The most difficult and complicated part of exiting the drinking life is the decision to start.

During my 7 year struggle to drink less my thoughts about the process were all about relentless, unwavering willpower and deprivation. Basically, a horrible, turbulent trip of resist, deny, resist, deny, cave, resist, deny, resist day after day, week after week and never feeling happy about alcohol's role in my life.

It wasn't until I began to decided to go against the grain and explore how I was attempting to drink less did I make alcohol irrelevant in my life.
