you could do a little experiment...and then of course, only you would know if it’s working, because you live your life.
I wonder if you would try to take 30 minutes a day and daydream a better life?
✨💫Research shows in so many ways how mental imagery can change the brain.
I’ve created a special series called, Daydream a New Life. I’m looking for 30 people to test it out. . ✨💫✨
💫I’m not here to tell you what’s possible. I’m telling you that only you know what’s possible and that only you can say for sure what works for you.
✨✨✨✨✨✨
Could you imagine the way that your life might multiply if you spent 30 minutes a day daydreaming about your life and what would happen on the fifth day? And then I wonder if you knew that if you focused on more of what you want, you would find that by day 10, something else would happen, but I don’t know....you’d have to do that yourself to find out.
Add curiosity to the mix.
Ask questions.
What if?
How it works: Listen Daily - NOT WHILE DRIVING Jot down on paper or digitally thoughts from the session Jot down 3 positive things you notice during the day (it's okay if you don't have 3, just note any positive changes) After 5 days -- notice progress. Give Feedback. After 10 days notice progress -- give feedback. After 20 days notice progress -- give feedback. After 30 days notice progress -- give feedback. You only know if you try it!
When you think of a widow - I bet an elderly woman comes to mind.
Death is a seldom talked about topic and widows and widowers seem to get lost by the wayside.
At any age, what do you do when you suddenly lose your spouse?
Is it more difficult when you are of an age that people don't expect that to happen?
What are the challenges that no one talks about?
Will things ever be the same?
Where does one go for support?
My guest has been through it all. She became a widow at a young age and is no stranger to death.
Hear her story of moving through grief and coming out on the other side.

You are never stuck. There is ALLWays Another Way — even if you can’t see it.
My guest has a story that will inspire, motivate and empower you! This is one to listen to and share with everyone you know!
About Brook Cheatham - Yogi. Entrepreneur.
Empowered. A word I live by.
All of us have the ability to overcome things in our lives. Defining moments in our "story" give us a choice, the courage to either become our truth, or live in a lie.
Before yoga came into my life, I was a young mother, strapped to a corporate job, with laundry list full of guilt, shame and baggage from a turbulent youth. Fitness goals led me to yoga, and yes, I became physically strong, but slowly I began to notice changes occurring in my actual nature. The baggage from my past started to slowly get stripped away. I began to realize who I was deep down, and deep inside beauty started to unfold where there was once only pain.
My past does not define me, but I know the challenges I have been blessed with in this life are so I can empower others with the knowledge that all we have to do is look inside for the answers.
That is what yoga does for you. It strips away what is not real, replaces it with Love, and gives you back what you truly are at your core, your spirit. And it's never too late to start.
See her at TruFusion Dallas. www.brookcheatham.com www.allwaysanotherway.com

Patricia Daiker is a registered nurse and healthcare IT professional with over 30 years of experience in the industry.
Her medical background did not help her when she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She has discovered the "missing link" to diabetes care and it isn't taught in a doctor's office.
Patricia’s mission is to change how you think about and deal with diabetes by teaching coping skills, change management strategies and and a deep understanding of the impacts diabetes brings to EVERY aspect of your life. Knowing both sides of the diagnosis makes her a coach that truly knows how to navigate a diabetes life.

In January 2018 there were 37,878 veterans experiencing homelessness.
More than 22 veterans die by suicide DAILY!
This is a crisis!
Our government spends an astronomical amount of money on defense. Yet, not even close to that amount for helping those that risk their lives for this country.
It’s a research proven fact that you are likely to end up with mental health issues if you are in the military. It should be mandatory that help is given.
Read “On Killing” by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman. It’s eye opening.
My guest has lived it. SGT David Jordan is the co founder of We Got Your Six
Mr. David Jordan, co-founder of the WGY6 organization and a proud 12-year Veteran with the National Guard. His service began as a PFC (Private First Class), earning his way to ranking as SGT (Sergeant). David served as a communications Soldier and Communications Signal Maintenance Chief for a Signal Brigade while with the 138th Signal Company, and served as a combat medic with a medical company during one combat tour to Iraq. While in the military, he became a certified Army instructor who in turn conducted survival skills training of hundreds of Soldiers to prepare them for their pending combat tours.
David has amassed an excess of 20 years of combined management experience that spans over his military and civilian careers. With more than 25 years of customer service in a variety of industries, David is well versed in communication and presentation to small and large audiences that include peers, leaders and citizens alike.
Mr. Jordan gained business and accounting skills during his time overseeing housekeeping and laundry staff of multi-bed nursing home facility. In this role he was accountable for following and applying strict budgetary guidelines to include every aspect of the business from scheduling through inventory supplies and costing.
Mr. David Jordan brings one more special attribute to the table; he himself like so many veterans, experienced homelessness. He knows firsthand what it feels like to be homeless and the obstacles and challenges our veterans face. He fully appreciates that every veteran’s situation is different, however with his unique experience he is best equipped to reach out to these men and women on a very personal level that most others are not able.
David earned and cherishes 2 Army Commendation Medals for services, 1 Army Achievement Medal, 1 Army Good Conduct Ribbon, and the Iraq Campaign Ribbon.

What if a doctor or someone told you there was nothing else you could do? Would you believe it? Many people do.
Doctors are great - but they are not all knowing.

Marci Serota has an amazing story to tell! Don’t miss it!
Hungry for Solutions ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨Marci Serota studied Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Dietetics. She completed her dietetic internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in 1999. Marci worked as a clinical dietitian in the hospital setting for over 6 years and spent 3 years in private practice where she was fortunate to learn about and practice nutrition intervention for clients with food addiction.
After taking some time off to care for her children, one of whom was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 3, Marci became a Certified Yoga Teacher. She developed an interest in Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, which is an ancient, holistic healing system that addresses the underlying causes of disease: the way that we live and what we put into our bodies.
Through working with an amazingly gifted Ayurveda practitioner, Marci learned about using food as medicine. Marci has integrated this holistic perspective as well as her experience in treating food addiction and diabetes into her nutritional approach to hypothalamic obesity. Marci’s experience as both a registered dietitian nutritionist and as parent to a child with hypothalamic obesity puts her in a unique position to help others who are dealing with this extremely difficult condition.

As you may know, I read and listen to multiple books weekly on Audible.
There are just a handful of books that I’ve read/listened to 5 or more times. Never Split the Difference is such a book.
I picked it up because I like books about negotiation and persuasion… I like to utilize information in these books to create better hypnosis scripts.
What I found was, not only is this an excellent book on negotiation… It is a book on becoming a Zen master with your emotions.
We are going to talk about his book and emotional intelligence on the podcast. Subscribe and tune in!!

You’ve heard about “toxic masculinity” and hopefully you recognize there are many non toxic men out there too.
As someone that grew up being fearful of most men, since I was a small child...and someone who has been abused by men...I have strong emotional feelings around this topic. I know many really good men too. I have a son. How do we ferret out the bad without alienating the good guys?
This is a conversation I’ve been wanting to have with someone for a long time!
My guest, Colin - you can see him in his Aikido photo, has introduced me to the sheepdog theory and the book, On Killing — which, wow!
We are going to talk about all the above — and hash out what’s helpful for everyone going forward.
There’s Always Another Way to see things. Being open to the voices of others and understanding where each is coming from....that’s right.
Colin Colwell holds a BA from The Ohio State University, English Lit & Creative writing He has spent 16 years in the Army Reserves with 5 yrs active duty. He was an intelligence analyst, PSYOP Specialist and Instructor. He’s been in Martial Arts since 2004 Aikido sandal and head instructor. He also worked in the corporate world for over 20 years as a pricipal tech writer, team lead and process involvement specialist. While this is what he’s done - it’s doesn’t explain who he is — a guy that cooks his wife dinner, challenges himself to do new and interesting things to grow, center and ground hiself. A voracious reader with 8-10 books on his nightstand and in his own words — I’m a real skeptic, I like to consider all angles and possibilities and then make up my own mind about things. Skeptic as a term has been hijacked by the gatekeepers of where we are today. IOW, people planting their flags on the status quo and little, from what I can tell, desire to learn more and expand our collective baseline. www.allwaysanotherway.com

The truth behind the glamorous entrepreneur title. She’s unstoppable. She’s inspiring.
A need for financial stability initially brought Ana to Dallas, TX. She moved from Mexico City to this incredible metroplex of bountiful opportunities 6 years ago. Within two years of living in Dallas, she decided to quit her job and create a small business. I AM THE JUICE PLACE opened its doors on June 2016 in downtown Dallas.
Her need for connection and hunger to bring healthy options to downtown came true. The base of the storefront is and always has been-- love. With hopes of promoting self-love and worth to all genders, Ana sold her business at the beginning of 2019 in order to move on to bigger projects; among them, Off2Work.
O2W was created in October 2018. This non-profit fulfills Ana's and her partner, Adri's need to create awareness around women empowerment, parity and need for diversity in the workplace.
The belief that women are worth less or are not needed in the workplace is a fallacy. With her background as a health and life coach she is excited to bring her skills and experience to the table to remind women that they have to have a personal project or purpose in order to live a prosperous and fulfilling life.
Ana is an experienced entrepreneur with a demonstrated history of working in the health, wellness and fitness industry. Skilled in Yoga, Public Speaking, Professional Services, Interpersonal Skills, Mentorship and Counseling.
She is passionate and proactive in building strong relationships.
Even though most of her work is in the realm of Human development, Ana obtained a bachelors degree focused in Dietetics from University of the Incarnate Word. Find Ana on Instagram here -- @anacjones

Love is complex. If the fairy tales were true there wouldn’t be a greater than 50% divorce rate. Sooooo many factors to great relationships. We know now, more than ever about attachment theory as it relates to successful relationships.
All that being said — 50% are still ending in divorce at this time. High conflict divorce is the cause of so many detrimental things to adults and children.
There is....another way!!

✨💫ALLWays Another Way Podcast✨💫 💫💫Ep: 53 More Joy Less Pain with James McCoy✨💫 ✨💫Nov 29 at 1pm CST✨💫
James Michael McCoy is an adventurer, filmmaker, gardener, and naturalist. A 4th generation Texan who grew up exploring the rolling hills of western Jack County in North Central Texas, a place where the Comanches used to roam. He was raised on a farm, and learned to garden and take care of livestock. Without his parents knowing, McCoy watched APOCALYPSE NOW at the age of seven and fell in love with cinema.
In 2015 McCoy met journalist and writer Peter Gorman. Within a year he began filming MORE JOY LESS PAIN, a documentary that chronicles Peter’s family life in Texas and his travels to Peru for the past 35 years.
James spent three years filming MORE JOY LESS PAIN. He took three trips to the Amazon with Peter and spent a lot of time at his home in Joshua, Texas, filming most of it solo. He witnessed and experienced a lot during this time. Some wild stuff such as anaconda bites, hunting sapo frogs, catching wild sloths, calling river dolphins, getting my haircut with piranha teeth and ceremonies, lots of ceremonies.
This is McCoy’s first feature film and he is already in development on his next documentary on High Times magazine. He currently lives in Arlington, Texas.

💫Dust off your passport. You’ll be taking off on an adventure after reading this!✨ You've got to listen to this amazing interview with the author, scientist, explorer Kate Harris.
She is a total badass, inspiration and humanitarian.
She has written one of the better books I have ever read! And the best that I have read in quite some time. Her memoir reads like page turning fiction because it's so exciting and the things she does -- you can see it as she describes them. This book makes you want to get out and explore.
She addresses real life topics and brings wonderful existential questions to mind.
Here are some of the questions I ask Kate:
Where do you think your sense of I can DO THIS — and I don’t have to be in this box comes from?
There is this point in the book where you and Mel are diving under an actual border with your bikes and then hiding, crashing, evading — excitement — I know I can’t generalize people - but a lot of people seem to live in a really safe place where doing something like that — seems CRAZY — yet you did it and in reading it— it sounds amazing and yet, a bit scary — What do you think it is that allows you to just do things — and not live in that fear based state? Or do you live there and overcome it? Is there any of that?
There are a million different places in the book that I’ve highlighted — there is one part where you refer to this quote by the Chinese Sage Hsu Yu, “Names are only the guests of of reality” borders are little more than collective myths - fictions that a certain number of people, for a certain period of time, believe are fact.” Can we talk about this?
Second favorite quote from you, “But I worried that something crucial gets lost in such transactions, namely a recognition that the world has value and meaning beyond its usefulness to us” — WHOA! YES YES YES — let’s talk about this and what it means to you and how others can begin to put this into practice in their daily lives.
3rd favorite quote from book — "We’re only here by fluke, and only for a little while, so why not run with life as far and wide as you can?” I look around at so many people on autopilot — myself included for a long time, thinking that you have to follow this line - and whoa, can’t do that because it’s not safe, stable, reasonable — whatever the limit is — but — you have just proven - there are no limits! What advice to have to anyone that reads your book about how to break limits be the self imposed or not? What do you think about limits?

There is Another Way to age well. Reinvent yourself. DO something ANOTHER WAY.
My guest Debbie Weil is going to talk all about What IS a Gap year for people over 60, her blog and her podcast!
After 31 years in Washington DC, and after their three children were grown, Debbie persuaded her physician husband, Sam Harrington, to retire and reinvent how they live by moving to a small town on the coast of Maine.
This major life change became the basis for a blog they write together, Gap Year After Sixty. http://gapyearaftersixty.com
And for a podcast that she is developing called "A Gap Year For Grown-Ups." [https://soundcloud.com/debbie-…/001-a-gap-year-for-grown-ups]
FORGIVENESS
For me, that was a very loaded word for a long time. There were people that hurt me. Intentionally. I was never getting an apology.
I thought I let those things go. Is it forgiven if it isn’t forgotten?
Forgiving meant allowing. I couldn’t see it Another Way?
If you have trouble with the word “Forgive” and the action....this podcast is for you.
If you think you’ve forgiven, but you still talk about it with passion or victimization. This podcast is for you.

💫✨Always Another Way Podcast 💫 ✨💫Ep: 35 The Zendo Project✨💫 ✨💫Aug 9th✨💫 1pmCST
Psychedelic Harm Reduction
This year, millions of people will use psychedelics outside of supervised medical contexts, many of them for the first time. Taking psychedelics can result in overwhelming and uncomfortable experiences, more likely with high doses, amongst first-time users, and without adequate preparation or setting.
Psychedelic harm reduction includes a variety of methods to help prevent and transform difficult experiences while in a non-ordinary state of consciousness.
The Zendo Project: - Reduces the number of psychiatric hospitalizations and arrests.
Creates an environment where volunteers can work alongside one another to improve their harm reduction skills and receive training and feedback.
Demonstrates that safe, productive psychedelic experiences are possible without the need for law enforcement-based prohibitionist policies.
My guest is Sara Gael, M.A. Zendo Project
Sara received her Master’s degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology at Naropa University. She began working with MAPS in 2012, coordinating psychedelic harm reduction services at festivals and events worldwide with the Zendo Project. Sara was an Intern Therapist for the recently completed MAPS Phase 2 clinical trial of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD in Boulder, CO.
She maintains a private practice as a psychotherapist specializing in trauma and non-ordinary states of consciousness. Sara believes that developing a comprehensive understanding of psychedelic medicines through research and education is essential for the health and well being of individuals, communities, and the planet.

Jenny says, “When I learned, at age 20, that the pain I was experiencing was Rheumatoid Arthritis, I set out on a journey to wellness.
I wasn't willing to risk the side effects of medications, so I learned to manage my health through nutrition.
Though I was able to manage the disease enough to stay mobile, I had lost most of the strength and range of motion I once had.
Now that I have yoga, I am experiencing amazing healing and renewed strength! I'm honored to be able to share this ancient practice with anyone who is looking for a better way to care for their body inside and out.” ~Jenny Hunter
Jenny is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher in Dallas, TX. Her dedication to yoga and this method has been key in her remarkable recovery from the crippling effects of rheumatoid arthritis. It’s Jenny’s experience of renewed body, mind and spirit that compels her to share.
✨💫Blackouts. Alcohol. The trick. The waste.
Another great article from MEDIUM -- titled, My Mother The Drunk by Laura June caught my eye. Wow. Very honest.
Then I got over to another article called ASK A FORMER DRUNK - When do you know you have a problem by Sarah Hepola (who I tried to get ahold of very last minute but I'm sure she is busy) She has a book called BLACKOUT — and WHOA!!!!!!!! GO GET THIS BOOK! HOLY CRAP -- she is sounding the bells.
I'm not personally against all alcohol. It's just nice to know that there is ANOTHER WAY -- and there is a TRICK out there and being drunk is not a requirement for anything good in life. Listen and let me know what you think.
I appreciate all of you! Thank you so much for listening, it means a lot to me. I'm grateful. xo Marina

There is lots of great research on the use of Psilocybin for PTSD and depression. We saw many presentations at the conference.
The FDA has opened the doors to study it. There are studies already completed — with great results too! ✨💫

Suicide and Emotional Blackmail with Roxanne Roberts of the Washington Post
Talking about suicide, emotional blackmail and this article https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/suicide-is-desperate-it-is-hostile-it-is-tragic-but-mostly-it-is-a-bloody-mess/2018/06/08/ecf66aee-6b54-11e8-bea7-c8eb28bc52b1_story.html?utm_term=.9ea70dd308d1
There is ANOTHER WAY, there is help.
Revisioning uses the mirror neuron network and can change suicidal thinking patterns. Podcast Ep: 9 is on this technique with Dr. Mark Rider and his peer reviewed research.
22 Vets a day 123 suicides a day 45,000 a year
Let's always continue the conversation on suicide, I wanted to bring another perspective into this conversation, the one of emotional blackmail.
Suicide is a tragedy. We understand that people are not their true selves when this thinking pattern takes over.
Every suicide threat should be taken seriously.
Not many people talk about the other side of this suicide coin....the one of emotional blackmail.
Where someone says, If you don't do this -- I'll kill myself.
If you are having thoughts of suicide please know these are faulty messages from the brain and Call 1-800-273-8255 Here is the number of the National Sexual Assault hotline. A caring person is on the line waiting for you. --> Call 1-800-656-4673
✨💫Always Another Way Podcast✨💫 💫✨Ep: 27 - Modern Day Philosophy with Rachel Anne Williams✨
Is philosophy just for people in academia? Are philosophers just academics?
Or is there ANOTHER WAY to look at Philosophy?
I received an email from Medium (online publishing platform) and this title --> Why I Left Academic Philosophy --> grabbed my attention. Especially this part --> "I will never forget sitting in our auditorium listening to a long talk about meta-ethics when, right outside the doors of the university, Black Lives Matter activists were marching (this was in St. Louis at the time of Ferguson).
I could hear them chanting; the stark contrast between the esoteric subtleties of meta-ethics vs. the concrete realities of what would be considered “applied ethics” — a term usually uttered with slight contempt — made me deeply uncomfortable.
How could I justify this exuberance of abstraction when there were so many real-world problems that needed the minds of intelligent people.
✨💫So — why don’t we talk about this more. ✨💫 Or maybe the fact that if you had known that Rachel is transgender— you might have never read the article or give her the credit for her academics.
Why do we treat humans as if they are less than for any reason?!?!?
This blows my mind.
Certainly no higher power that claims itself to be love could even hate someone for existing!!!!
I know these are uncomfortable and not fun to talk about. Your life as you exist, is not threatened. However, millions of people live differently. Their existence is threatened because of skin color, gender identity, religion, economic status...and more!
Rachel Anne Williams is an author, writer, and ex-academic philosopher. She has a Master's degree in philosophy from LSU and spent six years in Washington University in St Louis' Philosophy-neuroscience-psychology program before ultimately dropping out. She started her gender transition at 28 years old and is now 31. She grew up in Orlando, Florida and currently lives in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Hear Dr. Sam Harrington as we discuss his book, At Peace: Choosing a Good Death After a Long Life.
Does dying in the hospital hooked up to tubes scare you? What about your parents? How do you have the conversation? When do you decide that a caring choice is the decision to avoid repeated hospitalizations and over testing?
You have choices you might not think you have.
There are some things that will directly lead you down the path of hospitalization and then death.
My guest, Dr. Samuel Harrington is an honors graduate of Harvard College and the University of Wisconsin Medical School.
He practiced internal medicine and gastroenterology for more than 30 years in Washington, D.C.
There he served on the board of trustees of Sibley Memorial Hospital, a member of the Johns Hopkins Health System, and the former Hospice Care of DC.
As the American health care system evolved around him, becoming increasingly complex and increasingly commercialized, Sam became interested in end-of-life issues.
We are going to talk about all these things and his book, At Peace, Choosing a Good Death After a Long Life.
With Dr. Richard Idell!
Globally, more than 300 million people suffer from depression, and 260 million suffer from anxiety disorders—many of whom live with both conditions. A study by the World Health Organization found that such disorders cost the global economy $1 trillion in lost productivity each year.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US and almost 45,000 people in the US die by suicide. EVERY YEAR!!!
The FDA began placing suicidal ideation risk warnings on certain antidepressant medications in the fall of 2004.
In a recent story, The New York Times discusses why many people taking antidepressants discover they cannot quit.
Last month, I interviewed Johann Hari about his New York Times best-selling book, Lost Connections - Uncovering the Real Causes of Depression.
You might remember from that interview how antidepressants… haven’t been studied long-term. The “cure” doesn’t come in a bottle. I could go on, but that should tell you something right there.
My guest, Dr. Richard Idell is Psychiatrist and an assistant professor in the Department of Behavioral Health at UT Health Northeast.
He’s been published in numerous scholarly publications and if you look him up — you’ll be more than impressed. Oh yeah...he’s a musician too!!
We’re going to talk about one of his most recent papers about the treatment of depression with psychedelics.
If psychedelics scare you... you’ll want to listen, because we’re going to bring the facts.
I’ll share my personal experience and the doctor will talk about the research.
From the CDC 21,028 people died from alcoholic liver disease in 2015. 33,000, 171 died from alcohol induced deaths in 2015.
Opioids!! More than 65,000 died in 2017.
Why do we seek “pain” killers? And you know how easy alcohol is to get.
How many died from taking Psilocybin? I can’t even find that number.
Do you know how addictive sugar is? Keep this in the back of your brain when we do this podcast -- this is from an article in National Geographic - link in comments.
"Nicole Avena, a neuroscientist at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, has shown that rats will keep gobbling sugar if you let them, and they develop tolerance, craving, and withdrawal, just as they do when they get hooked on cocaine.

Very few of us grew up with perfect parents. None of us got to pick our parents. These are things we cannot change.
The future - is yet unwritten.
There are many studies that suggest we have subconscious blocks from events that happened to us that might keep us from accessing our full potential.
This guided hypnotic meditation gives you an opportunity to start from the beginning and re parent yourself -- they way you want to.
After you listen, just notice the changes in days and weeks to come that will signify that you have changed.
It seems the topic of high conflict or high maintenance individuals will never go away.
Over the years, I’ve handled different situations in different ways.
For a long time, I felt that an invitation to argue, was directed at me and I happily joined the party.
I had to defend myself. I had my reputation to defend.
Or did I?
Do you feel that way when someone offends you?

Do you know the psychological repercussions of keeping secrets in families?

Is there always an elephant in the room?
How short is life? How precious is life? Is this what you want to be doing right now if you were to die today?
Depression and anxiety are now the most common mental illnesses in the US, affecting 18 percent of the population. Almost one in six Americans is now taking a drug for these or related disorders.
A deeply researched new book asks: what if we have been radically misunderstanding these problems for more than a generation—and missing the real solutions?
New York Times bestselling author Johann Hari radicalized the addiction debate with his acclaimed book Chasing the Scream and accompanying TED talk—which, along with the animation based on it, has been viewed more than 21 million times. He has now carried out a bold three-year investigation about what really causes depression and anxiety, and how to actually solve these disorders.
Hari suffered from depression since he was a child, and he was told by doctors that his problems were caused by a chemical imbalance in his brain.
He started taking antidepressants at 18—but he remained depressed, no matter the dose. He thought he was unusual—but when he embarked on his research into the mystery of depression, he discovered that the real figures, away from Big Pharma propaganda, show that 65 to 80 percent of people taking an anti-depressant are still depressed.
Using his training as a social scientist at Cambridge University, Hari began to investigate the causes of depression and anxiety, traveling over 40,000 miles and conducting hundreds of interviews. He discovered something startling: the story we have been told about these problems is not true.
Cutting-edge science shows these problems are not caused by a spontaneous chemical imbalance in our brains. In fact, they are largely caused by seven key factors in the way we are living today. Once we understand this different way of thinking, a whole different set of solutions then open up.
Lost Connections presents Hari’s findings and prescripts paths out of depression and anxiety, giving rise to a radically new way of thinking about an epidemic sweeping across the United States.
This book—already lauded by people as varied as Elton John and Naomi Klein—is based on three years of detailed research and reporting. The reporting ranges from the world’s leading social scientists, to an Amish village, to an uprising in Berlin, to a series of remarkable experiments in Baltimore. It is an epic journey that will change how we think about one of the biggest crises in our culture today.
Johann Hari is the New York Times bestselling author of Chasing the Scream, which is being adapted into a feature film. He was twice named Newspaper Journalist of the Year by Amnesty International UK. He has written for the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and others, and he is a regular panelist on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.” His TED talk, "Everything you THINK you know about Addiction is Wrong" has more than 22 million views. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Today I'm going to talk about why sexual violence is the only crime that makes the victims feel shamed and bad.
If today, you were robbed, got into a car accident with a drunk driver, kidnapped, physically assaulted or financially scammed -- you would tell everyone you know, run to the police and possibly post about it on social media.
You would be angry at the perpetrator.
However, you yourself wouldn't feel bad that someone robbed you. You wouldn't blame yourself if a drunk driver hit you. No one would ask you what you were doing driving at 2 AM if a drunk driver hit you.
I can openly talk about being robbed and I wouldn't make anyone feel uncomfortable and it wouldn't be a conversation stopper.
But let me tell you about the babysitter that molested me when I was four or tell you about another incident… And you immediately clam up and don't want to talk to me. I've made you feel very uncomfortable.
This is completely ridiculous!!!!!!
256 women have come forward against Larry Nassar. Do you think it's a coincidence of the timing that Joe Paterno passed away after Larry Sandusky? How hard has the Catholic Church tried to pedophiles.
The statistics are off. The majority of women and men do not report crimes of sexual violence.
Janelle Monáe gave a very powerful speech at the Grammys and her message is Time's Up.
Time is Up!!!
What's with the gun and the silencer?
I'm going to talk about it today.

In 1995, Jackie Morgan MacDougall packed everything she owned into her Mitsubishi Eclipse and hit the road for Los Angeles with just $700 to her name.
Fast forward, she has worked for over two decades in TV and digital marketing, creating content for women with some of the most recognizable and innovative names in entertainment like Queen Latifah, Harry Connick Jr., Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen and Sharon Osbourne.
While her passion for all things entertainment brought her to LA, it’s what she has experienced personally and professionally that brought her to her true purpose.
Now instead of just creating content for others to market to women, She taps into her own personal insight and voice to connect with women -- online and in person -- helping them find their own distinct voices and use that voice in a way that’s authentic and effective.
