I had received an email from his publisher stating that Fred was available for interviews and would I be interested in having him on the show.
I remember saying "Are you kidding? Absolutely!"
As ;you'll hear Fred was a great man to chat with, very friendly, very appreciative and you knew he had fun, because instead of the standard 10 minutes he was with us for almost 20.
R.I.P. Fred Willard, you brought a ton of joy and laughter to millions around the world.

Some works of wet plate photographer Shane Balkowitsch will be permanently displayed at the Pitts River Museum on the campus of Oxford in the UK.
Shane has taken numerous wet plate photos of Native Americans and his "Northern Plains Native Americans: A Modern Wet Plate Perspective" will go on display there in the very near future.
Shane's works are also part of the "Picture Fence" currently on display in the FM Area and some of his works are being shown at the Plains Art Museum.

Kim Jore, regional artist has come up with another great are project to help raise money for homeless shelters.
Hometown Holiday's is a collection features 54 small towns all within 50 miles of the F-M area. Kim visited and photographed each town and incorporated the pictures with watercolor to produce a unique collage. (Barnesville is featured in the thumbnail of this podcast.)
Each also feature the towns zip code and GPS coordinates.
Proceeds to benefit Churches United and the Gladys Ray Shelter and Veterans Frop-in Center.

We chatted with Diana Whitcomb, who stars at Jean. Here's a brief note from the press release.
After stumbling upon Gordon and body and still-active cell phone, Jean becomes more and more involved with the grieving people around her. Keeping the titular cell phone for herself, she stumbles through a cast of absurd characters (those who knew Gordon while he was alive) and forms her own relationship with each. Separate yet involved, she comes dangerously close to losing herself to the ghost of Gordon past.

Ryan Hardy President of the Red River Theatre Organ Society announces that this years Silent Movie Night to benefit the Mighty Wurlitzer at the Fargo Theatre will be Virtual.
Hardy will score the science fiction film "A Trip to the Moon" by Georges Méliès, a French magician who pioneered the use of special effects in film and was most recently portrayed as a character in the 2011 movie "Hugo". Lance Johnson will accompany the classic Buster Keaton comedy film, "One Week."

Fargo Theatre will now be offering newly released films you can watch at home.
Sean Volk, Development and Engagement at the Fargo Theatre says that their first offering will be a documentary of the late Congressman and Civil Rights pioneer John Lewis, titled "John Lewis: Good Trouble."
Patrons can simply go to the Fargo Theatre website and order the download there. It's just $12.00 and you'll have up to 30 days to watch the film. Half the proceeds will go to the Fargo Theatre.
Sean says there are several films waiting in the wings for future shows.

With the loss of Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg I thought it might be appropriate to replay an interview I had with Bryant Johnson, Judge Ginsburg's personal trainer.
Bryant is a man who was probably closest to her over the last several years and her reputation for sticking to a straight workout regimen development by Bryant, gave him the idea of the "RBG Workout" book. Nine inches of rain washed out the first attempt at Pioneer day at Bonanzaville but now Events Coordinator Missy Warren says they're ready to go next Saturday Sept. 5th.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Women's Suffrage, visitors can speak to North Dakota suffragist Clara Dillon Darrow who will be giving her "I want to vote" speech. Other suffragists will include Elizabeth Preston Anderson, Helen DeLendrecie and Mary Weibel. While you're here, be sure to check out Bonanzaville's exhibit "I want to vote: 100 years of Women's Suffrage". Other activities include a kiddie tractor pull, kids haystack coin hunt, pioneer games, crafts, and much more! Check out the homemade lefse and kuchen demonstrations in the village or grab lunch from one of our food vendors. Blacksmithing and threshing demos too.

An amazing interview of the doctor and nurse who watched over John and Yoko in the hospital after a car accident.
He also talked with the engineer who recorded "Give Peace a Chance" at the Bed-In for Peace" in Toronto and gives a secret about the recording not many new about.
We talked a lot about John including him throwing up before his first concert appearance in some four years after the Beatles played the states.

Andrew Maus, Director and CEO of the Plains Art Museum tells us of the exciting new exhibit featuring works of some legendary artists.
From Renoir to Kostabi features selected works by six historically or critically acclaimed artists whose careers collectively span more than one hundred years, from the late nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries. Four of the artists, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec , Pablo Picasso , and Marc Chagall have been well known worldwide for many decades. The two other artists, equally deserving of such recognition, are likely being introduced to most exhibition visitors for the first time. Marcel Mouly was the last figure from the ‘School of Paris’ group to live well into the first decade of the new Millennium. Mark Kostabi (born 1960) is a widely celebrated contemporary artist who rose to fame in the 1980s as an active participant in New York City’s East Village Scene.
This exhibition of 219 prints was originally slated for exhibition at The State Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia and canceled due to Covid-related travel issues, Plains Art Museum welcomes the powerfully delightful exhibition.

When someone owes you money and they can't find you, they can't keep the money, but must submit it to that state's office of Unclaimed Property. Then it's up to you to check the list to see if you're listed...them millions of dollars waiting to be claimed include a couple of huge ones in N.D.
Monies might be from tax funds, insurance payments, rebate checks...the only physical property they take in is from abandoned safe deposit boxes.
I've found lots of cash for friends but have yet to find "Bob Harris" on the list.

When he's not at work at his dentist office, you might find Dr. Chris Dens on the water....or should I say above the water. He successfully skied on a pair of stilts 11 feet high and with him being at 6 feet...that's a total of 17 feet in above the water. Chris has entered his accomplishment to the Guinness Book of World records and his waiting to see if they accept his feet...I mean feat! Previous stilt skier had a pair at 10 1/2 feet. He want's to attempt 11 feet on one ski before moving to a taller pair of stilts.
Dr. Dens is also a member of the Brainerd Ski Loons Water Skiing show. There show this year was cancelled by the pandemic but will be back in 2021.

Prairie Style File's Alicia Underlee Nelson received a grant from the Arts Partnership to travel across the state of North Dakota to report on "Public Art" with this weeks report focusing on Grand Forks-East Grand Forks area.
The Forks is more of a sculpture area compared more murals in the F-M. We talked about their "Pocket Parks" ..Flood Memorial and Loon park. Alicia also talks with us about some things called "The Big Heads", And of course the beauty of the 2,200 acre Grand Forks Greenway and all it has to offer. (It's twice the size of Central Park in NYC.

The Robert Ludlum Estate choose Minnesota author Brian Freeman to continue the saga of Jason Bourne.
Brian says he's been a fan of Ludlum and the Bourne series for decades. He gives us a little hint of the plot of the book but a great description on how he was chosen to continue the novels from the Ludlum estate. I say novels because Brian announced to us that he's working on the next book now!.

Greta Guck of the Detroit Lakes Public Library joined us to talk about the success of the Book Bike Program, visiting parks, markets, and other events in the region. People can check out books, apply for a library card, it's a mobile hot spot and at certain events offers from books for the kids.
When folded up it reminds folks of one of the old ice cream bikes of the past but is pulled by an "e" bike and offers some motorized help.

Beginning Friday July 10th and running thru 9 pm July 24, the Plains Art Museum is holding a Virtual Art Auction. Because of the pandemic the original auction, which is part of the Spring Gala, was postponed until now. Andy Maus tells us a large number of items are posted on the Plains Art website with all kinds of different art genres listed.

Dan has performed with a number of bands including Johnny Holm. Has done many gigs in the Nashville area. and has a new band called the Tumbling Dice that will release a new CD this Friday.

There was sad news today on the death of one of the great comedic actors of our time. A Master of the ad-lib, Fred Willard star of TV and films passed away at the at of 86.
In June of 2011 Fred had put his name to a new trivia book on films,
I had received an email from his publisher stating that Fred was available for interviews and would I be interested in having him on the show.
I remember saying "Are you kidding? Absolutely!"
As ;you'll hear Fred was a great man to chat with, very friendly, very appreciative and you knew he had fun, because instead of the standard 10 minutes he was with us for almost 20.
R.I.P. Fred Willard, you brought a ton of joy and laughter to millions around the world.

Nikki McLeod is not only keeping busy with her music, but she is helping her mother and sister in a project called "Mama-Made Mercy Masks". They have made hundreds of cotton medical masks so far and the orders keep coming.
If fact they just received an order for 300 from the the USS Arleigh Burke. The ship carries 300 servicemen. It’s her understanding that this ship escorted/escorts one of the military COVID hospital ships and have no masks on board. Their going to try to get out 600 to them.
Nikki also tells us that she's on her 3rd sewing machine, because they have trouble with the constant sewing of this project.
The masks cost nothing, they are doing it for free, but are looking for donations of cotton, and "Pellon" a filter that is used in the mask. Cash donations can be made.

Roger Corman alumni, Beverly Gray joins Scotch and Bob Harris to talk about Roger Corman, Dick Miller, Slumber Party Massacre 3, and Ron Howard, among other things.
After completing her doctorate in Contemporary American Fiction, Beverly Gray worked for the legendary Roger Corman. At New World Pictures she edited scripts, wrote publicity materials, cast voice actors, and did just a little bit of everything. Later, she spent eight years at Concorde-New Horizon as Corman's story editor and development expert, overseeing the production of well over 150 low-budget movies. Beverly runs the blog Beverly in Movieland and has written books on Ron Howard, The Graduate and an unauthorized biography of Corman titled "Blood Sucking Vampires, Flesh Eating Cockroaches and Driller Killers."
She spent over a half hour talking with Scotch and Bob Harris, sharing great stories and revealing insights into the making of some of the great cult classics. Have a listen. We'll definitely be hearing more from Beverly on future episodes of the B-Movie Bonanza podcast.

Some of the topics Dr. Winning talked about is the growing concern about coronavirus.
We had a number of great question via phone and texts. Should I brush my dogs teeth or iare"cleaning treats" enough? Should our family get a second dog, a companion for an older one? Why does my dog lick the arms of my easy chair and nothing else? One of my dogs past away and now the other refuses to eat, what do I do?
Some owners don't recognize their pets are getting older because of the day to day association. But watch for weight loss, change in coat, mobility problems.
Can you use "Essential Oils" around or on my pet? Remember that pets have a keen sense of smell. Could any oils harm them?
Paulee even get to ask about one of his newest members of the family.
