South Africa is facing a growing problem of unemployed graduates. The country's unemployment rate has been rising over the last nine years. According to Stats SA, in 2017 youth unemployment rates rose by 1.6 percentage points to 38.6%‚ with 58% of unemployed people aged between 15 and 34. Experts suggest that young graduates lack the relevant skills and that tertiary institutions are not producing work-ready graduates.
