There are renewed calls for the privatisation of Eskom as the country grapples with rolling blackouts and unpaid power bills amounting to billions. South Africa is considering privatising the state-owned utility in an effort to raise capital to build new generation capacity. Energy analysts say privatisation is the way forward BUT this move will face resistance from labour unions.
