The boys are back in town! We have returned from the 2024 American Black Film Festival (1:17) and have a ton to report on, from the films and panels to the music performances and red carpet. Also, the latest film from Pixar has arrived with "Inside Out 2" (25:58), can this movie bring Pixar back to life? On the TV side, two of our major shows are back on the airwaves, "The Boys" (45:18) season 4 with the first three episodes, and the season 2 premiere of "House of the Dragon" (1:55:56).

The Bad Boys, Will Smith, and Martin Lawrence are back with another entry into the franchise "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" (1:22), how does it hold up against the others? Ishana Night Shyamalan (the daughter of M.) has made her directorial debut with "The Watchers" (20:51) and Glen Powell and Richard Linklater team up in the new movie on Netflix "Hit Man" (30:08). Also last week we got the first 2 episodes of "The Acolyte" (43:59). Did Star Wars finally give us a good show? Or is it mid like some of their other attempts?

In anticipation of the release of "Deadpool & Wolverine" later this summer, we’ll be revisiting 16 Marvel movies released by 20th Century Fox, from the original X-Men trilogy to the most recent Deadpool films, unpacking moments of an era that helped shape modern comic book cinema. In this first episode of the series, we discuss the original X-Men Trilogy, it's significance, our personal experience with the films, and of course some of our favorite moments of the movies.
After the opening dicussion about our relationship with the trilogy, we kick things off with 2000's 'X-Men' (31:15) to recap its significance in the context of modern day superhero films. We then transition to 'X2: X-Men United' (1:09:43), which was widely regarded as one of the greatest comic book films of all time when it was released. After that, we wrap up the discussion with the disappointing conclusion of 'X-Men: The Last Stand' (1:58:36)

The first season of X-Men '97 has concluded and there's a ton to discuss. We review both the penultimate episode and the finale, along with our thoughts on the season. But first we start this episode with some news about Marvel and their upcoming release dates and projects.
Happy belated Star Wars Day! May the 4th was this past weekend and Disney+ released a follow-up to "Tales of the Jedi" with "Tales of the Empire"(17:19). Also Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt star in "The Fall Guy" (1:28), the action/rom-com film about stunts in Hollywood. Jordan also checked out the new take on "The Talented Mr. Ripley" with "Ripley" (27:07) on Netflix. Also in this episode, we do our 2024 Summer Box Office Predictions (37:33), ordering our top 5 movies that will make the most money this summer and an exercise guessing the over and under of the summer blockbusters.

"Tolerance is Extinction Part 1" begins a 3-part finale for season 1 of X-Men '97. This episode has a ton of exposition and surprises, so there's a lot to discuss.
"Challengers" (1:36), the new sports drama film starring Zendaya about tennis, love triangles, and power dynamics hit theaters this past weekend. We also discuss a couple of limited series to potentially look out for during award season with the Japanese War Epic, "Shōgun" (19:25), and the dark comedy from Richard Gadd, "Baby Reindeer" (34:12). In this episode, we also conduct our second annual 2024 Summer Movie Draft (46:20), where we each pick movies of the summer that we think will be critically successful on letterboxd.

X-Men '97 is here!! Continuing from the 90s animated cartoon we now have our first couple episodes of "X-Men '97" with a new look, some new animation, and some new characters. "Kung Fu Panda 4" (1:32) the latest from one of Dreamworks' trusted franchises has hit theaters this past weekend. The wait is finally over! Denis Villeneuve is back with "Dune: Part Two" (2:18), one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Is it the science fiction epic we hoped it would be? Also in this episode we review "Avatar: The Last Airbender" (1:02:17) the new live action adaptation of the beloved cartoon from Netflix. Also the time has come and the Academy Awards (1:31:47) is this Sunday so it's time to give our final predictions!
The latest project from Donald Glover has hit the airways with a new TV show reimagining of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" (1:28). Vince Staples has also come out with his own TV show, a comedy on Netflix, "The Vince Staples Show" (15:55). Also "True Detective" (24:39) is back after almost 5 years with a new season starring Jodie Foster titled "Night Country". In the movie space Desmund got the chance to check out the latest from ufotable with "Demon Slayer: Hashira in Training" (39:18). A new Coen brothers movie has released in theaters, but this time with only one half of the duo, Ethan Coen in "Drive-Away Dolls" (47:53). Lastly, Tyler Perry's new film starring Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes has released on Netflix titled "Mea Culpa" (59:50). We also talk about the SAG Awards (1:09:20) that premiered live exclusively on Netflix this past weekend, with some surprises.

Happy 2024! Award season has just kicked off with the 2024 Golden Globe Awards (1:37). This year the voting process has changed as the voting committee has now expanded to more people, but did that change anything about the show? Also over the break there were a decent amount of movie releases. We take the time to talk about the heavily anticipated, "The Color Purple" (56:53), the biopic about the cursed Von Erich family in "The Iron Claw" (1:13:11), Bradley Cooper's second time in the director's chair with "Maestro" (1:32:16), and the French film getting a ton of buzz with "Anatomy of a Fall" (1:46:47).

We finally have a verdict about the Jonathan Majors trial (1:31) and he has been found guilty on 2 of 4 accounts with assault and harassment. With reality setting in, what does this mean for the future of the MCU? But looking beyond that, what could this mean for the future of Jonathan Majors? This past weekend Timothée Chalamet has taken a crack at the beloved and eccentric character in "Wonka" (30:23). We also got a rare sighting at the talented Jeffrey Wright as the lead in a film with "American Fiction"(46:35).
As the year comes to an end we take the time to acknowledge what a journey this year has been and we talking about the biggest Hollywood winners and losers of 2023, from directors, to franchises.

What an interesting couples days it has been for Marvel. Not only did the penultimate episode of Loki season 2 drop, but an article from Variety about the 'Crisis at Marvel' (1:34) released online this week. In this episode we spend a good amount of time discussing the article and the new things we may have learned about Marvel in their current situation regarding Jonathan Majors, The Marvels, Blade, and The Avengers. We then go on to do our normal weekly review of Loki with episode 5 titled "Science/Fiction". First giving our spoiler free thoughts (49:07), then onto our breakdown (53:03) of the episode.
Multiverse Saga is that you? This weeks episode of Loki titled "Heart of the TVA" is a seemingly super important episode that could have a long lasting effect on the greater MCU, but we'll have to see if even that's true first. The heavily anticipated PS5 game "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" (1:42) is finally out! Neither of us have beat the game yet so we take time to give an overview and some spoiler free thoughts that includes gameplay, the expansion of the map, some story touchpoints involving well known characters and how much the game has sold.
Also in this episode we take the time to interview the creator of Blacktooth Publishing (1:11:30), Omari Malik about his company and how he came to love and create comic books on his own.

With a list of over 40 movies (ranging from May to Labor Day) we go one by one and draft 10 movies that we think are going to be the best this summer. We are basing the competition and rating scale for each movie off of the total and combined letterboxd movie scores from users. Happy December Family! We have another jam packed episode for you this week with a ton of things to review. First we review the latest from James Gunn and Marvel Studios, with their second installment of Marvel Studios' Special Presentations "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special" (1:35). In the world of movies, we review and discuss the heavily anticipated "Knives Out" sequel starring Daniel Craig and a star studded cast with "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" (36:19). We also got the chance to check out one of Netflix's latest films starring Florence Pugh, "The Wonder" (48:52), "Bones and All" (58:27) starring Taylor Russell and Timothee Chalamet, the latest Disney film "Strange World" (1:07:01), and the new war fight pilot film starring Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell, "Devotion" (1:25:58). We also do a wrap up of Andor (1:34:18) Episodes 10-12 and give our final thoughts on the season. Also, one of the most talked about and heavily anticipated games came out recently and we both got the chance to play and beat "God of War Ragnarök," the sequel to the beloved and award winning 2018 game, and we had to give our thoughts on if it lived up to expectations (2:24:57).

After dropping our comprehensive review of 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', we hosted another 2 Black Nerds Twitter Spaces to have a spoiler-filled conversation about the movie with listeners and friends of the podcast. It's finally here! The heavily anticipated 30th feature film from Marvel Studios has arrived with "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever". It's been an emotional wait for this film but now that it has hit theaters it's time to get down to the nitty gritty and discuss any and all things surrounding this movie. We start off discussing the success and impact of the original "Black Panther" and how it came to be (2:04). We then talk about he hardship that this movie had to go through from the death of Chadwick Boseman, to the rewriting of the story, to the big question of if T'Challa should be recast, as well as the opening weekends box office numbers. As per usual we go into our nom-spoiler big picture thoughts on the film (25:57), and then make our way into the spoiler filled parts of the movie following our character by character breakdowns (43:10). "Blonde" (39:38) is a new movie on Netflix that highlights the life of Marilyn Monroe. Based on the book of same name and starring Ana De Armas, we discuss if the 2 hour and 47 minute runtime is worth it. This has been a great year for horror and this past weekend, a new movie from Paramount "Smile" (54:59) has hit theaters seeking to become part of the fray. On the TV side of things, a new Jeffrey Dahmer series titled "Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" (1:07:52) which is the longest title ever.... has released on Netflix from horror writer Ryan Murphy starring Evan Peters (Murphy's long time collaborator) and Niecey Nash. And of course we talk about this week's episode of "House of the Dragon" (1:30:51) titled "Driftmark" following an intense family reunion during Laena's funeral.

It's been a decent beginning for August when it comes to movies and we have a bunch to talk about. We first discuss the new Blockbuster action film starring Brad Pitt and an ensemble cast with "Bullet Train" (1:34) and move into our review of the latest film in the "Predator" franchise, the new prequel that premiered on Hulu "Prey" (19:36). There is so much to talk about this week that everything couldn't even fit into the title lol. First and foremost, Queen Bey is back!!! It's been 6 years since Beyoncé has come out with a solo studio album, and this weekend she released her seventh studio album "Renaissance" (1:38). We got the chance to catch up on quite a bit in the movie and TV worlds as well over the week. In the movie world we got a chance to checkout "DC League of Super-Pets" (19:05), the latest animated family adventure featuring the pets of our favorite DC superheroes, "Green Lantern: Beware My Power" (33:47) a new DC animated film starring John Stewart's Green Lantern, and "The Bob's Burgers Movie" (41:42), the feature film based off the tv show with the same name. So, a lot of animation. In the TV world, we have some premieres. The first 3 episodes of "Harley Quinn" (48:15) season 3 are now on HBO Max! After a 2 year hiatus due to the pandemic, it's time for some more Harley and Ivy shenanigans. Also a brand new show from Issa Rae, "Rap Sh!t" (55:46) premiered last week on HBO. Only the first 3 episode of the series are out so far, but what kind of tone does it set for the show? We also got the chance to checkout a couple of documentaries including "Milestone Generations"(1:05:31), about the making and ongoing legacy of Milestone comics, and "Light & Magic" (1:13:41), a docuseries about the history of the special and visual effects division of Lucasfilm. We also do a brief rundown of one of the biggest wrestling events of the year, WWE's "SummerSlam" (1:22:23).

Happy San Diego Comic-Con weekend nerds!!! The biggest comic convention in the world is here, and both Marvel and DC have graced Hall H this weekend to show and tell us a bit about what's coming up. Marvel Studios' panel dropped so many bombs with the unveiling of both Phase Five and Phase Six, so we had to have an emergency podcast to talk about everything we've just seen. With ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ now complete, we’ve compiled all of our previous reviews of the Star Wars event series into a single episode. In the series premiere, we pick up ten years after the events of Order 66 with a surprisingly emotional opening chapter (16:27). Part II takes us to a new planet, Daiyu, in an episode that largely focuses on a rescue mission of an unexpected character (42:02). In Part III, Darth Vader comes face-to-face with his former Jedi Master in a rematch that ultimately left us wanting more (51:47). In perhaps the most disappointing installment of the series, Part IV shifts the focus back to another rescue mission without progressing the story forward in a meaningful way (1:14:16). The penultimate chapter presents us with many action set pieces, but further complicates the motivations of one of the central antagonists (1:40:02). The finale manages to live up to the hype as it pertains to the matchup between Obi-Wan and Vader, but unfortunately isn’t able to elevate the series above its many storytelling flaws (2:23:55). Lastly, we conclude with our overall thoughts and reflections about the limited series’ place in the Star Wars universe (3:08:43).
This week's episode of 'Ms. Marvel' (11:54) is titled 'Seeing Red' and follows Kamala and her mother Muneeba as they visit the heavily populated Pakistan city, Karachi. As Kamala seeks answers from her grandmother Sana, she's still on the run from the Clandestines and the DODC. But before we breakdown this week's episode, we first had to discuss some news dealing with Howard Stern inadvertently leaking information that he's working with Marvel on a project involving Dr. Doom (1:16).

The week has arrived! Marvel's next film 'DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS' comes out this week and we couldn't be more excited. Marvel has expanded the scope of its universe tremendousl, and with information of the movie's many unconfirmed cameos we decided to draft the Marvel characters we thought might show up in the film. From Marvel Legacy characters like Patrick Stewart's Professor X, to current MCU characters like Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter, we take the time to pick two characters from each category who may appear in the film. We also choose one character from the wild card pool where people like Tom Cruise and Terrance Howard could potentially show up. With movies like this we never know who we'll get to appear in the film, but we can do our best to guess.

'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' is on the horizon so we've compiled all of our previous reviews of Marvel Studios' animated adventure across the multiverse, 'What If...?' Now you can revisit our craziest theories, predictions and recaps of the Disney+ original series, as it will surely play a pivotal role in the upcoming Doctor Strange film. Spoilers Ahead: In the premiere, Captain Carter becomes the First Avenger instead of Steve Rogers, but did we think it was a strong opening to the series? (2:11). Episode 2 brings significant entertainment value as a young T'Challa is abducted from Wakanda and becomes the famous intergalactic mercenary, "Star-Lord" (23:52). As the series grows darker, the Avengers are mysteriously killed one-by-one while Nick Fury is attempting to recruit the Earth's Mightiest Heroes (47:10). Next, we travel to the Dark Dimension as Dr. Stephen Strange is consumed by grief and the magic of the Mystic Arts, leading to a genuinely shocking conslusion (1:01:11). In episode 5, chaos ensues as a zombie apocalypse that originated in the Quantum Realm threatens to infect the entire world (1:31:08). In Afghanistan, Erik "Killmonger" Stevens rescues Tony Stark from the Ten Rings, igniting his sinister plan to become the Black Panther (1:58:24). A nice change of pace arrives in the series' most fun episode, as Thor hosts the galaxy's biggest party (2:25:38). The penultimate episode finally prompts the Watcher to interfere as Ultron's devastating conquest wipes out almost all life in the universe (2:57:21). After the events of episode 8, the Guardians of the Multiverse assemble in the season 1 finale to defeat Ultron and take back the Infinity Stones (3:32:28). Finally, we look back and share our thoughts on the series as a whole, and speculate about the future consequences we may see unfold in future films (4:01:43).

What a Sunday night the world had as we all tuned into the 94th Academy Awards (1:30). We spend a good amount of time talking about the slap that was heard across the world involving Will Smith and Chris Rock, the runtime of the show, the hosts, the actual awards themselves, and more about the state and identity of the Academy. We also got the chance to check out a couple films this past week. Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum teamed up for the comedic adventure film 'THE LOST CITY' (1:15:21), and Michelle Yeoh gets her first top billing gig, a new sci-fi action comedy movie distributed by A24, 'EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE' (1:28:55). Also one of our favorite shows is back on TV, so of course we had to discuss the 2 episode season premiere of 'ATLANTA' (1:43:24), as well as share our thoughts on what the show could have in store for the characters.

Happy Spring! Not sure why, but the spring season is bringing out the horror movies. This past weekend, the latest horror film Amazon Prime Video 'MASTER' (1:34) premiered, starring Regina King, a Korean horror film starring Sandra Oh 'UMMA' (18:53) released in theaters this weekend, and the latest slasher film from Ti West and A24 'X' (36:20) also debuted in theaters this weekend. Jordan got the chance to check out some new films from Hulu. 'FRESH' (27:50) a comedy-thriller starring Sebastian Stan and Daisy Edgar-Jones, and 'DEEP WATER' (1:07:17) a psychological thriller starring Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas. 'JUJUTSU KAISEN 0'(55:01) is finally here from studio Mappa, and the heavily anticipated anime film is doing numbers at the box office. Also we're only one week away from the 94th Academy Awards and as usual we discuss our 'OSCAR PREDICTIONS' (1:19:11), as well as some of the shenanigans that the Academy has been up to.

On the TV side of things, the animated anthology 'THE BOYS PRESENTS: DIABOLICAL' (1:22:53) released on Amazon Prime, with all of the shenanigans and fun of 'THE BOYS' in its DNA. 'WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS DYNASTY' (1:31:35) has premiered on HBO Max, the drama miniseries following the rise of the Lakers franchise and the players that made it. Also on Prime Video is 'REACHER' (1:38:12), an action tv show based off the books by Lee Child that Jordan's been watching. There's a new video game on the block that the masses have been raving about, but it's also been the most anticipated game for 2 years. Happy Black History Month! Speaking of, Black History was made this past weekend. For the first time, the Superbowl LVI Halfime Show (1:23) was completely headlined by hip-hop acts. LA took over the stage as Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg paid tribute to the city with the help of Mary J. Blige Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and 50 Cent. There were also of plenty of good Superbowl LVI Trailers (23:53) this year including a new trailer for 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.' We also got the chance to check a couple of movies this week with Kenneth Branagh's 'DEATH ON THE NILE' (1:06:41) and Steven Soderbergh's 'KIMI' (1:23:39).

We also had to take the time to discuss the last 2 episodes of "THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT' (1:26:00). The direction has changed and we need to figure out if it's working or alarming.

Happy New Year and Welcome to season 6 of 2 Black Nerds!!! There's so much to get to in this two-part season premiere. We took a break, but so much has happened since we've been gone so let's get into it. Neo is back again in the latest installment of the Matrix series with 'THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS' (1:40). The heavily anticipated and star-studded film 'DON'T LOOK UP' (20:54) from Netflix has also arrived. Denzel Washington is back in the director's chair with 'A JOURNAL FOR JORDAN' (35:35), which stars Michael B. Jordan and Chanté Adams. 'THE LOST DAUGHTER' (47:03) is another new film from Netflix which is getting some award nods, specifically for the performance of Olivia Colman, so of course we discuss that. Desmund got the chance to check out 'SING 2' (58:25) to see if it lives up to the first, and Jordan checked out 'NIGHTMARE ALLEY' (1:08:05), the latest film for Guillermo Del Toro. It doesn't have any creatures in it?? Over the break we also got the chance to say farewell to one of the most groundbreaking shows not only in the black community but for rom-com, lifestyles shows in Issa Rae's 'INSECURE' (1:18:43). While ending an amazing show, HBO also premiered a new series, the first DCEU television show in fact with 'PEACEMAKER' (1:36:16). The first three episodes dropped, and it's time to see what John Cena and James Gunn have in store for us. Also, Halle Berry's directorial debut just premiered on Netflix titled 'BRUISED' (30:28). It's been 6 years since they concluded the Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich Resident Evil movies, but they're back with a reboot that resembles the video games more as Desmund got a chance to check out 'RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACOON CITY' (42:07). Jordan was also able to check out the new film from director Paul Thomas Anderson, 'LICORICE PIZZA' (55:48). TICK, TICK BOOM (1:01:12). ARCANE (1:13:55) has also hit Netflix. The animated series based off the world and lore of one of the most played video games in the world 'League of Legends and it's good. Anime of the year??? ODDTAXI (1:26:24) has become a sensation in the anime world, a short 13 episode series with mystery and adult themes, a fresh take on the genre. And as always we have plenty of news to talk about including Desmund's attendance of ANIME NYC, the new SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME trailer, and some Video Game news.

This week we're finally reviewing and discussing the final go for Daniel Craig and long awaited Bond film 'NO TIME TO DIE' (1:45). The amazing and talented filmmaker Mike Flanagan is back again with another supposed horror banger with his latest tv show on Netflix 'MIDNIGHT MASS' (25:11). 'WHAT IF...ULTRON WON?' is the latest from the 'WHAT...IF?' (35:41) the penultimate episode that takes things up another notch. The Sopranos has returned with a prequel-esque movie in 'THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK (1:10:35), a film that follows Tony Soprano in his youth but focuses on his greatest influence and uncle Dickie Moltisanti. We got the opportunity to see one of the most jarring and wild movies that we've seen in a while, the winner of the Cannes most prestigious award, 'TITANE'(1:25:11). We also got to check out some streaming service films. Jordan was able to watch Jake Gyllenhaal's latest performance in 'THE GUILTY' from Netflix (1:37:47) and Desmund was able to check out one of the latest from Blumhouse's collection of Prime Video horror film 'BINGO HELL' (1:46:52).

"Do or do not, there is no try" - Yoda. 'STAR WARS VISIONS'(2:08) has finally arrived and it's one of the most creative things we've gotten from the Star Wars franchise in sometime. 'WHAT IF...?'(43:44) Episode 7 titled 'What If...Thor Was An Only Child", a party episode with a ton of cameos has also premiered on Disney Plus. On the other side of streaming, Netflix recently held their 'Tudum Fan Event' (1:15:31), a virtual showcase, where many trailers and first looks of upcoming Netflix shows and movies were shown. It was a quiet week for news but we we still have plenty to talk about. This past weekend was the 2021 Emmys (2:04). Sure there may have been some snubs, including Wandavision but Netflix finally beats the competition for most Emmys won and there were other notable wins to discuss. Episode 6 of 'WHAT IF...?' (29:05) premiered last week titled 'What if...Killmonger rescued Tony Stark?' Was it a good episode? And what happens next? In this week's episode we also do a quick TV round up of some shows we've been watching including 'THE MORNING SHOW' (56:27), 'AMERICAN CRIME STORY' (57:56), 'MONSTERS AT WORK' (59:13), and 'NONA' (1:02:030). Drake's long awaited and anticipated album 'CERTIFIED LOVER BOY' (1:45) is here, and to no surprise it's breaking records. But does it bring anything new to the table? The latest film from the horror legend James Wan has premiered in theaters and on HBO Max with 'MALIGNANT'(34:32), is this possibly the most divisive horror film in the last decade? There was another movie that was released in theaters and HBO Max a couple weeks ago starring Hugh Jackman called 'REMINISCENCE' (53:24) and as always we had to discuss the latest episode of Marvel's 'WHAT IF...?' (1:01:20) titled 'WHAT IF....ZOMBIES?'. We lost a real legend this past week with the passing of Michael K. Williams. Whether it was 'THE WIRE', 'LOVECRAFT COUNTRY', or his activism and love for the community, he always made sure that he touched the people of the black community the best way he knew how. What a week it's been! The 'SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME' (1:54) teaser trailer has finally arrived and it has broken the internet!! We don't usually do trailer breakdowns but how could we not?? 'WHAT IF...?' (39:51) Episode 3 is here and it's titled 'What If...the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?', and what an episode it is! The highly anticipated 'CANDYMAN' (53:56) from Monkeypaw Productions and director Nia DaCosta has hit theaters and it's been a mixed bag for people to say the least, so you know we had a lot to say about it. Another movie from John David Washington hit Netflix a couple weeks ago with 'BECKETT' (1:28:54) a 70s inspired thriller, with maybe not so much to say. And last but not least, cause he wouldn't let you make it the least if he tried, 'DONDA' (1:34:07) is finally here. So much to talk about. Episode 2 of 'WHAT IF....?' ((1:51) has premiered and were all blessed with another performance of the late great Chadwick Boseman as he played T'Challa the Starlord. We were also able to catch a movie this past weekend, a horror/thriller film called 'THE NIGHT HOUSE' (25:14) starring Rebecca Hall. Netflix has begun it's 'UNTOLD' documentary series with 'MALICE IN THE PALACE'(36:18). A retelling of the famous NBA event that included NBA stars Jermaine O'Neal, Metta World Peace (Ron Artest at the time), and Stephen Jackson. Christiana Milian is back acting in her latest movie from Netflix 'RESORT TO LOVE' (49:55) and there's a new anime on the block with 'TOKYO REVENGERS' (57:47). Also this past weekend was a huge weekend for professional wrestling across the board. The return of the legend CM Punk with AEW and one of the largest wrestling events of the year with WWE's Summerslam (1:02:26). And of course we have more news including, the 'STAR WARS: VISIONS' trailer, the latest trailer for 'THE ETERNALS', a brief overview of the first 3 episode of 'SWEET LIFE: LOS ANGELES' and more.
The 4th television show from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has arrived in 'WHAT IF...?' (1:40), in the first episode we explore a timeline where Peggy Carter received the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers. 'FREE GUY' (23:51), one of the films that was in production during Disney's acquisition of Fox has hit theaters. Starring Ryan Reynolds, the movie is filled with elements of video games, comedy, and action. The sequel to the secret and surprise hit 'DON'T BREATHE' (41:45) has hit theaters only and we had to check it out in theaters. Desmund got the chance to catch up on a new tv show from HBO 'THE WHITE LOTUS' (52:29) a limited drama series with an ensemble cast that has the streets talking! Zay Wop is back!!!! After 6 years Isaiah Rashad is back with his 3rd studio album 'THE HOUSE IS BURNING' (2:16) and it's heat!!! We were also able to see the latest from Disney starring Emily Blunt and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in 'JUNGLE CRUISE' (14:24) as well as the latest from A24, David Lowery, and Dev Patel with 'THE GREEN KNIGHT' (30:11). We're sure everyone has heard of the current controversy between Scarlett Johansson and Disney regarding 'BLACK WIDOW' and Disney Plus and you know we had to break it down at least a little.
So much to talk about!!! Desmund got the chance to go to the black anime RDC World made convention DreamCon (2:00), the latest M. Night Shyamlan movie 'OLD' (7:34) has hit theaters, and the latest G.I. Joe Film 'SNAKE EYES' (28:29) has arrived. Jordan and Desmund also got the chance to see the latest and critically acclaimed Nicolas Cage movie 'PIG' (40:57). Desmund also checked out some of the recent Netflix films 'GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE' (53:29) and 'AMERICA: THE MOTION PICTURE' (1:03:18). We also do a quick rundown of television shows that we've either been watching or have returned for new seasons. Also as per usual there's tons of news to talk about including a new Batgirl, a new Batman (voice) and the cancelling of one of our favorite childhood shows in 'ARTHUR'.
It's been 25 years in the making but it's finally here! 'Space Jam: A New Legacy' (1:50) has landed in theaters and HBO Max! Lebron James joins up with the Looney Toons and we got to see what he could (or couldn't) do on the big screen. Also we were able to check out 'Escape Room: Tournament of Champions' (28:22), the sequel to the puzzle thriller starring Taylor Russell. And Netflix tried something new recently releasing 'Fear Street' (41:20), the 3 part horror/slasher film series based on the books from R.L stein.

"You wanna hear how me and this b*tch fell out?" 'ZOLA' (1:57) is finally out as a24's latest film, the greatest social media story ever told, and we finally got a chance to see it! On the HBO side of things, a star studded cast teams up with Steven Soderbergh in his latest film 'NO SUDDEN MOVE' (21:35) and from Amazon we get Chris Pratt's latest action flick in 'THE TOMORROW WAR' (35:10) It's been a while since we've had a TV show round up between the two of us we've watched 'BLINDSPOTTING' (53:13) , 'MONEY HEIST' (1:03:50), 'SCHITT'S CREEK' (1:07:53), 'CASTLEVANIA' (1:16:47), and 'TRESE' (1:24:54). And as always the news for the week includes trailers, new console updates, and much more. Last but not least RIP to the great Richard Donner, one of the most well known names in filmmaking. His influence will never be forgotten as the director of 'THE GOONIES', 'SUPERMAN (1978)', and 'LETHAL WEAPON' he changed the industry, and his legacy will live on.
"The Nexus Event" is the title for episode 4 of Loki and the energy of the episode definitely matches the title. The TVA, B-15, and Mobius are still searching for Loki and Sylvie and tension is getting high. There's a ton to unpack and so much to discuss this episode. It's getting weird and we love it.
This is our biggest episode yet! There's so much to get to it's ridiculous. Speaking of ridiculous we had to talk about one of the most anticipated blockbusters of the year with 'F9' (2:12) the latest installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. We also got the chance to see Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson work together again, this time adding Salma Hayek full time in 'Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard'(38:50). Also Kevin Hart seeks to give us something new from him in his latest Netflix film 'Fatherhood' (51:27). The latest from Pixar has dropped as the seek to give us something for the summer in 'Luca' (1:07:51). DC animation can be hit or miss but has always been regarded as some of the best animated films there are, how does the adaption of 'Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1' (1:24:56) hold up against the others? Outside of movies there was ton to talk about in the music space as well (1:41:53). Some Verzuz have happened recently including Eve vs Trina, and even more entertaining and anticipated Bow Wow vs Soulja Boy. The BET Awards also happened this past Sunday, and many of our favorite artist dropped some albums, namely Tyler, the Creator with 'Call Me If You Get Lost'. The grand annual gaming event E3 took a place a couple of week ago, and after we speak about some quick game reviews, we go through the biggest E3 news followed by our normal movie and trailer news. This is our longest episode yet and we appreciate you for being here with us.

Welcome to part 2 of the season 5 premiere of 2 Black Nerds!!! It's been a couple of weeks since we've done a normal episode and we have some big movies to discuss. Starting with the heavily anticipated sequel from John Krasinski 'A Quiet Place Part 2' (2:37), is it a good follow up to it's praised predecessor? Of course we have to discuss the latest live action film from Disney ,'Cruella' (23:53). Emma Stone and Emma Thompson did what they had to do, but how good is the movie? Although other movies from the universe have released, it's been 4 years since 'The Conjuring' has graced our presence specifically. 'The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It' (45:06) is the next installment of what's already a legendary series, we discuss how it does and doesn't hold up against the others. Last but not least we discuss the drama and musical 'In The Heights' (1:08:44). This musical was something that both of us were excited for. We discuss Lin Manuel Miranda, Anthony Ramos, the music, the culture, and the controversial topic of colorism surrounding the movie. And as always some news discuss. This is 2 Black Nerds season 5.

There were also a couple of streaming service movies that came out that we watched. One being 'Those Who Wish Me Dead' (21:25) from HBO Max, the newest action film starring Angelina Jolie and many other familiar faces, and the other being 'The Woman in the Window' (35:07) a drama/mystery starring Amy Adams from Netflix. Desmund also got the chance to finish some Netflix TV shows. The reality TV show everyone has been talking about 'The Circle' (51:59) and the new black sitcom starring Wanda Sykes and Mike Epps 'The Upshaws' (1:00:18). We couldn't go this week without discussing a big week in music as J. Cole dropped his latest album 'The Off Season' and as Nicki Minaj resurfaces with some new singles and a re-release of her acclaimed mixtape 'Beam Me Up Scotty' (1:09:43)
It's been somewhat of a slower week in the world of pop culture, but there were still somethings that went down that we needed to talk about. A huge Verzuz (2:40) happened this past Sunday as SWV and Xscape met on the stage and went track for track with their amazing discographies, it was a fun night of music. We hosted another 2 Black Nerds Movie Night this past Friday as we watched the movie 'Monster' (21:30), the film that's been swimming around without a home for some years. Also Jordan was able to check out a couple things this week - first being the new Jason Statham film to hit theaters 'Wrath of Man' (37:35) - and second being the new superhero show on the block from Netflix. 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' has concluded so we've compiled all of our previous reviews of every episode from the series. On the March 22nd pod, we kicked things off by recapping the series premiere, 'New World Order', which catches us up with Sam Wilson after he forfeits the mantle of Captain America given to him by Steve Rogers (2:14). In 'The Star-Spangled Man', we're properly introduced to John Walker as the new Captain America, and learn about Isaiah Bradley, a veteran super soldier who fought the Winter Soldier in the Korean War (44:51). Then, we discuss the return of characters like Baron Zemo and Sharon Carter as the team travels to the criminal sanctuary city, Madripoor, in 'Power Broker' (1:25:24). 'The Whole World Is Watching' puts Sam, Bucky, and others on a dangerous collision course with the Flash Smashers and members of Wakanda's Dora Milaje, causing us to analyze every character's personal motivation (1:52:10). What a week!!!! There's so much for us to talk about. From the 93rd Academy Awards (2:38) taking place and the shenanigans they brought to the table, to the finale of the show we've been covering every week, 'FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER' (1:08:41), there was a lot going on. Not to mention the somewhat anticipated movie adaption of the popular video game 'MORTAL KOMBAT‘ (46:57), and the now highest grossing anime movie of all time 'DEMON SLAYER: MUGEN TRAIN' (1:00:17). Both hit theaters and are doing great. We also discuss the passing of Shock G (2:40:18), the legendary rapper and the mastermind of Digital Underground who brought us 'The Humpty Dance' and the career of Tupac.

We lost a legend this past weekend. One of the most profitable and prolific artists to ever touch the music scene, DMX, left us. Though we spoke about him last week we had to pay our respects in full as we seek to recount and remember what the icon meant to us. You also know each and every week we have to discuss the latest episode of 'FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER' (50:30) as well as some new trailers and movie news (1:16:52) on the block including 'SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY' and other DC news. Not to mention one of the biggest music events in history happened this past Sunday as the legends, Earth, Wind and Fire, and the Isley Brothers came together for the most amazing Verzuz (1:52:57) thus far, resetting the culture and making everyone's week before it even started. Also in the world of music we have to discuss the recent news about the hip-hop icon DMX and the shocking reality about his health and what it might mean.

YOOOOOOO. This is part one of a very special 2 Black Nerds episode. This week we have some near and dear friends joining us, Jarrell and Kevin with Evenflow Coffee (2:55) . Evenflow Coffee is a company that was created to merge interests in fashion, music, and coffee consumption to present a new innovative edge that hasn't been seen in the market before. Jarrell and Kevin aren't here just to talk about their company, they're also here to discuss with us some big topics, including that of the premiere of 'FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER' (28:19) as well as the current state and future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (72:40).
There wasn't much to watch this past week in terms of new films but Tom Holland and the Russo brothers did give us at least something to check out with Cherry (2:53) but was it worth it? The Oscar Nominations (18:50) are here, and it seems that the Academy just might be on to something here, but we'll see. Also the Grammy Awards (51:20) happened and Megan and Beyonce pretty much ran everything, to no surprise. Join the nerds in a smaller review episode about some big topics.
Spoilers! The saga of WandaVision has ended so we've compiled all of our previous reviews of every single episode from the 24th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the January 19th pod, we kicked things off by discussing the first two episodes of WandaVision, 'Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience,' and 'Don't Touch That Dial' (1:18). Then, we break down the birth of Wanda's children and confrontation with Monica Rambeau in 'Now in Color' (29:11). After watching episode 4, 'We Interrupt This Program,' we unpack the introduction of S.W.O.R.D. into the MCU and the adventures of Monica (45:44). Our Feburary 9th pod saw us breaking down the biggest surprise of the series yet: the introduction of Evan Peters as Pietro (1:16:37)! After the shocking reveal, things get spooky in episode 6, 'All-New Halloween Spooktacular,' where we discuss Wanda's epic display of power and Vision's journey to discover the truth (1:51:28). Inevitably, the truth does come to light in the series' seventh episode, 'Breaking the Fourth Wall,' as we find out it's been Agatha all along (2:22:29). After understanding who the true villain is, we react to the emotionally wrenching moments of the penultimate episode, 'Previously On' (2:55:02). Finally, we address whether or not 'The Series Finale' succeeding at concluding the story in a satisfying way (3:46:57), and provide our final thoughts on the series as a whole (4:26:51).
There wasn't too much news that came out in the last week but boy was there a lot to watch. 2 Black Nerds hosted another movie night on Friday watching the anticipated 'Coming 2 America' (2:45). Also Disney released their latest installment in animation 'Raya and the Last Dragon' (24:50). 'Promising Young Woman' (37:30) is a film that has been getting a lot of buzz so the nerds also decided to check that out as well as the new Netflix documentary 'Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell'(52:30) about the late and great rapper. And of course you know we had to talk about the finale to the show we've been talking about every week 'WandaVision' (65:15)
What a busy busy week. 2 Black Nerds hosted another movie night this past weekend watching 'The United States Vs Billie Holiday' (5:24), Minari came out (16:30), Tom and Jerry came out (24:53), another episode of WandaVision happened (32:52), the Golden Globes happened (1:24:37), and Paramount released their lineup for new content on their upcoming streaming service (1:45:00). Malcolm & Marie was one of the most anticipated films of 2021 and we finally got to watch it, and of course we have a lot of thoughts. Besides the M&M hype Jordan checked out Netflix's Pieces of a Woman and Desmund checked out the latest Tracee Ellis Ross film The High Note. Happy Black History Month! Another week has passed and we've lost one of the biggest icons of our lifetime, Cicely Tyson. She was supposed to live forever, the movie industry will never be the same. Among other things Jordan and Desmund watched some movies over the weekend including The Little Things, Sound of Metal, Outside the Wire, and Batman: Soul of the Dragon. Also it's time to talk about another episode of WandaVision because things are getting WEIRD.

The world was in shock to hear about the passing of the beloved star Chadwick Boseman. He lost his battle to colon cancer on Friday, August 28th. A couple of highly anticipated films came out over Valentine's Day weekend - The Photograph and Sonic the Hedgehog. Between the exploration of black love and the beloved speedster hedgehog there's a lot of anticipation for these films, how did they do? We witnessed one of the greatest all star weekends of all time from the 3 point competition, to the dunk contest, to the all star game itself, it was an amazing weekend of basketball. It has been a very tough couple days since we have all received the news that Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna died in a tragic helicopter accident. The people he inspired and the legacy that he left is truly something different. Also over MLK weekend they were able to see the long awaited movie Bad Boys For Life. Was it worth the wait? It's been a while since the 2 Black Nerds have been together, but boy do they have some things to talk about. On Monday morning the Oscar nominations dropped. This past decade has simply been the golden age of comic book movies. We were given adaptions to characters and superheroes both old and new that have continued to shake not only nerd culture, but that have completely redefined the cinematic industry. Although we live in the golden age of comic book movies, there are still many mistakes being made. This is not to tear down anyone who loves or even has contributed to making these films but these are Jordan and Desmund's worst comic book films of the decade. This is the season one finale 2 Black Nerds!! In light of the huge nerd event known as the 2019 Comic Con Experience, held in São Paulo, Brazil, there were half a dozen trailer that were dropped over the past week. Black Widow, Mulan, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, No Time To Die, The Boys Season 2, and Wonder Woman 1984. Jordan and Desmund share their reactions and takes over all of these promising trailers. Netflix has released another potential award season contender with Marriage Story which they break down spoiler free, and they do the same as we again peek into the life of the legend Mr. Rogers in the film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. It feels like forever since we've longed for a film like Queen & Slim. Desmund and Jordan definitely had high hopes for this movie but did it meet their expectations? They also managed to check out 21 Bridges, the new film starring Chadwick Boseman, where he....doesn't play someone famous? Then there's Knives Out, another highly anticipated film with a star studded cast, and it might be safe to say that this is a favorite for the year for the 2.
