Oh, and if you JUST GOTTA HAVE WREN every week, head on over to my podcast ABOUT podcasting Don't Wing It!
In college, Brian Dixon started out heading down the “music-and-theatre” road, until a life-changing car accident redirected him. After being told he may never have kids (he now has 3) and not walking again (he’s completed numerous marathons and a number of triathlons), he views his life as a picture of God’s redemption and grace. Dr. Dixon ended up training to be a teacher, where he met Julie, now his wife of 20 years. They are raising their children in Charlotte, NC to be entrepreneurial, kingdom-minded humans.
Living life as a believer means we need to have God’s Word in our hearts. But how does one DO that in these busy times? As Brian points out, we need to get into the Word every single day. It most likely means that we will have to sacrifice something; and, like Jesus, we may have to get up early and “get away.” Brian starts every day reading, praying, listening to the Abide app…doing whatever it takes to get God’s Word into his heart.
Listen in for encouragement to keep on keepin on, friend!

Busy raising three children, working hard to open her own brinks-and-mortar business in her hometown, managing her third marriage, totally burning the candle at both ends…
Complete chaos! Can you relate to any of this?
My guest today, Carmen James, was so busy working hard at trying to achieve success according to the world’s definition, that she forgot a crucial piece enabling her to enjoy the fruits of her labor: self-care and stress management.
Now can you relate?
But a dramatic and unexpected cancer diagnosis was followed by a three-month-long wait to see a specialist, a time which Carmen described as “the scariest, darkest, most horrific experience ever,” proved life-changing in ways she never expected.

In 2007, Melinda Patrick found herself going through a divorce that she didn’t want. Thinking she had done #allthethings a good, Christian wife was “supposed” to do, she realized that this was an example of mankind’s free will being exercised. The day after her family (they had a 13 yr-old and 16-yr-old) moved into the home she and her husband had designed and built themselves, he walked out.
Reeling, she remembers thinking “I don’t understand.”
Melinda’s story is both heartbreaking and mesmerizing; alternately filled with pain and promise. Throughout the process of her divorce, one piece of Scripture was especially life-giving:
"The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life." Job 33:4

Charlotte Easley is a life coach with a background in clinical counseling work, specializing in trauma. She works with women to help them understand that their worth doesn’t come from what they do, but rather, who they are. When she was 56 years old, her youngest child went off to military school, but she knew that God wasn’t done with her yet! So she embarked on a “second journey” and began on a Master’s of Social Work program - in a classroom full of 20-somethings.

We’re not “real life” friends yet, but Sharon Tedford and I have been connected, via Instagram, for a while now. Artist, painter, worship leader, singer, mom, and now also a podcast host…this is gonna be a wide-ranging episode!
Sharon was born in the south, too - southern England (Weymouth, in Dorsett), although she’s lived in Texas for the last 12 years. Her bucolic childhood included summers of selling souvenirs to “grockles” (tourists) and talking to people about Jesus at seaside church services. And then, in the dark winters, spending time enjoying family and going cycling in the dark.

Since she was last on the show, in episode 69, much has changed, both in her life and the world around us. When Kate Elmore turned 27, she had a baby.
Five months after giving birth, she discovered she had thyroid cancer. And went through surgery. And radiation. And isolation. And more.
Her faith is what carried her through. It was the light in a bad day, the peace that God gave her, the strength she didn’t know she had…
And what brought her to the other side of her pain.
Kate sat down with me recently and told me about her journey.

Before she got married, Katie Jones became immersed in the FIRE movement (Financial Independence Retire Early). An early goal of hers was to retire by the age of 40. But over time, she began to question the concept of passive income and her approach to both money and work. She began to ask “What does my faith have to do with that and what does God say about it?”
“Financial independence in and of itself isn’t wrong. It becomes wrong when it crosses the line so that I’m relying only on myself, and not on God.” Katie Jones

“Growing Slow” is not only the name of author Jennifer Dukes Lee's latest book but the topic of today’s conversation.
Living on a farm in rural Iowa, Jennifer and her husband loved the idea of leaving their fast-paced jobs to raise a family and run a farm. Far from the hustle and bustle they both had become accustomed to, she had no idea that stress, or “hurry sickness”, would ever again apply to her.
Until during a routine visit to her doctor, who told her that she truly needed to make some changes.

Do you struggle with seeking the Lord in prayer? Do you ever get to a point where you think “I’m not going to do this well, so why even try?”
If so, you’re not the only one!
The perfectionist in us sometimes keeps us from going to God in prayer, and then we tend to feel guilty about that. Listen, getting lost in silly or inconsequential activities will happen (think: scrolling through Instagram or getting lost in Pinterest) - because we’re human.
But we don’t have to allow shame about doing those things to stop us from going back to God.
We don’t have to feel defeated before we even start. Val and I had a great conversation about her getting off Instagram last February. And if you’re struggling with getting sucked into any platform and being obedient to what God’s calling you to do personally, there’s lots of “gold” in this episode.

Her unique musical style and inspirational lyrics have taken her to many diverse venues, including the White House, the Sundance Film Festival, Lilith Fair, and the National Day of Prayer in Washington, DC. She has served as an adjunct professor at her Alma Mater, Belmont University in Nashville, TN, as a worship leader, and has partnered with non-profits. In a recent conversation with Christy Wright, author, personal growth expert, and founder of “Business Boutique” she shared encouragement to help you build your confidence, grow your faith, and become the person God wants you to be.
We walk around with this heavy belief, the lie that we’re not doing a good job...at work, at home. That we’re not doing the things God created us to do. Not being the woman God created us to be.
The only way to combat those beliefs is with the truth! We need to get out of our own way…

Stephanie is a pastor’s wife, mom to two college girls and a son in kindergarten. She is the Director of North star Academy, an online accredited private Christian school for 4th-12th graders.
Today, Stephanie shares with us how she walked through a severe depression a few years ago and how God is faithful in our times of struggle.
She says, “God prepares the way. He knows exactly what’s going to happen, what’s in your heart and mind, and what you are going to need in the moment.”
What is unique about this episode is that Stephanie has not shared this part of her story on a podcast before. There is a lot of stigma and shame surrounding depression in the Christian community and especially as a Pastor’s wife. I’m grateful to Stephanie for being vulnerable in sharing in order to provide encouragement to us.
This is part one with Stephanie and part two will be on her podcast called The Northstar Narrative where I had the opportunity to share how faithful God is in all of our stories.

Hi friend! Last week it was great hearing Sarah Tucker share her story with us when she walked through getting a disease called Endocarditis which caused her to have open heart surgery 10 years ago. She shares about God’s Faithfulness as her friends and family rallied around her during a really difficult time in her life. You can go one episode back to hear it on episode 117.
Today’s episode is with my friend, Stacy Myers from the Humorous Homemaking blog. I’ve followed Stacy for years on Instagram and we had we had the best time chatting! We talk about failures and what to do with them, Stacy encourages us how to stop walking in fear of missing God’s will, and I love how packed full this episode is with resources and the truth we can point our heart toward God’s word. Stacy shares about her recent journey of walking in food freedom. I love how open Stacy is and so let’s get to it! Here is my conversation with Stacy!

Hi friend! I enjoyed having Katie from Dear Mushka on the podcast last week to hear her story of losing her mother, praying and waiting in her adoptiions, and sharing about discipling her children. You can go one episode back to hear that episode. It was 116.
Today’s episode is with my friend, Sarah Tucker. After an infection going to her heart, Sarah had open heart surgery at the age of 23. We talk about how God was faithful to her through other people ministering to her, what her mom prayed for Sarah during that difficult time, and why Sarah is grateful for the hard things she has walked through.
Sarah also gives encouragement to us as she shares how we are all influencers regardless if its 10 followers on social media or loving our families well.
Hi friend! I enjoyed having Polly and Rachel on the podcast last week to hear their stories of how they met and how Thriving Home began. We talk about their views of food and how that has changed. You can also find their yummy recipes that they mention. That is one episode back, number 115 if you want to check it out!

Today’s episode is with my friend, Katie Lewis. You may know Katie from her online company, Dear Mushka. Katie shares with us her story of walking through grief when she lost her mother a few years ago. She hasn’t ever really talked about it publicly until now. We also talk about how Katie disciples her children and how it’s messy, not perfect, but that we as moms are in this together!
We chat about when Katie and her husband, Robert followed God’s calling for them to adopt. They have three precious boys and it’s neat to see that they began their company to fund their first adoption. We chat about how God led Katie and Robert to be on the same page but it did take some time. There is a part of the conversation when I literally GASP when Katie shared with me an AMAZING story of them naming their first son. Be listening for that..not that you could miss it. ha
Katie also gives encouragement to other mom small business owners and it was so good. If you are ready to be encouraged, let’s jump in!
Happy Monday, friend! If this is your first time being here or if you've joined me for all 7 Monday Boost episodes, welcome!
On Fridays, I invite a friend to come on the episode to share her God story with us and on Mondays I share a practical word from God that He's been teaching me that week! Come for a whole lotta Jesus and a whole lotta encouragement!
Today, I was reading in my One Year Bible and there were a some specific character Qualities that I saw in scripture in Joseph’s story that I desire to have in my own life.
And, I thought these may encourage you in your walk as well! I love Joseph’s story in the Bible and everytime I hear a sermon or read it, I hear something new! There are three character qualities that I saw in the exerpt of Joseph’s story today and that’s what I’m going to share!

Today’s episode is with my guests Polly Conner & Rachel Tiemeyer. They are the gals from the Thriving Home blog! If you have seen my Instagram Stories lately you have seen what I’ve been making for dinner and it’s been some recipes from their blog! Let’ me just say I tried three of their recipes and they are now in my monthly rotation that’s for sure!
On today’s episode you will hear a part of Polly and Rachel’s story. Their journeys of creating and sharing recipes began with two very different stories of their view about food. Rachel’s oldest child was 18 months old when they had to adjust their family eating habits because they found out he had Crohn’s disease and wanted healthy options for him. Polly walked through a weight loss journey that led her to whole food eating.
They have perfected fixing food for their families using whole food ingredients and no or fewer processed ones while being versatile for busy women! And all the mommas said AMEN!

Happy Monday, friend! If this is your first time being here or if you’ve joined me for all 7 Monday Boost episodes, WELCOME!
On Fridays I invite a friend to come on the episode to share her God story with all of us and on Mondays I just started this mini podcast called Monday Boost where I share a practical word from God that He’s been teaching me that week. Come for a whole lotta Jesus and a whole lotta encouragement!
Today I’m really excited about sharing with you. I have been reading out of my One Year Bible about Abraham.
And, you know, the BEST way to really seal truth into our hearts is when we speak it out loud. I know truths that I learn from God’s word go so much deeper when I share them with a friend. Sharing could look like speaking it in a small discipleship group that you are in, or maybe teaching younger women in a Life Group, or it could totally be in a conversation with a friend! I think its SO NEAT when God leads a conversation to a situation that I have been learning about in the Bible.
So, I’m going to share something that God gave me through His word. And, I was able to share it with a friend. We talked about how it could totally relate to a situation I was walking through that particular day AND how it related to a TOTALLY DIFFERENT situation SHE has been walking through.
I’m going to share that today…a literal message I had left for a friend on Voxer.

Today’s episode is with my guest, Erika Opperman. Erika and I have a mutual friend and I love how Jenny connected us! Erika and her husband Brian were part of a church plant two years ago along in Kansas City with her two sons, Axel and Max, don’t you just love their names?!
On today’s episode you will hear Erika’s story. As a young pre-teen girl, Erika’s teacher at school voiced concern to her parents as she was showing signs of anxiety. And, Erika saw herself sitting across from a Christian counselor at just eleven years old. A quote that I asked her about on the episode was when she said, “Jesus saved my life, but His word saved my mind.” We talk about what made the difference as an eleven year old. A few years later, Erika felt God calling her to full time Christian ministry when she was 16 and she shares lessons she’s learned along the way.
On this episode, we also talk about the different seasons God has called us to, what Biblical perseverance looks like, scripture memory, and what God is teaching her in a recent time of grief her family has walked through losing her father in law. It will be uplifting to you especially if you are walking that road right now.
Erika and I jumped on Facebook last month when we recorded our conversation for today’s podcast and recorded the first half on video. It was SO MUCH FUN! I will link the video in our show notes for ya!

On today’s episode you will hear Victoria’s story. You will hear my conversation with Victoria Strader, who was born in Paris, is a wife, mom to two, and a blogger. She’s been in the States ever since she learned to walk, and is Southern as Sweet Tea. She is now a Texan and loves all things Southern. At the beginning of our interview, I wasn’t sure how long Victoria had been living in the states and thought there may have been a slight chance, she still spoke with a British accent. HA.
Nevertheless, Victoria and I instantly connected in our conversation. I haven’t walked the road she is on, but when you know Jesus, He connects us all, doesn’t he? We talk about how Victoria’s son, Beau was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder.
What I think is so precious about Victoria is that she is navigating a hard road as a momma, but continues to have a heaven perspective on it reflecting on God’s kindness. She mentions that she keeps going back to the verse in Romans that we can know that God causes ALL things to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
In this episode we talk about: Wonderful Wednesday, being a Special Needs Family, we camp out on the type of friend Victoria wants to be, how her friends met some tangible needs and stepped into uncomfortable places for her family in a small, yet huge way. We also talk about how Victoria needs your help in finding a recipe…listen to the end for that!
And, a lil reminder….

Today's episode is with my friend, Vera Schmitz. Vera has an incredible story of how she competed in the Olympic trials, but how she walked through the disappointment of not making the Track and Field Olympic team in 2016. Vera started writing scriptures on her arm while training to run track and field in college. And, it is so neat to see how God led Vera and her sister, Natalie to share this way to memorize scripture in their company, Dwell Differently.

Today's episode is with my 'in real life' friend, Leslie Hollowell. You may remember Leslie from Episode 6, right after I had just started the podcast! On that episode, she shared part of her story of journeying through embryo adoption.
Leslie has a unique story in that before she was married, God called her out as a school teacher into full time ministry with teen girls. She has a heart for discipleship, mentoring, teaching, and encouraging young women to follow after God with all their hearts.
Today we will be chatting about what mentoring looks like when you have young children and that it doesn't have to be overwhelming.
I am thrilled to be able to share the conversation that Leslie and I were able to have one morning sitting at my kitchen table. I literally had NO NOTES and let the Lord lead our words. After listening, you will feel refreshed, encouraged, and ready to GO and walk in what God has called you to do! That is our prayer.

Today's episode is Katie Alexander. She spent the last 13 years building a prominent career in strategic planning and business development, but the most important job has been a loving wife and mother to two beautiful girls, Ella and Meadow.
Her mission in life is to bring balance to home and the work place, all while living for Jesus. She has spent many years leading women's Bible studies and helping lead others on their journey to the freedom that can be found in Christ. She translated this passion into a heart felt book based on finding a way to set your soul free from the bondage of guilt over being a working mom.

Today's episode is with my friend, Rainer Lowman. Rainer and I went to high school together, but we haven't seen each other in years. We recently reconnected on social media and it's been the sweetest thing.
Rainer loves Jesus, is a pilot’s wife, a mom of 5, a champion of adoption, an advocate for special needs parenting, a non profit ministry founder, an expert at charcuterie and loves feeding her family!
Be refreshed as Rainer shares her story of grace, prayer, following God's leading in the hard, and the joy that comes from it.
Hear the surprising way she knew she was called to adopt when she was a middle schooler and a lunch, years later that changed the trajectory of what her family would look like. I love Rainer and you will too!

It’s episode 78 and my guest is Valerie Woerner. I remember ‘meeting’ Val through a Direct Message on Instagram a few years ago. Val has a heart for women to know God’s truth, and she is so relatable and real in her faith. Today on the podcast, Val and I talk about her new book that is coming out April 9, which is next week! I am reading it and let me just tell you, I have underlined so much of it; I‘m like Val, you are writing about me! I have followed along with her since first meeting on instagram and have since been able to interview her along with her twin sister about their God stories. If you missed hearing the episode they were on, check out their episodes, 46 and 47.

Jessica has written books about exploring and infusing your relationships with grace and the love of Jesus. She has also coauthored books with her mother Elyse Fitzpatrick including the book I recently read, Give Them Grace. Jessica and I chat about a conversation she overheard from her son and his friends that focused her attention to write the book, tips for how to integrate gospel conversations with your kids, and an acrostic that can help you in beginning these conversations. Jessica was so fun to interview, is an excellent speaker, and I know this will be a very helpful episode for all of us.

This episode, ya'll. My friend, Holly sent me a message me one day and said, "Wren. You have got to hear Jess’s story." After Jess had spoken at a Veterans Day event, Holly immediately went up to encourage her. Holly connected Jess and myself and I’m so grateful for Holly knowing what an impact Jess will make, and that she has been an encouragement for Jess to share. Jess has only spoken in public a few other times and I’m so grateful she entrusted me in sharing her story with you today.
Jess takes me back to her life of searching for her identity as a young preteen girl, and how she kept coming up feeling empty throughout her life. One morning, after putting her five month old baby girl in her swing for a nap, Jess was devastated with a knock on the door with the news that her first husband, Tell had been killed in action while he was stationed in Iraq. God used a sympathy card filled with verses from a friend she hardly knew that drew Jess to God’s word. In her desperation, Jess found a Bible in her home and dove in head first into reading the scriptures. In this episode you will hear how Jess came to faith in Christ after visiting with a friend at his church. This friend eventually became her husband, a man who passionately loved God and those around him.
This is what Jess said about her story. “Today, I am a mess. But, oh the treasure of Christ. I am seen…a life of feeling unseen and bitter about it. So bitter. Now, God reminds me daily to Whom I belong and there is redemption. There is a breaking of the chain of misaffection and misplaced identity. And, I hope to share that with other women.”
Ya’ll Jess is using all of her story to glorify Him. And, I’m so grateful. I pray you will walk away encouraged, feeling seen and loved by God, and praising God who redeems us.
All of the links and things Jess and I talked about will be in the show notes below. Ok, One more thing! If you were encouraged by what you heard today, I would love for you to forward this episode on to a friend! I think that we are all better together and today is the perfect time to give that friend in mind some encouragement.

Hey friends!
Let’s get to today’s episode! I recently heard about Annie Pajcic. She’s a wife, a mom of 4, and an amazing artist. She uses her creativity to teach women, teens and tweens about Jesus. We found each other through a friends’ recent podcast episode and we had the best time talking. We chat about so many things, but one surprising event changed her life forever. She lost her best friend in a boating accident on her 17th birthday. God used this tragic accident to move in Annie’ life from a worldly perspective to a life of passion to know the Lord and encourage others to do the same.
Embracing her background in youth ministry and the arts, she founded ThouArtExalted. it combines the study of God’s Word with Annie’s passion for the arts. With 1 Chronicles 29:11 as a guide, ThouArtExalted provides art-based Bible studies, free devotions, speaking events, art camps, conferences, and online resources to help women, teens, and tweens deepen a relationship with Jesus. You will be encouraged how walking through hard and joy filled times will increase your faith and get you excited about your walk with Jesus.

So many new things happening here at the podcast that I’m so thrilled about! One of which is that We launched my new web site, wrenrobbins.com! I really wanted to have a landing spot where I could share more content with you guys:
I would love for you to go check the web site out, go ahead and sign up for the Friends of a Feather mailing list so you can start getting emails that encourage, and give you resources I have used and love, and perhaps a discount code here and there from my favorite companies! As a thank you for you for signing up to receive the newsletter, you will get a free download of one of my favorite verses directly in your inbox after subscribing!
Ok! Let’s get to today’s episode!
Today’s episode is with my guest Michele Dyer. Michele is a wife, mom to 2 boys, a Christian Leadership Coach and a Certified Behavior Specialist. Michele loves discovering new ways to help others identify their life’s calling and mission.
Michele also cherishes her role as wife and mom. She and her husband John have been married since 1997, they have two boys, Alec and Caedon. Though she’s about to be an empty-nester, she’s about to figure this "parenting thing" out, and to help other mom’s “crack the code” of parenting each child according to their natural bent. After our conversation, I told Michele she needed to write a book on parenting! Such wisdom she gives in this episode!
I am thrilled to have Michele join me as my guest today because we dive into two things I’m passionate about: encouraging women to discover the talents God has gifted them with, to put them into practice and how we can use personality tests as a tool in doing so.
You may be an Enneagram enthusiast or you may be just shaking your head, but I promise, there is something for everyone in this episode! You will learn so much about parenting, how the Enneagram personality point system can help you identifty your strengths and how God can walk with you through your weaknesses, how we can use personality tests in marriage, so much more! I enjoyed our conversation so much and I know you will too!

Today’s episode is with my guest Nicole Cole. Nicole is a wife, mom, lifestyle blogger, photographer, and co-shop owner. Nicole has creativity oozing out of her and she’s just the cutest thing, too.
I met Nicole through a mutual friend (thanks, Courtney!) at the Story & Soul Weekend. We were signed up to go to one of the same break out sessions and as we walked up the stairs and into the room, I asked Nicole about her story. She began to share with me with such ease and grace about how the Lord brought her through a season of waiting while they desired to grow their family. Nicole and her husband, Tyler walked through a failed adoption that was so devastating to them but they believe that each and every day was completely ordained by Him. By grace alone, they are now the parents of not one... but TWO children. Their sweet Campbell came home to them via adoption in late October 2016 and their Crawford girl was born in January of 2017. Yes, you did the math right. She has 2 two year olds!! She is able to stay home with them and she also does some photography work on the side. Her desire is to continually point to the faithfulness and goodness of Jesus. As you read her words, it is her desire that you would see Jesus and that you would boldly choose to follow Him in joyful obedience. Ya’ll, she’s the real deal. Nicole is also passionate about Biblical Literacy. Toward the end of our conversation, she gives us some ideas and practical resources for that and you will want to stay tuned in for those! Especially the FREE resource she mentions! Ok, so here’s my conversation with Nicole!

Let’s get to todays episode with my guest Bailey T. Hurley. Bailey is a wife to Tim, mom to Hunter and a little girl on the way. She’s an avid reader, a community-builder, blogger, writer, and speaker in the Denver area. Bailey invites women to creatively build rooted community in their corner of the world. In this episode we talk about being a community builder, tips on being a great friend, how she does that practically. I also ask her about this quote she wrote about in an article in the Dearly magazine, Bailey said, “Truly, every woman is a community-builder, but she just needs to be empowered to make some friendship moves with the resources and talents she already has.” Goodness I love that.
Bailey has the sweetest soul and motivates me to be more intentional with those around me. She uses her gifts by being an encouraging bright light andher smile is contagious. We just had the best time together! I'm sure if I lived in Denver we would be the best of friends:)

Today's episode is with my guest Maggie Combs. Maggie is a wife, mom to three boys, author, writer, speaker, and mentor, and living the small farm life in Minnesota,. Maggie’s first book is entitled, Unsupermommy and I loved it. One of the best books I have ever read! Over on Maggie’s instagram @unsupermommy, I love how she shares practical gospel truth in the midst of her real life. And, that is what this episode is about! I wanted to know about her farm life, her life with her hubby and three boys, and what led her to write Unsupermommy. I asked her a lot of questions about different aspects of mommyhood that I had read in her book.
I cannot say enough about how much I loved this episode and of course, Maggie. What you don’t know is that the power went out at the beginning of our conversation and I had to wait until my router rebooted! Maggie was so kind about it and told me about another time something like that happened to her and it made me feel so much better!

Joy, pure Joy! That is what I heard in Presley's voice when I talked with her on this episode! Even through the tears.
Presley is a wife, blogger, dog mom to her cute puppy dog, Duke! Presley is passionate about Jesus, lettering, fitness, and style and she blogs about all of those things!
She opens up about the hardest part of her childhood, losing her mom to a drunk driving accident when Presley was a young girl. We talk about what that loss felt like and how she worked through it as an adult. Presley makes events memorable and you will hear how she remembered her mother on her wedding day in the most precious way.

# 5: Same Here Sisterfriend book
Join Engaging Motherhood's contributing author Holly Mackle and her sisterfriends as they laugh their way through the misadventures of authentic motherhood. Full of wit and charm, Mackle guides readers through a collection of hilarious and vulnerable tales written by moms who have seen it all.
Laugh alongside a group of real mamas as they tell of the neverending joys and unpredictable perils of motherhood. Between diaper fiascos and singing potties, and whether mowing to escape reality or being mistaken as a pile of laundry--hilarity ensues. The extraordinary vulnerability found in Same Here, Sisterfriend will not only remind every mom that she's not alone, but also encourage her to look for grace in even the messiest moments.
Sisterfriends keep each other sane, strong, and lighthearted, which is exactly what Holly Mackle's mom-community does: bring a little levity to the rough trenches of mamahood. So long as sisterfriends are only a text away, they can be sure of one thing--they will never have to face the mom life alone.
With a little commiseration and a lot of laughter, the ladies behind the creation of Same Here, Sisterfriend encourage moms everywhere to let go of the image of perfection and rest in knowing that their sisterfriends have their back. So it's time to link arms in sisterfriend solidarity, because we might as well laugh, mama.
I literally read this book the fastest I’ve ever read a book! Tears running down my face as I was reading. You will love it!

2: Unsupermommy book
Imperfections are opportunities to receive God's unending strength.
No mother can live up to supermommy expectations. Thankfully, God isn't looking for perfection. He's calling on imperfect moms to be faithfully plugged into his superpowers.
In Unsupermommy, Maggie delves into expectations every new mom faces--for her baby, personal appearance, housekeeping, marriage, parenting, and more. She shares that by having three babies in three years God used the trenches of motherhood to transform her life, releasing her from the pressure of perfection. Her desire is to see discouraged moms freed from expectations prevalent in society, social media, blogs, and even our own hearts.
Maggie's candid motherhood story will inspire you to embrace your own imperfection as a means to receiving God's grace. You don't need to be a supermommy when you rely on a superpowered God. This book has meant the world to me. I recently read it and it has made such a difference in how I view my role as a mom to my son, relating to my husband, and so encouraging to not have to rely on my own strength!
You can find Maggie over at on Instagram
Go order her book over on Amazon, and it will change your perspective on everything!
And, ya’ll stay tuned bc Maggie coming on the podcast to chat with me to share her story in December! Can’t wait!

Val Marie Paper all started when Valarie Woerner’s fears during pregnancy had her searching for a prayer journal where she could organize her thoughts and every symptom she could possibly worry about. (She’s a self-diagnosed hypochondriac) When she couldn’t find what she was looking for, she used that old journalism degree and skills designing wedding invitations to create her own.
In the fall of 2013, about 2 weeks before her first daughter was born, she started selling our 6-month prayer journal. It exploded. It turns out she wasn’t the only one whose prayer time many days consisted of staring at a blank wall running through her to-do list instead of actually praying.
They've had them used by famous bachelorettes, Canadian style mavens, and authors with books you’ve probably got on your shelf. Why? Because none of us are immune to distractions in our prayer life and we all need a little help to focus on what matters most to us!
Our mission is to create practical tools and content that equip women to cut through the noise of everyday life and find fullness of life in the presence of the Lord.
So excited and grateful to tell you about this company Valarie began 5 years ago. Valmarie Paper has graciously given my Friends of a Feather listeners the code FRIENDS3 for 20% off when they purchase 3 or more products (only excluding their Yearly Prayer Journal).
This is great for multiple gifts because it brings our $15 journals down to $12!
I have used the Fresh Start prayer journal and devotional, I am currently using the 6 month prayer journal, and I’ve already sent the link to my husband for the yearly prayer journal for Christmas!

Bonus: The Friends of a Feather HOPE bird
At the friends of a Feather Podcast, stories are shared, some of who you may know, some you may know only on the internet!
I am grateful that I get to chat with women who have a story to tell, a dream that they are pursuing or a passion to share.
Years ago as I was walking through the pain of infertility, a friend gave me a handcrafted ceramic bird. The simple word, Hope was hand stamped on the side of it. The bird now hangs on a lamp in my office. It has been a very meaningful gift to me, a sign of hope, a sign that like my friends fingerprints on the clay, God’s fingerprints were on my life. I had hope. Rom. 15:13 says, “ May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” When walking through my difficult heart-yearning time, I needed to trust and hope and I found that. Encouragement from friends like my friend, Stacey and this little bird she handcrafted for me was a constant visual reminder of the HOPE that Jesus gives, that He was with me in the midst of the trial. I am pleased to announce that we have partnered with Stacey who is Meredith Design Co to create a one of a kind HOPE bird inspired by the original one she made me seven years ago. This is an exclusive for Friends of a Feather. Each one is hand made and hand stamped with the word HOPE by Stacey and only available through our podcast.
We could not be any more happy with this product and that it will be provided to you, the Friends of a Feather listeners.
Consider giving a friend going through a hard time this gift of HOPE. The release date for the limited edition Friends of a Feather HOPE bird is today. I would love for you to go check it out at HOPE bird. They are available for a limited time only and will be shipped the week of December 3rd.
Our prayer is that the Hope Bird will become a visual reminder that there is hope in the Lord and that His fingerprints are on your story. Each bird is lovingly handmade and unique... just like you.

Let’s get to todays episode with Lauren K. Denton. I picked up one of Lauren’s novels in August and I loved reading it! Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Lauren now lives with her husband and two young daughters in Homewood, just outside Birmingham. In addition to her fiction, she writes a monthly newspaper column about life, faith, and how funny (and hard) it is to be a parent. On any given day, she’d rather be at the beach with her family and a stack of books. Her debut novel, The Hideaway, is USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Amazon Charts bestseller. Her second novel, Hurricane Season, released in April, 2018, and was listed on BookPage's 2018 list of Most Anticipated Fiction. And, I want to give a little plug for Lauren’s two books and the one coming out in March. The Hideaway Hurricane Season, and Glory road are her novels! If you like Southern fiction, you will love how Lauren writes the setting, how the characters are relatable and how she creates an interesting story line and it will have you hooked
Its episode 64 and we talk about how Laurens love for reading and writing came at an early age, and how she realized her calling was to write. She is a thoroughly gifted writer and I was thrilled to be able to chat with her. She’s a big deal and I’m thankful she was able to sit down with me and chat.
We talk about how she manages her writing and being a mother to her two young girls. I love how Laurens stories always have hope and redemption that shines through and I love that. We talk about what Lauren does when she gets stuck and cannot write any more. I love how she brings everyday moments into the light when writing a column for Homewoods newspaper, The Homewood Star. You will think you are chatting with a friend. Lauren is warm, inviting, and shares her story with us today and Im so grateful. You will love her and will want to read her books.

Today’s episode is episode 63 with my friend, Karlye Sills. Karlye and I recently met in person and she is super sweet! I loved chatting with her today and know you will enjoy hearing her story! Karlye shares how she went from a wife desiring children to a mother of four children! During the years of infertility, miscarriage, a physical diagnosis of PCOS, dimished egg reserve, and diminished ovarian quality, Karlye explains how God showed her how to rely on Him and to follow His plan for her life. Through all of it, Karlye’s faith was strengthened knowing God’s plan was at work and she has experienced such peace through that!
We talk about getting pregnant naturally, her two IVF cycles, and having the shock of getting pregnant with twins! We also chat about the accidental way she started her business of sharing about essential oils with the Young Living brand. She even shares her favorite 6 oils! You will be encouraged through Karyle’s story!
I would love to encourage you to share the podcast with your friends! There are many episodes of different stories of women who are sure to encourage you in your faith journey! After I listen, I’m always encouraged and I desire to love Jesus more from hearing from my friends! A few I would love to suggest would be Ep. 51 with my friend Tracey when she talks about walking through her husbands gambling addiction, forgiving him, and how God restored her marriage, Also, Ep. 52 was with Mary Flo Ridley when she talked about talking to your kids about the birds and the bees that you don’t want to miss!
I would love to connect with you on Instagram!
This is episode 62 and my guests are Katie Norrid and Amy Mobley. In 2017, Katie & Amy decided to take a leap and start City Hill Design and turn their talent and passion into something more by working with builders, remodelers, and homeowners in the Memphis area. With a combined 8 years of experience, they have a fantastic eye for design, a love of working hard, and a desire to help people achieve a home they can enjoyand be proud of.
Amy finds joy in bringing a laid back touch into spaces with a little bit of modern aestheticwhile Katie loves crafting spaces with an old world charm while keeping things calm, neutral, and timeless.
We talk about growing up together with a famous basketball brother, the memories they love about growing up, how they ended up working at the same homebuilding company and something unplanned in March of 2017 that changed everything in the best way. This feels like a conversation between friends, even if we just met the day of recording in my kitchen. I could not stop smiling while I was editing this episode. You will be encouraged in your faith walk and will be refreshed through Katie and Amy’s story!

Welcome to the Friends of a Feather podcast where my friends share their story of how they have been changed by Jesus. Receive encouragement from my friend Kathryn on episode 60 today!
Kathryn is a wife, mom to two high schoolers, Bible teacher, encourager, and friend to those she meets. A few years ago, Kathryn was called out of her comfort zone in order to fully use the gift of teaching that God had placed within her. Her life has been changed because of learning and teaching God's word chronologically.
We talk about how Kathryn used to plan her life (or so she thought), down to when she would have her children biologically. Three IVF procedures later and God called her to drop what she thought as "perfect" and came to know him personally. Kathryn and her husband Jay were called to adopt their daughter and then their son 11 months later.
Throughout Kathryn's life, you will hear how God has moved and you will be encouraged to hear the wisdom she shares, how she points us all back to Jesus, and how she knows that prayer matters. You will come away refreshed and desiring to know Him better.
Be encouraged, friends!

Today my guest is my friend, Courtney Kassner. Courtney is a wife and mom to three. She is the first Instagram friend who I met in real life recently!
I enjoyed hearing how her company Crew & Co was born back in 2015! Working at a corporate job, Courtney felt unhappy and knew there had to be a job out there that would allow her to express her creativity and give honor to God. When her second son was born, she came up with her own scripture cards out of a need to instill God’s word or truth into her first sons life.
We also talked about growth and support in marriage, in business, questioning God when seeking direction, and how thankful she is to be using her talents in a creative and honoring way to the Lord.
I love how Courtney talked about using her scripture cards to be Intentional for gospel sharing with your kids cause that has been her goal from the very beginning.
Again we talk about how it’s so crazy that God can bring our sweetest friends through meeting on Instagram...like us!!
Great book recommendation from Courtney about finding mom friends that is sometimes hard to do!!

Today my guest is my friend, Tracey. I met Tracey a few months ago standing in the hallway into my moms office at work. She is honest, lovable, sweet, and funny.
On this episode we talk about Tracey’s story of feeling betrayed by and lied to by her husband, Dwight while he was secretly hiding his addiction to gambling. You will hear the ups and downs of their marriage relationship that eventually led to their separation.
But, God.
You will hear about the moment that started the healing in their marriage. And, when Tracey fell back in love with him and started to trust him again.
Ya’ll. Tracey’s and Dwight’s story has the gospel weaved all through it. This story could have ended so much differently, but God brought them both to their knees and their marriage was saved.
Be encouraged through this amazing story of redemption, restoration, and love again.
edited to add: If you are reading this and no matter how hard you tried or prayed for it, your story did not end up in this way, know that you are loved💓It is about choices of both of the people in the relationship.

Today's episode is special because it's my 50th episode!!! To celebrate this milestone, I brought my husband on the podcast to share our journey of infertility.
We chat about how we were naive thinking we would get pregnant easily according to "our" plans, the sweet moment our friends gave us, and what it was like realizing giving birth may not happen for us. I may or may not have teared up once!!!
We also chat about how I struggled but learned how to close my mouth and pray during a time when I needed to submit to my husband. God changed our circumstances, but not in our timing. God had a plan!
We chat a little about the podcast, my passion for encouraging women, and something you can do to encourage me! (Rating and review;)
You will get to hear what Jim is eating, reading, and loving these days!

Hello!! Glad you are here! On the Friends of a Feather podcast, I love chatting with friends who have a dream they are pursuing or an encouraging story to tell. We are all friends of a feather!
On this episode, I chat with my friend, Ashley. Ashley is a wife to Ken, mom to three elementary school-age kids, and owner of Ashley Anthony Artwork.
I love talking with Ashley about how she balances it all; raising kids and flourishing in her company. We also talk through the tears about how her art has helped her through the grieving process of losing her mother in law and mother recently.
And, new feature...blooper reel at the end;)
