Your “about me” page is not actually about you!

SAVE THIS EPISODE!

I know that sounds weird, but if you have a business people want to find out more about your BUSINESS than about all the details of your personal life story.

Yes, you should still tell people about yourself! They follow you and are going to purchase from your business because they love you and your personality!

But the main focus of your about page is your business and how you can help your customers.

🤔 Do you really need to have a homepage on your website? Can’t it just be your services page? Especially if you’re product-based business?

😯 No! You absolutely need to have a homepage, no matter what your business model is!

Why?

Because your homepage is the place that you showcase your WHY behind your business and your brand. 😍

This is the space where you capture your audience’s attention, intrigue them, and set yourself apart from your competition.

Basically, your homepage is the part of your website that gets people to decide to either: keep looking at the other options that they have available, or stop and purchase from you!

Which is why it is so important that your homepage doesn’t just say what your business is and who you are! Your homepage needs to communicate the passion behind your business and the passion behind everything to do! Essentially, your homepage must communicate your WHY.

So, does the homepage of your website communicate your why?

If you liked this episode, please subscribe and leave a review! (I have a whole series about the different parts of your website coming up!)

015 3 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR WRITING (AND VIDEOS!) SOUNDING LIKE YOU

I have a secret to share with you: your audience loves you just the way you are!

You don’t need to put on a facade when you’re talking to them. You don’t need to be more funny, or more outgoing, or more polished.

Your audience just wants you to be you!

They want to see what your life is really like. (Trust me, everyone LOVES a good behind the scenes!)

And your audience wants to hear YOUR take on (and advice about) your area of expertise.

Here are 3 tips to help you sound like yourself ALL the time rather than someone else. (Because we all know how easy it is to put on a “formal” voice or “video voice” when you speak to or write to your audience.)

1.If you sit down to write a social media post or blog post, actually say the words out loud while you write them so you can hear how they sound.
2.When you record a video, use the front camera on your phone so you can see yourself. Then, just talk to yourself in the camera like you’re talking to a friend 😂
3.If you are having a hard time being spontaneous on insta stories, then use a filter! Pick one that makes you smile, maybe even one that is a little silly. Make yourself laugh, and you will be able to be spontaneous for your audience!

Marketing super power quiz!

You know those lovely emails you get every day for three or five days after you first sign up to someone’s email sequence? The emails that let you get to know the person or business you just downloaded a free gift from? They are informative, full of personality, fun, actually enjoyable to read, and subconsciously lead you to really want the offer that they offer at the end of the email sequence. (I know, I know, there ARE a lot of spammy sequences that never end! But we all hate those, unsubscribe from them, and don’t want such annoyance to be associated with our businesses!)

Well, how does your email sequence look? Do you even have a planned sequence of emails, like a welcome sequence, that you send out to new subscribers once they opt-in to a certain free offer? Is each email tailored to and related to the free-offer that your subscriber opted into?

Or is your email sequence rather a disjointed hodgepodge of emails that you’ve just strung together but don’t actually seem to lead your reader from one email to the next (and they certainly don’t lead your audience towards the offer you want to offer them!)?

Well, guess what?! I have 5 sneaky little email sequence hacks that will make your email sequence interesting, effective, AND easy to create!

1.Start off with a story.

Stories grab people’s attention. And stories are memorable.

2.Make sure that each email provides your reader with a little win.

Each micro win will get your reader to open the next email, and the next, till finally they are ready to purchase from you at the end of your email sequence! They are desperate for the next step - a bigger win! Which is what you sell.

3.Don’t over complicate things - stick to one win per email!

Remember, short and sweet! Clear and concise! And fun!

4.Make sure that you always have a call to action in the conclusion.

5.Read the email out loud (or type as you talk out loud!) to make sure that the email sounds like you!

You want each message to be full of your personality! Are you fun and bubbly? Sweet? Sassy? Make sure YOU come through! Because your audience is opting in to you. There is someone else out there that can provide them with what you do, but they love your offer because you are the one offering it!

P.S. To get even more goodness to help you create an intriguing and successful sales funnel, make sure you are on my Copy Club waitlist! When the doors open again you can get in and grab your sales funnel templates. AND in the meantime I will drop weekly tips and tricks into your inbox to help you up level your marketing game!

Busy schedules. Constantly running around. That feeling that your brain is a computer browser with far too many tabs open... Running a business with kids can be exhausting! And it can make you feel like your time is never your own - like your kids and your business own you.

Which, your kids kind of do until they’re 18, and then even after that I hear they own a huge part of your heart still 😉 But your business doesn’t have to own you! Your business should be working FOR you and MAKING YOUR LIFE EASIER!

Is your business really making your life easier, though? Is it actually bringing freedom and peace and ease into your life? Or is it running your life? Driving you into exhaustion and anxiety because you feel like you can stay on top of everything?

Oh, girl, I feel you! Because I’ve been there too.

Most entrepreneurs, and especially us mums who are entrepreneurs, are constantly giving and giving and giving to the point where we will sacrifice ourselves even for our businesses. And yes, building a business does take work, and perseverance, and effort. But it shouldn’t consume us!

Still, it can feel like there is no way around the ridiculously late nights and the no sleep. The overwhelm and the busyness can actually somehow make us feel more virtuous - like we are better than that woman over there because we are doing SO much more.

But deep down inside we know we don’t want that constant sensation that we are drowning in a deep black sea of endless to-dos. We want to see our efforts make a difference in our business! And we want it all to just not be so hard.

I’ve stood in your shoes, Beautiful. I know how you feel. I used to write incredible copy for all my clients, every month, without any babysitting. I would work away after the kids went to bed till 1 or 2 in the morning (even though I’m not naturally a night owl!) and then wake up again at 6 with my youngest. And sometimes he woke up in the night too.

And I learned along the way how to at least simplify my own marketing so that I could just focus my time on my clients. Three of the ways that I learned to create a little more freedom in my business and really start living my best life are......are you ready?!

  1. Prioritize!

List your tasks from the most important ones that are going to move the needle the most in your business and down. Then only focus on the top 3 tasks a day. (And if you complete those top 3 tasks in the morning and still have time to do more, you rock! Start on the next 3!)

  1. Automations!

It takes a few extra hours upfront to set up all of the automations in your business (think: a welcome email sequence that is automatically sent out when ever someone downloads a freebie). But then you can sit back and relax and not worry about making sure everyone gets their freebie delivered to them as soon as they download. And you won’t have to worry that you have let new subscribers slip through the cracks without receiving a lovely nurturing sequence first.

  1. Batch create!

Batching your marketing content: social media captions, blogposts or podcasts, and newsletters!

I know, I know - it takes SO much time to batch your marketing content. In fact, that was why I didn’t do it for a long time myself. I just literally didn’t have enough time to write more than one Instagram caption or one set of podcast notes at a time. So I didn’t! And I kept spending an hour a day minimum just on my own marketing content creation. It was exhausting! And the I finally just dive into batching. Literally, I cleared an entire week and all I did during nap times and early in the morning was batch my content. And it made the rest of the month so much easier! (And then I developed the Copy Club where I do all the batching for you so you can experience the ease of batched content without having to put in all the hours and hours of prep work yourself.)

All that to say batching your content is worth it!!!!!!!! And if you can’t batch it all at once, don’t let that stop you. Each day when you sit down to create an Instagram caption, create two! Soon you will have an entire month of Instagram captions batched. (And then you can take one week a month to continue to batch and catch up.)

So there you have it! Three simple tips to help you bring EASE into your business and your life! 1. Prioritize 2. Automate! And 3. Batch create.

Which one do you think you will try today? JUST DO IT! And then post a success photo on your Instagram stories and tag me @thehannahchambers so I can celebrate with you!

P.S. If you would like to have me batch your content for you so that you can have hours of extra time freed up each week, then get on The Copy Club waitlist right here:

You see a fabulous add on Instagram full of sparkle, perfect lighting, happily laughing and beautiful people. The caption asks you if you want to master adds so you can grow your business in your sleep. Of course you do! So you click through and land on a beautiful landing page that has the same color scheme and is full of succinct information. It is perfectly to the point and let’s you grab your free gift right away!

Landing pages are the second step inside of a sales funnel (the first step is the social media post or add that intrigues your audience with your free offer for them). The third step is the actual download of the free gift you provide for them. (But you do have to create the free gift first, which is why we covered a hack to create magnetic lead magnets in the last episode)

Landing pages have to be intriguing, informative, and definitely not boring! Because your audience won’t give you the chance to even tell them about your amazing products via the rest of your sales funnel unless they want what you are offering enough to hand over their email addresses.

Do you feel a little lost when it comes to creating this kind of intriguing landing page? Is the pressure just a little too much? How do you start? What info should it contain? How long should it be? How short?

Well, here is your sneaky little hack! Keep your landing page only as long as your computer screen. Don’t make your audience scroll.

Stick to 5 bullet points that show off the value of your free offer. (Our brains love the look of odd numbered lists!)

And make sure your call-to-action button that lets your audience opt-in to your free gift is above the bottom of the screen. Remember, you don’t want your viewer to have to scroll!

Why? Because the part of our brain that researchers actually call our “Monkey Brain” is REALLY easy to distract. You hear a ding in the distance? Your brain is going to instantly switch gears from the fascinating landing page it is reading and wonder who texted you. Our monkey brains want new. Exciting! Interesting! Lights! Sparkles!

And guess what? Our monkey brain controls over 80% of all our decisions! (You know when you’ve just felt that a decision was right in your gut? That was really your monkey brain working subconsciously!) This means that our monkey brains are running the show behind the scenes pretty much ALL the time. Even when we are reading a landing page. If something gets our monkey brain’s attention, that part of our brain will take off and leave our more rational parts in the dust.

That’s right. When our monkey brain yells “shiny new fun over here!” all our brain power is directed away from the task at hand. Which is why we want our landing pages to be intriguing but succinct. (One time when you will want a longer landing page is when it is actually a sales page for your big offer, and then you will need to pack in all the details!)

So, is your current opt-in page intriguing AND succinct? Or does it maybe need a refresh? Just remember: keep your opt-in landing page only as long as your computer screen! Short and sweet. That is the ticket.

P.S. Make sure that you save this episode to reference later when you make your next lead magnate opt-in page! And if you are listening to this in realtime (or at least the week it was recorded!), and you would like opt-in landing page templates….then get that and more in my monthly membership, The Copy Club!

Are you wondering how to create a lead magnate that is truly magnetic? One that will actually draw people away from your social media accounts and onto your email list?

I have a little hack to help you: listen! Which of your posts are the most popular? Which get the most comments? One of those posts might make a great lead magnate if you expand it a little. For example, did you create a “3 top secrets” post that did amazingly? Then expand it and turn it into a lead magnate!

Or do you get a lot of the same kind of question? Turn the answer into a cheat sheet or a checklist and voila, you have your lead magnate (one that your audience will actually want!).

There are three different types of lead magnates that do especially well: checklists, printables, and cheat sheets.

Checklists

These types of lead magnates are exactly what they sound like: lists that your audience can go through to help them have a win and then check off each step along the way! When you create a checklist lead magnate, you do definitely want to make sure that each item on the checklist leads naturally to the next. And you want to make sure that each step on the checklist leads to one win at the end of the checklist!

Printables

A printable is a pretty sheet that your audience can download and print out that will either remind them of some steps that they can take, or that contains some secret tips or tricks. A printable can also be a pretty quote or picture, if that relates to your business.

Cheat Sheets

A cheat sheet is a printable of sorts that gives your audience a few secrets to achieve their desired win! It doesn’t have to be fancy, though a pretty boarder is always nice!

And of course, always listen to your audience after you create a lead magnate too. Is it doing well? Perfect! Are you not getting as many opt-ins as you wanted? First try changing the wording you use to advertise the lead magnate in your bio and posts. After you try different wording, and you still don’t get the results that you want, then you will know that it is time to create and try a different lead magnate.

So, what do you think you will create for your next lead magnate? Tag me on Instagram when you post about it! I would love to download it myself and share it for you too! And save this episode to help you out later when you need to create another lead magnate!

When we create any kind of content for our websites, or our social media accounts, we want to be HEARD! We want to be able to help people - teach them little secrets that will make their lives easier! We want to bless them! But we can only do that if people will listen to us, right?

Do you want to know the secret to being listened to? The secret to being able to make a difference (and even change the world?!)?

LISTEN! That’s right. WE need to listen to those around us. What’s going on right now? What is our audience saying on their own social media accounts? What do they need? What do they want? What are they talking about?

Think about it this way: if we are ALWAYS the one talking when we’re out with friends, our friends won’t end up wanting to hang out with us anymore. Our friends want to be listened to and empathized with - they need to feel understood! And then they’ll be more than happy to listen to us, empathize with us, and understand US!

Everyone needs to be listened to. Everyone needs to be understood. Think about it. When we are dating, who do we end up falling in love with? At their essence, we fall in love with someone who is truthful, good, kind, fun, funny, and UNDERSTANDING. I mean, when a guy really listens to us, and lets us know through active listening that he truly hears us - isn’t that the sexiest thing ever?!

So, how can we truly, actively listen to our audiences (or anyone!) online? After all, it’s not as if we are in a face-to-face discussion where we can use body language or ask for clarification. So how can we truly listen and make our audiences feel heard and understood? Here are 5 tips to help:

  1. Click over to your audience’s profiles and spend some time reading their posts.

This will help you get a sense of how they are feeling, what they are thinking, and how you might be able to help them.

  1. Watch your audience’s stories!

People are usually more real and casual in their stories than in their instagram (or facebook!) feeds. They will get a little more personal. Or at least share something that shows where their thoughts are. Plus, you can pop into their DMs easily when you want to comment “good job!” or “how exciting!” on one of the stories.

  1. Post it!

Actually just ask them how they are doing in one of your posts!

  1. DMs!

DM your audience members that have already DMed you over one of your own stories or with a question and just ask them how they are doing!

  1. Your posts!

Which posts are getting the most comments, shares, and saves? These are the ones that are resonating with your audience! These are the kinds of posts they are wanting from you right now.

So, how are you going to actively listen online today? There are a lot of important things to listen to right now, including our own audiences - they are always important!

It’s all about accountability! So just exactly which ways you are going to actively listen on social media today? Pop over to your audience’s profiles? Engage in their stories? Ask your audience in a post? DM them with some encouragement and love? Observe what posts your audience is loving? And please leave a review below if you loved this episode!

You’re either trying to sell a product on social media or posting pictures of your kids - no in between! You want your brand to be consistent and appealing, not jumping all over the place and turning your audience away because they just don’t get you and your business.

How to fix this: start with the end goal in mind, then create the post around that goal. Do you want your audience to comment on or save an Instagram post? Then create a teaching post or share a meaningful quote that will resonate with your audience, or even just strike up a conversation with an introduction post or a “how are you doing/feeling about this” post. Do you want your audience to click through to your website or download a free gift you have? Then definitely teach them a trick to help them have a win in your area of business!

Imagine your most perfect vacation. Maybe you were on a beach somewhere. Your kids were still sound asleep at 9am because they were exhausted from running through the surf and playing under the sun all day long. The lapping waves gently soothed your soul as you sipped your morning cup of coffee alone, without any little voices begging for breakfast or spilling your mug all over you as they tried to climb into your lap. A half hour later you were awake and refreshed enough to be excited to wake your kids up - you couldn’t wait to go hiking with them and check out a brand new restaurant for dinner that had the biggest indoor fish tank! You felt full of ease. Calm. Joy. There was no struggling with your marketing just to see the same low results. No overwhelm! Just ease. Peace. And growth.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a magic potion that let us just live like this always?! I agree! But there isn’t a magic potion. However, there are some strategies and hacks that you can use that are just as good as a magic potion!

Here are 3 of my top tips to help you make your marketing more effective (and easier)!

  1. Start with the end goal in mind!

Do you want to grow your email list, make a sale, or just build connections and relationships (you should be doing all 3 of these in various forms every single month!)? Start with that call to action first - what you want your audience to receive from you AND what action you want them to take. For example, do you want to teach your audience something that will help them have a small win over on Instagram and then tell them you have a wonderful free gift for them - they just have to click the link in the profile and you will send it to them. (This type of call to action will, of course, help you grow your email list!)

A side note - you always, always, always want to have a call to action! Even if that is just, on Instagram or FB, to save or share a post or even leave a comment. Remember, the more your audience actually engages with you, the more they will develop a relationship with you. And now more than ever before it is relationships that grow a business and drive sales. Everyone has SO many options - you have to help them remember who you are and what you can do for them before they will purchase from you.

This tip will help you market more effectively, and will also make content creation MUCH easier! It is much easier to create a blog post or insta post if you already know how it is going to end. Working backwards is much easier than coming up with a brand new idea that you hope will lead somewhere.

  1. Remember that you shouldn’t always sell!

Again, it is relationships that drive traffic, build a business, create brand loyalty, and lead to sales! So you don’t always need to be talking about a product or teach a useful tip (though you want to teach and give value a lot!). Especially on social media. You can just encourage sometimes. Ask your audience how they are doing. Not only does this encourage comments which helps you beat the algorithm and boosts your post reach, but it goes a long way in building a personal relationship with your audience.

So, if you are stuck and just can’t think of something to teach or share today, just ask your audience how they are doing or give an encouraging quote even! Share some other people’s posts in your stories. Spread the love! (Just make sure what you share will actually be interesting to and add value to your audience!) (And still make sure that most of the time you are sharing a tip or bringing value to your audience.)

  1. Batch your content!

I know, I know - you hear this one A LOT! But that is because it is so true. I know how you feel about batching your content though. You already can barely get one days worth of content created, even if that is just a little insta post. How can you get a whole weeks or months worth? Well, sometimes you just have to hire a babysitter and just sit down and do it! Of course, if you can’t hire a babysitter, you can always wake up an hour early (I know - so hard!) or stay up an hour later and create one extra piece of content a day. It’s hard to get a month ahead like this, but you could get a few days ahead at a time. Try to maybe create all the Instagram posts for the coming week over the weekend. That way during the actual work week your marketing will in a sense be automated, and you can focus more on the nitty gritty bits of your business.

This is what I do inside of my Copy Club for all of my beautiful members. Each month, I batch fill-in-the-blank, done-for-you Instagram posts, blog posts/podcast notes, and newsletters so that they can just plug in a few words and then forget about their marketing!

You can do it Beautiful! I KNOW you can!!! I promise you.

XoXo,

Hannah 💖

Ugh! It can be so hard to constantly create more and more new content. Unless you are a copy writer or content creator like me where content is your life and your business, you just don’t have the time to create new content every day. You have other parts of your business you need to work on such as creating new products or working 1-on-1 with clients. You need to HACK your content creation!

Which is exactly what I am going to share with you today.

My #1 content marketing hack?

Re-use your content!

And I don’t just mean repost old blog posts or social media posts. Nope. Nada. In fact, you should only do that occasionally, and with at least the first large chunk refreshed otherwise the search engines will punish you!

I’m talking about repurposing your instagram content as blog posts and newsletters, and vice versa. ALSO basing a newsletter on your blog or podcast.

Bonus hack: join my new membership where I will provide you with a new in-depth masterclass each month along with 20 done-for-you, fill-in-the-blank Instagram captions AND 4 fill-in-the-blank blogpost/podcast outlines AND 4 fill-in-the-blank newsletter outlines. This means that you will have to spend less than 5 minutes a day to create all your content, every day, every month! You could batch the entire month’s content in just around an hour! Are you ready to dig deep into your visual identity? Then this episode is for you!

In this special episode I bring to you fun, encouraging, and informative interview I had with the beautiful and talented Rachel Reiter of Hopscotch Branding Studio. She creates bespoke brands for passionate and heart-driven entrepreneurs.

Let’s get into it!

It’s time to encourage your audience to think and feel a certain way about your offer. To begin, ask yourself:

What do you want them to feel?

What keywords would you like to be associated with your brand?

Then, research other brands you think you want your brand to feel like.

Nobody wants to buy from a Debbie Downer - that “woe is me” person on social media that is always posting about their problems and how they are struggling to make sales or aren’t hitting their goals. No one wants to buy from someone who is coming from a place of desperation. Because you can always tell when someone is motivated by fear in their business and is begging for a sale. And that just feels icky! We run from that person on FB or Instagram!

Instead, we need to always come from a place of service - a place of always GENUINELY caring about our customers! We REALLY want what is best for them, even if that isn’t our most expensive product. Or even if it is just our free content for the moment like our podcast or our Instagram posts.

It can be hard to develop and keep this energy at any time, not just during a global pandemic. But a global pandemic like this covid-19 makes it especially easy to fall into communicating from a place of fear rather than a place of service and love.

Don’t worry, though! You CAN change your perspective and mindset so that you can communicate from a place of love rather than fear. (And of course, so that you can make sales!)

  1. Recharge yourself!

Unplug if you can.
Have a movie afternoon.
Spend a whole afternoon outside.
LAUGH!!!
Build this into each week (and even a little into each day!)!

  1. Remove negativity.

You don’t have to burry your head in the sand, but you can still avoid all inessential negativity.

  1. Ask yourself every day how you can BEST serve your audience and your customers.

This gets your mind in the right place. It gets you focused on your audience and what they need from you. What you can give to them.
A part of this is also to listen to podcasts (like this one!), IGTVs, FB lives, etc. that encourage you and give you the tools to truly serve your community and clients.

  1. Start from a place of service and giving
  2. Encourage
  3. Empathize
  4. Ask your audience how they are doing
  5. Don’t be afraid to talk about your business and your mission - after all, your audience follows you because they love your personality and WHAT YOU DO (as well as why you do it!) And, you need to make it through this crisis yourself - you need your business to survive so that you can continue to support (or help support) your family!
  6. But don’t go on business as usual just ignoring the crisis - a global crisis affects us all and should affect our business communication. How?
  7. Create free offers and core content that supports those affected by the crisis. (My podcast as an example. Accounts that have free resources for moms entertaining all their kids at home all the time.)
  8. Consider creating a special offer or package, or offering a discount or special bonus, that will REALLY help your audience at this time. Something that they need more than anything else right now. (If you are a professional organizer, maybe do a mini-launch for one of your organizing courses and put it at a special price. Make sure the course is geared towards organizing a playroom, or creating a sane workspace in the midst of your kid’s space.) (
  9. Then when you do talk about your business, make sure you only talk about the product or service that will really help your audience at this time.
