Between 2008 and 2013, the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre estimated that more than 1.5 million people were displaced by sudden-onset disasters in Southern Africa. Due to impacts of climate change, the situation is likely to worsen, affecting communities and causing displacements at different scales with dramatic socio-economic implications. How would we deal with these issues, cities have capacity for the rapid urbanisation, is there a plan for housing, waste management, energy as well as water supply and sanitation to deal with the challenges?
