Various things in life may cause us to worry: our jobs, children, death, our health, society, our finances. However, Jesus told the disciples, "Do not worry!" It is not beneficial; it is not helpful. Instead of worrying, we must pray, perceive, and prioritize the events of our lives. We can be happy and at peace because of Jesus. We can be happy because He is with us! We can be happy because we have a heavenly Father who cares and knows what we need.
Now, if you don’t have a relationship with Jesus or have never invited Him into your heart, you should be worried. However, that worry can be released by accepting Jesus Christ in your heart today. Is there one?

What does it truly mean to abide in Christ? It is a word we hear often in church, but do we really grasp what it demands of us? Drawing from John 15, we are invited into one of Jesus' most vivid and personal teachings, where he describes himself as the vine, the Father as the vine dresser, and us as the branches. The imagery is striking and intentional. A branch that is cut off from the vine does not simply stop growing. It withers, dries out, and becomes fit only for the fire. But a branch that stays connected receives everything it needs to not just survive, but to produce fruit abundantly. Abiding, at its core, means staying connected. It means remaining, continuing, and refusing to drift. This message challenges us to examine whether we are truly attached to the vine or simply close enough to look like we are. It reminds us that the Father, as the vine dresser, is actively at work in our lives, pruning what is dead and shaping what is alive so that we can produce even more. The question it leaves us with is both simple and searching: Are we staying connected, or have we slowly let go without even realizing it?
This week, Pastor Nate continues the Can We Talk!? series with a message that calls us to look in the mirror and change our ways.
This powerful message confronts us with one of the most uncomfortable yet necessary spiritual practices: honest self-examination. Drawing from 2 Samuel 12, we witness the dramatic confrontation between the prophet Nathan and King David after David's devastating sins of adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband Uriah. The brilliance of Nathan's approach teaches us something profound about conviction—he presents David with a parable about a rich man who steals a poor man's only lamb, and David, blinded to his own guilt, pronounces harsh judgment on the offender. Only then does Nathan deliver the crushing revelation: "You are the man." This narrative exposes our human tendency to clearly see injustice in others while remaining blind to our own failings. We learn that unrepentant sin doesn't just affect us—it ripples through generations, as David's household experienced ongoing consequences despite his eventual repentance. The message challenges us to stop waiting for God to expose our hidden sins and instead develop the spiritual maturity to look honestly in the mirror, confess what we find there, and return to God before judgment becomes necessary. David's story reminds us that being forgiven doesn't always mean escaping consequences, but it does mean we can still worship God even in the midst of painful outcomes we've brought upon ourselves.

The message unpacks Paul's passionate correction to the Galatian churches, who were being tempted to add requirements to the gospel—to believe that Jesus plus something else was necessary for salvation. Through the allegory of Abraham's two sons, Isaac and Ishmael, we see a profound truth: one was born of human effort and the flesh, while the other came through God's promise. We are children of promise, not of slavery. This teaching challenges us to examine whether we've truly experienced the freedom Christ offers or if we're still living under the burden of rules, expectations, and fear. The distinction between knowing about God cognitively and knowing Him experientially becomes crucial—it's one thing to recognize His face, quite another to have walked through life with Him. When we truly experience God's love and grace, no distorted gospel can shake us. We're called to represent Christ authentically in our workplaces, homes, and communities, not through perfect performance but through genuine transformation that starts in our hearts and works its way into our actions.
God is the one who starts—and finishes—the good work in us. Drawing from the rich history of the Philippian church and connecting it to our present-day walk, Dr. Manning reminds us that we’re part of something much bigger than ourselves. Whether you're in a season of growth, waiting, or rebuilding, this message will reignite your faith in God’s divine plan.
This week Pastor Nate takes us further in our study of Paul's letter to the Galatians, exploring the impact that Faith has on us. This week we are reminded that it is not the Law that makes us righteous but Faith in Jesus Christ!
This sermon explores Galatians chapter 3, emphasizing that salvation and righteousness come through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not through works of the law. Pastor Nate challenges the congregation to maintain unshakable faith despite cultural pressures or legalistic teachings that suggest faith in Christ isn't sufficient. He explains how the Galatian church was being influenced by those who claimed Gentile believers needed to follow Jewish law to be fully part of God's covenant. The message emphasizes three key theological truths: faith connects us to Abraham's covenant promise, faith redeems us from the curse of the law that we could never keep, and faith unifies all believers regardless of ethnicity, social status, or gender. This Resurrection Sunday, Pastor Nate reminded us all that we serve a Risen Savior who went to the cross for our sins, but rose from the grave gifting us salvation! What a God we serve!
This Palm Sunday, Pastor Nate reminded us that we should not lose sight of who Jesus is, because we have decided who we want him to be. When God shows up in our lives, He doesn't always show up according to the narrative that we have created and yet He knows exactly what we need.

When the Magi sought Jesus, they did not approach for selfish reasons. How we approach the king is an indication of what is going on in our hearts.

When God is about to do something incredible, you don't have to be afraid because He will perform the miraculous. Good morning Bethany family. Thank you so much for joining us; that means a lot to us. Today, we're gathering here on the internet in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. We will not gather in corporate worship at our church building in Laurel, MD.
2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and sound mind. In our exercise of faith, we recognize that we are also called to exercise prudence; showing care, thought toward the future, and cautiousness. This is literally the Greek understanding of what we translate as “Sound mind.”
In our precautions to care for the safety of our community, while also continuing to share the word of God, we are connecting spiritually while distancing social. God has given us the ability to continue to advance the kingdom through new technologies, and for this we are grateful!

He let us know that our journey is like a race, and there are times that we will find ourselves in a pit, but those places are more like ‘pitstops’ because they are not permanent. God will use them to preserve us, prepare us, and position us for all that He desires for us.
