On the Forum@8 this morning, we focus on the AARTO amendment bill, as passed by the National Assembly, and what it means for motorists. The National Assembly passed the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences amendment bill last week, paving the way for the national rollout of the AARTO Act, and the implementation of the points-demerit system. It will become law, once endorsed by the National Council of Provinces and then signed by President Jacob Zuma. Some commentators believe the passing of the Amendment Bill, has serious implications for holders of driving licenses and/or owners of motor vehicles. We speak to interested parties on this matter.

We interrogate the issues around the new demerit system….; How is it going to work….What are some of the Amendments to the bill? - Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Japh Chuwe (Registra: Traffic Infringement Agency, which manages South Africa's road safety and driver compliance) and Howard Dembovsky (National Chairman: Justice Project South Africa)
