Fiona O’Loughlin is Australian comedy royalty; a woman whose sense of humour and storytelling opened up an entirely new career in the late-90s for the mother-of-five from Alice Springs. However, by her own admission, it was a career that nearly killed her following a well-documented battle with alcoholism.
In this incredibly raw episode of FORTY, Fiona reveals a recent diagnosis has turned her world upside down. It’s been a ‘seismic shift’ for the stories she has told herself; from the little seven-year-old girl who struggled with times tables, to the wife who developed coping mechanisms during tricky conversations, to the public figure who suffered through the disease that is addiction. Only now - in her ‘third chapter’ of life - has Fiona found overwhelming levels of both freedom and relief to sort through the past and find layers of forgiveness.
So, what happens when you learn something that changes everything?
We find out in FORTY.
