Excuses.

Everyone is full of them today.

“I don’t have time!” “I don’t have the money!” “I would, but Billy tried it and it didn’t work out for him.”

These are just a few of the excuses I hear on a daily basis and it makes me sick. It literally turns my stomach every time someone comes up with an excuse on why they can’t accomplish something. And unfortunately that’s the way most people are wired these days. There’s an overwhelming sense of entitlement out there and it’s becoming a major problem because it’s literally stopping people from achieving their goals.

At the end of the day it’s a mindset issue. But, what if you just tried changing in your mindset for one day?

This episode is going to take you through what should be the second step in every sales process- The Mutual Agreement Plan. If you haven’t listened to episode 1 yet I would highly recommend you start there first (but it’s not absolutely necessary). The Mutual Agreement plan is where you get commitment or buy-in from your customer to move forward into the next phase of your engagement with them.  It’s crucial that you establish a mutually agreed upon plan before taking any further steps with a prospect or customer. Their response to this request will show you how committed or serious they are about buying from you. If you cannot come to a mutually agreed upon plan for the sales process, then you might as well just walk away now. You’ll be chasing your customer down throughout the entire sales cycle and ultimately lose out on the deal. This will cost you valuable time and resources that you could be focusing else ware with more serious buyers. Listen now and learn how you can AVOID this!

Sales is not a dark art. You do not need to be an in your face sales person to win business. You just need to be armed with the correct line of questioning. And that's exactly what we’ll be covering in this episode. First, we’re going to touch on the basics which will include close-ended questions, open-ended questions and layering questions (my favorite). After we run through the basics, we’ll be jumping into how you can better understand your customers. More specifically, understanding what their current situation is, what challenges they’re facing and how those challenges are impacting their business and them personally. Finally, we’ll uncover exactly what you need to do for follow up AFTER your initial discovery meeting takes place.
