In this episode, we’re talking about the power of small choices and how they shape our lives. We often overlook the little things we do daily, but they add up in ways we may not realize. Whether we’re building success or heading towards failure, it all comes down to our daily habits.
In this episode, we’ll discuss the importance of holding fast to sound doctrine in a world full of differing teachings. I’ve been reflecting on this a lot lately, and I want to share some thoughts on why it’s so crucial to remain faithful to the core truths of our faith, even when it's challenging not to withstand. I hope this episode inspires you to dig into the word of God yourself as we see Paul praised this within Acts 17 when he was teaching.
The Bible isn't meant solely for intellectual examination; rather, it serves as a lens through which we see Jesus. Scriptures themselves don't possess life; they direct us to Jesus, who is the source of life. It's not merely about knowing about Jesus; it's about actively seeking and embracing Him.
Spiritual transformation starts in the mind and heart. A mind dedicated to the world and its concerns will produce a life tossed back and forth by the currents of culture. But a mind dedicated to God’s truth will produce a life that can stand the test of time. We can resist the temptations of our culture by meditating on God’s truth and letting the Holy Spirit guide and shape our thoughts and behaviors.
Feedback is like a mirror reflecting aspects of ourselves that we might not see clearly. It's natural to feel uneasy about seeking feedback. After all, it requires us to be vulnerable, and the insights it provides can sometimes sting. But embracing feedback is essential because it unveils our blind spots and opens avenues for improvement.
"In its simplest definition, discernment is nothing more than the ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong. Discernment is the process of making careful distinctions in our thinking about truth. In other words, the ability to think with discernment is synonymous with an ability to think biblically.
First Thessalonians 5:21-22 teaches that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be discerning: "But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil." The apostle John issues a similar warning when he says, "Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1). According to the New Testament, discernment is not optional for the believer-it is required."

Proverbs 20:19 says, “A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.” Words are powerful. They can build up or destroy James 3 instructs us to control our words, stating in verse 5: “Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.” Spreading “harmless” rumors, then, can cause great destruction. God desires that we use our words to praise Him, to speak wisdom, correct in love and to encourage and edify each other. Let's dive deeper and unpack that in this episode.

When you stop developing leaders, you stop growing. It's very important as a leader that we have the people we are responsible for on a leadership development plan.
Saul built an altar to the Lord and in the next Chapter he was building an altar to himself. We have to consistently ask ourselves who are we really pointing people to, Self or God? Let us examine when Jesus said many will say they did things for me, but I will say depart from.
Personal boundaries help to limit our selfish inclination to control or manipulate others. Likewise, boundaries protect us from those who have no self-control and who wish to control us. A person with clear, healthy boundaries communicates to others what is and is not permissible, saying, in effect, “This is my jurisdiction, and you have no right to interfere."

As a leader, do you take the time to position people well so that they may succeed in the role that they are responsible for? Many people are out of position due to various reasons and sometimes it's simply a different season in life. Sometimes prayer is used as an excuse to advocate our responsibility to actually help people who have problems because I can say I'm praying for you and there is no accountability as to whether I actually did that or not. Reconciliation is the spiritual practice of seeking a loving, liberating, and life-giving relationship with God and one another, and striving to heal and transform our lives through what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did for us. Let's talk about why we should be active in this.

Many leaders and people within the local church have made it very competitive to the point where you would think God is divided against himself. This has also led to a lot more agendas for self than the Kingdom Agenda. However, we should remember that this is truly about Christ and his love for us rather than it is about us and what we want.

A lot of times ambition can carry negative connotations, but what about when it's submitted to God? Before Paul was converted, he was considered Saul, but his ambition and zeal never faded. He killed a lot of Christians, but when he got saved due to the encounter with Jesus, he went on to win a lot of souls for Christ. Could your leadership use more ambition? "I've had to learn how to get comfortable with my own "No" and I think this is why the Power of No was one of my favorite chapters in the book Balance. Far too many relationships work only because people say yes most of the time. Trying to avoid conflict by withholding a warranted no doesn't insure peace but increases friction within.

In Romans 12:1, Paul says, “I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.” Paul’s admonition to the believers in Rome was to sacrifice themselves to God, not as a sacrifice on the altar, as the Mosaic Law required the sacrifice of animals, but as a living sacrifice. The dictionary defines sacrifice as “anything consecrated and offered to God.” As believers, how do we consecrate and offer ourselves to God as a living sacrifice?

Contextual Leadership is basically the attempt to see things right before we try to set things right. Context can be just as important as the content and is vital within the leadership. Are you a contextual leader?
“The focal point of servant leadership within the church is “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Ephesians 4:12). We look at this verse in the context of the (faith) Bible of course, and how it translates within the secular world as well. Servant leadership at its core is what a true leader is. This is demonstrated in the leader’s willingness to give of himself to meet the needs, but not necessarily the wants, of his people. Like a good parent, the true servant leader knows the difference between the needs of his spiritual children and their selfish wants and desires.

We make loving people a lot more complicated by avoiding the very people Jesus would've engaged. I think many of us like to spend more time constructing Scripture to mask our shortcomings in this area rather than simply doing what Jesus said.
It's easier said than done, but Jesus still decided to make it a command. Maybe it's because we should love just as he loved and continues to love us. Those who love like Christ in the Holy Spirit’s power will give evidence that they are disciples.

We need to understand the mosaic and tapestry of humanity and what God intended us to be and do it based on the cultural context. What we need to do is not belittle how people connect to God but be honest about it and have dialogue without demonizing the reality of who we are. We see each other through cultural context. For me to say I don't see you as a white man/woman or you to say you don’t see me as a black man or see a black woman is to dishonor that God made us different. The key to the blood of Christ is that I don't see you as better or worse than me, I see you equal to me and that's where the "church" hasn't been loud. The blood doesn't just save us it makes us siblings. Heirs and co-heirs with Christ. It's very hard to dishonor what reminds you of yourself. Have uncomfortable conversations because they will lead to healing. Many times when people from different backgrounds come to the fellowship we shouldn’t look at them as outsiders. Manhood is very loose today especially considering the context of the times we live in. A Godly man is not a perfect man. We will never reach perfection until we are in the physical presence of Jesus (1 Corinthians 13:12; 1 John 3:2). We live in a world that all about self but Christ told us we must die to it in proper context. Do you live a life that satisfies your flesh more than it does the Holy Spirit? If so, this episode will be for you for sure as we unpack how to live a life that Jesus called us to live.

I'm sure you've heard the quote to each is his/her own. In this episode, I wanted to unpack that a little through how I see that and why I believe understanding each person has the right to their personal preferences as long as it doesn't contradict scripture of course. Your end game and season of life is vital to respecting and understanding how we can walk away or move forward with what God has placed in your heart to do.
What's the real reason you do what you do? A motive is defined as the underlying reason for any action. Many times we believe that because we have the right words and actions, we think it's pleasing to God. In this episode, we will examine how God is interested in our motives more than he is our words and actions.

That's one major thing many of these people have in common, they never feel like they know all it is about leadership. This is something that has to be cultivated daily especially as times change. Within this episode, I just want to share some of my overall thoughts on the broad term LEADERSHIP! Leading from the heart by starting with self.
There is no shortage of information in the world today. It's not scarce as it used to be because everything is right at our fingertips. With that comes information overload, meaning the wealth of information can lead to poverty of focus. In other words, "focusing on everything is focusing on nothing" - Michel Hyatt. Let's explore this topic together by discussing what it truly means to Focus.
Andy Stanly said it best "Direction, not intention, determines the destination." I believe most of us have intentions for being great in life. However, many of us lack the preparation that usually drives the direction we need in order to move towards our destination. This episode will unpack this concept and help you understand that intention is simply the starting point but you need more in order to get to the endpoint.
You have to be willing to develop throughout your career and life in general. Within this episode, we will focus on 3 areas that will help you develop and excel within your career or purpose itself.
Choosing a career can be difficult especially without prayer. Therefore we must seek God and do our due diligence because only what God has declared over us is what's guaranteed to take place. As we conclude the Stewardship series, we dive into what this term means and echo some of the things we went over within the first 3 episodes. Dr. Tony Evans teaches a lot on this Kingdom concept so it's only right that we start it off by highlighting some of his notes.
Wealth is morally neutral; there is nothing wrong with money, in and of itself, or the possession of money. However, when money begins to control us, that’s when trouble starts. In other words, money takes on the characteristics of the individual and that's why perspective is key.
You can't serve/advance the kingdom of God with the wrong poverty mindset. Proper financial stewardship is more than being frugal but recognizing and understanding the basics of personal finance and planning to help us reach life goals. A lot of times it's not that we need more money but needs to understand the importance of managing God's money his way, not our way.
Dave Ramsey and Robert Morris have influenced me a lot on how I now understand stewardship. It helped me a great deal because many people don't have a proper understanding of stewardship but it's one of our primary callings in life. Within this episode, we will kick off our stewardship series and explain what stewardship actually is.
How we spend our time determines how we spend our lives and both are limited. This is why we must learn to live each day with an eternal perspective that we gain a heart of wisdom to be better stewards of our time.
Discipleship is the process by which disciples grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and are equipped by the Holy Spirit, who resides in our hearts, to overcome the pressures and trials of this present life and become more and more Christlike. This process requires believers to respond to the Holy Spirit’s prompting to examine their thoughts, words, and actions and compare them with the Word of God. This requires that we be in the Word daily—studying it, praying over it, and obeying it.
A quote I read within Good Leaders Ask Great Questions by John C. Maxwell read as "you're not made in a crisis, you're revealed. Within this episode, I want to unpack why this is more relevant than ever giving coronavirus (COVID-19). Using Michael Hyatt said, "draw a different frame around the same set of circumstances and new pathways come into view." We will come to understand how a crisis can actually produce what's already been there.
Are you applying what you're learning? Through application is where the deeper learning comes from. Within this episode, we will use James 1: 23-25 as our foundational text and unpack the statement "You can't improve on the day to day living if you aren't applying it."
Pandemic diseases may or may not be tied to God’s specific judgment of sin with the goal of repentance and restoration or it could be the result of living in a broken world. God is in control. Be wise. Look for opportunities for ministry by being bold and compassionate as you share the gospel speaking the truth in love.
YOU spend a lot of time at work and honestly probably spend more time at work than you spend with family and etc….. I believe God took this into consideration and that's why your work matters to Him! Many times we can feel that God only cares about the work we do outside of our day to day job or what we only do in the context of the local church. That being said, let's dive into what Colossians 3:23 truly means within the proper context.
Contentment isn't a lack of ambition or action or intensity, it's the condition of our hearts while we are pursuing those things. Within this episode, we will dive into what contentment is and what it is not and most importantly how it's vital to us in our pursuit of success.
Seasons change with time, cycles change when we do. Many of us want to spend our entire life reaping a harvest put fail to realize that our harvest is only as strong as our seed planting, cultivating, and trusting in God to bring the rain. If we don't respect the season of life we are in we automatically operate within a deficiency.
Within this episode, I want to share why I've decided to rebrand, what I've been up to and what's coming down the pipe!
The wrong perspective will keep you from freedom or seeing as God wants you to see. God has already done it but in most cases, it's us not seeing it. Why do you think people say hindsight is 2020? Within today's society, we don't have an information problem that gives us the ability to fill our minds with knowledge but we do lack having well-formed minds. That's what I'm striving to unpack within this episode that we lack the how-to implement what we have learned and why we don't retain that information.
The Bible tells us within Hebrews 12:1 "let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Often times in life we start to compete with others or comparing and running a race that was never intended for us.
