Arun Verma was 24 years old, completing a bachelor of science degree at the University of British Columbia. A friend stopped by Arun's dorm room to ask him if he wanted to go for a ride in his new his car. They were cut off by a speeding car which resulted in a crash - it was at point that Arun became a quadriplegic. At the time, he had been accepted into medical school at UBC. Not to be discouraged by his predicament, Arun completed both a bachelor of science in biochemistry and a bachelor of science in pharmacy at UBC. Following a hospital residency with the Department of Pharmacy at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, Dr. Verma returned to UBC as a graduate student, completing an MSc and PhD in pharmacy. Dr. Verma is a professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC. Arun resides in Richmond B.C. with his wife and three beautiful children.
