The conversation around data in South Africa has once again made headlines this past week . This is after well-known radio personality Thabo Molefe, better known as Tbo Touch, started the #data must fall campaign. Molefe gave cellphone networks a 30-day ultimatum to make a change or else subscribers would migrate to a cheaper service provider. Today(Monday 26 September), is11 days since the ultimatum was issued. Some telecommunication experts agree with the recent public outcry over exorbitant cellular phone data costs, but caution that cellular phone data costs in South Africa will not be cheaper anytime soon. Research ICT Africa (RIA) says South Africa's cheapest 1 giga-byte data product puts it in 16th place out of 47 African countries assessed by RIA. Tanzania has the cheapest 1GB , in comparison to South Africa. Egypt, Kenya, and Nigeria also have better data prices than South Africa. On the forum@ we ask is data expensive in South Africa?
