South Africans have just observed a seven day marriage campaign, that focused on marriage as a holy institution. Couples were encouraged to focus on their marital relationship and to confront any obstacles in their marriage. This project, running from 1-7 September 2016, is an opportunity for every South African couple to focus on marriage and to what extent it is threatened. Media reports do indicate that globally, the divorce rate is increasing. Here at home, we're told that in 2010, 170 826, civil marriages, 9 996 customary marriages and 888 civil unions were recorded by the Department of Home Affairs. In the same year, 22 936 divorces were granted, with more women (49,3%) than men (34,0%) filing for divorce.
