On the Forum@8 this morning, we look at the Regulation of Churches and Religious Freedom in South Africa. You will remember last week, we had a discussion, with the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities, about their view, that there are several reasons for the Religious Sector to be regulated. But there are concerned that the Commission's proposed solution to the problem, namely "self-regulation" of religion (including the Church), is not a workable or constitutionally permissible solution.
