In an intriguing exploration of how the world of superheroes intersects with professional sports, hosts Ray Carsillo and Lee MJ Elias engage in a thought-provoking discussion on which superhero would serve as the best kicker in the NFL. Drawing from a vast array of characters with unique powers, the debate spans the elastic capabilities of Mr. Fantastic, the raw power of the Hulk, and the strategic prowess of Superman. The conversation examines each superhero's potential on the football field, considering factors such as physical abilities, mental acuity, and the practical application of their superpowers in a game setting.

Key Discussion Points:

  • The episode opens with an introduction to the day's unique topic, setting the tone for a blend of sports analysis and superhero lore.
  • Lee presents Mr. Fantastic as the ideal candidate, citing his elasticity and ability to precisely control his kicks, potentially changing the dynamics of field goals in football.
  • Ray expands the debate by evaluating other superheroes, including the strength of Superman and Wonder Woman, and the utility of characters with different forms of elasticity, like Plastic Man and Elastigirl.
  • The hosts also consider the limitations and potential downsides of each superhero's powers, from the Hulk's temperament issues to Superman's need to moderate his strength during play.
  • Speculation about using non-physical powers, such as telekinesis, introduces a creative twist on how the game could be influenced beyond traditional physical abilities.
  • The discussion concludes with a consensus around Mr. Fantastic's unique suitability for the role of an NFL kicker, while inviting listeners to contribute their views.

This week Lee and Ray explore the world of sports video game concepts by discussing intriguing teams from the past that could be transformed into video game experiences.

Lee presents a thought-provoking game called "The Swamp Kings," set in the 2000s, featuring the Florida Gators team with Urban Meyer as the head coach, Tim Tebow as the quarterback, and Aaron Hernandez. The game promises a gripping narrative, including appearances by iconic figures like The Rock.

Ray offers two compelling options: the 1985 Chicago Bears, famous for the Super Bowl Shuffle, and the 1980s New York Giants, renowned for Lawrence Taylor's dominance. He also suggests exploring the post-9/11 baseball era or a daring concept titled "The Steroid Era," challenging players to manage their performance-enhancing "juice meter."

The conversation delves into more creative ideas, such as a fighting game featuring the Broad Street Bullies, a Stanley Cup-winning hockey team, with a unique twist involving the Soviet Red Army Team as the final boss.

We start the show chatting about the World Series and our thoughts on how long the MLB season is now in the expanded playoffs era. Lee and Ray toss around the idea of shortening the regular season to get back to playing the most important games of the year while there's still baseball weather.

Turning to football we talk about injuries and the victories and losses of this past week, and Ray gives us another rant about his Giants' shortcomings after a historically bad game against the Jets. We then dive into some tension between media coverage and sports ethics.

Shifting gears towards the Geek part of our discussion, we set the Geek Commandments of Spoilers before we plunge into an intriguing Loki episode that could potentially introduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four to the MCU. Then, Ray gives his full review of Spider-Man 2, which he has already 100%ed and rates a whopping 9.25 out of 10. (VERY high on the Ray Ratings Chart)
