Matt Zolla and Matt Sieja introduce the concept of a new show, Meet Fern Creek, where we introduce listeners to incredible followers of Jesus inside our congregation. This show is just one of many ways we want you to stay connected and encouraged by someone's story. God uses ordinary, regular people to accomplish mighty things for His kingdom. We pray this new show helps you see that in an intimate light.

God doesn't require perfection in order to serve His church. When we look at the disciples in the Bible, we see regular, ordinary, prone-to-fail kind of people who dropped everything they had to follow Jesus. At some point, however, they switched from watching Jesus from the sidelines to being put in the game to make disciples on their own.

Two daughters need healing, and only Jesus can heal them both. Flip your Bibles to Mark 22 and let's read the story of the bleeding woman and the daughter of Jairus. There's many layers to the story similar to a chocolate glazed donut with cream filling, but we learn that Jesus makes unclean people clean.

When a demon-possessed man near the Sea of Galilee gets freed from his demon, he asks if he can follow Jesus on His journey, but Jesus says no. That's right - Jesus says no. But this man turns back and tells everyone in the town what Jesus had done for him. Instead of being bogged down by a "no," he focuses on the "yes." The greatest act of worship is trusting God even when He says no.

It's tempting to look at the story of Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee and assume that Jesus will calm any storm in your life. Any headache? Despair? Anxiety? Grief? Yes, Jesus can calm it, but that doesn't mean He will. The disciples were afraid because they didn't realize that Jesus, God in the flesh, was in the boat with them. Next time you think God doesn't care about what you're going through, remember that He is good and He is with you. He is drawing you closer and preparing for eternal life with Him.

Some Italians, party poopers, and a king - they all make one good story and one clear message about who Jesus is and what He came to do. Jesus wasn't just any ordinary man or a good moral teacher, He is the Son of God. If you turn to Mark 2 in your Bibles, Jesus heals a paralytic who ended up at the feet of Jesus after being lowered from the ceiling. God is calling you into deeper relationship with Him. Looking at some moments in the Gospels when Jesus and His disciples were on the Sea of Galilee, one can see four clear stages of discipleship that all followers of Jesus fall under. We are curious about Jesus, connected to Him, convicted by our sin compared to His grace, and committed to following and obeying Him in all circumstances. What stage is God calling you into?

Four lepers in 2 Kings 6 used God's blessing in their lives to turn around and bless others. They had been mistreated, looked down upon, but instead of holding resentment in their hearts, they shared God's blessing with others. God blesses us not so that we can keep it to ourselves, but so that we can go and declare the good news to all who can hear, making disciples who make disciples.

It's the last Sunday before Christmas Eve! Sometimes, like Aunt Bethany in 'Christmas Vacation', we get confused and misled about the true meaning of Christmas. This week, we are taking a break from our Elevate series to address the state of our country and the protests happening in cities nationwide. The church is called to weep with those who weep and bear each other's burdens because that's what Jesus did for us. Let us not turn a blind eye to the black community, but let us learn, listen, lament and lift our black brothers and sisters together as a family.

Happy Mother's Day, church! Today, we get to hear a special message from our Minister of Worship and Creative Arts, Matt Zolla, about letting go of things in our life that we can't control. In Exodus 2, God used a caring mother, Jochebed, to demonstrate His faithfulness to those who trust Him and surrender their life to Him.
