On June 16 South Africans commemorated the 40th anniversary of the uprisings, remembering how the events of that day in 1976 changed the course of this country's history. When DA leader Mmusi Maimane addressed his party followers in Soweto, he alleged that the bantu education that the youth of 1976 fought against was still alive in South Africa. Maimane said that the country was commemorating while young people were still subjected to poor quality education.
